We have been eating at Pho Dung 2 for decades because we love their Hu Teiu (noodles)! The place looks the same all these years, and seeing the owners themselves every time feels nice also. Each time we come to eat here (about once every other month), the price continues to rise, and ultimately now, there literally is barely anything in that bowl of noodles. Inflation is real and understandable, but not sure when they drop each bowl to only 1 shrimp and 3 pieces of pork. There are other pho options out there. read more

The Com Bo Loc Lac (ketchup fried rice, stir-fry beef with side of broth) was new dish I haven't tried from here. As I was eating it, I craved my mom's version, which had a more oyster sauce-flavored sauce and came with more lettuce and scrambled eggs. I haven't had ketchup fried rice in years it feels like, so that was nostalgic. The overall flavors aren't in your face, but if you want lots of basic beef with some fresh veggies on the side and to dress it with lime-salt-pepper and eat it with a side of hot broth, then it makes for a good meal. A friend whose coworkers highly recommended this very clean and shiny place who suggested that I give it a try. The owner warmly offered us a place to sit while with friends, and he took our order and patiently gave us a lesson on the pronunciation of the dishes which made it a very light hearted experience. Their takeout/menu today has 58 items! I ordered the Soursop smoothie. I learned that it is extremely healthy. It reminds me of lemon flavor. It's very thick so I had difficulty using even the wider straw. It has a very pleasant taste. $3.25 For lunch, I ordered the #20, Bún Māng Vįt. I felt like it was very pricy at $8.10 until I dove into it. It is very filling. The duck leg has the bone and cartilage included. The bamboo shoots were cut nicely and not dry. Surprisingly the liver didn't taste livery. There is a generous amount of noodles in the bottom just waiting to be stirred! We always go to this place whenever we are craving Vietnamese noodle soup. The broth in the soup is delicious and full of flavor. You have options on the size of the noodle soup (they have small and large). You can also ask them to put egg noodles instead of rice noodles in your soup. We usually order #6 in the noodles menu with diffeeent variety of meat like steak, tendons, brisket and tripe. More choices in the menu like rice combos, appetizers like the spring rolls. This is my favorite Vietnamese noodle house! Though the menu isn't the largest, offering familiar favorites along with a few surprises, the execution is spot on. Located in the Hong Kong shopping center, It never gets insanely crowded for lunch where there is a wait. Several pictures of various popular dishes line the walls, if you would like a visual sneak peek of some of the food. This place is actually CLEAN. Sure, there are the usual food splatter stains on the wall, but the caddies with the condiments and soup spoons are always wiped down, without crumbs or dried up residue like other Vietnamese noodle houses. Some of the servers can barely speak English, so be prepared for that. What really stands out about Pho Dung is that the noodle soups are always served piping hot and steaming. Halfway through your soup, the broth is still holding onto some invigorating heat. There's always some surprise tasty goodies floating around in the various noodle soup dishes I have tried, and the spicy ones like the bun bo hue are just spicy enough to leave that nice lingering burn without needing to gulp down water in between bites. There has never been a disappointing soup I have tried here. Flavors are spot on, neither bland or too salty. Pho is great and everything, but don't be afraid to branch out and try some of the other offerings here. The chargrilled pork is exceptionally good and flavorful, though there is an ample amount of chewy fat on the pieces, which some prefer because of the extra flavor. Eggrolls are also extremely tasty. One of my favorite dishes to order here is banh uot thit nuong which is rolled sheets of thin rice noodles topped with a generous helping of chargrilled pork. Definitely a fun way to eat noodle. Mix some hoison sauce with chile oil and a drop of fish sauce, and dip those noodles in there for delicious results! read more

Love their eggrolls. Crunchy goodness on the outside & tasty savory filling inside. And I wanted to just heat & drink the dipping sauce that comes with them! On my recent visit, customer ahead of me had large order & was being pretty rude for no reason, causing a bit of confusion. We got the lemon grass chicken and a pork dish. They were both delicious and excellent in flavor and portion. The dishes are pretty hearty, so you will definitely feel full after having your entree. 3.50 stars. I'm a bit confused on why this pho place rates so high. To me broth is the single most important factor in pho. First off I ordered the pho with eye round on the side and meatballs. My pho came out and the broth looked very watery. It also looked very light in color. I actually asked my very friendly server if it was beef broth. Anyway it tasted like a powdered beef flavoring was used to make the broth. The broth was one dimensional and totally lacking any real depth of flavors from being cooked with real bones. Also there were no fatty little oil bubbles in the broth which you get from cooking bones in it even if you strain off all the fat the next day. I bet if you refrigerated the broth it would not have any gelatinous texture upon being chilled. I've been cooking pho for about 11 years now at home from total scratch and have never experienced this kind of watery pho. The pho did taste like they used seasonings in it though. Anyway the pho came out piping hot as in almost scalding hot which I liked. It was full of perfectly cooked noodles, red onions, green onions and slices of meatball. The eye round was very tender and I enjoyed how I could add it periodically into my soup and it would come out a nice medium rare because the broth stayed hot the entire time. They veggies were very fresh. This would not be my first choice for a flavorful broth but it would be a good choice on a really cold day when I would want a steamy very piping hot bowl of pho. It overall was tasty once I added sufficient sriracha and hoisin sauce. The guys working here were super friendly and nice. The only reason why I'm swinging to 4 stars instead of 3. read more

I'm a California native and can safely say that I've had my fair share of good pho. Pho has a special place in my heart. It's one of those foods for cold and dreary days. Who am I kidding?! Pho is the ultimate food to have to cure a hangover. The warm broth soothes your GI system which just the night before had been on a roller coaster, the oil... does something, and the noodles provide substance. So why do I mention all this? Pho Dung 2 was visited on that very type of morning. A morning when your skull is splitting in two, when getting out of bed means rolling onto the floor, and when you proclaim to the world that you're never drinking again (while in your mind you know that last one is a lie). Some friends and I hobbled on in and ordered a bowl of the good stuff. As expected, service was quick and then food was in front of us in no time. I started with the broth and after one sip, I knew I found myself the right medicine. The broth was delicious, deep, and rich, the protein in the dish was all perfect, and the noodles were perfect. The same friends and I came the next day and I can also comment that the spring rolls and egg rolls are just as good. Imagine a good spring roll and that's what you get. Please do not mistake this place for Pho Danh 3, I always order a plain noodle soup with no meat and chicken broth. The broth was super watery and not good at all. The basil they give is very dry and old also. They sit all the non-Asian appearing people together in a corner away from the majority Asian customers. All Asian people came and sat wherever they wanted and the manager I'm assuming sat us in the side with others at a table with trash all under the floor. I went here the other day, power went out, the owner went to buy candles, had her employee light the candles, no candle holders, just old school wax on a bowl to hold it up, and she accidentally spilled the burning candle and wax on my 4 year old daughter. No apology, no checking up on her customer. My mother went to her and told her in Vietnamese that they burnt her grand daughter and that its common courtesy to apologize to your customer, and I gave her 10 minutes to get out of her cashier box to come and apologize... Nope. They accept cash and credit, however in the event of this power outage, they couldn't take my husbands credit card, instead of thinking for the future and offering to pay for our half eaten food, she demands him to ask his wife and mother in law for cash. At this point, I tell her that I have only $25 cash and that I don't mind paying later however she hasn't even apologized for burning my daughter! She just looked at me with a dumb stare said "ok sorry". NEVER AGAIN. I don't mind paying $1000 for good food and service, let alone $45 for subpar pho. My daughter is now traumatized, every time we drive by there she says she doesn't want to get burnt. read more

You don't have to drive all the way to Bellaire for decent Vietnamese food! Pho Dung serves very tasty pho and best of all, I discovered tonight that they have broken rice (com tam)! With the rice dish, you get a side cup of soup, which I really enjoyed. The soup was so flavorful and had a little bit of green onions. As for the dish, they give you a lot of meat and the ratio of meat and rice was just perfect for me. Not too much rice or not too much meat. Service is quick and excellent! read more

The service was pretty fast. The food was fresh and they gave good size portions. The pho broth was tasty and a nice beefy flavor. The meat portions were very generous for my twin 5 year olds small pho. I was pleasantly surprised since it seems like a lot of places cheap out on the portions. The vermicelli was pretty yummy.. The reason why I didn't give 4 stars was due to the fact that one of my egg rolls seemed raw on the inside. I didn't make a fuss I just put it on the side and ate the noodles and the chargrilled pork and veggies. The pork was tasty and moist with a good flavor not salty, bland or fatty meat. This is the best northernmost pho restaurant in the area. Better than anything in Conroe, Woodlands, and Spring. You would need to travel to Cypress for better pho or make the trek down to SW for the best pho in Houston. Yes, those are plates of raw beef. The broth is piping hot enough so you can cook the beef just right so that it stays tender. The broth is light and flavorful. Always awesome with other items on the menu if you want variety. I had dinner here with my family because I wanted to try to bun bo hue. First impressions: wow, this dining room is empty. At least the bathrooms are clean. I ordered bun bo hue and everyone else ordered pho. We also ordered spring rolls as an appetizer. In less than 5 minutes, they had our pho out on the table. Dayum. I decided that bun bo hue wan't my cup of tea (or bowl of soup, if you will). I'm not a fan of those noodles and the cuts of beef they had were really chewy. The bean sprouts and basil leaves that comes on the side was super fresh though. The spring rolls came out about 5 minutes after the pho. They were pretty bland and I would not recommend getting them. The filling consisted of shrimp, rice noodles, lettuce, and pork. Note to self: always get the pho. read more

4.5** Goodness, its so hard for me to find a pho restaurant back at home (aka VA) where the pho isn't watered down. Therefore, when I tried the pho at Pho Dung 2, I was quite impressed. The broth, before all the seasonings, tasted great - flavorful and had a well-balanced flavor (not too watered down or salty). The pho came out fast, the vegetables were fresh, the coconut water was refreshing and the vietnamese coffee was delicious!
