I used to go to another spot closer to me off of barker cypress, but eventually I could never get through to place phone orders. On top of that a good friend of mine said I need to go back to this spot, so it all ended up working out. It had been years since I had been back to Pho Saigon, but I'm so glad it all happened this way. The pho is straight better than the old spot I used to frequent, plus their Vietnamese egg rolls are sooooo good. I usually get the #12 large and eat all of it, and of course drink the broth I have left over. Easy to phone in your order then walk in and pick it up no problem. 1st time to Pho Saigon. We were greeted by a very nice man who seated us and gave us menus. We sat there for 10 minutes and watched multiple employees ignore us. Watched an Asian family walk in after us and less than a minute later a waiter walked over and took their order. While this was happening, there were at least 5 employees that could have took our order. Perhaps it's b/c we are not Asian? The staff is properly attentive, when we walked in we were immediately seated. The waiter came back by to ask what we wanted to drink, we also decided to order our appetizer and meal at that time. I ordered shrimp spring rolls with no bean sprouts. We also ordered vegetarian spring rolls. The spring rolls were fresh, and the peanut sauce was tasty! We really appreciated their willingness to modify them for us. The chicken pho came out quick and it was delicious. Very light, fragrant, and delicious. I ordered a large, and it was enough to eat for lunch and dinner. I also ordered extra rice noodles so when I ate it later I had some noodles left that weren't soggy. Sometime while we were eating they brought the bill and then when I was ready to leave I was able to bring it up to the register to pay. I've been here a few times many years ago and visited recently again. I remembered it being better than what I experienced a few weekends ago. This Pho Saigon location does have more menu offerings compared to other pho Saigon locations, which is nice because they also offer a combo option. I opted for the pho combo with fried egg roll and a can of sprite. I thought the pho was okay, but not as flavorful as the other Pho Saigon locations I've visited recently. The egg rolls were yummy, no complaints there. My partner ordered their Banh Mi Bo Kho and salted lemonade drink. To say the least, he did not enjoy his meal at all. Banh Mi Bo Kho was bland and the salted lemonade drink was terrible. We've have many salted lemonade drinks and I think that was one of the worst ones I've ever tasted. Not sure if the soda they used was at the end of its life or if the salted lemon was over its best by date. Either way, I probably won't be back here. Service was nice, although it didn't really feel super clean on the inside. Maybe I visited on an off day as my sister loves this location. read more

THE WORST PHO EXPERIENCE EVER A coworker/friend recommended that I give this place a try because he and his wife are fans and speak so highly of it. I must say though, I HATED IT! I was starving when I arrived. Upon entering, I was greeted by a joker-type smiley face small and friendly hostess, lol. She was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I'm giving them two stars based on her bubbly personality alone. She was such a sweetheart. However, if I were rating this establishment on cleanliness, customer service, and quality of food alone, I would give them zero stars. First off, there was a weird aroma floating around in the atmosphere like the smell of a dirty mop, which can only mean that the floors are being mopped with a dirty mop. The stench was so overwhelming that I couldn't smell the aroma of the food cooking in the kitchen, which was really weird because a restaurant is supposed to smell like food is being cooked. I did not smell any cooked food aromas wafting in the atmosphere. The dining area wasn't clean and the tables and chairs were old and rotting wood. There was white tape on all of the legs of the dining chairs which appeared negligent and tasteless. I noticed that there was not too many guests dining but there were many to-go orders being picked up. The ambience was noisy like that of a hospital cafeteria, dull and drably. Secondly, the older lady that took my order was not friendly at all and she was sort of rude in her approach towards me. As I was sitting at the table waiting for service, she walked over to me and handed me a menu and asked me what I want to order and if it's for dine-in or to-go. I told her that it is a to-go order and I asked if they had shrimp Pho. She was snappy and short in her response to my question informing me that they do not have shrimp pho as an option but they have seafood Pho. After finding it on the menu and reading what type of seafood is in it, while she was hovering and towering over me, I decided to go with the seafood pho so she could stop standing over me with her impatient energy. I don't know why I spent my money at this place. I should have turned around and walked out. However, if I would have walked out, then I would not be able to share my thoughts with you all about this establishment. Furthermore, the seafood pho consists of crab meat, fish balls, squid, and shrimp. I was so excited to try it out because it sounded so appetizing. However, after I got home and opened my bags to look at my food, I discovered only one shrimp that was not fully deveined and two pieces of imitation crab meat. I was highly disappointed! I do not like imitation crab meat. To top it off, I was given chicken broth instead of beef broth, which was my fault for not specifically ordering the beef broth. However, at other Vietnamese Pho restaurants, I've always been asked for my preference on which flavored broth I would like, but not at this establishment. The customer service was very cold and unwelcoming. I truly regret my experience with this restaurant. It was a waste of my energy and money, but I guess you lose some and you win some. I'll take the L as a learning experience. Plus it gives me the opportunity to help some other poor soul about deciding if they should give this place a try. Trust me people, it's not worth it. Overall, this establishment did not sit well with me at all. They need to make some serious repairs on their building because it's old and smelly. They need to replace the tables and chairs and get with the program because presentation is everything. I will never return to give them a second chance unless these conditions are met. read more

We just had the most delicious lunch at this location. We had been referred and this was our first visit and it was a great choice. My wife had the seafood noodle bowl (item 100) and bragged about the broth, fish balls, shrimp, but found the squid chewy. I tasted the broth and it was the best broth, rich in flavors, and an excellent base for all of their noodle soups. I had the Pad Thai and it was the best. Our lunch orders came quickly and were hot and the ingredients were fresh. The servers were on the spot and friendly and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. The broth was not the best I've tasted, it was basically beef bouillon seasoned water. The bowl had a very faint smell like as if it were dried off with a mildewy dish rag after it had been washed. I came into this lovely establishment with my girlfriend around 3 minutes before closing unaware of its business hours, and they still gladly seated us down, and took our order with patience and hospitality instead of saying they were closed and turning us away. The food was absolutely beyond fantastic and the broth in the pho was spectacular. The service was great and very authentic. By the end of my dinner when I had to pay my card was having issues and the man at the front was very patient and kind and even offered me and my girlfriend to come back and pay for it tomorrow knowing we were having problems. Eventually we called the bank and got things to work and the man showed us so much respect and hospitality even without knowing a bit about us. I will definitely be coming back over and over again. They have a ton of soup options including Bun Bo Hue. I think this place is pretty much on par with places you're gonna find on Bellaire. You might check their schedule because they aren't open every day. Lunch time sometimes gets busy but the place is big enough to always find a seat.
