There are a lot of reasons why I give this place a 5 but the broth is number 1 and the broth is the most important part of pho. Under quarantine I really tried to reproduce their traditional broth. I wasn't even able to come close. Their broth is a labor of love and it shows. It takes hours to cultivate that flavor and they do it on many levels. Beef, chicken, seafood, bo bun hue, and their stew! They're all amazing and all take a serious amount of time to make any one of them and they do them all. But dont forget the other dishes. I always get soup but my wife loves the main dishes. The pork chops are so tender and are packed with flavor. The apps are to die for and anything ending with "roll" is a winner. Solid pho place in the area. I have favorite pho places in SF and San Jose and wanted to try a new pho place up here. They have an outdoor area but it was closed unfortunately. Inside was spacious and tables seemed to be spaced out. The broth was good, flavorful and not overly sweet. This is the best bowl of pho in the Solano County region. The broth is delicious and full of flavor, and the fresh spring rolls serve as a great appetizer. The restaurant itself is spacious with a sleek decorum and mounted flatscreen TVs. We've always been seated fairly quickly when we visit. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My only gripe would be the portion sizes which come in only "small" or "large." The large bowl of pho comes with what seems to be only one handful of noodles, not even enough to fill my hungry 12-year old. We had to order an extra side of noodles for him, and those wound up somewhat undercooked as the soup had cooled off by then. My siblings and I call this place "corporate" pho lol. Since new management and owners years ago, it's definitely gotten a lot more modern especially after moving to the location next to Bud's. The new owners didn't change much to the recipes which is great because it didn't need fixing. Slightly pricier than my favorite pho spot (Vien Huong) but a great backup option if needed. I Love Pho! ... BUT I didn't "Love" it here. Don't get me wrong, it was good but wasn't 4 star good in my opinion for the following reasons: 1. There is no follow up service after your food is served, so plan to wave someone down if you need anything. 2. I ordered my usual small Pho Ga (Chicken), which I normally have problems finishing everywhere else but not here. I asked for extra spouts but hardly got very much more. 3. They skimp on the noodles & chicken was tough. 4. Iced coffee was good but came already mixed. I prefer to watch it brew at my table. Which is not only fun but authentic. 5. They are overpriced for the portion 6. While writing this review, the server came to ask me 3 times if I needed anything. I guess he was in a hurry fir me to leave since I had finished eating. My family and I usually dine in pho places in San Francisco. So we are slightly prejudice when it comes to eating authentic Vietnamese food. My parents ordered the seafood soup and I had the beef noodle with bbq meat on the side. They give a generous portion of seafood items and a right amount of noodles for a small-sized dish. My beef broth was tasty. The fresh spring roll came nicely wrapped, however, the peanut sauce is lacking something that I can't really figure out at the moment...I just feel that there's not enough flavor of peanut in it plus it had some Julienne slices of carrots on top of the sauce, which I hardly see in any peanut sauce sever with fresh spring rolls...hmmm it took me off guard. The carrots are normally in the egg roll dips, my friends;) Every place is different I guess... Overall, my dine-out experience was great! My favorite and go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Vallejo. The food is really good that people are willing to wait in line. That being said, this place tends to be packed and the wait is worth it. I have been ordering the same food ever since I found this places years ago, and its #46. Sometimes I order a large #1 whenever I'm craving pho. Lemme give you a little bit more explanation about what I always order... #46 is grilled pork chop with fried shrimp cake and rice topped off with sunny side up egg. Egg makes every rice a whole lot better you know? For the #1, it's their pho with thin sliced steak, brisket, tendon, flank, tripe, and beef balls with rice noodles. Really good way to warm up your tummy. After all that food, why not push it down with their good ol' #104 thai tea (and don't forget the pearls for some chews). I have been coming in here for several years. With no prior problem,service and food was decent. However last time I ordered to go I got a chicken noodle soup and asked them to add shrimp. So I caught a pre-summer cold. You know the one where you can't stop blowing your nose and you just feel crappy overall. I didn't have much of an appetite but knew I needed something savory to warm up as I was having chills. The chicken pho did the job. The broth is delicious and the chicken is tender without being dry. I had it delivered as I didn't want to infect anyone and I was pleased. The one downside is also ordered shrimp spring rolls and was looking for forward to the freshness. Unfortunately I couldn't eat them as I have red meat allergies and my wife luckily discovered it before I had an adverse reaction. When I called to tell their staff, the employee chuckled a bit and said I could come in and get some without pork. I told her I was sick and it was the reason I paid an ungodly amount to door dash. Pros- they have their own private parking lot and the restaurant itself is large with lots of seating available. Family friendly atmosphere. Our server was friendly and we got seated/helped just as quick as we got our food! Cons- personally, the food was just ok. I've had better pho elsewhere (this wasn't as flavorful and lacked the works). The pork on the rice platter was oilier than I prefer and the sauce didn't taste fresh. Finally found another spot outside of the south bay that actually serves Bun Bo Hue. At first I was super excited, usual Pho places around the east bay have the usual vanilla pho's and roll. So, you can imagine my excitement when I saw they have Bun Bo Hue. For those of you who are not are not familiar with it, it's a spicy beef noodles, with a hot tomato base soup. Some places will serve it with some seafood, and pork blood cubes. It's awesome!!!!!! But my excitement quickly faded, it was bland, no good way to put it, wasn't spicy, wasn't really salty, or tomato-e, just meh. I will try it again if I go by there though, perhaps it was just that batch (crossing fingers). My wife had the chicken pho and that was really good, and the rolls we order was not too bad. I know some people like pink in their steak but the meat was so tough I spit it out and noticed RAW meat. I've had my BBQ beef a lil overdone before but I never made a big deal. But undercooked? Atmosphere - this restaurant used to be located in a much smaller place, but it moved a while ago to this new location. The new place is very clean, well-lit, and has TV's for anyone that wants to watch a sports game, etc. Even with TV's, the place is not too rowdy, and it has a good family atmosphere. There are also longer tables that can seat large groups of people. Food - I usually get pho #1 (dac biet bo vien) that has everything in it (thin sliced steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe and beef balls with rice noodle) Size small is plenty for me, but there is also a large for those who want a bit more. What I find unique about this place is how much meat they give - some places skimp on the tripe, tendon, and steak but this place gives more than a fair share. In addition, I find the broth to be just the right amount of flavor and richness. I've also tried some of the rice plates. Both their grilled chicken and grilled pork plates are pretty good, and they usually come with fried shrimp and an egg on the side. PHO #1: Ive gone to a handful of family dinners here. We really enjoy the atmosphere and pretty much every dish here. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. From their fried tofu appetizers, to their pho or bun bo hue, and their pork rice dishes, they never seem to let us down. The service is always really quick. Whenever we get a soup dish it's always been out within 10 mins max. I usually get a BBQ plate and it doesn't take anymore than 15 even on a really busy day. Whenever my family goes, the restaurant is always full. We've also gone there a small handful of times for lunch, and I'd say it's equally just as busy! Keep in mind, service is always really quick. Pho #1 also has a free rewards program which is great for frequent diners where you can get anything from a free appetizer, to a free entree if you accumulate so many points. Unbelievable! This was one of my favorite spots until today. Our order was accidentally given to the couple next to us, as the couple started digging into the soup to discover it was the wrong order. The server then realizes that it was our soup and looks at me and yanks the bowls away from the couple and removes their utensils from it. The server then walks back to the kitchen where I have a clear view of him and immediately turns around and bring us the 2 exact bowls that the couple next to us have sampled. I then tell him that I saw what he did and we want new soups and he keeps saying this is your order. As we begin to go back and forth he then says OK and gives in. I head over to our waiter to make sure that the server gets us new soups, but then change our minds to avoid any surprises in our food. The rest of the staff is cool, but this individual I had a sketchy feeling about! Every time he ends up serving our orders I always cringe watching his thumb with a long yellow nail almost grazing the broth on my soup. Beware of the thumb soup!! I feel like a lot of newer pho places try too hard to appeal to a more trendy audience and somewhere in that change the flavor of the soup becomes different (not a bad thing, just not my thing). I was surprised to find the soup tasted pretty good. My only concern with this place is the size of their large bowls, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the medium and large sizes, so I'd say just stick with the medium and save as much money as you can. I went around 7pm on a Sunday night, and there was a bit of a wait. If you write your name down on the notepad by the door, be sure to be stay around in case they call your name. With this being said, shoutout to the 4 families in front of my party and I that weren't present when there names were called, we appreciate your sacrifice. I went on vacay to Vietnam recently, and that pretty much will make me a harsh critic of Vietnamese food for the rest of my life, lol, but this place is still really good! First of all, as far as decor goes, this is aesthetically a nice restaurant, and is always packed, so expect a tiny bit of a wait. I've tried various kinds of their pho, vermicelli, and rice plates, all of which have been delicious! My go to is usually the pho bo with tendon & tripe, or the shrimp & spring roll vermicelli. I've yet to try their banh mi, partly because I don't think anything will compare to the ones I had in Vietnam, lol (but I'm sure their banh mi is good as well, lol). WOW! This place is AMAZING! I have never had pho that was this good. My boyfriend and I were coming from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and needed to eat dinner before we headed home for the night and decided to come here. We thought it was just some generic pho place and was not expecting anything shocking, but I was so wrong. The broth here is so smooth and so savory, it makes me miss the pho broth. The meat here was very meaty and very flavorful. My boyfriend said his beef stew was also very good and his meat was soft and tender. He typically does not like pho, but when he comes back here next time, he says he will definitely get the pho. Now, I don't know if the broth was so tasty because we came at the end of the day and the broth has been brewing for a full day or if it really was just that good, but the broth when I went was so great. I usually eat here all time but today they have lost a customer. They got my order wrong when I called to let them know and ask for a refund they said I had to come back and swap it out. Upon arriving they tried to accuse me of eating the food already (when it was a full plate of food I returned back). My classmates and I often come to Pho 1 for their pho and spring rolls. They have their own parking lot that is a little sketchy but I haven't had any major problems with the area yet other than a nice man asking for spare change. The service here is great and they let you use their wifi if you ask. The also have huge portion sizes for the price and often arrives to the table fast. The food is good but not great. I'm from LA though so I may be biased. However, it does satisfy my cravings! I was a little disappointed that they did not have fresh coconut water like how most Vietnamese restaurants do. Overall, it's not bad and won't mind coming back again. They even have a rewards program to collect stars and receive promotions.
