It was my first time bringing my parents here, we haven't tried this ramen spot yet located within the target plaza and what used to be Starbucks. There's plenty of parking and it can get busy. You order first then you take a seat, there's self serve water here. We ordered the chicken karaage which came out really quickly and had big pieces of chicken, perfect seasoning, wasn't too much and it had like a sriracha sweet mayo dipping sauce. My mom wanted the seafood ramen and my dad wanted the wonton ramen. I know they don't eat too much so I figured to share with them and just ask for an extra bowl. My parents don't like spice so I asked for them to not have any spice in it. Their wonton ramen was a tonkatsu base and it was pretty good. They had huge mandu style wontons that I enjoyed with the bakchoy and hard boiled egg. The seafood ramen is the most expensive and it comes with shrimp, fish balls, bamboo, corn, sprouts, boiled egg and green onions. The shrimp were huge pieces and I enjoyed the ramen noodles. The flavoring tasted like regular ramen to me. Overall it was a busy flow for a Saturday night both with people ordering take out and those dining in. They also have sodas and Hawaiian bbq plates to order plus tons of other sides you can get ala cart. Service was quick! We tried out Ramen 101 over the weekend and definitely satisfied our ramen cravings! I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen (medium spicy) which was as advertised - creamy, with a delicious broth. Wifey had the Miso Ramen and devoured it accordingly. This is a medium size restaurant where you order at the counter first, and then your meals are brought to your table. The only downsides I think are the ever increasing price, and the awkwardness of being asked to tip right from the get-go. read more

I really enjoyed the Black Garlic ramen -- super flavorful and the medium portion was just right. They also serve Hawaiian rice plates, which is a nice bonus if you're in the mood for something different. The only thing that kept this from being a 5-star experience was the hot tea. It was served piping hot (just how I like it), but it came in a disposable The Kirkland Signature Big Red Cup meant for cold drinks. I ended up not drinking it because I was concerned about heat and potential BPA or microplastic exposure. It would be much better served in a proper mug or glass. The Hawaiian bbq is standard but there are better options in the area for Hawaiian bbq. Overall they have a good variety, ramen is flavorful and lots of starters to choose from. Stopped by Ramen 101 yesterday with my daughter. Service was quick, and our food came out fast, which was appreciated. We ordered the beef ramen, unagi rice bowl, crab rangoons, and gyoza. The crab rangoons, gyoza, and unagi rice bowl were all good and enjoyable -- no complaints there. Unfortunately, the beef ramen fell short. The broth is described as a hot and sour style, but it had an off, overly sour taste that didn't feel intentional. The beef itself also tasted old and appeared gray in color, which took away from the dish. Service-wise, while food was prepared quickly, the cashier came off a bit rude and impatient, which impacted the overall experience. For the price, the experience didn't fully deliver. Food came out pretty quick and hot. Broth for both is good, hot and just the right heat for mild. Meat is semi-tender and good. However, the noodle is disappointing. Feels like it's store bought and feels starchy. Not feeling the noodle. Broth did balance it out. Black garlic is definitely good. I love garlic and this hits the spot, garlic wise. I think that the Mac salad though is missing a little flavor to it? Aside from that, I can't complain! One thing that would make me give this place 4 stars is the service. It could be better, at least from one specific person. The guy that worked there with the glasses, I don't know if he's the owner or the manager. He took our order today and I said hi to him like I usually do to people before ordering and not one emotion or response from him. It was really awkward ordering. Spicy level was great for me, my kid couldn't hang. He got the chicken ramen with only the chicken, egg, broth and obviously ramen. He loved it. My husband & I were in the area, and I've been wanting to try this place for a while. We arrived around 4pm on Wed. You walk up to the register to order, and sit where ever you want. It seemed rather warm inside, especially since the sun was shining through the front windows. I ordered the Wonton Ramen Non Spicy, with No Green Onions $13.99, and my husband got the Tonkotsu Ramen Extra Spicy $14.99. We also got an order of Crab Rangoon $7 I used the 1 bathroom they had that had a sign on it stating it doesn't lock. The Crab Rangoon came out fairly quick, and tasted good, crispy and hot, however it began to get more and more stale and chewy as time went by. They only provided us with 2 small packets of sweet n sour. Next our ramen came out in plastic bowls with large plastic ladles that were a bit too big to eat with. There were plastic forks on the table, but no knives or smaller spoons so we had to use a fork, and just bite off the large pieces of meat, wontons, and noodles. The eggs in the ramen were actually cold to begin with, but they warmed up in the hot broth. My husband specifically asked for extra spicy however his ramen wasn't spicy enough. The noodles could use a bit more flavor, the soup base was fantastic, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the temperature wasn't too hot nor toocold, and all the toppings added onto it complemented the noodles well. Right when we walked in, my friend and I walked up to the cash register and we got ignored. we were waiting to order for about 5 minutes until this man helped us order. I ordered delivery through DoorDash. So my review is strictly for the food. I can't speak to the service or ambiance of this location. Placed the order around 8pm and we were eating by 9pm. We ordered tonkatsu ramen, chicken and beef bbq plate, and the chicken and chicken katsu plate. Ramen was packaged very well. The broth was separate from the noodles. I missed the delivery notification by about 10 minutes but the soup was still hot by the time I assembled my bowl. The portions are huge. While the ramen broth does fit if you pour directly into the container with the noodles it'll be very close to the top. I ended up transferring the ramen to a mixing bowl. Very satisfying ramen. The egg was perfectly done. I appreciate they include utensils and sriracha in the delivery package without the need to ask for them. The chicken and chicken katsu were also good. They do not skimp on the protein. If anything, it's mostly chicken. I mean that in the best way possible. It comes with a small scoop of rice, macaroni salad, and a few pieces of broccoli. One plate was enough for two meals. The same can be said about the beef and chicken plate. Very large portions. Even with the inflated DoorDash prices it was still well worth the money. Quality and quantity. I'm very happy to have tried the Ramen 101 in Vallejo. Next stop we may stop by in person but at least now I know they're a great option for DoorDash dinner nights. read more
