In my first review of…read morethe grooming department we thought Zoë was a Pekingese, but after a health check/DNA test, we found out she's 100% Shih Tzu. I hate posting these type of reviews, but, when they cost me money in gas to get here just to screw me, I get upset... First off the parking lot only has one handicapped space, not very ADA friendly. Had to park at the…read moreend of the lot and walk up to the store. Thank goodness I'm not in a wheelchair, but for those that are, be aware of that. When we got in the store, we noticed it is very disorganized and was cluttered. It also didn't have a very pleasant odor. We went in specifically looking for clothes and bows for my dog, but sadly they had a very small section and everything was disorganized, no bows either(which was fine). I only ended up getting a nylabone and flea meds for my cat. When we got up to the register line, there was only one cashier for a line of about 10 people, he didn't call for an extra clerk. Maybe he couldn't, but the store had several other employees doing random stuff, or just walking around. The cashier was very nice though and didn't seem stressed or overwhelmed. The only reason I gave the store 2 stars is because of the cashier and his professional composure. He greeted us when we got to the register and said have a nice day upon leaving the store. Unfortunately I do not recommend this store as it's very disorganized, cluttered and the lack of another clerk to help with the long line.

The gentleman behind the counter was capable of smiling, he did so with someone who was obviously a regular who came in after me, but it felt like I was beneath him to interact with. My first experience with this particular location was an emergency. I had called over 10 different…read morevets (including the location on Chad Dr.) and no one could see me or fit me in (we live in Thurston). I called Banfield on Willamette and they said to immediately bring them my cat in. My cat had a blocked bladder and they worked with tremendously with what we could afford and what we could get by with in diagnosing and treating him. He was a VERY sick kitty. They ended up keeping him 2 nights and then letting us take him home. He made a FULL recovery and if it wasn't for them, he would have died a horrific death. They have checked in with us periodically and we just finished taking him there again for something else and loved the attention and the love they showed to him. Yes, we've had different vets each time but that doesn't bother me. With more vets, they are able to make more visits, get more work done, and help more animals. Where I used to live, there was an animal clinic and there were numerous vets that worked there. You could always request a specific one and I am sure that Banfield would do the same if you asked.

They also charged me almost $500 to have my cat put down, AGAIN that is the cost AFTER the "wellness plan" (which by the way you are purchasing a "yearly plan" that you CANNOT CANCEL EVEN IF YOUR PET IS DEAD), with the other option being to allow my pet to basically just suffer. If they try to sell you a "wellness plan" DO NOT go for it! It is NOT insurance like they will try to claim! It is just a way to get you to pay them money every month and EVEN IF YOUR PET DIES you are STILL REQUIRED TO PAY FOR IT because they will NOT let you cancel it until the end of the year you signed up! Doesn't matter that you have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars with them, they will find a way to justify that you still owe them money and they will refuse to cancel it. They /might/ offer to cancel "one month" of it (the literal last month that you already wouldn't be paying) to "help you" but that is it. They literally do not care about animals at this company, they only care about profit. This company does nothing but profit off of the desperation of pet owners while throwing their staff in the line of fire to go and upsell as much as possible. I've worked in the veterinary field, I know costs have gone up, but the fact that Banfield is owned by private equity should be everything you need to know about this company.

i'm so glad I found this place, I went in for the first time today and was able to bring my dog in…read more I had asked a staff member first if that was OK, and I was embarrassed to ask because usually it's a known truth that you can bring your pet into a pet store but the person at the counter made me feel, so welcomed, just like the rest of the staff did during my visit. This place has everything you could ever need for a pet and surprisingly they have more things than your big pet supply stores and at the same prices too. I was kind of meandering around and someone asked me if I needed anything and we got to talking about my cat that wouldn't drink water and for the last three years I've talked to everybody about it and I've never been able to get her to drink water, she was a feral cat, most of her life. he commented that I should add some water to her dry food when I mentioned that it's so expensive for me at the moment to buy wet food as well as dry food. since I had been discussing the issue on and off for the past few years with other cat owners, I took the advice with a grain of salt because nothing had worked until now. But I got home and I tried it, and my cat ate the entire thing faster than I had ever seen my cat eat . This doubt just represents the level of care and customer service and local small town small shop service. You don't really get nowadays. I feel like an 80-year-old riding this, but I am a millennial and I just very much appreciate this Store what a hidden gem what a place to find I'm so happy that I did. They have everything! They even sell cigarettes at the front counter, which threw me off at first, but they are the cheapest cigarettes I have ever witnessed in this town. The selection of cigarettes is the same as everywhere else, but the prices are about a dollar or less give or take. last thing, have to address this someone said the one thing they didn't like. Is that the pet store sold candy and cigarettes. Thus not giving them a five out of five star review despite everything else being great. I wanted to say that to stay in business this is likely a move that needed to be made in order to compete with big pet supply stores and keep their prices competitive * ** regardless of whether candy or cigarettes offends one, the rareness and necessity for local business should outweigh any vices one may find brackish. this is a commendable business move, and I applaud it and would help other stores can follow in order to stay in business. That's just the way it is and the bonus is that one is never forced to purchase a product they do not desire despite running the risk that the particular product may appears in one's peripheral.** *
