I got called back to work and needed to get everything in order for my pet sitter on very short notice. I was not only able to get cat food and litter, the vet on duty worked me in to get their vaccines that day. I appreciate their efforts to help me get in and out with such short notice! This store is not clean to anyone's standards and needs some serious attention from Corporate. They are 'ok' but I'm not sure what to say after having taken my Morkie there off and on over the years, I tried to make an appointment for September and was blocked from doing so. When I called the store I was told that my 14 year old, weighing about 9 lbs. could not be groomed there any more because of 'biting' issues. HMMmmmm; nobody had mentioned this to me before so I am not believing she bit anyone.. I had taken her to Petsmart for years since she was a puppy and they did not have this issue. SO, I am a bit 'miffed' to hear them say she was a 'biter'? Weird! I do not believe it. Petco groomers does not do the professional cuts like Petsmart, but they are also less expensive, but it is what it is and I get it; they do not want my business so I shall stop buying their products as well. read more

I can't really recommend Pet o because they don't have a very good selection and it seems the stuff they should have in stock is always out of the products. Forget about asking anyone advice, questions or help with anything. It seems they're understaffed and really only have 1-2 if you're lucky enough to get a second cashier when it gets busy. I have done business for years at the Chad Drive, Eugene, OR store and always found it a pleasure. Unfortunately, I signed my new dog up for training (beginner and intermediate) in October. Nobody on their staff warned me that the Wednesday classes at 3 pm are immediately adjacent to the area where the pet adoption people and people seeking pets to adopt are located. Understandably, the adoption creates a lot of noise from all these people and dogs. The training session is conducted in an area immediately adjacent with only partitions separating the training dogs and their owners from the pet adoption people and pets. The trainers are not the same from week to week and communication between customers and trainers regarding the class schedule is a BIG problem. One trainer announced there would not be a class for the next two weeks, due to the shortage of Petco trainers. Because of the incredible noise, I couldn't hear that properly. Class was held the next week. Petco did not call me to tell me that the class would, after all be held, so I missed it. The following week I happened to have the intuition to call Petco and ask if class would be held that week and was informed that it would! (This happened one hour before class.) I scrambled down to the class and found only one other student with dog had showed up for class. I believe Petco never called anyone about the classes being held after all. I have a 24-7 answering service which registered no calls from PETCO. I was unable to hear almost anything the trainer said during this class. All the trainers have been lovely and excellent and had to strain their voices but were barely, if at all, audible over the adoption noise. The dogs in training were adversely affected by the surrounding tumult as usual. I have been offered a brief make-up class and a book for the missed class, but two sessions are a lot for a pup to learn in one week to get up to speed with the rest of the class. In short, Petco's dog training program has been a MESS and not worth the money. read more

Petco, you let us down. Booked a grooming appointment a week in advance on the Petco website. Confirmed the appointment for Friday morning at 8am. Showed up 15 minutes early with the dog and was met at the door by an employee informing me that the groomer had called in and cancelled all appointments for that day. I had just driven 25 minutes in from out in the county to get to this store. And just as I pulled in to the parking lot, the store was calling me to cancel. This is unprofessional behavior on the groomer's part, and unacceptable to only get notified right when I arrived. Very unhappy with this location. read more

Writing this to make everyone aware of their new return policy. I accidentally purchased something I didn't need, came back in 30 seconds later, and they told me I couldn't get my cash back due to a new policy I wasn't made aware of. The first cashier was rude and obviously doesn't care enough to let costumers know about policies and rolled her eyes when I asked to make a PetCo account. The guy in the fish department was very nice and helpful though. But do yourself a favor and shop at Petsmart instead!! At least they'll give your money back if you return something. The people in charge of the fish need to be fired. Went in yesterday bought a fish and noticed there was a dead clownfish which I understand that happens. Went back in today and noticed that the same dead clownfish was left in the tank that we had bought a fish out of. His body now white was just left on display for everyone to see. Next went and looked at the gold fish only to notice about 30 or 40 dead goldfish in the tank. Nobody at Petco cleans out the tanks? Nobody knows how to take care of something as easy as a goldfish? On 12/24/21 we went into petco. We frequent this location often as from our experience the aquarium employees are helpful. However, yesterday we were very surprised to see they had placed figure-eight puffer fish with some Mollys, and the puffer fish were essentially hunting and killing the mollies. This is surprised us because anyone who knows about puffers know they are carnivorous-the mollies were setup to suffer and eventually die. Even the employee said they were carnivores when I told him the other fish needed help because they were being eaten. They had mollies in tanks surrounding the puffer tank as well so we are very confused as to why whoever thought it was a good idea to pair some with puffer fish. A simple small thing to many, but it should be simple enough to not happen. It makes it easier to continue switching all of my shopping to small businesses, as the ones I goto would never do such a thing and let the little creatures suffer. read more

I come here for the bulk dog treats, my fur ball loves the Teddy graham treats and the other goodies they have in bulk! I would buy her dog food here too but they don't carry what she eats and it's really not that close to where I live so on a special day for the fur ball I take her here to restock the treats that I keep in my glove box so she doesn't get mad at the gas station attendants who don't have them. I scheduled an appointment for a bath/cut for my westie yesterday. I brought her in today at the scheduled time and they said that I didn't have an appointment scheduled. No problem tho, she got my little girl right in. I picked her up this afternoon and she shook as soon as she got in the car. Hair went everywhere. Got home, I smelled her & she smelled like metal from the clippers. I could tell she had not been given a bath. All 3 girls I came in contact with were very nice. Although, I payed for a service that I did not get. So, regretfully I will have to find a different groomer. And that's very unfortunate because I live right up the street. They have pretty decent service but will change your pets grooming appointment on a whim (literally the day before) without even calling to discuss if the time they choose will work for you. Just send a text or email as if you don't have a life and are working with your own schedule. They won't allow you to reschedule either. I've lost hope for this location, which is a real bummer because the gateway location is even worse. read more

When I walk into a pet store and it smells clean and not like animals or urine, I am an instant fan. We adopted a new kitty this week and were over near Petco and stopped in to pick up a few things. First off, you can go in with your pet and my cat was fascinated by the toys and we chose the one she played with most. Good call, since I wanted the sparkly one, ha. They have people who will help clean up the pet accidents and it's apparent they stay on top of it. Great selection of healthy foods and treats for your pampered friend. This review is for the grooming establishment. If I could give you zero stars, I would. I had my poodle groomed here several times a year for six years. I paid extra to have her teeth brushed. You always assured me her teeth looked "good" or "great" and that they were in generally good shape. She was an older dog at this point, almost 12, and diabetic, when I took her to the vet. She was having problems chewing. I was informed that all of her teeth had rotted and an infection had spread. She had hardly any teeth left. It was one of several reasons I ended up having to put my dog down. I still cannot believe that you never told me that her teeth had been rotting and falling out over the last year of her life. The only thing I can think of is that you never brushed her teeth at all. You probably never even looked at them. I sincerely regret ever trusting you and I hope no one else ever gets put in my situation. read more

Took my two huskies today for their grooming appointments. When we picked them up both of them were still dirty and it looked like they didn't really get a bath. I paid for the deshed treatment and both of the dogs have clumps of hair coming off you can grab by your hand. Not very happy after paying over $70 for each dogs service. read more

Excellent experience! I went looking for a dog coat for "Ruby". I had 4 employees helping Ruby for a proper fitting, trying on clothes, looking through all their clothes on their shelves for the size we needed, and having fun while doing it! It was all about Ruby. They loved her, gave her a lot of attention, and feed her treats with my permission. We found a great coat for Ruby! Now I am walking around the store just looking around. An employee showed up and I explained a problem I am having with my cat. She gave some good feedback, and showed us some things that may help, some items that I had not known existed. This location seems to be way worse in treating Betta fish than the one at Springfield there was one literally dying at this location from fin rot It makes me sad that when you go pick up a new pet for your kid and they end up crying because all the depressed and dead fish it's traumatic I felt like petco had more standards to treat animals and they were ahead of other chain pet stores this is disappointing read more

We stop by this location every 1-1.5 months to pick up our pup's food and have only had excellent interactions with the staff. All of the employees seem to really care about all types of animals, share cute stories about their own furry family members, and are knowledgable about products and where to find everything within the store. Today, a really fabulous lady (already forgot her name - sorry!) was super helpful and patient as we asked questions about the dog food brand we buy. Overall, prices are a little higher than you might find elsewhere or ordering online (Amazon, etc.) but this Petco definitely makes up for it with customer service!! read more

I checked my iPhone which showed they were closing in 4 minutes which I was unaware of otherwise I would've come tomorrow. Luckily for her I had one item to buy and knew exactly where it was. Was back checking out with her within 2 minutes. She was rude again at checkout. I noticed she had locked up early while I was inside and there was a customer waiting outside. An employee at this Petco was notified that one of their many betta fish was ill. Instead of taking the animal to the back to treat it, this man took the betta outside, using the front door, and returned without the cup the fish was in. He threw the animal away. The majority of the bettas in this store have extreme cases of fin rot, a condition brought on by water high in ammonia from rotting fish waste. The time I went to this location before, it was clear that the water had not been changed in quite a while, as in many of the cups there was not even enough water to cover the top fin of the fish. Many of the cups contained rotting fish waste as well, and a few of the cups had fish who had been dead for some time in them. The conures have had dirty water bowls every time I have been in to this store. This time the bowls were full of water that had gone green and had old bits of food in it. Each conure cage is less then a quarter of the size of the parakeet display, these cages also contain only one perch each. The desert reptiles (bearded dragons and leopard geckos) here are all kept on sand, a substrate that is easy to accidentally ingest when hunting crickets, and that can lead to deadly cases of impaction. The two tokay geckos had nothing in their tank to climb on, the only décor in the tank was a trio of short fake bushes. read more

Back on May 3, 2019 I went into the Petco on Valley River Drive, Eugene Oregon. A young woman named 'Lydia' helped me with a very entailed multiple purchase/discounts. I was so impressed with her pleasant manner while guiding me through a confusing purchase. She was patient, cheerful, and used good logic to accomplish what I needed. I walked out feeling I had stellar personal service. Shortly thereafter, I broke my back and haven't been able to leave a thank you until now. The training is awesome. My wife and I appreciate Andrea (trainer) and Holly(manager) they always have great attitudes and very positive. My concern is the restroom and the cleanliness there. Being a dog friendly environment it would be nice to have restrooms that were clean well taken care of. Outside of that, great! read more
