We've been bringing our lab Schatzi to Central Bark for over three years. The staff love her, and she loves them back. All the pups are vetted before being admitted, so we've never had to worry about aggression from other dogs. And they're super attentive, even calling me at work once when they spotted a small wound that I didn't notice that morning (she got it hiking through brush with her dad the previous evening; it was minor, but I so appreciated their concern). I've been thinking about writing this review for a long time. I brought my 2 dogs into CB over a year ago. The staff were very friendly but ultimately they lost our business and here's why: My older dog had a hard time there. He's nervous. At pickup we were told he actually bit the handler, because he tried to escape the kennel and he grabbed him suddenly. He reassured me that "dogs bite for a reason" - which is true. I actually felt bad about the injury and we didn't take him back. One staff member said he could return, but the staff member who was bitten implied that he probably will never acclimate to them. My other dog is social and confident. She returned a couple times for doggy play dates. I liked her having somewhere to be and something to do while I worked. However, CB requires you bring your dog at least once a week for them to be able to socialize with the dog groups. This is financially problematic for me. I could probably do every other week, but that wasn't sufficient for them. They know the dogs temperaments and they're all familiar with each other, so the weekly requirement is such a price gouge. Without those weekly visits, she'd be confined to one on one play with the humans only. That sucks. The real final problem for me was a social media post I saw, almost a year ago. They posted a dog recipe for something that included garlic. Garlic is apparently a controversial topic. I responded to their story that garlic is toxic to dogs. See the photo along with this review. They responded that garlic is ok in small amounts, despite the known toxin. This was bewildering to me. Why would you post anything that could potentially harm a dog? What if the recipe is wrong? What if a dog is more sensitive than others? The logic here is "toxins in small amounts are ok" and I cannot get behind a place that thinks that. I'm leaving my dog in their care. What else might be ok in small amounts? A little bit of mishandling is ok? A little bit of other toxins? As long as they survive it's ok? Where is the line? The mistrust here tipped the scale to never returning. read more

We have been taking our goldendoodle here for grooming for maybe a year. There was nothing special about the grooming but the job got done. Except for nails, she would never do the nails - even upon request. The communication is not that great, but we just made it work because of how hard it is to find groomers right now. Today is an appointment for our dog. He's way behind schedule because of the holidays, but we originally had an appointment 2 weeks ago. First it was canceled because of the ice storm (understandable), then it was canceled because the groomer alledgedly couldn't get to work because of car issues. This morning - one hour before our appointment. The groomer decides to share with me for the first time ever, that he has a hard time settling down and sometimes getting him down the hall into the salon. She wants to reschedule AGAIN, because she's just now mentioning to me that he's stressed and they have more dogs on-site. We were not available and asked if we could still come in today and schedule the next one for a weekend when it's quieter. She tells me no, he's too stressed and she has to refer me to someone else. SHE COULDN'T HAVE MENTIONED THIS 2 WEEKS AGO?? Or at ANY other time besides one hour before the appointment? I do not recommend this place and we won't be returning. I'm sure they could care less since it's hard to find open spots. read more

I have a very energetic spunky 1.5 year old Boston Terrier who will destroy and chew his way through amazing things (sometimes I'm so amazed I'm not even mad!) when bored. I work 12 hour shifts and had been using a dog walker, twice a shift for 30 mins a time, to help with potty and keep him exercised. Despite this-destruction still happened. After his first day of daycare Eugene (my adorable Bostie) was fantastically happy and exhausted. I got a wonderful report card on how his day went and how he played with other dogs, things they noticed, and anything I should watch out for. The structured day includes quiet alone time interspersed between play sessions, and for a little extra you can even include training, enrichment, a full groom/bath because they have an on-site professional groomer with a pet salon. I used their grooming services for my dog Hazel, and they were amazing! Hazel has lots of anxiety when being groomed, but the groomer did a fantastic job with her. She even came out wagging her tail when I picked her up. I've used lots of groomers over the years with my family's pups, and Central Bark is one of my favorites. We started at this daycare after a not great experience with one of their competitors, and so far it's going great! They take the time to really get to know your dog, and keep the group sizes small enough where restructuring is easy if necessary, but thankfully so far that hasn't been needed. Our dog is super excited at drop off and truly happy to see all of the staff--and we her humans are incredibly thankful for their flexibility, great communication, and general kindness. The Central Bark team is wonderful. We brought our shy, under-socialized pup for daycare once a week, and CB helped her gain confidence, play skills, and to get more comfortable playing in groups! She went from really nervous the first few days to being so excited to jump out of the car and go play with her dog friends and the humans too. I couldn't recommend Monika and James and their team highly enough. They take care of the dogs as if they were their own, and the birthday celebrations are especially cute. read more

All the employees were super nice and the facility is very nice. However, when I spoke to the groomer at drop off, I was VERY clear about what I wanted and even showed a picture and when I picked my dog up, it was not even remotely what I wanted. It's not a bad haircut, just not at all what I showed the groomer and definitely not my dogs best look :( read more
