Every day I wake up without the love of my life,she was the most special husky wolf.She was my everything.Because of the neglect and lack of care by this facility,and their untrained staff,she's dead. I was rescuing a foster puppy but hadn't been informed that she had been exposed to distemper,until after she arrived. I hurriedly got my 4 dogs into boarding even though they were vaccinated,I wanted to keep my wolf safe,since our last foster gave her kennel cough. The morning I was supposed to pick up my pack,I got a call as I was heading out the door.One of my dogs was dead,they wouldn't tell me who,even though they knew. I was in shock but tried to keep everything straight so when I finally had time to process it,I would have all the facts committed to memory in order. I arrived and saw the love of my life on a rolling cart. She was covered in blood. Her jugular had been severed and her intestines eaten out. After kissing her face and telling her I loved her more than anything,I wanted to see my other dogs.One of my dogs had many cuts on her so the staff thought she was guilty,but that dog is very submissive,afraid of everything,and she worshipped my wolf.The reason she had so many cuts was because the dog who killed my wolf went after her first. The best friend of the wolf had broken a tooth probably from trying to intervene.She also had bite marks on her face so the guilty dog had also gone after her. When I asked Cody what happened he said he had heard lots of barking around 4a,but it ended quickly. Upon asking him 2 other times,once he responded he only heard a scuffle no barking,and the last time he said no one heard anything. The first time I asked him about what happened that day,he said he fed them after I left but I said I was here until 2 and you said you fed them at 2 for their last meal.He said oh then I fed them at 1 because you were coming.Then he didn't check on them again until the next morning at 7a.1p to 7a is a long time to keep 4 big dogs together in a space that no more than 2 small dogs should share,especially when their own rules say no more than 2 dogs would be kept together at a time. The next time I asked what happened he said he fed them at 2p and they all wanted to be together in the same space. Well that's not true,because my wolf and her best friend were terrified to go into the barn.I don't even want to think about what they went through to make them that afraid to go into the barn,but my dogs were brave,so it must not have been good. The 3rd time I asked what happened that day Cody said,I followed your written directions.I said well that can't be right because my directions said to feed them 12 hours apart and you stop feeding them at 2p you said. Months afterwards he says that I had been feeding them when I visited,which I wouldn't do,because that's THEIR job.So that means they were being starved the whole time they were there.They were getting breakfast maybe,but then I would visit so they weren't being fed dinner,not at 2p,or7p like instructed in writing on their paperwork. So then,they didn't feed them,kept all 4 big dogs stuck together like sardines in a tiny little cell,that was hot,that they didn't let out for 17 hours!!!And then they tried to skirt their accountability by saying I was feeding them when I wasn't,which only proves Cody wasn't feeding them either. ALL of this could have been avoided if Cody had checked with me,hey your dogs are all together in the same cell,should I separate them,like they had supposedly been doing?And I would've said yes,separate them.Or if Cody had asked hey,when you visited,did you feed them?I would've said no,because that's your job.Just like it's your job to follow your own rules of not having more than 2 dogs together at a time. And now...I get to wake up screaming out of dreams periodically,though this happened 7 months ago,and I can't stop missing my dog who died so tragically,who was then vomited up by the dog who killed her,and that dog had to be euthanized because she could never be around other animals safely again.I have 2 dogs left who are traumatized,one of whom was blamed by the staff because they couldn't figure out that she was attacked first.Yet Cody still works there,the staff still defends him,when he's completely in the wrong,can't read dog behavior at all,didn't do his job,completely neglected feeding them or letting them out,for 17 hours!!!And I will never get my love back :( Now that they are being completely dismissive,and didn't even bother with an investigation,or holding Cody accountable for his negligence,now I can't stay quiet. I know I can't be the first to have my pets be treated badly,or neglected,and I'm terrified for anyone who brings their pets there. Please keep your animals safe and take them ANYWHERE else. I miss my wolf girl every day.She's never out of mind,nor is my guilt for taking her to the place where she would meet her death,due to their lack of care,neglect and dismissive behavior. read more

When I arrived at the kennel to drop off my dog they seemed unaware that I had a reservation for boarding. Saying "they forgot to write it down". I was scheduled to pick my dog up on a Tuesday (dropped off Saturday AM), however I was going to be delayed and not going to be able to be back until Wednesday. I called the kennel to discuss at 3pm on Monday. I received no answer so left a message. There was no return call that night and I called again at 8 am Tuesday, no answer again. After leaving another message I called every hour that morning. Finally I asked my son to leave work to go get my dog as I was overwhelmed with worry. When he arrived to pick up my dog they were unable to locate all the items I had brought in and were generally disorganized. I can't say that my dog was mistreated but he was certainly stressed. While I was panicking about my dog Tuesday morning I unfortunately found a very sad review on Yelp about West Eugene Kennel. I would recommend finding kennel services elsewhere. I have been trusting Terry and his team with my dogs for thirteen years, and I've never been disappointed. They let my little 5-pound Chihuahua stay in the office, cuddling with them when he wasn't running out in the yard (he's in one of the pictures on their website). And, most recently, they've pampered my Brittany Spaniel - they know how much she loves belly rubs. I chose this kennel to ease my dog, Jack, back into a little socialization after a three year break from having to kennel him while I travel. Since I'm newer to the area, I trusted the reviews. It's like the reviews were talking about a completely different place. When I picked up my dog, I pulled in and heard a man yelling at the kenneled dogs. I don't know what dog he was yelling at but my dog was caged in the same area. Not ok. Jack is highly anxious as it is and doesn't enjoy any loud sounds at all. I couldn't wait to get him out of there. Biggest mistake, trying this place out for my future kennel needs. I'm going elsewhere. Very disappointing. We met with Terry, the owner, to arrange for boarding for our dog. Terry was friendly (overly) and answered all of our questions. When we called to change some dates, Terry was rude and short, and did not listen. He gave excuses that the kennel was closed on Tuesday, when the website clearly states that they are open 7 days a week. He was upset that we wanted to bring our dog out around 5:30, when their website clearly states that are open until 6 with an appointment, which we were trying to do. Terry seems to be in business for Terry, not for the dogs and owners like he states. I would never recommend this kennel to anyone------ever. read more

My dog Hiro is a 2-1/2-year-old shiba inu who is great with people but... well... let's just say "iffy" with other dogs (half the time he wants to play, while the other half of the time he clearly wants to do nothing more than rip their faces off). I know that can be challenging for a kennel to deal with, but I've taken him to stay at West Eugene Kennels three or four different times now, and the owners and staff have had nothing to say but good things about him and his experience with them--the owner even chuckled when I picked him up last time and said he was "quite the personality." I knew I had to post a positive review for these guys when I dropped Hiro off a few days ago before leaving for the East Coast for Christmas and Europe for New Year's. Without even asking for it, I was offered a 20% discount for Hiro's 3-week stay, even though I was fully prepared to pay full price. This bonus, coupled with the fact that I know he is always well cared for when he is staying here, made me a very happy customer. Thanks guys! read more

I only give it a star because of the Manager Maddie. 12/22/2016 We planned a trip to California over the Christmas weekend. Since this was a flying trip, we looked to board our dog during this time. Our regular kennel was already booked for this weekend, a full three months in advance. I heard a couple of good things about West Eugene Kennel and thought I would give it them chance. Called and made reservations. I took Sherman to West Eugene Kennels for the first time today. and I drove there one Saturday Morning just to find out where they were and to drop off Sherman's shot records if the office was open. I really did not expect to speak with anyone but the owner happened to be there and stressed about appointment times which was fine, but he did take the time to give me paper work and to double check dates for Sherman. I live in Veneta and this kennel is on the way to work. On Thursday Dec 22nd , my drop off date, I got to West Eugene Kennels about 15 minutes early knowing my appointment was at 8:00. I stayed in the car while they were busy letting out all the dogs in the yard. I got out of the car since it was such a nice morning and walked around and spoke with Maddie who said they were busy letting all the dogs out and I told her "no worries I am just walking around until my 8AM appointment". I got back into the car to wait until my appointment time. The owner came to the driver's side of the car and I got out to greet him. As soon as I did, he started yelling at me how I had made it so stressful for him because I arrived early and how I was disrupting their routine. I told him I was sorry and that was not my intention and I was on my way to work and I arrived early to make my appointment. He then stated "So you are more important than our dogs" at that point I asked him to please calm down which he did not and he just kept getting angrier and no matter how calm I was trying to stay and asking him to calm down. I continued apologizing for coming early, but he just would not listen. As I was then getting Sherman out of the car, he is yelling at me. At this point I was struggling with myself whether to leave Sherman with this man, who is so angry. How will he treat Sherman? I am in tears at this point and I said to him "I know you are angry with me but please do not take it out on Sherman while he is here". Then Terry the owner went ballistic on me throwing up his arms and yelling how dare I think he would take it out on Sherman and told me to get off his property and he threw up his arms and walked away leaving me and Sherman standing there in utter confusion of what I had done to set this man off. I was humiliated and crying because I had never been treated like that before. I did not know what to do since I was flying out the next day to California and Sherman had nowhere else to go. The Manager Maddie came over to find out what was going on and she could see how upset I was and calmed me down. I let her know what had happened and I had no intention to disrupt their schedule. Maddie apologized for the Owner and stated that they just had been under a lot of pressure with but that was not excuse of how he treated me. I was going to leave with Sherman, knowing I had nowhere to take him because everyone was booked. Maddie assured me that Sherman would be well taken care of and told me she could send me pictures of how he was doing. I did not know what to do but she made me believe that she truly cared and meant it. I left Sherman with her in the hopes that my instincts about Maddie were true. After getting to work, I did try to find another Kennel, but with Christmas only 3 days away, there wasn't anything available and when I e-mailed Maddie, she responded right back and told Sherman was doing really well. Maddie kept in contact with me while I was in California which I truly appreciated and when I did pick Sherman up she apologized again. I thanked her for taking care of Sherman and told her that I would never be back. Maddie's was a god send but I will never ever put Sherman there again and will never recommend the West Eugene Kennel to anyone...sorry Madison because you were wonderful and do not deserve to be working for someone who can get so angry so fast. Thank heavens the doggies have you to take care of them. In all my years I have never been treated so horribly and shame on the owner of West Eugene Kennels. No one should be treated the way he treated me. If he treats people like he did me, I have extreme doubts about how he treats our beloved pets who we put our trust in him to take care of. WEST EUGENE KENNELS treats my puppy like family, with heated and air conditioned comfortable ( NO COLD CEMENT) stalls, on site business owners, and a wonderful knowledgeable staff; I feel safe leaving ooba there for a weekend, and if necessary, a longer stay! The dogs get to play with one another(if they are social) in large yards where I have routinely seen staff joining in on the fun, and if your dog is special needs, they have a special building and yard just for them with plenty of one on one time for scratches and snuggles with the staff! 5 stars for you WEK read more

West Eugene Kennels is GREAT! Terry and the handlers are wonderful with the dogs. This facility allows each dog their own large, indoor, heated kennel. During the day, all the dogs get to run around a fenced in field. It's perfect! When I had my dog here, I felt comfortable knowing she was safe AND got to run around and play everyday. Terry and the handlers were even nice enough to text me pictures of my dog while I was gone. It is great to see people that care about their clients. Also, for the price, West Eugene Kennels was a great find. I've since moved back to California, but for anyone in the Eugene area looking for a great boarding facility in Oregon - look no further. I got lucky finding this kennel when we had to leave dog Shadow for 4 weeks. Terry and his staff were so welcoming, listened to my needs and concerns for Shadow, and took brilliant care of him. Dogs are housed in stalls, and if your dog is social, can be placed with a companion. There was no frantic barking, jumping, or anxious behaviors among the animals. They are let out to play four times a day, each has his own chart with owner instructions regarding meals, meds, special needs. I can't say enough great things about this kennel! We boarded our dogs here while we went on a trip to Hawaii and they took excellent care of them. They also were more than happy to text us pictures. We were leaving for a 5 day trip to Canada and our dog was only 6 months old. We made an appointment to visit the kennel! We greeted immediately when we arrived, they gave us detailed tour of the area, and openly welcomed our dog. In fact, we decided to give it a trial run that night, just to see how he would do in a kennel situation. We went back to pick him up the next day. They gave us a full report on how he did, what to expect (he could be tired and sore from playing), and we made our reservations for him during Canada. While in Canada, we knew he was in great hands. Terrible experience. I picked up my dog just as they were opening, though the original plan was to pick him up at noon, after a four day stay. I headed home a 3 hr drive to my place from Eugene, He wouldn't stop crying. I gave him food he would not eat ( very unusual). Then he started to bark out the car window and howeled in pain. After three times I pulled over thinking something was stuck in his throat. What do I find!!! an electric shock collar!!! that stops him from talking loud or barking. Titan is a 13 year old Black Lab not in the best of health, he had never been hurt by a a human in his life. After I took the collar off he still acted wird for 2 days. I would never have kept him there if I lknew this is what they do. I'm writing this to save any other dogs from this experience. I'm telling every animal related agency in Eugene about this. My vet is furious. I will be pressing charges. I do believe given time they would have removed the collar and I never would have known. They told me he was a perfect guest as I left. read more
