While the staff are polite, the fact that they wanted to charge me $89 for an antibiotic on their "wellness plan" that cost $20 literally anywhere else WITHOUT their "wellness plan" shows that they are massively upcharging patients. They also charged me almost $500 to have my cat put down, AGAIN that is the cost AFTER the "wellness plan" (which by the way you are purchasing a "yearly plan" that you CANNOT CANCEL EVEN IF YOUR PET IS DEAD), with the other option being to allow my pet to basically just suffer. If they try to sell you a "wellness plan" DO NOT go for it! It is NOT insurance like they will try to claim! It is just a way to get you to pay them money every month and EVEN IF YOUR PET DIES you are STILL REQUIRED TO PAY FOR IT because they will NOT let you cancel it until the end of the year you signed up! Doesn't matter that you have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars with them, they will find a way to justify that you still owe them money and they will refuse to cancel it. They /might/ offer to cancel "one month" of it (the literal last month that you already wouldn't be paying) to "help you" but that is it. They literally do not care about animals at this company, they only care about profit. This company does nothing but profit off of the desperation of pet owners while throwing their staff in the line of fire to go and upsell as much as possible. Hands down the best vet experience I have ever had. You are greeted by friendly staff at the front desk and they make the check in process so easy. They could probably tell I was anxious to be there due to my dog not doing well. We met with Dr. Franz and the tech Sarah. They were both so wonderful with my dog who was exhibiting new behaviors due to being in pain and anxious. So much patience and compassion shown towards my baby and myself! I wasn't made to feel like a bad dog mom for not knowing what was going on with her. I can not recommend this office enough. Back in March 2025 I wrote a very long & detailed 1 star poor review. I received a call from Dr. Harvey regarding the review & she assured me that my concerns would be addressed. I ultimately removed that poor view; I shouldn't have because things got even worse. Between Banfield, WilSouth & OSU Vet Clinics it took 3.5 months & over $6,000.00 that I didn't have to spend on my ESA, only to determine that my ESA was actually terminally ill. It got so bad I called on March 10th to have my ESA euthanized. I made it abundantly clear what I wanted done, & it wasn't; this mistake cannot be fixed. When I brought my precious ESA in, I asked the front desk if they had an ink pad, I said if they didn't, I would go next door & purchase one. I was told that they did have an ink pad in the back. I made it clear multiple times that I did NOT want a clay paw print, that I wanted an inked paw print of my ESA. That I would be using it to have her paw print tattooed on my ankle & have a laser print of it put on a gold disc pendant. I was told that my ESA's cremated remains would be ready in 2 weeks & I could pick up that inked paw print at the same time. I called on March 31st to see if I could pick up my ESA's remains & inked paw print & I was told that they still had not received the cremains back, but would call me when they had it. I rec'd a call on April 4th that they now had the cremains & I could pick them up at my convenience. On April 6th I picked up the cremains, I got outside and started bawling. There was no inked paw print as I made it abundantly clear that is what I wanted, not a clay paw print, which is what I got. There was a box with my ESA's cremains, a plaque with her name to put on the box, and a certificate of cremation. Again, there was no inked paw print on paper as per my repeated requests. I called on April 8th & was on hold for over 7 mins trying to get through to a live person. I tried again on the 9th, no answer. On April 15th at 1:49pm I missed a call from Banfield. I called back at 1:49pm & my call was "declined". I called Banfield again on April 15th @ 5:50pm & it took forever to get through to a live person. I was upset & furious & reported that I had made it abundantly clear that I wanted an inked paw print on paper of my ESA & did NOT want a clay print because it was useless for what I needed it for. I said this can't be fixed, my ESA is gone and cremated, I can never get that inked paw print now & it should have been done the very day she was euthanized. The front desk said she would check with staff & I was put on hold. When she came back to the phone, she claimed that they had just mailed the paw print to me 3 days ago. That's a lie, that should have been done the day she was euthanized, not a month later after she was handed over to the crematorium. I never recieved a inked paw print in person, in the cremation bag or in the mail a month layer. Now, I question on whether I really recieved my ESA's cremains & same for the clay paw print, which I did NOT want because it can't be used for what I wanted it for. I asked that Dr Harvey call me & the front desk confirmed that I wanted her to call my cell. Days later I see a missed call from Banfield on the landline #. As for the Wellness Plans. All it is, is a pre-pay system. You are prepaying for vaccinations etc. Though you do get a 5% discount on other care. It is not worth it. With the thousands that I paid, I still have to pay about another 9 months of Wellness fee's for a animal that is no longer alive. I provid care for a community cat who is on this Wellness plan & I wanted to cancel, but I still have to pay until Sept/Oct. If you just want vaccinations, go to a clinic held outside of Bi-Mart or other retailer. There is no savings if you have to keep paying that long after the animal is no longer alive. Do your research and get a different pet insurance. Things to consider when choosing a policy, think about: Coverage: Do you want accident only, or do you need illness coverage as well? Reimbursement rates: How much of your vet bills will the policy cover? Deductibles: How much will you need to pay out of pocket before coverage kicks in? Waiting periods: How long do you have to wait before coverage starts for accidents or illnesses? Other benefits: Some policies offer additional benefits like boarding fee coverage or discounts for multiple pets. What makes it worse is when you post a poor review, you get an automated/canned response and it is so unprofessional for any business to do this. read more

I would like to recognize the staff at the South Eugene Banfield Clinic. We have two of our three dogs enrolled in wellness plans there and have had multiple visits over the past month (and year). Today was an especially meaningful visit with our terrified, nervous, anxious, PTSD-diagnosed little one, Hazy May. Hazy was born into a traumatic situation and carries so much anxiety with her every single day. She doesn't like to leave the house, so we had been preparing for spay day, knowing it was going to be a difficult one. I cannot express how much the staff went above and beyond for her today. They did everything possible to make her more comfortable. The care, compassion, understanding, and genuine concern they showed for Hazy May (and me) were beyond exceptional and absolutely blew us away. My husband wasn't able to help today, and the staff stepped in--holding doors, grabbing items I needed from the store, and literally supporting the entire process every step of the way. They were truly the best! All of this happened while they continued to provide excellent care and attention to other customers and patients. They juggle so much and still manage to do it all with a smile. I want to extend my thanks to every staff member at this location. We were there on Sunday--a busy day--and received the same "you're the only one that matters right now" care. We feel that way every single time we visit. It's no secret they stay busy, but they treat every patient as if they are the only one that matters. That takes an incredible amount of emotional, physical, and mental energy, and each of them deserves to hear what an AMAZING job they're doing. Even if you're not a face seen at the counter, you're playing a crucial role behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Every single person there deserves recognition. We set up our account almost a year ago to get my kitten spayed, we were told she required the premium plus account for dental reasons but I have yet to see them do anything dental without it being an additional cost. Then we were told her spay and everything would be fully covered but they had a full waitlist and were not adding to it for 2 months. I called 2 months later to get her on the waitlist, full immediately? Come time for her appointment, we show up and they say doc is sick and we will need to reschedule - they called us maybe minutes before but we were already driving there at 7 am and were not looking at our phones? This happened 3 times that we SHOWED UP to her spay appointment and were told another day. Ridiculous communication and horrible professionalism. And to go back to the plan they required my cat to have, I still had to pay an additional $100 at the end of the procedure. We went to pickup our cat at the pickup time, they said she was unfortunately the last to go and had only finished about an hour ago. She required to stay in recovery for another 2 hours. I received no phone call. I drove across town with no information, we have done this probably 6 times at this location for no reason and with zero communication. Anyways doc sat me down and told me if I took her home it would be a strike on my account and then sat there like a watchdog while I called my partner to see if they could squeeze in driving across town to get her in the middle of our crazy busy night and rush hour. My cat was never meant to have the procedure on this day and it was so hectic for us after it being reschedule 4 times. They have terrible communication and are stealing money. I could've spent $600-800 to get her spayed at a solid vet rather than have been forced to pay $1100-1300 before the year is even up. Wasted so much of my time with this place. I took our puppy in for her new puppy care treatment plan. The first visit the vet and assistant let her explore, gave her treats, and held her. She loved her first vet visit and was very comfortable. A few days later she went in for her exam and puppy shots. When she felt uncomfortable, with the thermometer, the vet cradled her while the assistant took her temperature. So patient and loving with our puppy. The appointment was at 11 am. I asked when I could pick up my dog, and was told between 3 and 4. They would call me. 3 0'clock came, and no phone call. At 3:15, I decided to go there, as it was a long drive. I got there at 3:40 and asked if my dog was ready to be picked up. The receptionist went back to inquire. She came back and said they hadn't taken the x-rays yet. The vet came out and took me into another room. I expressed my concerns as to why my dog has been here since 11 and has not had her x-rays yet. The vet told me I wasn't the only one with a pet who has to be seen today. I told her I had an appointment at 11 and it was now 4. She said, that was a drop off time, not an appointment time. I was not told my dog would not be seen until 4, otherwise, I would not have dropped her off at 11. I do not want her sitting in a cage for 5 hours. They also told me they had tried to call me 3 times. I had no missed calls or voicemails. I even verified that they had the right number. I took my dog, without getting the x-rays, and they still charged me $96 for the "appointment". $96 for my dog to sit in a cage for 5 hours. I was very pleased with Banfield initially and I have been with them for years. They're great as long as you don't have an emergency. I called because I knew my cat was having a urinal blockage. They wouldn't even try to fit him in just said that they would if there was a cancellation and scheduled it for the following morning. With a blockage you can't wait especially when you know they're really suffering. I ended up having to go to a vet hospital which probably cost me way more and I didn't get any discount which is what my banfield's wellness plan is supposed to offer me. This is the second time Banfield let me down in a pet emergency. They've made improvements since the first time but they have a long ways to go. I have met with two of the Vet's here and both were amazing and brought up interesting points on my dog's health. The most recent was a teeth cleaning that I was concerned about as his heart rate dropped (which was in his file) and the Assistant brought up the fact that her dog had the same issue and said she would recommend using a different anesthesia. Viola! Dr Harmon called after the procedure and filled in all the details and asked if I had any questions. Nice. Then, the next morning I get a call from one of the assistants asking if all was OK with Wrigley and how he was doing. I also got an emailed survey and I guess you can imagine how I filled it out. My boyfriend and I brought our dog here for treatment and we were very disappointed with the service. We brought him in because his eyes were red, started in his left eye and spread to the right and he was also in contact with another dog who ended up getting red eyes as well. We told the vet these facts and she dismissed them, ran two tests and told us our dog had dry eye, which she also said was weird because he was so young. She was very unconfident in her diagnosis and when we asked her if it could be a viral/ bacterial infection like pink eye she said "to her knowledge" that is not a thing in dogs. We paid $185 for a misdiagnosis and eye lube for our dog's eye. We called other vets and visited an urgent care because his eye wasn't getting better and he was immediately correctly diagnosed by all of the other vets and was able to get the treatment he needed. So disappointed in the service and the lack of knowledge on the vet's part is concerning. read more

Don't bother buying a Wellness Plan in Eugene/Springfield area because they cannot provide the benefits you are paying for. I had Wellness Plans elsewhere for over 15 years. It was great. But here, you do not get any of those free vet visits because they can't see your pet for 3 weeks. And they had a 3+ month waiting list for dental cleaning. I had to go to the Banfield in Corvallis for that. Then they don't tell you until you get there that X-rays are an additional $250. When my dog became ill, they did not have any appointments for 3 weeks and wouldn't fit my dog in for a follow up after I took her to the ER vet instead. ($$$) The Banfield associate actually said "we are a preventative health vet clinic". As if that's a thing. You have your vet. Not two vets. One for prevention and one when your dog gets sick. Also, they used to have an actual vet for the Vet Chat benefit, which was an awesome help. Now, it's a bot. They still call it Vet Chat though. And they have a disclaimer that the bot can't give you any advice about OTC meds for your dog. Useless. I spent about $600 on care for my dog elsewhere that could have been taken care of with a $30 prescription if I had been able to see my Banfield vet. They do you fit you in right away if you're a new customer, though! They just don't tell you that all the benefits of the Wellness Plan are not actually available when you need them. So they are lying to you as they run your credit card. I think this is business fraud, straight up. read more

The staff here has always shown great care for our cat and the multiple health issues she's had in the last year. She had a big dental surgery earlier in the year that our past vet had scheduled, and the Banfield vet at Willamette kindly sat down with me and went over in depth why the surgeries needed to happen and what she would / wouldn't recommend if it were her cat. I took my newly adopted 2 year old Aussie Pit mix to Banfield on Willamette St. in Eugene for a check up and neuter. They exceeded my expectations!! I was hesitant to take him to a chain veterinarian like Banfield, however he received the best care. The staff were all very knowledgeable and caring, they made me feel so comfortable and informed. My dog was happy to be there and adored everyone on staff. They even clipped his nails while he was being neutered. I am always the first person to recommend local businesses but Dr. Garretson and Dr. Wayland are amazing and I am so grateful to have them as my 'local' Banfield Vet. Thank you! read more

Terrible expierence. After just moving to Eugene my dog got an ear infection. We didn't yet have a regular vet so we took him here out of convince and the price they quoted me on the phone. About 80 dollars. Well come time for his appointment I was at work and my husband had to take him in. They told my husband he wasn't allowed to take OUR dog to the vet. They said they tried to call me at work to authorize him... but we didn't have any missed calls. They refused to see my dog who was crying in pain anytime something touched his ear and was walking sideways because of the ear infection throwing off his equilibrium. I had to reschedule him. My pet needed to be seen due to something stuck in her throat, so I made an appt. the gps took us down a dead end road causing us to be 9 min late. The front desk didn't say much to me expect "I need to ask the vet" and comes back out to say "you will have to reschedule" .... I did not get a sorry, an explanation, and especially did not feel they cared about my pet at all. If she has something lodged in her throat, wouldn't you think that's something to check on? they didn't even ask if she's okay to wait or if it gets worse take to an emergency vet or any suggestion. I got about 5 words from her... I will not be trying this location again. I've never felt like my dog didn't matter to a banfield staff until this location. read more

Wow! We are blown away by this place. We were traveling and our dog seemed to have an infected leg so we called ahead to Reno to get an appointment and they were booked for several days. I took a chance and this hospital got us in the next day at 2:30. I was shocked and thrilled. We arrived at 2:20 and were done before our appointment time was supposed to start. This has been in so many ways the worst vet experience I have ever had. 1st off these people overworked and understaffed. They have in the 6 month period of my wellness plan attended to me late (and im not talking 10 minutes more like 2 hours) or called to significantly delay my scheduled appoint 4 times. When they do finally see my pet they obviously have other things on there mind, come in and out. Visits take upward of an hour and you actually see the vet for about 10 mins. They have new staff all the time. This wouldnt be such a huge issue expect for the fact that they either keep terrible records or their vets dont take the time to read a file. I have gone in and had one vet diagnose and treat my pet only to return for a follow up for a new vet to say oh no thats not it heres a new dignoses give your pet this instead. What is that? Not only does it disregard,l the ultimate health of my pet by bumbarding her body with unnecessarily medications, but its completely unerving to think that they can prescribe with out understanding whats really goong on. Not because its a confusing problem but because the vets are not communicating or reading their files. They will also try to bully you into using their products rather than finding a less expensive alternative. They will recommend services you dont need. Just to make money. And that is the absolute scariest thing about it. It is obvious that the vets at this office are either given incentive to or reauired to put profit above the actual health of your animal. Endnote. Do not get their wellness plan. You cant get out of it with out paying hundreds of dollars. They structure it in such a way that the services most commonly needed by a sick animal are not covered but make it sound great by offering services that are almost never used. So you end up paying for a bunch of services even though you also pay them a monthly bill. They will also choose to do services not covered before those covered by the plan unless you have an understanding of the problem and can catch them before they do this. read more

It's like no one at this hospital takes notes or bothers to read a chart before seeing a patient. My cat has had runny eyes since I adopted him as a kitten, yet every time I come in they try to get me to dye his cornea to look for scratches. They've also started refusing to vaccinate him "until his eyes clear up." He has been on everything they have recommended for his eyes and nothing has done anything for him. I dropped him off one time because he had an abscess in his mouth, 3 hours later they call me saying there's nothing wrong with him. I had to come in and show them the abscess which was clearly visible if they had even bothered to look. I would not recommend this Banfield to anyone. read more

We took our puppy in for a first time check up and to get a micro chip. The vet was very opinionated and didn't offer very much information pertaining to our dogs overall health, instead he was pushing all the vaccines he could think of on us. When I said we'd be taking our dog else where for the vaccines he stopped and said "well what do you want from me then?" I said we are here for a check up and to get a chip, the vet was very short with us after that and had we not used a coupon to cover the cost of the visit I would have complained then and there and refused to pay for anything other than the micro chip. we will not be taking our pets here anymore. read more

I had an appointment to get a health certificate for my pet to fly to Mexico. These are to be done within 10 days of flight. I received a call from Banfield stating the doctor would not be in would I mind rescheduling. I did reschedule. I was late arriving at the clinic and the doctor had moved on to another patient. There was no time for my pet. We were 15 minutes in to our appointment. I was furious as I only had a day and a half left until flight time. I would understand since I was late, however, I had a legitimate reason and I had changed an appointment to accommodate them. There wasn't anyone else in the waiting area. I was told to call and let them know If I was going to be late...it wasn't possible today and there won't be a next time. We won't be returning. read more

I have never used their service nor will I ever. This chain is owned by Mars - yes the M&M makers. It is mainly in this veterinary business to push vaccinations because of the huge profit margin. Pets are commonly being over vaccinated and that can cause some serious health problems. After your pets first vaccinations at 12 weeks have a titer test done in 3 months to see if another vaccine is really needed. Holistic and naturopath vets are saying sometimes it only takes one vaccination per disease and you should spread them out rather than give them all at one time. read more

My first experience with this particular location was an emergency. I had called over 10 different vets (including the location on Chad Dr.) and no one could see me or fit me in (we live in Thurston). I called Banfield on Willamette and they said to immediately bring them my cat in. My cat had a blocked bladder and they worked with tremendously with what we could afford and what we could get by with in diagnosing and treating him. He was a VERY sick kitty. They ended up keeping him 2 nights and then letting us take him home. He made a FULL recovery and if it wasn't for them, he would have died a horrific death. They have checked in with us periodically and we just finished taking him there again for something else and loved the attention and the love they showed to him. Yes, we've had different vets each time but that doesn't bother me. With more vets, they are able to make more visits, get more work done, and help more animals. Where I used to live, there was an animal clinic and there were numerous vets that worked there. You could always request a specific one and I am sure that Banfield would do the same if you asked. read more

My husband and I are SO incredibly impressed with the staff at Banfield! Our Dutch Shepard mixed landed on his leg wrong while playing on Sunday night; he was hurting but he was able to calm down and rest so we waited till Monday to bring him in somewhere to get it checked out. That Monday was unfortunately was Memorial Day, every office was closed except for Banfield. They got us in within an hour and when we got there everyone was so kind and were so involved. Our poor dog peed on himself in the car because he was too uncomfortable to pee outside, and got stressed. The nurse was so kind and helped us clean him up without us feeling bad. The nurses kept coming in and checking up on us while we were waiting for the Doctor. Once the doctor came in she was SO positive and SO warming. She listened to us well and was so great with shazam. She was very clear about everything she was doing and when she decided that we needed to take X-rays she did not give us negative response when we asked for a quote which we have experinced from emergency vets/other vets. She completely understood that we wanted to keep a clear understanding of the budget and let us know what was flexible and what wasn't flexible which made us feel like we could take her word. Once she let us know that Shazam did indeed break his leg she walked us through everything without making us feel rushed or feeling like we didn't get enough information. She also did not make us feel like we only had one option in going to the orthopedic vet they suggested, they encouraged us to go to our vet if they felt comfortable to do the procedure that he needed. They didnt give us any pressure to come back or to do whatever they wanted. Also the nurses put an ADORABLE heart on Shazam's Splint. If we ever have an emergency where we can't bring our dog into our vet we will always bring him here unstead of the 24-hr emergency vet! read more

I've been seeing the same doctor for the last three years and she is great! They have several doctors that go between this hospital and the North Eugene location and each one I have met between visits to my primary doctor has been fantastic. The Wellness Plans make preventative care affordable for me and my family. This is not an emergency clinic so rating it based on its ability to get me in ASAP is not very fair. My pets are treated like family here and love visiting the staff! read more

I wish I had read these reviews prior to bringing in my 1 adult cat and 2 kittens 2 weeks ago for diarrhea. Almost $400 dollars later they still have it so bad they often don't make it to the litter boxes. It has to be a contagious thing because everyone was fine till I adopted one of the kittens from a high kill rescue area in California, Their feces was tested and they were given medication I put in their food for 3 days with no effect. The doc then prescribed a 7 day treatment of antibiotics. I called yesterday to let the doc know there was absolutely no change to a very very very apathetic man who answered the Banfield Clinic phone. I never did receive a return phone call as requested! The feeling I got from the male was that they would be willing to have all three come in again and and accept even more money for further visits. A friend of mine who works at Greenhill helped be bring in Sammy, Atticus and Lewis on the original visit has been keeping tabs on our progress is also very unimpressed by the healthcare at Banfield. I would have given Banfield only 1 star if it were not for Dr Garretson's and her tech's friendliness on the first visit. With the clinic receiving only substandard reviews I should take my loved ones elsewhere. read more
