Went back for a follow up visit. Wound was not healing. Scheduled exploratory surgery the next day. Removed a large fox tail seed (5/8 inch long). Dog is all healed. The surgery was less than $200. Prompt, efficient, and reasonable!

Dr. Pappas bore the heavy weight of putting him to sleep in our arms and, though we hadn't met her before this, she was extraordinarily sensitive of our emotions and gently explained everything before it happened. She made what felt like the worst day of our lives, a little more positive and manageable when the weight of it threatened to crush us under foot. Although I still can't think too much on this day without crying, I felt the staff involved in Tiki's care deserve all the warmest regards, hugs, and thank yous I can muster. They called us to give their condolences, kept us up to date on Tiki's cremation service, and when we picked up his ashes days later, the package and card were so lovingly put together and you could just feel a gentle human touch in every detail. It felt like the Santa Clara vet family was mourning Tiki right alongside us. We are so grateful for the care Tiki received, and we really wouldn't have had it any other way than with the team at Santa Clara. In one case, I was even given an article that explained in depth what was going on, which was very helpful. They are caring, prompt and efficient. The only issue I have had concerns their charges. First, the cost of prescribed meds which they sell seems quite high. For example, I obtained some calming cat treats from them for ~$33, only to find later that I could get the same thing from Amazon for ~$24. Secondly, for routine immunizations from WEAH there is a charge for the appointment, an exam, and the vaccine, which adds up to a lot. Consequently, I take my cat to the 1st Ave. clinic for his immunizations for a fraction of the cost.

I have taken each of my cats into a vet - NOT THIS CLINIC (I moved from out of state) - in the past, and felt comfortable with the procedure. What I did not know is that, unlike other clinics I have have had great dental cleaning experiences in the past, the owner/ manager of this clinic DOES NOT KNOW and REFUSES or is incapable of understanding her business' "Dental Plan" financial structure. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU as a client: (1) You will be gaslit into accepting random pricing without justification. There was even an attempt to convince me that I should be happy they clipped my cat's nails for free while under anesthesia, versus the $50 they normally charge (that was the only itemized charge they disclosed to me). Ironically, during the previous visit, the veterinarian had commented that I "did a good job" clipping her nails. And nail clipping at ANY other vet has never surpassed $12. (2) You will not be able to submit a full insurance claim (ALL insurance companies require an itemized list of the pricing associated with the services provided). It would be like grocery shopping, seeing a total bill of $900, and never being able to verify WHY that total is what it is. ADDITIONALLY: The client to staff communication is horrible. Horrendous. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. I have been told 3 different things (price-wise, procedure-wise, practice-wise) on the same day that have nothing to do with an adjustment of a quote. poorly managed organization. Ultimately, I am not complaining about price (I can't refute it - the manager can't even explain her pricing), but LACK of QUALITY OF SERVICE. Virtually EVERY single visit was an "OOPS!" FINAL NOTES: I am happily with a new clinic, which I transferred to the day after my sweetie's appointment with this absolute mess of a clinic.

Dr. Lindsay McAlister is such a wonderful human being…read more Our sweet boy, Prometheus, was nearing the end of his adventure here on Earth, and our veterinarian referred us to Dr. Lindsay. We spoke over the phone and scheduled an appointment. Making the decision about when it is time to say goodbye is one of the most difficult things a pet parent will ever face. But sometimes, you just know. We scheduled our appointment for Sunday afternoon, but that morning, Prometheus began declining rapidly. I texted Dr. Lindsay, and she was able to be at our home within 20 minutes. The timing worked out in a way I will always be grateful for. I do want to clarify that I am not suggesting she is on call or always available for emergencies. However, I encourage anyone considering her services to have an open conversation with her about availability and what options may exist in an emergency. The visit itself was calm and peaceful. Dr. Lindsay showed so much compassion and kindness, and her approach was genuinely trauma-informed. She explained the process, walked us through what she would be doing, and made sure we understood what to expect. One thing I would share with other pet parents is that if you are uncomfortable watching injections, it is absolutely okay to look away or step out briefly during the first one. The initial injection can sting because the area is sensitive, and every dog may react differently depending on their individual tolerance and other factors. A reaction does not necessarily mean something is wrong. Just as with vaccines or other injections, there can be some discomfort. Dr. Lindsay was incredibly gentle throughout the process, and I appreciated the care she took with Prometheus. She also gives you all the time you need to sit with your baby, love on them, and say goodbye. There is no feeling of being rushed. When you are ready, she gently completes the transition with dignity, respect, and compassion. Another wonderful thing about Dr. Lindsay is that she offers aquamation, an alternative to traditional cremation that uses water-based processing. Having that option was meaningful to us. As heartbreaking as this experience was, I can honestly say that everything came together as it needed to for Prometheus. The timing, the peaceful environment, and the compassion Dr. Lindsay showed our family made an incredibly difficult day a little easier to bear. Saying goodbye is never easy, but having someone who treats your beloved pet with such tenderness and respects the bond you share makes a world of difference. I am so grateful Dr. Lindsay was there to help us give Prometheus the peaceful, dignified goodbye he deserved.
