This place is a revolution in vet care! I have a shy dog who has always been nervous at the vet. The team at Healing Paws went above and beyond to ensure her comfort during the exam. The clinic is peaceful and calming for both pets and people. Dr. Jacoby is AWESOME! I have never met a veterinarian who is so knowledgable about nutrition and behavior. Dr. Jacoby truly made me a part of my dogs' care by taking the time to understand my dogs personality, preferences, and needs as well as my own. Healing paws is also a great resource for pet food, supplements, and supplies. We do not have a good, local pet supply store in Eugene that understands pet nutrition and behavior the way Healing Paws does. It is great to have them as a resource in our community! read more

Up until today, my review would have been 5+ stars. The care has been good and the staff is wonderful. Unfortunately, our happy relationship of more than ten years is broken. Within the past few weeks, our 13 1/2 yr. old German Shepherd, Lena, has had more health issues than usual. I've had to call several times to get advice or to schedule an appointment. I had to reschedule an appointment I'd made because my husband wasn't able to be with me and I can't manage my 85-lb. shepherd by myself - her hind legs don't function. I called ahead so they could hopefully use that time slot. I missed the rescheduled appt. - it was totally on me. I have reasons, but I admit my fault. Wow, I was completely blown away by the reaction from the vet (I assume Dr. Jacoby instructed the the staff whose job it was to confront me). I got a call from the clinic to let me know that a refill was ready, and, at the same time, I was told brusquely that I'd have to bring Lena in within the next 2 months in order to continue receiving the med. Oh, and also, because I'd missed the last two appts., I would be required to prepay for any further visits for the next year. Our dog doesn't have a year left. When I made a comment about how, obviously, I'd paid for every visit at the time, I was told that prepaying would be an incentive for me to keep my appointments. I hadn't, apparently, needed an incentive to keep an appointment for the previous 10 1/2 years. Maybe this is the new normal in veterinary offices. If so, it's sad. I've been a loyal and consistent client of this clinic - we've spent thousands of dollars, sometimes for treatment that wasn't absolutely necessary but was suggested, and I tended to trust the vet. I purchased expensive raw food that was recommended. I purchased expensive supplements that, it was hinted, were necessary for my dog's well being. What caring pet lover wouldn't take the vet's advice. I mistakenly thought that loyalty was a two-way street and that being a really good customer might have earned me a break for the mistake I made. In the 10+ years I've been visiting Healing Paws, I know I've had to reschedule, but I don't remember flat out missing an appointment. If I was such a flake, I think I'd have been fired way before now. So, notice that I still gave the clinic four stars - that's because, even though this was a really unpleasant interaction for me (and I'm sure for the staff that had to confront me) I still think Dr. Jacoby is a caring vet and has been good to Lena. Too bad there wasn't as much kindness and consideration for Lena's human. Just business, I guess. read more

I am very particular about vets and vet hospitals since I come from a dog training and dog breeding family. My mother was a vet tech and my father worked as a K9 enforcement officer in Texas so we would deal with most situations at home. I have been most pleased with Elise, Amy and Jennifer. Elise provides Hollistic care for you pet and offers you all the options to help your pet whether hollistic or not. I became a forever client after Elise was able to help me diagnose my 14yr old GSD with pneumonia when a conventional vet wasn't. Since then my old gal Delta has made an amazing recovery and is doing better than ever. Elise and I chatted and decided to put delta on a homeopathy treatment while also doing acupuncture every few months as needed. Delta is more mobile and is more alert and happier than ever, my regular customers that come to the shop and those that just come to see Delta have noticed the difference! Thank you Elise and Girls!! This is not an ordinary clinic and I mean that in the best way. It is an exceptional place. They are thorough, efficient, kind, compassionate and clearly have our pets best care in mind. The exam rooms have a couch and carpet to make pets and humans comfortable; completely opposite from the typical harsh rooms at other vet clinics. Our dogs always feel right at home here and so do we. The staff are versed in holistic and conventional treatment modalities. In all my years of having pets this place does the most complete exams ever. We love our dogs dearly. They deserve the best treatment and it is our job to see that they receive it. That is why we bring our miniature poodle and our mixed breed to Healing Paws. read more

I have an appointment in august for two of my dogs to get spade and neutered. Iam a little nervous cuz my boy is a tea cup Chihuahua and he weights like a pound and half maybe two pounds at the most, I don't want anything to happen to him but my friends told me about them so I hope every thing goes well. and my 4 yr old shitshue is a bigger size and I want it to go well with her to, so I will give you guys 3 stars for now until after that comes and goes read more

Dr. Brooke Jacoby is wonderful. Our two cats, who are not always comfortable with strangers, especially at vet offices, really like her. Our cats inform us of who they trust, and they trust Dr. Brooke. Dr. Brooke is kind, very gentle, competent, intuitive, respectful, modest, and patient with our questions. Also, her front desk staff are very professional and responsive with our questions or concerns. And the vet technicians are competent and great with our cats. This clinic has a holistic approach to animal care and offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere. I highly recommend them. read more

The first visit is mostly a lecture. You pay $168 for a 45 minute lecture, then the exam, which was done gently and with a caring attitude...but again no room for a dialogue-she was not very good at listening. AND the 1st visit lecture is delivered at a fast paced (she looked at the clock to make sure she wouldn't run out of time) and there are so many samples of products when you leave it is confusing. They assured me I could call back with questions, but when I did I was told that this is only in the first week, after that you have to make another (expensive) appointment. My cat has the same issues I brought her in with and nothing they tried to sell me was helpful. The receptionist also speaks at about 90 mph and it is hard to break in, even on a phone call. I will not return. I want a holistic vet, but this is not the one. (and the parking is very hard to get in and out of as well!) read more

Please Do Not Bring Your Pet Here. Go to any other hospital such as Eugene Animal hospital or Amazon! Owner is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. After dropping my girlfriend off and waiting in the car this daft short haired lady with glasses and two dogs approached a patch of grass in between my car and the sidewalk. On this day it was pouring so lucky for me my car was nice and washed.. unfortunately this extremely incoherent lady proceeded to let her dogs spray gravel, rocks and clumps of grass on soil still intact onto the cars within the radius, mine taking an extra special beating while I am sitting in the car listening to rocks bounce off of my car doors. After what seemed like minutes of her dogs thrashing any nearby car the lady finally notices I am in my car glaring at her and finally stutters "its my dogs". As if I wasn't watching her dogs destroy these cars for the last 5 minutes... Finally as a start to get out of my car to asses the damage this terrible dog owner jets to her car and speeds off as i try to flag her down in her own parking lot! Of course I walk inside and ask for the daft ladies phone number that just left only for the desk to inform me that they cannot give me the cell phone number because SHE IS THE ACTUAL OWNER OF THE HOSPITAL. After laughing hysterically at the fact that someone who lets her dogs beat up other peoples cars without even an apology and speeding away is even allowed to own dogs let alone a hospital i left my phone number so I could tell this incredible person that she should at least apologize when she or her dogs damages someones car and at least try to fix it instead of trying to runaway especially if you are the owner of the god dam hospital but of course this incredibly incapable person cannot own two dogs why should I think she can make a phone call? Anyway please avoid this incredibly poorly run business and choose Eugene Animal Hospital or Amazon animal hospital they are awesome and never damage your car while its parked outside! read more

I took my dog to Healing Paws for years but now I go to Dr. Ashley in Springfield who is an allergy specialist. What people need to know upfront is that the doctors at Healing Paws will not prescribe Apoquel or Cyclosporin as a treatment for allergies. I went there for years thinking that they probably are doing everything they can and that there's probably no other medications out there to help my poor dog. They had mentioned Dr. Ashley in the past because my dog is such an extreme allergy case and we were at a dead end road, but I thought to myself, "well I'm sure Healing Paws is doing/trying everything that is available, and there's probably just no other options. It seems we've tried everything." My dog was miserable for like 2 yrs while seeing Healing Paws because the dr. kept tapering down the Temeril P and my dog can't live without medicine so he would break out red and be absolutely miserable and I'd spend my life telling him to stop scratching and it was just a horrible situation. so when he'd break out red he got an infection so then was put on antibiotics and a very temp higher dose of Temeril P. So he would have peace for about 5 days and then the tapering would begin and he would be miserable and then he would break out red and get an infection so he'd be put back on Temeril P and antibiotics.... and this cycle continued over and over for like 2 yrs where he'd have the occasional/rare 5 days of peace. It was terrible and that part of his life will always haunt me. I think it was at the point where his legs were all puffy and he was so itchy I told the vet, "I couldn't even sit at the table to eat a muffin and visit with mom because he can't stop itching and I have to sit next to him to stop him." and they didn't seem to understand how bad it was because I remember being really disappointed after leaving the clinic. And then I switched to Dr. Ashley and she put him on Cyclosporin and it helped and she also treats him for the yeast infections which Healing Paws (I assume) doesn't believe in treating yeast infections with medicine? At Healing Paws I spent thousands of dollars and you have to go back to have rechecks all the time, like I was going there every month pretty much for yrs. At Dr Ashely's clinic they tell you they care about not burning a hole in your pocket so they don't have you come in for tons of rechecks, more often verbal check ins. It has been SOOO much affordable, huge difference. They also often give me free medicine from the donation bin. Healing Paws I do not doubt their extensive knowledge in the holistic realm, and I have been impressed by their knowledge. I just feel that people should know upfront that they will not prescribe Apoquel or Cyclosporin when that could be the very last option when nothing else is working. I wonder if some people put their dogs to sleep thinking that Apoquel and Cyclosporin don't exist. When I first went to Dr. Ashley the only thing that would work for my dog (besides Temeril P) was Cyclosporin. I want to say that the staff at Healing Paws is very nice and, I think that if you are rich and want to try the holistic route first, then go to Healing Paws because I do love the idea of treating naturally. I simply am writing this post because I wish that I would of known years ago about Cyclosporin so that I didn't watch my dog suffer for years. it was just horrible. And now that my dog has been on antibiotics so much from getting infections everytime Healing Paws would taper down the Temeril P, I'm afraid of them not working as well nowadays. I understand they didn't want him to stay on the Temeril P because he'd been on it so many years. but they also didn't tell me that Cyclosporin exists. They told me that maybe Dr. Ashley has some other options she could try. I just thought, "well if there were other options wouldn't Healing Paws have done it, since my dog is so miserable." So that is why I am writing this review so that people know about Cyclosporin and Apoquel. read more

The Healing Paws staff are wonderful. They are all very knowledgeable and kind, calling to check in on our pets even after a regular check up, and encouraging us to call with any questions. Their clinic is beautiful, very clean and cozy, it feels much more homey than any other veterinary clinic I've been to. For the first appointment they spend an hour and a half with you and they really get to the root of issues instead of prescribing medications for symptoms without figuring out what's actually causing the issue. They taught me how to make my dog a homemade diet and were quick to troubleshoot with me to get it exactly right for him. When I brought my new cat in, they managed to give her a microchip without even making her flinch! (Microchips require huge needles, I was amazed.) I really feel like my animals are getting great care from Healing Paws. After our first visits they sent us home with a bag full of free samples of treats, raw foods, and supplements. The only con is that this is a pricey clinic, but I expected that going in, this isn't your average veterinary care. read more
