I just love the sensitivity vibe at Bush Animal Hospital. There are pheromone diffusers and towels for nervous cats and dogs. I had to put my beloved Tuxie Darby cat down last week, not all of the sudden, I mean he was 16ish years old. I found the entire experience designed around my emotional needs. Mr Tux made it a quick Irish manx goodbye by developing heart disease and evidencing it only for his final week. He had stopped eating and we went in to see Dr Newman to see if perhaps he had megacolon or something fixable. When we got the bad news, fluid on his lungs and body mass loss, the entire staff was very well spoken and supportive. Tuxie could not have received better care! read more

I wish I had paid closer attention to the negative reviews before allowing them to provide services to my little girl (my cat). The self-proclaimed manager/ owner of this establishment is either absolutely clueless and devoid of any knowledge of finance and business (e.g. pricing points, knowing whether she is making a profit or not, etc) OR she is deliberately deceitful in order to mask the true costs of the services provided. BACKGROUND: I wanted a routine dental cleaning for my little girl. I was fine with the possibility of dental extractions, as my angel is a little bit older, and I know eventually it is inevitable. I have taken each of my cats into a vet - NOT THIS CLINIC (I moved from out of state) - in the past, and felt comfortable with the procedure. What I did not know is that, unlike other clinics I have have had great dental cleaning experiences in the past, the owner/ manager of this clinic DOES NOT KNOW and REFUSES or is incapable of understanding her business' "Dental Plan" financial structure. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU as a client: (1) You will be gaslit into accepting random pricing without justification. There was even an attempt to convince me that I should be happy they clipped my cat's nails for free while under anesthesia, versus the $50 they normally charge (that was the only itemized charge they disclosed to me). Ironically, during the previous visit, the veterinarian had commented that I "did a good job" clipping her nails. And nail clipping at ANY other vet has never surpassed $12. (2) You will not be able to submit a full insurance claim (ALL insurance companies require an itemized list of the pricing associated with the services provided). It would be like grocery shopping, seeing a total bill of $900, and never being able to verify WHY that total is what it is. ADDITIONALLY: The client to staff communication is horrible. Horrendous. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. I have been told 3 different things (price-wise, procedure-wise, practice-wise) on the same day that have nothing to do with an adjustment of a quote. poorly managed organization. Ultimately, I am not complaining about price (I can't refute it - the manager can't even explain her pricing), but LACK of QUALITY OF SERVICE. Virtually EVERY single visit was an "OOPS!" I remember the evening I picked up my dog, I had let the desk person know my dog felt "off." She wasn't herself, she was motionless, expressionless. The lady said there was nothing wrong with her and that I can take her home. That night, my dog's heart started beating very fast. I've generally been very happy with the care my dog has received here. Appointments are easy to book, and I like being able to do so online or on the phone. Prices for services are reasonable considering how important good vet care is. Office staff and vet techs are helpful and kind and very gentle with my nervous dog. I like being able to book online. There is unfortunately one vet there who I have not been as happy with, she gave me weird advice about teeth brushing one time (said I shouldn't brush my dog's teeth if she wouldn't let me, which I understand in theory), and another time said there was "absolutely nothing" wrong with my dog's hind legs; when I went back a different vet at the practice gave her a correct diagnosis and started her on some simple OTC supplements that have really helped! Dr. Beyerinck and Dr. Newman have both been excellent, I would recommend either of them, and there are probably other veterinarians at Bush who are wonderful, too! read more

This vet is money first pet last. Not only are their prices for vet services outrageous, and nickle and dime you for everything they do. it promotes deceptive web practices. And, if you have a pet emergency, they will see if they can fit you in in days not hours. So you are forced to go to the animal emergency hospital where their prices for emergency care is not much different from normal care at Bush Hospital. It also sends their patients email with prices for products and medications you can get online from their proprietary website, for the best price. But in fact, getting it directly at the vet hospital is cheaper. They refuse to correct this deceptive process and charge more for buying online. read more

I always take my pups and kitties to this hospital, including after going to other vets in the past. They are always there for us, providing the best wrap-around care. All of the vets are knowledgeable and compassionate people; intelligent, well-educated and unafraid to turn to other staff for input when they wonder about something. Over the years, they have helped us through baby times, all the times in between, and times when we had to say good-bye to our precious friends. AND they've helped us through a couple emergencies, like yesterday, when I screwed up and somehow left fudge where my pups could reach it. When I realized we were in over my head, I called and was told to bring the pup in whom I knew needed help. We arrived as quickly as possible, although we live 25 miles away. We were met in the parking lot by Ashley, who immediately took the one pup from the car. She got him quickly into the clinic for treatment. He was more than happy to be going inside with her, as he loves his vet visits! Dr. Blystone appeared in a few minutes, while I waited in the car with my other pup who was complaining about being left outside! Dr. Blystone told me what she was doing and that my pup was OK. She was very comforting and kind. Today, our precious pup is tired, but he's with us! I cannot express the level of gratitude I feel for this Bush team. They have been our support for over 20 years, always providing positive and top notch care. They communicate beautifully, listening as well as they give feedback and educate me when I have questions. I can expect immediate support when I am afraid for my furries, and I can count on loving and compassionate care being given. The pups love going to see their doctors! .....any of them. They are the very best. PS My neighbor was listening to the phone call I made to them yesterday when I knew we needed help. She was AMAZED at their immediate and kind response to our need. We have been taking our dogs here for over 5 years. When covid hit more people became pet owners and Bush just kept adding patients. Resulting in appointments taking longer to get. This was not too bad as long as there was nothing critical. However, this past week, I call because my dog was in extreme pain, not moving, moaning. They did not care. I called at 8 in the morning, then again at 9. Both times the receptionist was curt. They finally tried to return my call at 1230 via email. By that time I had called 20 different vets and found someone willing to help. I responding to the email, telling them I had found someone more compassionate. The office manage sent me back an extremely curt email and my dogs records. My dog died that day. Could they have helped? Who knows but I would at least like a call, maybe pain meds to help my poor dog. He suffered. Thankfully we found another vet that cared and returned my call, Yup take your dog here if you think this was compassionate. read more

Asked why and couldn't get an answer. Needed steroid shots for both cats and was charged $69.00/shot. Every other vet I've gone to charges $38.83 for exact same shot. Asked why and was told they could charge whatever they wanted. I Will Never step foot in that scamming place again. read more

We would probably recommend this clinic if money is not something you are worried about. But if you go here, be ready for a clinic that may care about their profit margin as much as your pet. Here's our story. Our cat had already been diagnosed virtually with a thyroid issue as the systems were classic: weight loss, very vocal etc. But we brought her into Bush Animal Hospital to confirm the diagnosis and get a prescription. $370.00 later, we felt ripped off. While the charge for the exam and a dewormer was about 15-20% higher than we had paid at other local clinics for the same service, that would be okay if they didn't order a full blood panel which cost $268. We were not given the option of a half panel which would have confirmed both thyroid and kidney issues which were really the only two reasonable possibilities given her symptoms (this was confirmed by another vet we talked to afterwards) But they ordered a full panel that cost $268.00 "just to make sure." But our issue isn't even that we paid a premium for the visit and a dewormer it was that they ordered a very expensive full blood panel test unnecessarily. They just asked us to confirm we wanted "a blood test" with no explanation of our options AND they didn't tell us how much it cost until after the blood test was ordered the next day. In fact, we didn't even get to speak with the vet until the next day AFTER we were stuck with a $370.00 bill. Again, no issues with the diagnosis they came up with they told us everything we already knew. Our complaint is that they did everything they could to jack up our bill and we didn't find out until the next day. read more

I will preface this with saying that we have only been here once so far. With that said, our first experience was excellent and we will be back to try them again. Often times with vets it takes a few visits to get a true picture of their ability and character. We took our 2 dogs in for check ups and heart worm tests. We recently moved to this area and heard that heart worm was a problem. The Dr. kindly explained to us that it was not as big of a problem as we thought it was and that medicine is typically not necessary. He advised that a test (costing roughly $50 each) was not necessary either but we could of course do so as a preventative measure. This alone made me feel very good about this clinic. We went in with 2 concerns that we knew would cost money and the Dr. educated us on the issues we raised and did not urge us to spend the money. Aside from that, the staff were amazing. Our dogs are very nervous rescues so this was a big step for both. The staff loved on them and fed them treats until they were comfortable!! read more

I had 3 visits with Bush, and after my most recent visit, I'll not be returning. The reception has always been friendly, but I'm unhappy with the quality of service I have received for the costs I've paid. When I brought my cat in most recently, I was expecting 2 vaccines. I was charged a high price for those 2 vaccines and an additional tech visit which was never explained beforehand to cost money. It feels dishonest because in order to go in for vaccines, a current exam with the doc is necessary. Since that is on file, I shouldn't have to pay for a tech visit for vital signs. If there was a concern, an exam with the doctor would surely be recommended. Either way, you're paying for someone to do an "exam". I worked at an animal hospital for 7 years in Southern California and we never charged for vital signs prior to a vaccine. I was genuinely shocked to hear the bill when I was called hours later. $102. For shots you're better off going to a shot clinic. The visit before that I brought my cat in for bi-annual labwork for his chronic asthma. I also expressed concern for some limping. On exam Dr. Blystone noted pain in the back right knee. When the x-rays were finally done, after receiving a 2nd opinion, the legs weren't separated well enough to confidently claim anything about the knees. However, Dr. Blystone found a bladder stone and proceeded to tell me he needs to be on a urinary dissolution diet. If his record was checked or his history was relayed from me, she would've known that he already is on a urinary diet. No follow ups were recommended regarding this, the conversation seemed to come to a halt. After talking to my previous vet in SoCal, she took the initiative to contact Royal Canin to confirm his prescription diet was sufficient. She also recommended I confirm the stones were resolved in about 2 months with another x-ray. I'm used to a very high standard of patient care, where treatment plans are clear and there is a long-term plan. After the most recent visit, I requested my pets' medical records. The doctor's note from several months prior from the x-ray and labwork was never filled in completely. Mid-sentence the note ends. I would expect this at most a week within the visit because doctors get busy! I get it. But months later indicates a lack of attentiveness. My very first visit was with Dr. Beyerinck for my dog. That went well and it initially had me returning. Perhaps the issue is the difference between philosophy of doctors in the practice. Regardless, it seems like what I am looking for is not at Bush. read more

I absolutely love this vet! They are the best group of people you will ever meet and trust your pet's health to them. My animals always see Dr. Newman, and both cats really seem to like him. My cats aren't exactly the most well-behaved in a veterinarian office either. One will find some way to embarrass me or inconvenience the staff there. They just roll with it, as I'm sure mine are nowhere near the worst. Dr. Newman goes out of his way to work with my animals, and tolerates their weird quirks. My cat found a corner of the room he liked once, and was fine there, until you tried to move him. The doc gets down on his hands and knees on the floor to examine my cat, and keep him happy and calm in that corner. It was mortifying to me, but that's the kind of care they give. Allison and Corina are the best receptionists possible. They are so warm, welcoming, and helpful. They answer all my questions, with a smile, tolerate scheduling difficulties, and so much more. I absolutely love bringing my pets in here because the prices are good, and the level of care my pets receive is beyond excellent. I have never had a complaint here, or a bad experience. I will always return to this vet, and I'm always recommending them to people I know when they talk about needing a great vet. read more

Bush Animal Hospital was unprofessional throughout my interactions with them (three office visits, and several phone calls). I had an appointment to obtain an international health certificate for my dog. Without the correct forms, my dog, myself, and my 13 month old would be stranded in a European airport. The vet was confused by the paperwork, stating that she did not know what sections such as "consignee" meant, and that the paperwork should be filled out by the "vet who is filling out the paperwork," despite her being the vet who was filling out the paperwork. USDA-APHIS told me the forms were incorrect (over the phone), and sent me a template to bring back to Bush Animal Hospital to have them correct their mistakes. I spent an additional 90 minutes (on top of the 60+ minutes the first appointment took) at Bush, going through the paperwork with the receptionist, with USDA template. The vet was not with us to review the form. The forms were completed by the receptionist. The office manager said that it was my responsibility to ensure that the paperwork was filled out correctly, since the forms were "too complicated." This is untrue, as the USDA requires specific training and certification for veterinarians to fill out this precise paperwork. For all of this, I was charged $269 (in comparison, when I have previously gotten international health certificates, it has never cost more that $100, took longer than 20 minutes, and has been completed by the USDA-accredited vet). I asked for a refund, which Bush did not grant me, citing staff time and a section of the forms I asked about, which the receptionist then filled out in response, which turned out to be incorrect. Bush has since focused on my question rather then the vet's original errors, suggesting that my request for service and help was the problem. The office manager also implied that the forms would not be approved due to this, which would have meant that my family would need to reschedule our international move. My parents and their neighbors have had positive experiences with some of the veterinarians at Bush, but I cannot recommend this practice for their unprofessionalism and insensitivity. read more

Bush Animal has been the only place I take My dogs since I moved to Eugene 7 years ago, they are patient and through with each exam and don't push or up sell services the kids don't need. If I could give 100 stars on my review I would. Bush Animal Hospital is THAT great. Just today we visited with our dog, Niko. He had been pawing at his eye and it had all sorts of goop coming out of it. Yuck! I called in around lunchtime, described the symptoms to the front desk woman who answered and she then put me right on to talk to one of there technicians about it. From there they arranged to fit us in to be seen in between other appointments, just a few hours later! Since our first visit in May (we recently moved to Eugene), we could not be more impressed with the efficient, professional and overwhelmingly caring way that this practice is run. Niko has been seen by multiple Bush doctors since then and each one has provided exceptional care, taking time to explain everything and answer all of our questions. If I were to review Bush Animal Hospital a year ago I would have given them a 5-star rating. Their service was excellent, front staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and valued, and their availability was great when other vets turned us away. Recently we took our dog back to Bush for some intestinal issues. I felt like I was in a different hospital. The vets are great and this time Priscilla didn't disappoint- at least in the beginning. When we had to take our dog back for a recheck after recommended treatments weren't working, she gave us some additional meds and said this would help her to turn the corner. When we checked in and out, one of the front desk staff was not helpful and very unprofessional in her words and actions. We also received no follow up call/check in. We were very surprised. We ended up taking our dog to another clinic the next day as our poor dog didn't respond to treatments. The new vet did some further tests and set us on a different course. We have been back for more visits and more tests and hoping our little girl is now turning the corner but we at least know she is in great hands and they truly care about her well being. We have had the most positive experience with Dr. Priscilla and with this animal hospital. It always feels safe, clean, and welcoming. Dr. Priscilla is very kind and knowledgable about cats. Every time we went, we would leave with printouts giving us even more information about any question we may have asked during the appointment. She helped me figure out our guy's kitty asthma after our move to Eugene. The entire staff are friendly and thoughtful. Every step of the process was made easy from scheduling appointments, getting prescriptions, and figuring out our cat's health needs. Took my 13 year old in for wellness visit. It was our first time here in several years because we moved to the other side of town and got vet there. Because of expense of VCA affiliated facility there, decided to go the extra few miles to come back here. Everyone was very welcoming at the desk and we were scheduled to see Dr Beyerinck. He was wonderful with my anxious dog, Stella, and gave a thorough exam, while speaking to me about my questions and her care. He did not push any unnecessary procedures on us,saying "if she develops any problems we can do it then". Gave kudos for the condition of her teeth, and sent us on our way! We later had to bring Stella in on an emergent basis for eating dark chocolate (yes, my fault). Dr Yeager took her right back for treatment. When she brought her back, Stella was very happy and Dr. Remarked how nice it was to have a cooperative dog! I LOVE these people! Highly recommend read more

My family currently has 4 cats and 2 dogs. Bush is the only place we will take our pets, and here is why. While on vacation some time ago, in our absence, our daughters calico cat managed to drink some radiator fluid. The cat was very sickly and quite thin. It appeared that she quite possibly had been sick for a few days. We surely did not think this cat would survive. How does a father look into the crying eyes of his little girl and tell her there is nothing we could do? We reluctantly took her cat to Bush as they were the closest to us at the time. We had been using PetSmart, but the staff there is always changing and it seems rather impersonal, likely due to the high turnover. But I digress. Bush quickly determined what was wrong, liver failure and it was very serious as we we had brought her in as late as we possibly could and her still have any chance of survival. We had two options, a painless euthanasia and end her suffering, or a possibly weeks long hospitalization with no promise of a healthy outcome. ...Did I mention the crying little girl?... Not being flush with cash (the vacation remember...) Bush not only brought our daughters little baby back to health, but they also worked out a very manageable payment plan for us to pay down the bill. We have been with Bush Animal Hospital since 2002. Priscilla Gibson, DVM has been taking unbelievably outstanding care of our 5 indoor cats since she has been on staff. The Vet Techs., all of them have been wonderful. The bang we get for our buck, or a basket of them ("sorry to say" says my wallet), is BIG! We love our pets and feel so comfortable with her expert veterinary knowledge, care and compassion coupled with the fact that she is such an excellent advocate for our kitties health and wellbeing! Had someone esle's dog whom couldn't care for it due to an emergency. Dog was not up to date on shots. I couldn't take dog to my house (other dogs). Had to kennel him. But with no shots, no kennel. Bush Animal Hospital was able to schedule a same day appointment for this poor dog just so I could get his shots and kennel him. Dr. Newman is very knowledgeable and helpful. Love him. I took my lab here today after a weekend of fretting about his health. Our appointment was with Dean Beyerinck. He was excellent. He was great with my dog, listened carefully to my concerns and addressed them intelligently and with knowledge. At one point I asked something he wasn't sure of and he went away and did some research and came back with an informed opinion. The check in and check out process was pleasant and easy. I really felt that my dog's interests were their top priority. At no point did anyone try to sell me anything that I didn't think was necessary. Overall it was a positive experience and I feel better having a diagnosis for my dog and some medicine to help him feel better. read more

I was undecided on which vet to choose to take my kitty to. I called around and started with price quotes, looking for someone who's base exam fee was reasonable. This place got good marks for that. Then I needed someone to discuss my cat's issue, so we could determine urgency and what might be needed for service. The receptionist was AMAZING. He spent like 10 minutes with me discussing my concerns and putting me at ease. The level of care for his job was evident and so I decided to make an appointment. My being impressed did not end there. We made it in time for the appt, the paperwork was minimal and the waiting room was comfortable. There was a pet who made a mess, so we needed to wait a bit longer than expected for our appt, but the Dr. himself came out to keep us updated and let us know the ETA to being seen. Once we were seen, the Dr. gave an extremely comprehensive exam and discussed what he was doing and why each step. I felt educated, reassured and had even learned more about my cat's breed and care for him. I went home happy with the knowledge I have found my new vet. Highly recommend! read more

It is really hard to get established with a new vet so often. I had an amazing relationship with the vets in my previous state and was really depressed thinking I wouldn't find someone here as wonderful. I have. Bush vets have taken great care of my pets, and unlike other places I have been, do not get defensive and shut down when I ask questions. I'm a retired nurse, and I really want to understand the processes and the rationale. And have found that here in abundance. So far so good The vet and his assistant we're very concerned polite and listened attentively. Our first visit with my cat Daffy went well he received a rabies shot a once over by the vet a prescription for some Eyemedicine-he may have gotten scratched in a catfight. The total bill came to $130 $32 of which was the eye medicine. After the visit I did go online and find the same medicine for $16. I was too lazy to go back and return it and order medicine from the Internet because I wanted daffy to get his treatment right away. All in all it was a good experience but it was just the first visit and time will tell. read more

As with every veterinary clinic, expect to pay a lot of money here. But the money is always worth it if they treat your babies right. They always let me bring both my car and dog in at the same time for their yearly exams and that makes it helpful. The medicines they have prescribed for my pets have worked for them. Everyone seems to really care about my pets and treat them as their own. When we're waiting in the vet someone up front or one of the assistants always wants to pet my animals and give them treats which makes for a good experience for them. As a health care provider, I have perhaps an inordinate number of questions and concerns about my loved pet. The entire staff at Bush appears to respect my position and always work diligently to provide me with the most rational answers and suggestions. Dr. Gibson is fabulous. I particularly appreciate that this practice is fully interested/engaged in the "small animal/pet" realm of Vet Medicine. I have found the fees to be quite reasonable - for the value of services received. While the doctors are beyond reproach, their techs/assistants are absolutely fabulous. read more

Bush is not locally owned but is part of a large animal hospital conglomerate with corporate offices based in another state. I took my puppy to Bush Animal Hospital because it had good reviews on Yelp and Angie's List and was relatively convenient location-wise. Our first visit was fine, Dr. Yeager and the staff were really nice, and I had no reason to look elsewhere. Last week I made an appointment to get my pup's vaccine today. Over the past 2 days, I've noticed some eye discharge and general eye redness that I knew would need some antibiotics. I called the office this morning to make sure the vaccine appointment included a vet. The scheduler let me know that the appt was just with a vet tech, there were no appointments available today, but they could get me in tomorrow. Being a novice pet owner, I asked how they handled it when my dog had something that needed to be looked at right away, and she told me that I would have to drop the dog off, review the problem with a vet tech, then leave him there until the vet could look at him, then they would call me to pick him up; they were unable to give me any kind of a time frame in which that would happen. I was pretty disappointed in this level of service--I don't want to leave my 5 month old puppy at the vet for what I know is a 5-minute consult. I let them know I would be looking elsewhere to get my pet treated. Sure enough, I called another vet clinic near me and they were able to fit him in about an hour later. If it were just about the people and the quality of care they gave, I would absolutely stay with Bush even though they're a bit more expensive than other vet clinics. However, when I'm paying cash for healthcare for my pet, I expect a better level of service/availability of provider. read more

I went to several vets in town before finding this one, and it was worth the wait. They didn't try to sell me things I didn't need, they actually listened to what I had to say, and they went out of their way to make sure my dog and I were both comfortable with everything they were doing. All of the costs were practical, and i didn't feel like i was being taken to the cleaners. Great people. This is your vet. Go here. Seriously. read more
