After years of going from Vet to Vet in W Eugene & Elmira area (where we live), I finally found Veterinarians THAT CARE about your fur babies! I regret NOT finding Ark Veterinary sooner, such as when I adopted him, as he was found in a garbage bin, traumatized @ 7 months (Duke), who was lucky to have my husband & I retrieve him & save his poor little life. Duke was 1/2 Border Collie, 1/2 Chow, who had numerous life-threatening illnesses from the start, that following him through his 9 years with us. I REFUSED to give him up @ the beginning when I found out he was so sick & would cost us a bit over $20,000.00 from beginning to end (He passed @ home on 4/10/26), & this was out of pocket; His insurance, Nationwide, helped us cover the other $12,000.00 on top of the $20,000.00, Nationwide took such good care of Duke. Duke was so traumatized, he needed to be fed by hand every single day. His emotional/mental being was dampened by his 1-2 month stay in that garbage bin with flies & bees stinging & biting him. However, with OUR LOVE & care for all this time + the AWESOME care he received from Ark's Vets & their staff, made his life, last 2 years or so, the BEST years he had & best for us, too. The care there was unremarkable! Duke came home with us to "pass @ home" about 3 months ago, lasting until 4/10, when he had a fatal heart attack, dying by my side outside the front door. I'm @ loss for words. We MISS our Duke so much! He was my best friend, my only friend, & his demise left such a large hole in my heart, words cannot express. We cannot have another dog bc of our advanced ages + our serious medical issues. THIS is what hurts so much! I haven't been without a dog since 1979. The staff & Vets sent a beautiful sympathy card to us, received today, bringing tears to my eyes. Everyone there signed it! I'm telling you..they care, they are compassionate, & they take care of your animal, more so than the other 3 Veterinarians we had for Duke. I can't say enough about this clinic! Duke was blessed with their care & we were blessed with it, too! We're waiting for his ashes/urn to arrive @ the clinic, so we can "have Duke back @ home again", hopefully soon. This is the last straw for this overpriced, under experienced and utterly non compassionate veterinary clinic. I drove from Ashland with a 12 year old labradoodle. She has a swollen foot. I was 11 minutes late. I informed the receptionist. There were three accidents on the road. I had my young daughter with me and there was no compassion whatsoever. They said we will have to cancel the appointment and reschedule. I was 1 min over their late policy. The receptionist who is not even working with me, chimes in and decides that she's going to inform me about her fertility issues. It appeared as though she was triggered when I mentioned how much stress I was in because I have children with me and that our dog really needs care. As tears are welling in my eyes I'm clearly in a state of distress not knowing what to do.No alternative options are being presented, no solutions, nothing! The receptionist states that she can't have children medically. This is her childish response to a stressful situation? The receptionists have never been warm in the past visits either so it's not a one off situation. The Ark has a receptionist that is bitter towards people with children, how can they possibly be compassionate for an elderly dog who might have bone cancer? I can't imagine going to the death and dying process with such an awfully insensitive group who are very much not trauma informed. The vets are great but they seem to have no idea what's going on out in the front. This particular receptionist has caused and will continue to cause further trauma to people who are already going through really difficult times this is a veterinary clinic not high school. Please take some classes in crisis management and have develop compassion Arc veterinary clinic staff! Do not attend this place if you are a highly sensitive person have an elderly dog have children and need a little extra care and sensitivity. I did inform them of my situation. I was very clear and there was not an ounce of compassion. I spoke to three other clinics afterwards about what happened. They were very compassionate and gave a lot of advice for my dog. These folks were amazing and super helpful for my dog Roxie! She is a complicated dog having zero social skills and being reactive to strangers. The tech Lindsey was SO patient and accommodating with her needs- I was VERY impressed. They helped get a fox tail out of her ear which was infected, cleaned them out and even did her nails. This is the best veterinarian's office in the area. Dr. Sangl has given my dogs and cats excellent care. She saved my cat's life when I was (extremely reluctantly) ready to have her put down. I want to thank The Ark, and specifically Dr. Cordes and Kerrie (vet tech) for taking my pup, Navi, at such short notice when she was having tummy issues and eye issues. My partner and I were so scared for her and they both helped ease the anxiety and fear we had. Dr. Cordes explained things so thoroughly and had such a calm demeanor while Kerrie was right there to help keep Navi calm in the room. Every doctor here is amazing, and Dr. Mercer went above and beyond. They were verifying my info from WilVet that my dog has a large mass around his spleen and that end-of-life care might be a kinder option. The techs are very professional and always seem like they're happy to be there. Dr. Mercer gave a complimentary ultrasound and took the time to show and explain the exact problem. I found that very compassionate. (I have no way of knowing, but I surmise that the tech AmandaRae relayed to the doctor that I am low on funds after the ER and multiple visits with my dog.) I also take my two Sphynx cats there and Dr. Sangl has been great with them. The tech Sonia has multiple of the same kind treated there, so I know they have experience with the rare breed and that's always comforting. They work with Trupanion and it's always been easy to get records. They also try their best to respect and use your pronouns, so my fellow trans peeps- you are safe here! They have separate dog and cat sides if you've got a prey-driven dog or timid cat. And they are always able to squeeze me in at a very reasonable time frame. A few weeks ago our cat stopped eating and began rapidly began losing weight. After a few days of her not getting better we called our regular vet, but they had no openings, and were recommended Ark Vet Clinic, who was able to see us very quickly. I unfortunately wasn't able to go myself due to work, so rushed my partner and kitty over. The initial exam was reasonable ($82) and we were suggested a blood test that also seemed reasonable ($300), but no clear cause was found other than the possibility of stomach cancer or a blood parasite (she's 100% an indoor cat). Rather than prolonging our cat's suffering with guessing we decided to have her euthanized. When I came home that night I was shocked to see we were charged $560 for the procedure and cremation service (total bill $975.50). This seemed extremely high to me from past experience, so I called a few other vets in the area and were quoted between $180-$220 for the same euthanasia and cremation services. I called Ark Vet Clinic to see if maybe there had been an error and the person on the phone was extremely blunt and rude, and said "Other places can charge what they want, that's what we charge. You're welcome to go elsewhere". In addition to our grief we're already dealing with, we now also have to deal with the fact this clinic took advantage of us while we were at our most desperate. Oh, and they charged $40 to get my cat's ink footprint back. When I told my regular vet about this they were disgusted and apologized for recommending this clinic. Due to the failure of staff acting fast while my dog was in distress caused my dog to lose oxygen to the brain and become blind. Mind you he was in distress because he was in a unfamiliar place and was having a panic attack - no other medical issues. Its been a little over a month and his eye sight has not approved. Its very hard having a very playful happy dog turn into a blind, depressed and very sluggish dog. (just over a check up) Our baby may never be the same due to a check up that went bad. I received a second opinion and we are confident the lack in response caused this blindness. Had a pet emergency and couldn't take my kitty to her usual vet, so they said I should call here. I was so relieved that they were able to get me in an hour later! My kitty was sitting in an Animal Hospital with an 8 hour wait, so they completely saved us from all that harm and uncertainty. We started coming here after an emergency with one of our cats and they were the vet clinic that happened to be the closest to us. 4 years later and they have seen every single one of our pets regularly. When we had to put one of our cats down due to deteriorating health, they were incredibly sympathetic about the entire ordeal. I found Ark when I was looking for a timely and not overly expensive vet visit for a dog I was fostering. I was so impressed from the care they provided and time they spent with my foster dog and the way they provided options but pushed nothing, that I decided to trust them with my old dog when it was becoming obvious it was time to put him down. I was torn over the decision as he was still having good moments. They were so loving and supportive! I went to put him down and changed my mind on Saturday, and then Sunday came around and he was struggling beyond what I was willing to allow for him and they fit him in the day of! They waited till I was ready then fed him tuna while injecting him to put him to sleep and let me sit on the floor and spend as much time as I needed with him even after he was asleep, before they did the lethal injection, then let me lay there and cry over his body until I was ready. Losing a loved one is horrible, but they made it the best experience it could have been and were absolutely wonderful! When I went to pick up his ashes I was crying too hard to walk in and they brought them out to me. Through it all everyone there, whether on the phone, in person, or in the office, or in passing, were so compassionate and caring! They have been wonderful with getting my puppy up to date on all his puppy shots! Even with the Covid precautions, they take their time to call you to see if you have any concerns, after the exam they call you to tell you how everything went, and will answer any questions that you have. We raise Austrailian Shepherds and have up to 16 dogs at any one time. We have known "Dr. Rachel " Sangl for several years now. She has ALWAYS provides excellent care to all of our dogs ( and kitty cats) which includes c-sections, emergency care , regular check ups, vaccines, and is always available for questions , care and support... I brought our 17 year dog to this clinic. Each time was a horrible experience. I recently brought her to the Ark for an eye issue. They told me that they would have to put in a stain in her eye which would be additional. I agreed. They told me that there was no scratch to her eye but she did have separation of the iris. That there was no concern. We went home feeling okay. As the week went by we noticed her eye was getting worse. I called the clinic to find out that I would have to pay the office visit and stain again. Which is very expensive. I decided to get a second opinion at another clinic. We took our senior dog to another vet. They put the stain in and found a large ulcer that was as big as her eyeball!! The vet could not believe how the vet from the Ark could have missed it. The vet told us if we would have waited any longer her eye ball could have popped. The Ark also called in to the pharmacy a prescription for a steroid. I didn't pick it up. If I would have gave her the eye ointment it would have made her ulcer much worse even loose her eye! Be warned of the Ark. all they care about is money and blaming fault. They never apologized to me or offered any help in any way. I will follow up and make sure that no one else has to go through this. It's hard enough seeing your beloved pet in pain. But to have a veterinary clinic that has no consent for your pet or you. Please be careful with the Ark clinic. read more

Do not take your pets here. They have some of the most shady business practices I've seen to date. You can easily expect them to charge you double what you were quoted and have some lame reasons as to why it costs more. I asked very specific questions on what I was going to be charged for and still had them trying to charge me double what I agreed to. All other surgeries and procedures are given a range (within $100) so I was shocked when they were trying to charge over $200 more than I was quoted for ROUTINE services. I've been in and out of an emergency vet for less than what they wanted here and was given an exact quote at the emergency vet. The behavior at The Ark is predatory and disgusting. The vets are condescending and can be heard complaining from where they hang out in the back and you can hear dogs whimpering and crying out while out of your line of sight. If you have any other option, do not pick this vet. They do not care about our pets they only see us as walking dollar signs. read more

We visited this vets office 4 times in total, I believe, maybe 5. My dog has allergies to food and he had been given the sydlepoint shot 2 or 3 times before and it worked wonderfully. He had the exact same problem on this visit. He had the red itchy skin, everything was the exact same. On this visit, the only visit, we was not asked to accompany our dog and the tech back to the room. The visit lasted literally 2 minutes. The tech walked my dog back, weighed him, recorded the weight, looked him over, prepared the shot, cause it goes by weight, and gave him the shot, in 2 minutes. we even stated "That was fast" when he came back out. The shot never stopped him from itching. We went back a couple months later, cause my dog was just miserable, and the doctor did some test, saying he had a skin infection and gave antibotics and pills. He was still itching so we took him to another vet, he got the sidlepoint injection, with my husband watching, and it worked the first day, within hours, just like it did the first couple times with the Ark clinic. I called the clinic and asked why, the only time we did not go back with him, did it not work? How was it able to be accomplished in such a short amount of time. I advised the rep that I did not believe the shot was given to him. She stated she would look into it and let the head vet look at my dogs file. When she got back to me, she stated the head vet said it was maybe because he had a skin infection and it didn't work for him that one time. My dog was not tested for a skin infection the first couple times, he had the same red rash as always, if that would have affected the outcome, it would had the first couple times, that he didn't get treated for it. I believe he did not get a shot, he was walked back and nothing was done. My dog takes some settling down, because we don't drug him to take him in, so he would not have been relaxed enough for the tech to just give him the shot, and it didnt work. I believe they did not give the shot. read more

But when a place overcharges you for a simple procedure even when quoting you 300 dollars less, confuses another animal as your own, and FAILS to give post op instructions AFTER A SURGERY even when I called 3 times, it becomes clear this place cares only about money. I have been taking my 8 year old cat to The Ark since he was an itty bitty kitten and can't say enough nice things this place and all the staff there! I love that they specialize in preventative medicine and are understanding when it comes to cost conscious pet owners. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. I had one receptionist get really snippy with me once because I only wanted to buy single doses of flea treatment as opposed to buying 3 doses each for all my animals, I found her to be quite rude. I called to ask how much it would cost to have our sweet old girl put to sleep, because of a mass tumor. They quoted me the total would be $125 give or take. They put us in a room to say goodbye to her. There was no exam or treatment. In the middle of our family saying goodbye with tears in our eyes, we paid. They brought in the invoice and the bill was $301. They took advantage of us in our emotional state. Very unethica and wrong! We won't be coming back. Everyone is very knowledgeable and practice a much higher/better standard of medicine. It is obvious that the staff cares for pets and pet owners. I appreciate that every doctor I have seen here has taken the time to educate me and spend time discussing any concerns I may have. Pricing is comparable to surrounding clinics (not low cost). The office staff aren't organized. The gave me incorrect appointment times (which I had to schedule time off work for). They made several billing mistakes that cost a total of $100, had I not caught them. Not a fan of their customer service skills, either. They shamed me for declining to biopsy a tissue sample from a 14-year-old dog. With an animal who's a senior, I feel it's reasonable to treat their conditions conservatively if they're not in pain. They will assume you're not a good pet owner if you have a budget and limitations on treatment. In a perfect world, a client would spent unlimited money on an animal, but that's just not realistic for most people right now. They flat out assumed a had not cared for my dog, which was interesting because I came to them with prior records (they didn't bother to add to their files). They missed a mass on an exam from over a year ago (which was initially why I had brought my dog into their clinic). Probably the worst vet clinic I've ever worked with. We are very disappointed with The Ark. Our first visit we waited in our exam room for an hour and when they came in, yes they apologized for not knowing we were here, and offered free nail trimming for our dogs we were still disappointed. We gave them all of our paperwork on both our dogs but then the next visit we were told we needed to give our dog their booster and luckily I had the documents on my phone to show we have done this. That would have been bad to get double boosters within 6 months. They have been my dog's Vet for over 5 years. And how wonderful they have been, from checkups to 'urgent care' Einstein trod on a bee, and his paw was swollen - they were great. Always great. Times have been really hard for us th past few months, we were evicted from our home, and in all this, Einstein got some care - we were able to pay the doctors bill, but not the $40 for meds. Its all I can do to not be evicted again, although we are starting to see more work come in, so I hope to pay soon. Einstein has a lump in his tummy, we found it a few days ago. He may need a lot of care, in which case we will have to find him a family that can provide what he needs and deserves. It may be nothing much, in which case we can keep him and love him as part of our family. I took him to the arc, and was told nothing could happen without payment. I explained my situation, and offered a token 25% payment ($10) on the outstanding amount, and a plan for payments so I could see if my dog needs to be surrendered to a humane society to receive what I cannot supply. I was told that as it was not urgent (really!!??) they would not see him. I run my own business - I get that you need to make money, and you need clients that pay in a timely manner. But I know sometimes you have to go a little further. I run a computer programming company, I have helped clients down on their luck who need some work done, I have done it from kindness or the promise of a future check. I understand the need for money for any business to survive, but to refuse a payment, and refuse to just see what help my dog may need. I was given a phone number (and a credit card application. Alas both were as useless as the Arc was. I am truly disappointed. They are a great vet on technical merit, but if you want vet who cares, I regret to say this is not the one for you. read more

When brought to the front desk 's attention, she was quick to try to pass the buck. Complete disregard for the heartache incurred a second time by their complete incompetence.
