Stopping by NYC you do your research and see Peter Lugers of course. Stopped by this classic joint to see if the hype is real. We got the steak for one (good enough for two, buttery delicious) , cream of spinach (solid side dish, not wow"d), complementary bread, and Luger pint (locally brewed, nice sipper). Overall, is it worth it? I would say to cross it off your list yes. The steak is good, is it the best I've had at a restaurant? No. Is it a good steak, yes (you won't leave disappointed but won't leave saying that was the best ever either). It does give an old school vibe, you feel like you're walking into the past. Service is on point, they are attentive. Bring cash. Give this spot a try.
I wasn't sure what to expect from a 135 year old steak house but was very excited to have the opportunity to dine at Peter Luger with my wife and sons. Our reservation was for 8:45 and we were seated around 9:00. I honestly thought given the age and reputation the lighting would have need more subdued but it was pretty bright. Our server Aloisious ( who was amazing ) came by and took our drink orders and we ordered a couple salads as appetizers. A Cesar's and a house along with a nice basket of bread. They were ample and very good. We then ordered the steak for 3 and the Char fish dish. The steak was a combo of NY and T bone cooked medium to perfection. The Char was huge and wonderful. We had a side of asparagus and the German potatoes. All in all it was a great experience at a fair price. Cross this one off my bucket list!
My best steak ever in New York City!!! An incredibly satisfying meat-eating experience. Single Steak: The best steak I've ever had, bar none. I chose the medium, and the steak was exceptionally thick, with a perfect pink center. The tenderness and juiciness were astonishing. Even more impressive was the cocktail sauce paired with it; the tangy tomatoes and slightly zingy mustard perfectly cut through the richness of the steak. My parents chose well-done. Although the surface looked a bit charred, the meat was incredibly tender and juicy. To make well-done like this is a testament to their expertise since 1887. The portion was also huge; two single steaks were more than enough for three people. If you don't need to differentiate doneness, I recommend ordering Steak for 2 for even more meat. Luger's Sizzling Bacon, Extra Thick: Before even tasting the steak, the bacon had already blown me away. The bacon was perfectly salty, with a rich and direct aroma of smoke and fat. Because it was thick-cut, it had a thin, caramelized crust on the surface, while the inside remained soft and tender. Absolutely delicious! Table Bread: I've never seen such a large portion... even the three of us couldn't finish it for lunch the next day. The round one with scallions on top was the best; the bread was soft, and the aroma of scallions, salt, and butter was very strong. Next was the long one with fennel seeds on top; although a bit harder, it was salty enough and quite fragrant. The worst was the round one without any spices; the bread was coarse and very bland. The ambiance was old-money style, with a sense of occasion, very fitting for the restaurant's illustrious history. However, there was a lot of things to improve regarding the service . First, they didn't accept credit cards; second, it was difficult to get through by phone; third, one of our orders was forgotten; and fourth, the plate cracked from the heat when it was about to be served...
Well perceived steakhouse but wouldn't say was the best. Very kind service, expect to wait at least half an hour for food to arrive. Free breads with butter but were stale and like warm + Steak for three ($233.85): filet mignon pieces were my favorite followed by specific steak cuts. All meats tasted great w the house sauce, which reminded me of a cocktail sauce + Ribeye steak for two ($157.95): ordered medium rare, tad overdone + Bacon ($8.95 per slice): thick and 1 could serve 2-3 people. tender and crispy edges + French fried potato for 2 ($18.95): perfect thick, crispy fries. Ideal steak cut + Creamed spinach ($18.95): wasn't creamy enough + Sautéed broccoli ($16.95): classic simple broccoli but nicely pairs with the heavy meat
The Famous Peter Luger Steakhouse! Sure doesn't disappoint! We've been to the Great Neck location and had a great experience, but wanted to come to the original location. Make sure to make a reservation on Resy early on if you're dining in the evening or the weekend, because their reservations fill up fast! We got the thick cut bacon (must have), Steak for Two (porterhouse), and Creamed Spinach (delicious) and Grilled Asparagus (lightly flavored, nice change of flavor). The steak is delicious and well worth the hype, both with and without their famous steak sauce. The service is good, and the restaurant is simple but nice. Parking can be difficult with side street parking. Overall, highly recommended!
An absolutely must try if you come to New York and be aware that you will need a reservation to eat here as it is very popular. It's nothing fancy, but the star of the show is fully described in the steak. The steak comes in a sizzling hot plate with beef juice and oil savored over the meat. We opted for the porterhouse which contains one side ribeye and the other side NY steak, giving you two very contrasting flavor and texture. It was so good that I forgot to take more pictures with the sides that we ordered, cream spinach and potatoes. The waiter was really friendly and the atmosphere was going for a classic vibe to really spotlight the steak and their commitment to it. We took public transportation to get there, with a 5 minute walk. Remember they ONLY take CASH on a hand written receipt, be prepared as the steak goes to $100s to $200s.
I mean... what else is there to say other than holy cow. This was the best steakhouse experience of my life and it may not be topped again here in the states. They know what they're doing and they do it right. The staff, too, were all so great. We were way early and they were able to accommodate and get us in. Our waiter was the man, and the whole place lived up to what you want.
We were there to celebrate our birthdays. The meal was fantastic. The complimentary bread was warm and I liked the garlic or cheese one the best. The thick cut bacon was good, not too oily and not too dry. Te steak was grilled perfectly, so tender and the outside was so crispy. We also got a grilled asparagus, which was crunchy but tender. The service was so good, felt like home, and the decoration was old school but clean.
it's really worth the hype! Finally, I got to try this place after having it in my list for the longest time. I thought I was gonna try the one in Vegas because it's closer to me so grateful that I could have it at their first location in Brooklyn. Definitely needs to make a reservation, even it's weekdays because it was packed when I came in a Wednesday. All that we ordered were awesome. Creamy spinach top-notch, bacon is delicious and porterhouse is well seasoned and perfect temperature. Love to service love the staff love the attentiveness and everything is just good. Love their decorations so like old kingdom, Irish interior.
My prior visit was in 2006 so it was about time. Possibly it was user error that I got the burger medium-well instead of medium; it was good but not game-changing. But the fries were great, along with the horseradish-laden sauce and the wonderfully oniony, bialy-esque bread. The service was first-rate. I appreciate that the lunch options are available for those use who might want to enjoy this historic space without a triple-digit bill.
Everyone has read Pete Wells' infamous NYT review, and my expectations were pretty low. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the fries were so crispy. The steaks had a very rich dry aged flavor, with a good balance between beefy/funky taste (sometimes I find dry aged steaks too funky). Of course, the steak wasn't perfect because one side didn't have a crust, but it was overall a very solid steak. Would definitely come back. Cash/debit card only.
Compared to other steaks this was pretty good. While there were things I felt they could've done better it was very enjoyable eating at a historical establishment. Our waiter was super cheerful and a joy to have. Loved the experience and the meal left me full and energized.
Peter Luger Steak House is as reliable as it gets. I've been multiple times and have never had an issue with consistency. The steak for two and rib steak are both excellent rich, well executed, and exactly what you expect from a place with this reputation. The lunch burger also stands out and easily holds its own among the best in NYC. The old school beer hall atmosphere is truly one of a kind and has kept all its original character. Service is efficient and straightforward. A true classic I keep coming back to.

I had an incredible meal at Peter Luger Steak House and ordered the steak for two. The steak was cooked perfectly with a beautiful crust on the outside and tender, juicy flavor in every bite. The ambiance feels classic and old school, giving it that iconic New York steakhouse vibe. The service was professional and efficient, making the entire dining experience feel seamless and worth the visit. Easily one of the best steaks that I have ever had! Hands down, the best steak I've ever had. The way they cook and season it brings out incredible flavor - it was absolutely perfect. The bacon and salads were equally delicious, and even the bread basket was outstanding. Service was excellent from start to finish, making the experience even more enjoyable. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in New York, and I can't wait to return. read more

I gotta say the best steak I ever had! First time here and was told by my dad to come try this place out! It's one of the best steakhouse in America! I was very impressed! They only take reservations a month ahead and lucky I planned everything and got us a table!! I know how busy this place would be and was very happy to get a table! Visiting New York for 5 days and had to come here! Everything looks so nice and fancy! They have all there awards hanged on the walls, bar was so nice and organized, tables and inside was so organized and clean! Once we got in we got seated right away! Took some nice photos as well! The waiter was so nice! Probably the nicest New Yorker on this tripXD he recommended the PORTERHOUSE steak for two so we got that with the Irish coffee and New York cheese cake. The steak came out and oh my god just looking at it I was like "damn this is so pretty" the steak was perfect! Rare like how we wanted and very juicy as well! It was so good like the best steak ever! They also cut it for you too so you don't have to do it yourself! And their homemade steak sauce was amazing! No wonder it's hard to get reservations here! It's the best steakhouse ever! I wanted to take the bone home cuz my mom's dog wanted it so I asked the waiter if he can pack it for me and he was so nice that he threw in more bones for meXD Lastly we got our New York cheese cake and Irish coffee and damn it was probably the best New York cheese cake too! The texture was just on point! And the Irish coffee was delicious as well! Went well with the New York cheesecake! We wanted to take good pictures of the desserts so the waiter threw in a bunch of gold coins to make the photos look better! Very nice guy! Then at the end we ordered a couple of their homemade steak sauce to bring back home to our friends and family! It's the best steak sauce! If you ever here you have to get a couple bottles! It's only $5 a bottle and the bottle is big! And they pack it well for you as well! Our bill came to $300 for the 2 of us with tip included and this was so worth it! I really enjoyed everything! I'm pretty happy with my experience! I don't think I had ever had good steak like this before and will come back! For the pricing it's so affordable! Like you would think a steakhouse this famous would be more expensive but it's not! The price you paying is the price you'll be getting! It's so worth it! I would highly recommend this place! Ok. This is more of a New York experience than a culinary palate extravaganza. The dishes are prepared extremely well albeit straight forward. Not a lot of subtly here. It's more of an In Your Face goodness! Service was very East coast New York. Lots of personality and low on pleasantries due to being busy. Nothing wrong with that. It's part of the experience. Just stay in your seat during this roller coaster ride. No picking your cut of steak. You're getting the T-bone ribeye. It was REALLY good, but I have had better. Just saying. But don't let that dissuade you. You have to go to this place once in your life. read more

This was on our hit list from the moment we booked our trip to NYC and we quickly found out when we arrived for our reservation that it was on everyone's hit list too. Wow, the lobby was packed. unfortunately we didn't get seated for about 30 minutes after our reservation time but the food was worth the wait. We started with the wedge salad and the bacon was huge portions of pork belly style bacon. Sooo good. We also ordered the steak for two probably could feed three and the filet of some which was also surprisingly so delicious. Service was excellent! Although we dressed up, ambiance inside was quite casual and old school. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place given its legacy and reputation, but unfortunately, the experience didn't come close to living up to the hype. For a restaurant with such a long-standing name, I expected way more. The steak was underwhelming and lacked seasoning. The sides? Disappointing--some were even cold. And the "famous" burger? Dry and forgettable, served on what felt like a crouton masquerading as a bun. If you're coming here for a special night out, I'd think twice. There are far better steakhouses in the city for the price. read more
Peter Lugers is worth the hype! I have wanted to eat here for a long time and the stars finally aligned today. My wife and I were able to Uber here from midtown. We had a 445 reservation on a Saturday in place. We were promptly seated. Our waiter was extremely attentive. The wait staff appeared to be older but effective. The rolls were outstanding. My wife and I split the steak for two with German Fried potatoes. When the food came out our waiter put some steak and potatoes on each of our plates. He even scooped some steak juice on our steak. The desserts looked amazing but I didn't have room in my stomach. Steak for two with fried potatoes and tax was 174.00. It was worth every penny. I'd go again in a second. This old school steak house has a well deserved reputation. read more
The food was fantastic but they lost a star mostly for the slow service. We came for lunch (be sure to make a reservation). Between the two of us we shared a huge slice of bacon, a crab cake and the steak sandwich with fries. The crab cake was perfect, crispy on the outside with little to no filler mixed in with the crab plus it's huge! It comes with a sauce but I asked for extra of the horseradish spread that comes on the steak sandwich and I enjoyed the crab more with the horseradish than the sauce it came with. The bacon tasted to me more like ham steak because it is so thick but it was still really tasty. The steak sandwich was very tender but it could have used a little more steak. They have a house made steak sauce that I found a tad too sweet versus tangy. We both had the draft Luger Lager and it went great with the meal. The food came out in a timely manner but it took too long to get a second beer and then later to get the check and to-go boxes considering it wasn't that busy. It's pricey but the dress code is very casual, which is a plus when on vacation. read more

Food: 4 Decor: 3 Service: 3 Came here for lunch with a friend. Overall decent steak although not sure it's worth the hype. USDA Prime Beef steak for two. As always, family selected and dry-aged in-house 4/5. Nice juicy medium temp. Definitely more than enough portion size for two people. Service was okay. Peter Luger - a restaurant that has seeped its way into popular culture for a variety of reasons. Take your pick - being one of the oldest steakhouses in NYC, the quality of the food, their (former) Michelin Star, their cash/debit only policy, the zero-star review from NYT food critic Pete Wells, or the numerous posts influencers make about it. No matter the reason why, there is no doubt PL's is super popular and a major attraction point for locals and tourists alike. I am not a big red meat eater, but wanted to experience it for myself. That being said, my friend and I decided to book a table and off we went. PL's has been around since 1887 - the original location is here in Brooklyn, and they have additional locations in Great Neck, Vegas, and Tokyo. We arrived on time for our reservation to a crowded bar area; after checking in and a short wait, we were led to our table. The restaurant is separated into different dining rooms with simple and classic decor - think dark wood tones contrasting with lightly-painted walls. There's exposed beams that are accented with tasteful chandeliers and simple wooden tables/chairs with no tablecloths. I've been to other steakhouses that are more ornate in decor, but this worked. The menu is simple - simpler than other steakhouses but the essentials were there. Probably the biggest differentiation to other spots is that when it comes to steak they only offer two types that serves multiple people - though you can get a single steak and there are a few other proteins available. We started with drinks - I got one of their craft cocktails which was quite good - smooth and tasty. The bread basket shouldn't be ignored - they serve a variety of rolls which were all soft and fresh; my favorite was the onion roll. For apps we started with the bacon and Caesar salad. The bacon was thick-cut and huge - like substantial enough that one slice is enough for one person. Even with that, it was easy to manage, not overly fatty, had great flavor, and wasn't too salty - I was honestly surprised how much I enjoyed it. The salad was also good - dressed well with a good ratio of greens to croutons to cheese. They also served these in individual plates for us which I thought was a nice touch. We of course got the steak, which was great. It was served sizzing and cooked to our request. The beef was delicious on its own, but we did pair some bites with the steak sauce that was served at the start of the meal - seriously the sauce is great, put it on everything. The steak was as good if not better than ones I've had at other houses. We also got two sides - German potatoes and creamed spinach. These were great - the potatoes had great flavor and contained crispy bits that elevated them. The creamed spinach wasn't overly creamy which I really appreciated - the greens were the star. We ended with dessert and shared the ice cream sundae - this was excellent, plenty for two and topped with their homemade whipped cream. Service was excellent - I've heard this has historically been a sore spot for PL's but from my perspective it was on point. Food came out at a good pace, and our server was really friendly - making great suggestions. Some hot tips if you're planning on going - a reservation was relatively easy to make, though I would make one a few weeks out if you're planning to go for dinner. Their steak sandwich and burger are two menu highlights, but they are only available during lunch service (until 4pm). Finally, they only take cash or debit card. Overall, I'm glad I finally experienced Peter Luger - despite the criticisms I found nothing but excellent food and great service; there's a reason this is a NYC institution. I would definitely return - next time for lunch to get that burger ;-). read more

We decided to spend the 4th of July cooking postpartum Chinese delights for friends who had recently had babies. So to reward ourselves for our good deeds (and because we were in the area anyway to drop off the food), we decided to splurge on an early dinner at Peter Luger. Don't ask me why. I'm not even really into meat and never planned to come here for as long as I lived here. It just seemed like a very American, very NYC thing to do, and the timing was right: at 4pm, there was no wait for a table. We started with the Caesar Salad, which was fine, and the famous Luger's Sizzling Bacon, which was perfect for three people. I should've just thrown in the towel then, but we then got the Steak for Three with sides of Creamed Spinach and Mushrooms. All were as salty, greasy and tasty as I would expect any American steakhouse to be, but nothing more. My beloved ones insisted on getting Apple Strudel for dessert (because they have cavernous stomachs that I don't), so I watched them demolish that--okay, I had a small nibble and it seemed decent. Why the 2 stars? Good grief, the prices! Whenever I've paid that much for steak, I've at least had more than an "Eh" reaction. I get that I'm paying for history and blabbity blah blah, but even history shouldn't cost this much (or at least taste better). Def a one and done. read more
Finally tried this place and I had a pleasant experience! Love the decor here and love that they keep to their charm. We ordered steak for two medium rare and it was amazing! It was done just right for us. Very juicy and tender. They also come with the their signature sauce and that was spot on! Really elevated the meat and made it even better! Loved every bite. Also got their iceberg wedge salad and wow I did not expect it to be this good. That pork belly was so juicy and addicting! This salad was very memorable. Wish I tried their dessert but we were so full by the end. CASH ONLY! Debit card are accepted, especially if you are from USA. They don't accept debit card from abroad. Peter Luger's is one of the best in the country! Beware, they only accept Cash, Peter Luger House Account, Check or Debit Card. NO CREDIT CARDS. I still have my Luger house account. The staff marveled at my card from 40+ years ago. It's about the meat and they dry age and cut all in house. Im not normally a martini drinker, but theirs is a classic must have dirty with extra olives. Tomato and Onion starter drizzled with their famous Luger sauce Ordered 2, Porterhouse Steaks for 2 since between the 4 of us wanted it cooked differently (If you like you can again use their Luger sauce with the meat) Creamed spinach German potatoes Top notch meal with kudos to our highly engaging server, Lou!! This place is iconic and world renowned. I'm not a big fan of NYC steak, considering I've had steak in Osaka, Brazil, Argentina, Texas, etc so I think it will always pale in comparison to those places. However, if you're looking for good steak and great service in a vintage place, this is it. Every time I have friends and family come visit me in NYC, they want to try this place because they've heard of it and I'm always game to go. When you enter, there's a bar there to wait for your table to be ready. The service here is top notch. It's not the type of service where they make you feel rich. It's the type of service where they treat you like family, which I absolutely love. We were seated promptly when the party arrived and the place was super busy. We came during lunch time. I'm jumping straight into the main course review as I know why everyone is here to get. We ordered the Steak for 4. The steak is dry aged about 25 days or so, tossed into an oven to be cooked medium rare, and then basted in butter. They brought out the steak while it was still sizzling. I thought it tasted pretty good. If you look from my photos, you can see the middle portion is pretty rare with a solid outside crust. But you can see the grey band from crust to center. I think this takes away from the best potential steak of a really good cut of beef possible. Reverse sear would solve this problem, but their methods are part of their identity for 130+ years, so they aren't going to modernize to maximize a better taste. That's really unfortunate. At this point, you're coming for the nostalgia of it. We ordered the luger burger. Guys, this is the BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. It was just beef and bun and that was it. It was completely juicy and perfectly season. Cooked to perfection for a medium rare without the grey band you get from their steak. It literally melts in your mouth. I made a noise once it touched my tongue. Obviously, you're using very expensive cuts of beef, grinded in-house, to achieve this, so you wouldn't usually get this type of burger anywhere else. Ordered a sliced bacon, which I thought was ok. It's too thick. Salads are ginormous. Nothing to write home about. Creamed spinach was amazing. The service was top tier. We had heard of Peter Luger years before we started planning our New York trip, and had to make a stop here to try their famous steaks. Keep in mind to bring cash, debit card, or a personal check here since they don't take credit cards. We made reservations and showed up on time, there's still a short line to wait in so they can seat you. Honestly most of the diners here are tourists... We went for the steak for 2 cooked medium rare, along with some creamed spinach. The meal also comes with complimentary bread. The food came out rather quickly and service was excellent. The reason why I didn't give 5 stars for this review is because I felt the meat was a bit overcooked. The steak is brought out in their signature hot, sizzling plate. The first pieces that they give you, as soon as the steak arrives, is cooked at a perfect medium rare. However, as the plate remains scorching hot, it continues cooking the meat. I would have preferred that the meat is lesser done than requested when it's first brought out, leaving it to the diners to cook to their preference and leave the meat on the plate a bit longer, should they prefer a more well done steak. Because of this, towards the end of our meal, the steak was in medium well condition, almost well done. Despite all that, the meal was still excellent. The meat was juicy, tender, and the creamed spinach was a perfect complement. It was a very oily lunch, and I don't think my stomach quite agreed with me afterwards. Regardless, I am glad to have been able to indulge and experience Peter Luger. read more
I've loved Peter Luger Steak Sauce since I've been a kid. Only a few months ago did I find out they are a steak house that has been around for 135 years. Brooklyn is a hike from where I love so we planned it out and made the trip. I looked at reviews and spoke to friends that have been there. I was hoping it wasn't all hype just to be disappointed. Believe the hype, it is real. There are few meals I have vivid memories of. This will be one of them. The history of the restaurant is interesting. I won't bite anyone with all that I learned but I would definitely suggest looking it up on Google and YouTube. They accept cash and debit card, no credit cards. Parking isn't great, but after a few minutes we found a spot about two blocks away. I would suggest making a reservation. They get crowded. We got there a few minutes before our time and waited about two minutes. People without reservations were seated 30 minutes to an hour after we were. Walking in felt like we took a step back in time to simpler days. The restaurant had a great feel to it. It looked very classic and was clean. There is a bar on the main level. There are tables on the main level and upstairs. Our waiter was great. Constantly checked on us and took our order without having to write it down. The food was amazing. There is a gravy boat on the table filled with their sauce. It tastes better than the bottle which makes sense because it's freshly made. It's a very simple menu. A few apps, a few sides, and steak for however many people are eating. All of the steaks are porterhouse that are cooked to your preference. They place a small marker in your steak when it comes out marked with your choice. The presentation as it's brought out is nice to watch. The waiter angles your plate on a smaller plate to allow the butter and juices to drip to the bottom and then pour it back over the steak. We got medium rare. I loved it. Seasoned deliciously and sizzles as you are eating it. We also got fries and German Fried Potatoes. Both were great, crispy and had lots of flavor. We also had creamed spinach. I'm usually not a fan, but it was not mushy or runny. I had a little more than I was planning. We got the Holy Cow Hot Fudge Sundae with schlag on the side. It really hit the spot after such an amazing meal. I will definitely be coming back after such a great experience. Wish I could give them more than five stars. read more

I have been to the Peter Luger in Great Neck multiple times- this was my first time at the original Brooklyn location! With that in mind, I will continue to go to the Great Neck location. You walk in and are met with people standing and waiting in a narrow bar area. We waited about 45 minutes from our reservation time before being seated. The meal was of course delicious and the service was good. But nothing about the original location blew me away- there were tourists, it was more crowded and it was tough to park! Though the steak and food always hit the spot. read more

This came highly recommended so even before our trip to New York, we had made reservations. Just a word of caution, it can be difficult to book as we had to change plans to accommodate this reservation. So book early. Our hostess showed us to our table on the second floor. I chatted a bit with her and I learned that the basement is where they age their beef. Main and second floors are for dining while the third floor is a lounge for staff. We ordered the Rib Steak for Two and it was grilled to perfect doneness and seasoned well too. The dishes were served tilted to drain the oils to one side. A good cut of steak, aged well doesn't need much not even their very own steak house sauce served on every table. Such an iconic steak house is surprisingly unassuming. Menu looks simple - two pages without fancy fonts. Servers don't babble away. And table setting is straightforward - a plate, fork and steak knife - not even a dessert cutlery until dessert is ordered. Peter Luger steak truly speaks for itself. read more

Peter Luger in Brooklyn offers a solid dining experience, with a few standout items that really make it memorable. I tried both the burger and the short rib sandwich--both were delicious, but the shortrib sandwich absolutely stole the show. It was flavorful and tender, well balanced in flavor, a true highlight of the meal. The burger, on the other hand, was tasty but came with a generous amount of raw onion, so if you're not a fan of that, be aware before you dig in!!! We went for a Thursday lunch without a reservation and had to wait about 45 minutes/hour for a group of five, which is a bit long, but totally manageable considering the quality of the food (and of course, being THE Peter Luger! The ambiance was great, and the service was attentive, which made for an overall pleasant experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're visiting Brooklyn!! read more

classic staple steakhouse. the steaks are cooked phenomenally with a great char. we came for a late lunch so we could experience the burger. was a hearty burger and the fries were excellent. we started out with the caesar and crab cakes which were also delicious. overall; a nice place to treat yourself to good selection of steaks and sides read more
Having been to the Great Neck location, I wasn't expecting much from the OG Brooklyn location. Surprisingly, my dining experience here was much better than the Long Island location! We came here as a party of 8 to celebrate my dad's birthday, and we were able to book a reservation easily. As a party of 8, we decided on the Steak for Four, 3 pieces of bacon, a caesar salad, spinach, and mushrooms. This was the perfect amount of food for us - we were struggling a bit to finish the steak towards the end! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested, and I'd only note that it definitely needed a bit more salt. Mushrooms, on the other hand, were delicious but very heavily salted. Bacon, caesar salad, and spinach were all tasty. The bread rolls here were also sooo good. Felippe was a riot, and cracked jokes with our table the whole night. He provided excellent service, and shared tales of his recent travels to the aviation convention! Ambiance is relaxed, and dress code seems to range from casual to dressy. read more

A solid 5 stars for this iconic Brooklyn spot! I reserved a spot for lunch, we arrived a little early and waited in the bar until our table was ready a few minutes ahead of our reservation time. We sat in the room to the left of the bar, it is bright and spacious. Tables are well spaced and I appreciated that our party of two were given a four top. Loved the service, very professional, not at all rushed and attentive but not obtrusive. We ordered the lunch time only burgers and they were fantastic. Our waiter suggested medium rare and they were perfectly cooked. 8oz of prime dry aged beef with cheese and fries. The ratio of bread to meat was perfect, the thick slice of onion was the ideal accompaniment, and the burger held together and wasn't messy to eat. It was so flavorful, we didn't need any condiments with it. The fries were delicious, hot, golden and crispy and perfectly salted. We split the chocolate mousse cake for dessert- it was a big portion and very good. It came with a MASSIVE bowl of their signature ''Schlage' (whipped cream) which cut the richness of the chocolate nicely. I also had a Martini, again a generous size, and very well made. All in all the lunch was fantastic. I appreciated the extra touches such as complimentary bread and butter and after dinner chocolate coins. It's not cheap but not overly priced considering the quality and service. We will certainly be back! read more

Do they have parking?
No. There is street parking and a couple local lots but no dedicated parking.

A friend of mine usually gets them. They are pretty thick/double thick. You get two of them, so you can probably share. I'm also a steak person, but I must say they are very tasty!
Is there a dress code?
Not really. I wore a track suite and my son had jeans and a Tshirt. You can't wear swimwear or offensive clothing but other than that they are pretty relaxed
If you have a valet parking for dinner at 4 pm?
There is no valet but there is a self parking private lot for free across the street.
Is this place by reservation only? Is there walk-ins available?
Walkins are allowed however, I highly recommend a reservation because they're always busy

Yes, there are a limited number of walk up accommodations usually made. Also the eating at the bar is an option. I would recommend the spots near the windows.
Can I order a medium steak or does it have to be medium rare?
You can, but it won't come out that way.

You mean while dining? Or you want them to watch your stuff when you're done? They won't hold your luggage.

Casual is fine. There were people in shorts there when I went.

From my experience, you don't need to make a reservation for one person, there are plenty of seats on a weekday lunch
Do you need to make reservation for a party of 3?
My group of 3 didn't, we didn't wait to long and had a drink at the bar while we waited.
