The shrimp cocktail was incredible
Katey G.

I've been hearing a lot about La Tete dOr for a while now and was excited to spend my Tuesday night here. The dining room is beautifully decorated, and it feels intimate. Moody, warm lighting with a large dining room that still feels cozy, We ordered the small seafood tower, sweetbreads, scallop pasta, and crabs cake. The shrimp cocktail were incredible. Textually perfect large, meaty shrimp with a sprinkle of flakey salt and remoulade... memorable. Love the crab cake that was layered between two thin, crunchy buttered medallions. The scallop pasta was delicious with nice, firm handmade linguine. We love the prime rib and Sasso chicken. The waygu prime rib was huge, flavorful, and a little too fatty. It was still incredible and the saucier is working overtime. You must finish with the berry cassis and vanilla soft serve.... It is unreal and not to be missed!

Every year for my boyfriend's birthday, I take him to a steakhouse, and this year I chose La Tete d'Or. I was a little nervous about this place since it's not an institution like some other steakhouses in the city. However, I was very impressed with every aspect of our meal! The inside of the restaurant was spacious and beautifully decorated, and the dim lighting created a nice ambiance. We got the prime rib, steak frites, and gruyere potato gratin to share. I was afraid that it wouldn't be enough food without a starter, but we were honestly so stuffed that we ended up taking everything to go at the end. I'm not a big steak person, but the prime rib was delicious! My main focus was the sides though, which is why I was glad that the prime rib came with creamy spinach, mashed potatoes, and the popover. All of the sides were amazing, but the potato gratin was the star! This is a must-get. We also got the chocolate cake at the end, and I was so happy to see that it came with a candle! This is a great date night spot. Pretty pricey, but the service and quality of the food make it worth it!

Amazing dining experience. The ambiance is super sexy, great lighting and incredible music! This is THE perfect spot for date night! The food was incredible, however; my medium-rare steak came out medium which was disappointing. But everything else was a huge hit and the sundae as a dessert was a cute touch! Our server and bartender both provided excellent service of course!

The ambiance is great. It is a nice dining room with well-spaced tables. We cam for the prix-fixe lunch. I have had very mixed experience with Boulud restaurants. I also had a great experience at Boulud Sud, which is now closed. However, the more classical French restaurants continue to disappoint. I previously had a salade Lyonnaise at Bar Boulud. It was not very good - no lardons. I am not sure what it was that was substituted. Not close in quality that is routinely available in France. Similarly, the madeleines were horrible. However, for the most part, the food is fairly good. The prix-fixe lunch is fairly priced. The chicken paillard was very well prepared. The meat cart was not available and the steak was not all that tender. In short, this Boulud restaurant is a pleasant place for a meal, but the food is only fair.

Dined in the dining room to celebrate a divorce. Food was divine and service was top notch. The restaurant itself was a vibe. Would expect nothing less from a Daniel Boulud spot.

Lunch prixe fixe is a deal!!! The entrance is a showstopper- beyond wow and the room like Hawskmoor is expansive and super luxe. The prixe fixe is $55 or $75 for 3 courses. I got two and here's how it went. Ate: Sourdough bread & butter Lobster bisque Faroe salmon, lentils and butternut squash The bread is the issue. A slice came out- a slice of bread? Now this is better than Cqfe Chelsea with no bread service at lunch..., but a slice was chintzy. The lobster bisque was divine- very very fine! The salmon came with skin on as requested with not too creamy spinach and it was delicious. Would come back for dessert but the bread service was disappointing.

Was able to snag a last-minute reservation and WOW this place did NOT disappoint. There's a reason it's consistently listed as one of the top steak restaurants in NYC . The interior is moody, aesthetic, and calming in the best way. We sat in the bar lounge and honestly? Perfect choice. Ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it was absolute perfection. No notes. Paired it with the brussels sprouts and WOWWW - the flavor combo was unreal and easily one of the best sides I've had. And let's not forget the oysters fresh and delicious! ALSO! They had gluten free bread that was actually so good and didn't disintegrate as soon as you picked up. Wow chefs kiss, absolute perfection They were also incredibly on top of food intolerances which made the whole experience feel effortless. The cocktails are next level. Tried the Fumée Fumée and the Cigar à l'Orange. Sophisticated, boozy, balanced, impeccable presentation, and executed perfectly. Top tier service from start to finish. I got lucky with a same-day reservation, but I HIGHLY recommend booking ahead. Cannot recommend this place enough - already planning my return.

This review is for dinner. Overall I think this is a great spot to check out! Ambiance / Service: restaurant is very open and spacious and would be great for much larger parties. Ambiance is elevated and chic without feeling stuffy. There were more casually dressed people in jeans and sneakers, as well as people dressed more fancy - I would veer on the fancier, nicer side. Ideal for a birthday, celebration, or business dinner. Also came during the holidays - very festive. Service was absolutely spectacular: shoutout to the older waiter with an accent and bald head (lol). He made our dinner experience memorable. Food: ordered a lot. Seafood was all very fresh. Desserts are a must. Some standouts were: -LTD Caesar: made table side. It's exactly how a caesar should taste. -Crab Cake: the outside is slightly crunchy. Flavorful. -Bavette Steak: perfectly cooked, tender, well seasoned. We much preferred this over the rib eye (meat was chewy). -Gruyère Potatoes: YOU MUST GET THIS. I would come back just for this. Creamy, cheesy, saucy, and the top had a perfectly caramelized layer of cheese. -Citron Framboise: instagram worthy dessert. But it also tastes delicious. Light and fresh.

Wow- this place was absolutely delicious. We all had an array of different apps, entrees, and desserts. The staff was nice, great with food allergies, and the restaurant was beautiful. They had music playing but at a nice level too- and not too loud. We would definitely come back again soon. Enjoy.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful! From the moment you walk in you can feel the elegance. I made a reservation to celebrate my birthday milestone this year for my daughter and myself. NOTE: Reservations for this restaurant are NOT easy to get so try to have a couple of dates in mind just in case your first date doesn't work. I'm not big on celebrity chefs and I have been to at least one other Daniel Boulud restaurant but I loved this one. From the food to the service to the ambiance it's pricey but definitely worth it We started with the seafood tower, followed by salmon with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, I ended it with a sundae with all the fixings. It's not a place I would go to on the regular but it's definitely worth it for a special occasion.

November 21, 2025; Gold Digger ($24).

I had a fantastic lunch with my wife at La Tête d'Or, Chef Daniel Boulud's newest spot overlooking Madison Square Park. The space is absolutely gorgeous: vertical lighting fixtures hanging from soaring ceilings inspired by the Art Deco style of the building's original architecture, deep blue banquettes, warm woods and copper hues, and a stunning decorative art hood with a sculptural effect above the open kitchen (a real showpiece). The effect is just breathtaking without feeling formal. The $55 prix fixe 2-course lunch is a great value for the quality. However, I would certainly recommend also a cocktail or 2 to go along a plate of oysters. We ordered the West Coast Kusshi oysters: small but unbelievably plump and sweet, with that clean, briny snap Kusshis are known for. Our cocktails were excellent: * Minuit Manhattan -- rich and layered, with the Macallan and Barolo Chinato giving it this deep, wintery warmth. * Gold Digger -- bright, floral, and bubbly, the kind of cocktail that instantly puts you in a good mood. For starters, my Lobster Bisque was outstanding -- silky-smooth and flavorful; the potato, celery, and tarragon gave it an earthy, aromatic backbone instead of relying on just cream. My wife's Shrimp Cocktail featured beautifully chilled, perfectly snappy large shrimp with both French and American cocktail sauces -- a subtle but fun nod to the restaurant's transatlantic identity. For mains, the Grilled Atlantic Flounder was a highlight: delicate, moist flakes under a layer of crisp buttered breadcrumbs, all brought together by a bright, buttery beurre blanc. The peppery watercress on the side cut through the richness perfectly. My wife's Faroe Islands Salmon had a moist, buttery center with a lightly crisped exterior cooked flawlessly on the wood grill. The lentil ragout, butternut, and Dijon gave it an hearty balance. For sides, we added creamy spinach (rich and velvety without feeling heavy) and spicy broccolini (nicely charred with just enough heat to wake things up), and both were excellent. Service was warm and attentive, and despite the stunning design, the overall vibe is relaxed, welcoming, and never pretentious. You will feel at home here whether you're wearing a suit or ia hoodie and sneakers. A beautiful space, exceptional cooking, and fantastic value -- we had a wonderful time and highly recommend it. I can't wait to come back!

Outstanding mussels, crab cake, and a perfect prime rib. I thought the Bavette was excellent as well but would probably try something different next time. Caesar was great as well, as was the soft serve for dessert. (We would've gotten more dessert but we had dessert at home.)

Rolling Roast Cart
Chad T.

A wonderful new steakhouse by Daniel Boulud! We came for lunch and there is a great lunch prix fixe option, $55 for two courses + side or $75 if you want the dessert. It's actually a great deal for such a nice upscale restaurant. The rolling cart roast selection of the week this week was a Manhattan cut roast, cooked perfectly and we also tried the prime rib sandwich which is served open face with the melted cheese over it. Both were delicious, I would love to come back and try the lobster roll and a few other menu options. I almost never find myself in this neighborhood so its definitely out of the way and hard to work into the rotation for any evening events though, that's the only problem. I wish this restaurant were in midtown west so it could be a pre-theater option!

I doubt they would let a stroller in. They push around a cart with meats, desserts and their prime rib. There could be high chairs. I did not see any children younger than maybe 6 or 7. You may want to call.

Looking around everything was the old classic/stereotypical ideas of a what a great steakhouse should be and it did not disappoint. For dessert, the legendary cheesecake with coffee and the baked Alaska. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. In this restaurant the waiters make everyone feel important and special and maybe it's a little pricey but it's New York and they have been around for a really long time so they knew what they are doing and are doing it GREAT.

The bone-in ribeye steak was just ok (dry-aged, bone-in ribeye was tough and gristly with a lot of sinew in my cut - unexpected for a good cut of what should be well-marbled meat). Asparagus on the greasy side. Lavender creme brulée was good, though, really could taste the lavender hint over the creamy custard with just the right hint of a crunchy sugar melted on top.
