I went to Hav & Mar for the Mermaid Hour. I got the Lemon Drop Martini, Tuna Taco, Hav Smash, and the Lax Tostada. The space is beautifully decorated. The fish was so fresh and everything was bright. The have smash was so unique and had a lil kick to it!

CHOCOLATE TART - my favorite of the evening

If you're looking for a place to warm up in this cold weather, Hav & Mar is the place for you. Not so much because of the indoor temperature, but because of the incredibly warm and welcoming staff. Rarely have I encountered this combination of true professionalism combined with joyfulness and warm hospitality. Even if the food wasn't as great as it is, I would come back just to be around the people! Food-wise, I'd especially recommend the lamb dumplings, but the octopus, black cod, and Nordic forest (mushroom) curry were also great. We had the chocolate tart for dessert, which was both delicious and just plain fun to eat, with great flavor and lots of fun textures between the crispy crust, creamy topping, chunks of cake, and airy foam. To add to the coolness factor, Chef Marcus Samuelsson was there that evening, not only expediting but coming out to greet a few tables. I highly recommend giving Hav and Mar a try. I'm confident it will put a smile on your face like it did mine.

Really nice vibe and ambiance. Was nice to see the Afro Caribbean influence in music and decor. The food was also really good. The only thing I didn't love was the fried rice. It seemed more wet. Closer to a paella. But I'd come back.

What a treat it was to enjoy another Marcus Samuelson restaurant in great company to kick off the new year! It was over a decade ago when I first dined at Aquavit when Samuelson was at the helm. Now in 2026, I was glad to share another memorable dining experience at another one of his restaurants. Hav & Mar is a beautiful restaurant with an inviting bar area that welcomes you as soon as you walk through the doors. With a reasonable happy hour menu, the bar was a great spot for mingling before you sit down for your meal. The dining menu was definitely globally-influenced in a good way. There were starter options such as ceviche and entree options such as a Nordic Forest curry. With a group of six, we wanted to try many of the items on the menu. Therefore, I suggested we opt for the chef's table option and leave it up to the chef to curate our culinary adventure for the evening. That turned out to be one of the best decisions for the new year (so far)! We were first greeted with the Fluke Ceviche that we were planning to order and got three plates to share among the six of us, along with some amazing warm dinner rolls. The ceviche was refreshing, with just the right amount of acidity. Then came a salad dish that might have been off the menu, with chopped kale, fresh figs, grapefruits, etc. that offered various textures with each bite. When it came to entree time, we got the following three items: Nordic Forest Curry, D & D Salmon (2 portions), and Havatini 2.0 (2 portions). We also got three portions of the Hav Fries, which included yucca and sweet potato fries with shiro hummus and awaze dips. The curry and salmon were delicious and complex in taste. Although not a fries person, I also enjoyed the fries a lot. On the other hand, the Havatini was on the spicier side that even my Korean friends stayed away from the dish after a couple bites as the spicy aftertaste was a bit overwhelming. For dessert, we got three portions of the orange Pavlova, which was just the light approach we needed to tie a bow on an incredible meal. In terms of service, the entire team was friendly and responsive to our group. Kudos to that!

This was some of the best food I've eaten in nyc in awhile. Everything was delicious and 10/10. The interior was beautiful. The service was nice and quick. I'd definitely dine again.

Fluke Ceviche (part of Restaurant Week menu (~$60))

Ordered: Tivoli Gardens (~$16): Swedish aquavit with raspberry, pineapple, hibiscus, and fresh mint Ka-Shasha Fierce (~$17): cachaça infused with fresh herbs, floral orange blossom, and earl grey tea Hav Bread Basket (~$21): assortment of teff biscuits, warm blue cornbread, injera crisps, and flatbread served with shiro hummus, honey butter and seasonal plantain jam Addis York (~$35): fried chicken with Ethiopian doro wat stew topped with ayib cheese, and a soft-boiled egg Restaurant Week Menu (~$60pp) - Fluke Ceviche: chilled fluke cured in citrusy yuzu with carrot and fresh cilantro - Swediopian: cured salmon, sliced and served with fresh sea buckthorn, a light fennel salad and a spiced mustard sauce topped with a coffee injera crumble - Second Course: Havatini 2.0: campanelle, shrimp, crab, uni butter - Third Course: Orange Pavlova: vanilla bean whipped cream, blood orange sorbet Aya's take: Hav & Mar is a Swedish & Ethiopian restaurant which is a fusion concept you just never hear about! It's a seafood-focused restaurant so we leaned into that with our orders. We stopped by for Restaurant Week 2026; they offer a 3-course meal for ~$60. I tried 2 starter dishes, the Fluke Ceviche and Swediopian. It's certainly smaller than what it would be a la carte which I wish was made clear on the RW menu. Not my favorite but both were fresh, citrusy, and bright. I'm so glad we got the Hav Bread Basket; that is a must for the table! Every single bite in that basket was delicious. I can't decide what I liked more - the teff biscuits or the blue cornbread. The injera crisps were so creative and each of the dips paired well with the breads. For my main, I went with the delicious Havatini 2.0. This is probably the same as their a la carte portion. The uni butter is rich and luscious. There was a good amount of shrimp and crab, and the campanelle was such a unique pasta choice and paired well for this dish. We also added on the Addis York since that is one of their classic dishes. The fried chicken was sweet, smoky, and fried well and the doro wat stew was bursting with flavor. I've also never had a soft-boiled egg cooked to perfection like that. It's a stunning dish, and honestly, it's a shame they didn't include this on their RW menu. We ended with the Orange Pavlova and had a few cocktails which were strong & nice to sip on. The space is elevated, chic, and modern. We also had the pleasure of seeing Chef Marcus Samuelsson himself! Good experience overall!

Such a fun experience! Really nice inside. Excellent service. The food was great too. Honestly, I loved my entree, but the bread basket was the highlight of my visit. Do NOT miss the bread basket. I hate spending money. But this bread basket was worth it.

Great vibe, music and service. Modern inside with lovely mermaid art. Enjoyed most of the food and drinks. Started with fluke ceviche and curry goat dumpling. Both were good except the portion for the ceviche felt pretty light. I think it felt stretched in a plate too big for its size. The black bass was cooked perfectly light. There was some kind of crispy ball with it. Honestly have no idea what it was but it was delicious. Dessert was ok - tried the chocolate tart. Nothing wrong with it but nothing to highlight. Espresso was just right to cap the evening.

Hav & Mar is great date night spot - it's got an elevated and cool vibe with great food to match. we got the cornbread, sea bass, and mushroom curry which were all very nice and showcased both the ethiopian and swedish inspiration for the resto well. the service was also great - attentive without being overbearing and very low pressure on timing and order choices.

Veryyy cool space and very large. Drink menu was good and fun! Forgot the two drinks we got but both were delish. The food is so fun and so good! Everything we had was so yummy! We ended up doing the restaurant week menu but so many things on the regular menu looked good as well.

I came in town and my friends wanted me to try a new place that had good flavors. This place was exactly what they said and more. The flavors were perfect and the service was spot on. Every dish made my mouth smile.

Overall wanted to like this restaurant more than I did. Unfortunately we had cases of food poisoning from this restaurant I think from the Addis York which was extremely disappointing. We started with the bread basket which was great. Small for the price though. The goat dumplings were very gamey. The spring salad was also average. The sauce was quite greasy but the cook on the dumplings was good. The salmon seemed a bit under but ok. No one liked the mussels rice cake underneath. The mushroom curry was the crowd favorite and had great flavor. The grilled chicken was cooked well but tasted average. The Addis York tasted weird but ok until we realized that caused the food poisoning due to process of elimination of who ate what. The service was awesome. The vibe was beautiful. But unfortunately the food did not meet expectations.

To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. We thought mini golf was interactive, everyone had the same chance to play and it's simple enough without exerting too much energy (unlike an escape room or the dancing tiles which I also came across in my research). Great place for friends, families, dates of all ages. They also told us about the rooftop lounge, which is covered with plastic and they have heaters blasting the space. We went with the cabin themed. Although I don't think they completely blocked the 3rd floor with the party, we just didn't want to have to compete with others and wanted a quiet experience. They have stairs or an elevator. Once we got to the 2nd floor, we were the only ones there and were explained how the digital scoring works. We inputted our names, and our scoreboard would follow us from board to board in sequence after we all punched in our scores. The max was 6 putts per course to help keep things moving (we definitely played more than 6 on some courses lol). The courses did progressively get more challenging as you moved on. The decor was beautiful. Fairy lights lined the space with murals or a ski lodge/mountains around with a polar bear and a ski mobile. Many cute photo ops. On the last course, once you made it, the game swallowed your ball, I guess to help prevent you from trying to play the course again. I wish there was more than 9 courses though. It was fun enough but maybe having a few more would have helped fill the time more. Time flew by and we had lots of laughs. Would be excited to come back to try the museum course next time.

After some back-and-forth, we learned the vouchers could only be used on the second floor, and if used for drinks, there was only one option available -- a blue rum drink with coconut. Unfortunately, the drink missed the mark for me and my friends, and the recipe could definitely use some improvement. We were also never shown where our reserved seating was, which was disappointing. That said, I had an amazing group of friends, and we still made the night a lot of fun. We played the Lodge course on the second floor, which is their most challenging course and beautifully decorated. I also loved the tablet that kept score for us -- it was a great touch. The rooftop area is another highlight: it's heated and really enjoyable during the winter. Overall, while the atmosphere and mini golf were fun, I wouldn't book a party package again -- it wasn't worth the cost. Next time, I'd just pay for mini golf directly.
