Nice experience at Chart House for a birthday dinner last month. Then wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, and I got to the the menu home (tied up in a ribbon) to commemorate the birthday. Drinks were high quality, food was sophisticated and well cooked, and the restaurant itself felt upscale. There is also a beautiful view of the Hudson River / NYC from the dining room. My one negative is only the 2nd floor bathroom was open (not an issue for me, but was an effort for elderly companions). I've been to Chart House prob over 50 times and truth be told it's good sometimes and bad other times. We also heard it's closing. We went Friday night to say goodbye and it was one of the best experiences we ever had! Our waitress Genesis was great! My meal did come out wrong but it was quickly replaced. The bonus was I got less string beans , biut a bigger piece of fish. The dinner was well paced and everything tasted great. They finally get it together after 20+ years and now they decided to close. This place has always been a 10 out of 10 for me! I found out that they will be re-branding soon and it will be known as a high end steak restaurant known as Mastros Steakhouse so I visited with my daughter we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of appetizers started with the best Kimchi Calamari in town. We also tried the meatballs and it was delicious we were not too crazy about the ceasar salad the dressing was missing something but the bowl was made of cheese which was a nice surprise being a cheese lover and all lol the crab cake was good but way too pricey for just one crab cake. Went to the Chart House for a wedding and it was a pleasant experience. The unobstructed views of midtown Manhattan are beautiful and added to the enjoyment of the celebration. The service throughout the wedding was impeccable. At every turn, we were treated like royalty and it was very much appreciated. Each course was well presented and my portion of the salmon was large and flavorful. I also enjoyed their outdoor patio, as well. In between wedding halls, this patio allows attendees to enjoy the beautiful views, take memorable photos, and/or enjoy a drink on high stool tables. Came here a few years ago and couldn't even finish the food. Was super disappointed. Then a friend convinced me to give it a second chance, a couple months ago. Glad she did. We went for Happy Hour (great deals!) and all the food was delicious. Cocktails were good too and service was alright. They get pretty busy around 5pm but it's understandable. The restaurant is huge so it was sometimes difficult to get a hold of our server, but we were able to get others. Our host was great and made great recommendations! The first Christmas I have eaten out was at the Chart House and it was packed. It's a beautiful restaurant on the water that looks over at NYC which is absolutely beautiful at night. It was crowded but we didn't have to wait too long for our table. They only had a 3 course menu to choose from. We started with mussels - which were not part of the 3 course menu, followed by New England Clam Chowder, Chilean sea bass with lobster risotto and we ended with cheesecake. My daughter had the lobster tails instead of the fish. The mussels and clam chowder were divine! OMG I'm still thinking about those mussels. My sea bass tasted a little fishy which turned me off and one of my daughter's lobster tails was overcooked. My lobster risotto was really good though. The funny thing is somewhere in between us finishing our meal and waiting for dessert, our waiter disappeared. It took so long to flag someone down to bring our dessert we got it to go. Our server was so polite and just the right amount of attentive. The cocktails were great and the food was tasty. The hummus appetizer is. Healthy serving and comes with 3 different types of hummus. FOOD -- 4.3/5 MUST ORDER: the kimchi calamari! The portion is a huge shareable platter and the sauce they batter this in is unique and works great with the calamari. We also ordered the coconut shrimp and the middle (coconut milk sauce?) is so good, we asked for another cup of it! BE AWARE the prime rib is kind of fatty... I ate a whole chunk of fat in one bite and had to spit it out. I got the NY strip and the steak was seasoned well (I prefer saltier foods). 3 potato mash was also really good. I heard their drinks are also sweeter so I got the strawberry lemon drop with a double shot and it was definitely pretty strong. EXPERIENCE -- 5/5 If you're looking to book a window table, the hostess let me know over the phone that they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Little bumps in service attributed to the fact that there are a lot of special events held here, mostly birthdays. Everything went well except that the appetizers weren't cleared before the entrees arrived and we stacked up all the used plates ourselves and put them on one side of the table. All good, it was a large table with a perfect view and all can be forgiven under those circumstances. We weren't rushed, our drinks were refilled and the server took our group photos with the spectacular NYC skyline. We had the kimchi calamari, meatball and coconut shrimp appetizers. Most us ordered from the chart your course which consisted of your choice of a soup or salad, entrée and a dessert. Our table also ordered the Mediterranean Hummus Tasting that included avocado, roasted red pepper, Kalamata grilled pita and taro chips. I'm not a big hummus fan but the roasted red pepper one was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the Caesar salad for an appetizer. My steak with mash potatoes and asparagus was delicious. Just a few updated notes after our umpteenth visit to this Chart House. Fiery cucumber is always a great martini choice. Very pleasant. Calamari was particularly fun, with a variety of veggies mixed in along with the calamari. Tried the prime rib. It was a decent cut, a little over the medium rare requested. It was the au jus that made the plate, the wife enjoyed it very much as well with her filet. Overall seafood here is probably the better choice, though it's nice to have the steak options as well. Best views of the Hudson and Manhattan from every table. While it's not perfect, I miss the Ahi Tuna that now comes with way too watery sauces, but I doubt we'd skip Chart House on any visit. read more

For our 25th wedding anniversary, I decided to go big. Not "fly-to-Paris" big, but "find-the-most-gorgeous-view-of-New-York-City" big. I made a reservation, threw on my fanciest shirt that still buttoned, and off we went. Now, when people say "million-dollar view," they usually exaggerate. This wasn't one of those times. The view from our table was so stunning--floor-to-ceiling glass showcasing the NYC skyline from Midtown to the Freedom Tower--that my wife stopped mid-sentence and said, "Okay... you did good." Now, this place is known for seafood, and I'm sure it was delicious... but truth be told, I don't really remember what I ate. Why? Because we had cocktails. Plural. Multiple. Many. It's not that I blacked out--I just achieved that magical anniversary level of "tipsy romantic fog" where everything tastes amazing and your spouse is the funniest person alive. I do remember this: the starter, main, and dessert were all flawless. I vaguely recall something creamy, something seared, and something chocolatey. That's a culinary home run in my book. Pro tip for future diners: if you valet park, they'll charge you $15. But if you just casually glide into one of the open self-parking spots nearby like you own the place--free. Went to the Chart House in Weehawken and was not disappointed. Our server was spot on with recommendations, did not rush us, and was attentive without being overbearing. This is a return trip for my wife and I with about 25 years between visits. That's not an indicator of this place, only that we don't get east as often as we'd like. We've visited other Chart Houses in FL and had similar great experiences. First things first, the view is second to none. The NYC skyline is amazing and I'm sure there's not a bad seat in the house. We were seated by the window and it couldn't have been a better atmosphere. We started with the kimchi calamari and it was very good. Not an overpowering kimchi flavor and I'd even say it could use a bit more of that flavor, otherwise the calamari was expertly prepared, not rubbery and not overly breaded. Two in our party ordered the shellfish linguini, one had the prime rib, one had the Miso Sake Glazed Black Cod, and I had the Sea Bass & lobster risotto. We added two sides of asparagus and creamed spinach, both were excellent, especially the spinach. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and everything came out cooked perfectly. My sea bass was delicious and the lobster risotto complimented the fish very well and it too was delish! I tried my wife's shellfish linguini, which she enjoyed very much and I thought it was very good as well. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Dessert was next. Lava cake and the creme brulee trio. Lava cake was amazing and the creme brulee left me feeling underwhelmed. They weren't bad, they were just a bit bland. The trio consisted of vanilla, espresso and salted caramel. Everyone shared the desserts and we all thought the lava cake was exceptional. The star of the night was the view. The food was outstanding as was the service. Well done, Chart House, on another exceptional experience. (Now for the caveat mentioned above. When trying to decide where to eat, I noticed several restaurants had an hour and a half max time at the table for parties up to 5 and two hours for 6 or more. As we headed toward dusk, it became more and stunning, with the sunlight reflecting from the glass towers. Just mesmerizing. Food wise we saw some new items in the menu.
