I am writing to formally express my strong disappointment regarding our experience at your restaurant on the evening of Sunday, September 6, 2026. What was intended to be a special birthday dinner for two turned into a complete service failure, ultimately forcing us to leave and dine elsewhere. We held an 8:15 PM reservation for two and arrived ten minutes early. Upon checking in, the host informed us that our table was not ready, so we agreed to wait in the lobby. During this time, we observed multiple parties who arrived after us being seated first. When I checked back at the host stand, I was informed that our seating was contingent on a specific party paying their bill. Given the overall size of the restaurant and the steady flow of guests, it was concerning that our reservation depended entirely on a single table. We were finally seated fifteen minutes after our inquiry at a table located directly next to the kitchen. After sitting for an additional ten minutes without receiving menus, water, or any acknowledgement from the waitstaff, we decided to leave. To add to our frustration, we later discovered that our original 8:15 PM reservation time had been modified in your system to 8:30 PM without our knowledge or consent. Due to the lack of organization, poor communication, and absent service, we will not be returning to your establishment. I am sharing this feedback so management is fully aware of the severe lapse in service that occurred that evening and can take the necessary steps to address these operational issues. read more

They were awesome and Bourbon Steak lives up to the expectation!!! Located inside the Essex House on the southern edge of the Central Park, Bourbon Steak is decorated in the art deco style. Large windows, and good yet dim lighting at night. For dinner I had filet and salmon, while for breakfast I had the omelette. Both meals were fantastic. Fillet is probably the best I ever had. Cool new find. Located inside JW Marriott on Central Park South. Food was excellent and presentation and recipes that were bit more modernized compared to the traditional steakhouses. I really enjoyed their take on all the traditional dishes. Food was cooked well, ingredients were fresh, and steak had a really good seasoning and cooked perfectly. Desserts had a lot of unusual and cool items including shaved ice, basque cheesecake, and chocolate fondue. How fun! Inside was beautiful and modern. You will see a lot of kids and families who are hotel guests but it didn't bother me. If I had a serious business meeting though I may look elsewhere. Service was okay. Main problem I had was that our waitress disappeared during middle of the meal but eventually I called over another waiter and got him to service us. Service is why I took off a star. Another excellent additional to NYC steak scene. This place remains under the radar for some reason but it's definitely putting into your rotation. read more

Came for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. We had James as our server, professional and friendly. We had the Caesar salad, the Wagyu tartare --would not recommend, the oysters and clams were delicious. Onto dinner, the porterhouse steak for 2 perfectly cooked, Wagyu steak and shrimp, delicious and we enjoyed the Maine lobster pot pie, presentation was table side, nice chunks of lobster and a bit saucy for me but overall was good. The sides were delicious. Nice vibe for the place, service was excellent, drinks were spot on. Please note make sure you use the Central Park South entrance, we parked on 58th feet but the doors on 58th street are locked so had to walk around the block on a cold cold blustery night. Grabbed a same-day reservation for a Saturday night after snagging last-minute tickets to a Carnegie hall show. While I actually didn't love the steak, everything else was amazing: + Bourbon steak martini + petite romaine Caesar + 14 oz NY strip + creamed spinach pop tart + Michael Mina's banana tarte tatin Martini, Caesar and spinach pop tart were all perfect. A fantastic dinner experience. The entire staff was excellent. Friendly hostesses to start, all table servers were on point. I feel like fine dining lately has been hit or miss in that category. The ambiance has a good vibe; you can hear the music but still have table conversation without yelling at each other. Everything we ordered tasted great. Steak was cooked as ordered, bacon wrapped scallops were yummy, and the wedge salad was soo good. I love that they serve a trio of French fries/sauces instead of bread. I rarely write reviews, I usually just read them, but after seeing so many glowing remarks about Bourbon Steak, I felt compelled to share a more realistic perspective. Having dined at Michael Mina's restaurant in Las Vegas, I went in expecting that same caliber of polish, precision, and hospitality. Unfortunately, this location is simply not on that level, and the evening ended up being a major disappointment - especially given the exorbitant price tag. The space itself is undeniably beautiful, and the cocktails were genuinely very good. Unfortunately, the meal went downhill quickly from there: Sashimi: A huge miss. Featuring three types of fish, none tasted particularly fresh, and the knife work was abysmal - haphazardly butchered with zero cutting technique evident. Scallop Appetizer: Very delicious, though $32 for just two scallops felt steep even for fine dining. 8 oz Filet ($79): Perfectly average, not great. At that price point, nickel-and-diming guests with a $5 surcharge for steak sauce is absurd. Sides: The onion rings were fantastic. The creamed spinach pop-tart ($24), however, was almost entirely puff pastry with not enough spinach filling. Dessert: The chocolate cake was dry and flavorless; an ordinary diner cake from a display case has far better taste and texture. Even when the kitchen falls short, top-tier service can salvage an evening at a luxury restaurant. Here, the service was arguably worse than the food. We were handed off between a revolving door of servers. A bottle of wine was opened and decanted, only for the decanter to be abandoned on our table - we had to pour our own glasses for the night. To be fair, one server did eventually step in toward the end to pour the final sips into our glasses and kindly credited the cake off the bill. While that gesture was appreciated, it couldn't make up for an otherwise indifferent, poorly coordinated service experience and mediocre food execution. At this tier and price point, you expect excellence from start to finish. Beautiful room and solid cocktails aside, there is simply no value here to justify the bill, and we will not be returning. read more

Craving steak, I stopped by the nearest steakhouse to my hotel, conveniently located right across from Central Park. From the bar, there's a great view of the park, although since I visited late in the evening, the view wasn't much of a highlight. The hosts were welcoming, and I was seated promptly. They offer a solid selection of bourbon cocktails, but I went with a classic Old Fashioned. For my meal, I ordered the Wagyu ribeye with half a lobster and a side of fries. The fries were excellent, and the lobster was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The ribeye, however, was just okay. It tasted more like a regular ribeye than a true Wagyu cut. While it had a nice char and was cooked medium, it didn't have that signature melt-in-your-mouth tenderness I've come to expect from Wagyu. Overall, the restaurant was good, but the steak didn't quite meet expectations. I'd still recommend it, just maybe try a different cut next time. read more

I am not a steak person so I ordered the sea bass which was hardy, light and full of flavor. You have different options of bourbon which won't disappoint if you are into old fashions. You like a New York steakhouse but with flair? If you do, this place is for you. There are so many steakhouses in New York which are solid, but this one puts some flair into the category and elevates to a different level. This is a steakhouse by Michael Mina...and if you have ever eaten at Aquas in Sam Francisco, then you know he is bringing it. Mina soars here. Steaks are awesome as usual but so are the seafood dishes. Rib Cap, filet and sea bream all great...but the truffle mac and cheese and crème brûlée cheesecake (I know it's cheese cake but trust me on this one) are amazing. So are the beignets with dipping sauces and I am not a desert guy so you know these are great. Ambience is upscale New York steak house with views of Central Park. I'm a big fan of Michael Mina so I try to eat at his restaurants when I travel to places that have one. Unfortunately, the only time that would fit into our busy trip was today at lunch. I checked online for a lunch menu but there is not one listed. I should have called and asked instead of assuming they served their full menu at 2:45pm. But I didn't so I was sad and disappointed when I arrived and they were only serving their lounge menu. If only the website had indicated this, then I would have been able to make an informed decision. Sadly, the lounge menu didn't have any of the options I love at Bourbon Steak so we didn't stay. The hostess was very friendly when I asked about the menu and didn't seem annoyed at all when we left. She and my knowledge of how amazing their food is in other locations earned some stars. Hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy this location another time. It's a beautiful restaurant inside the JW Marriott. It's pretty fancy even though it's in a touristy area. Every year, my friend and I participate in restaurant week. I saw Bourbon Steak on the list and made a reservation and boy was I not wrong with my choice. The ambience was nice and cozy our two waiters Christian and John were spectacular. The food was divine and the drinks were delicious and let's not forget the dessert. I highly recommend and I will definitely be returning. Next time I'll bring my mom for her upcoming birthday. FYI, if you go do yourself a favor and order their whipped potatoes, it is to die for. For our appetizer I got the Shrimp Cocktail and my friend got the Butternut Squash Soup. Both were insanely delicious. We both ordered the Skirt Steak cooked medium it was so good you didn't even need any steak sauce. For our sides we got there Creamed Spinach with crispy shallots on top and the best Whipped Potatoes you will ever taste TRUST ME it's all in their imported butter. For our drinks I ordered the Pisco Punch which was delicious and my friend got the Delicious Sour. We both opted for their Warm Beignets, which came with their chocolate mousse for dessert. 5 stars for the steak alone! We did the pre fixe option ($75 for a mix of appetizers, entree and 3 sides) and it was a great deal. The restaurant itself is massive with very high ceilings and lots of tables. It overlooks central park and is very nicely decorated inside. Our server Jorge was very friendly and attentive. The food came out at a good pace where we did not feel rushed or like we were waiting for too long between courses. Rather than bring bread to the table, they bring a trio of fries with 3 different dipping sauces. If I remember correctly, one was pastrami fries with a pastrami dip, garlic fries with ketchup and fries with a truffle dip. The fries were very good, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, not greasy or oily at all. On the appetizer plate was one bacon wrapped scallop with a foie gras sauce, tuna tartare with two toast points, corn soup and a small salad with a slice of grapefruit, hearts of palm and a piece of avocado. While all were tasty, the standout was the corn soup. Apparently they just added it to the menu and I would highly recommend they keep it. The other bites were good, but on their own are not reason to come back to the restaurant, while the corn soup would be. For entrees we ordered the rib cap and skirt steak, each was a decent sized serving. Both were exquisite, perfectly cooked, tender and very flavorful. The rib cap had a nice sear on the outside without tasting too charred and the skirt steak was some of the most flavorful I have had. While we truly enjoyed both, I think I would have to say the skirt steak was our favorite. Each steak came with a tomato topped with bread crumbs which was surprisingly flavorful. The sides were whipped mashed potatoes, asparagus and spinach which we enjoyed and again were a good portion. My main complaint about pre fixe menus is I usually leave feeling hungry, but this was not the case here as we left feeling full (not satiated, but full). The pre fixe is a great value since the rib cap alone is $98 on their regular dinner menu and is the same size. I would definitely recommend people come try the pre fixe here and I would 100% go back. read more
