As I was visiting from out of town I was so excited to visit th8s restaurant. The food was hot and very flavorful. Everyone in our party was satisfied with the food. The service was undesirable. It's rare that I run into this issue and quite honestly I was surprised. After greeting our table the female server quickly advised us because we had a certain number in our group that there would be an automatic tip charge. Ok no problem that's to be expected. We often dine as a group. Once we received our food our server vanished. When we had questions about the food that we received we were met with skepticism. To a point where she counted the number of pieces of food that we had. So we all had to pause from eating while she did this. She quickly realized we were correct. We saw it as a simple oversight. It seemed that she took it personal. It almost felt like because she knew that her tip would be automatic so she did not feel a need to deliver great service. Please keep in mind that the restaurant was not busy at all. Now I will say the woman who served the drinks was very sweet. There was an issue with the bag that the drink was put in and she quickly took care of that with a smile and kindness. Although the food was 4 star I have to come in at 3 due to the service. We came here for my friend's birthday dinner and of course I was excited, I love seafood! I'd checked the menu to contemplate choices (I hate inconveniencing others). She flips my menu over and stated I could only order the fried foods. They cook everything together, sausage seafood etc, in her words, cross-contamination. I was crushed! Cute seafood boil place. The food was good, but there was not enough sauce. They boil the seafood separately and then mix the sauce separately, so the sauce isn't incorporated into the meaty parts of the seafood. So there's not enough sauce and the meat is bland without sauce, but if you want more sauce to purchase more sauce. I think it's kind of crazy that you have to pay for more sauce despite already paying 300$ for 4 seafood choices. Cap't Loui is a great spot if you're craving a seafood boil. Oysters were fresh and large. Fish and chips were solid, especially the cajun fries. The seafood boil was the main event. We ordered 4 lbs and still had leftovers. Snow crab, ugly crab, head-on shrimp, and mussels were my favorites. Being able to order seafood by half pound makes it easy to try a few things. The Cap't Loui sauce is really good -- even the mild version has a lot of flavor. Dessert portions are huge. The beignet and funnel cake fries both come with ice cream, so sharing is a good idea. My friend and I have been craving a seafood boil, so we made a reservation for a Saturday night a few days ahead. Thank goodness we did, when I checked in for the reservation the hostess was telling walk ins the wait was roughly an hour since they were completely booked. The menu states two different seasonings- lemon pepper and Cap't Loui Cajun seasoning, but they actually offer garlic butter too for those that can't handle spicy. I got the whole crab with half lb shrimp with Cap't loui seasoning spicy added extra side of potato and corn and sweet potato fries. Split between two this was the perfect amount for my friend and I. The spicy was a really good flavor until the end of the bag which is when it burned for me. Too bad the combo deal for the free sides is only if it's one bag. Little bit of a bummer since otherwise we did order 2lbs just one of us couldn't handle any spice. Word of advice, try to visit during the week and go early if you can, or make a reservation. They do accept walk ins, but it gets crowded very fast. My mom and I met up for a full seafood feast and got there around 1pm. At that time it was pretty quiet, mostly people having lunch. The food came out in about 15 to 20 minutes, hot and perfectly cooked. The waitress was incredibly sweet and very helpful. The menu is solid. They offer combos if you do not want to build your own bag, and many of those come with one to three free sides. Most seafood is sold by the pound, including shrimp with or without heads and a variety of crab legs. They also have lunch specials and soup. And just to be clear, the portions here are generous. The drink menu is pretty standard, but I did notice some colorful drinks served in pouches. They also offer beer, wine by the glass or bottle, and soda. No dessert options if that matters to you. The seafood was incredibly fresh, which is always the most important factor for me, and the house sauce had a perfect, satisfying kick of heat that made it the absolute right choice. I came here after lunch plans next door failed. I'm glad this was still offering the lunch special even though it was close to 3pm (the lunch special is available weekdays until 3pm). I got the Seafood Boiler lunch with includes 2 seafoods, 1 side, 1 sauce and you can choose your spice level. I got clams and crawfish with garlic noodles, the capt loui sauce and mild spice. They provide you with gloves and an apron so you can feel confident digging in without being too messy. There are also sinks by the bathroom with lotion and hair ties, which is quite thoughtful. Not sure what I was expecting with the garlic noodles - maybe more Asian style noodles - but it was basically spaghetti with butter and garlic powder .There was a good amount of seafood for the price. I also got the funnel cake fries, but wished I got the beignets. The fries were very oily - but I guess the beignets could possibly be the same. We opted to do the 3 pound + 2 sides boil and did 4 clusters of the snow crab and 1 pound of shrimp with fries and boiled eggs. We got the medium and it was just the right amount for me. They're offering a lot of different promotions now. For lunch I think the lobster roll is worth it. The lobster roll was my favorite item. They also are offering free lobster OR snow crab with unlimited garlic noodles if you order the the 4lbs of seafood. The 4 lbs of seafood is a TON of food. The garlic noodles are indeed garlic-y; I liked dipping it in the seafood boil sauce. I was surprised when I walked in to see that the interior is a HUGE space. We overheard the hostess tell a walk-in that it would be at least a 40 minute wait so we were glad we made the reservation and we were seated right away! We each ordered a dozen raw oysters. On Tuesdays, they have $1.50 oyster deal with a max of one dozen per person. We ordered the 2 pound combo that included two clusters of snow crabs, half pound of head on shrimp and half pound of mussels. Our free side was sausage and they say that the orders come with corn and potatoes. We chose the cap't Loui sauce mild. The cap't Loui sauce was very tasty and mild was a tad spicy and was perfect for me since I don't handle spice well. There was a good amount of food to split this combo with my sister. I am disappointed it only came with one tiny corn and maybe 5 tiny slices of potato. We also got the funnel cake fries (with their promotion) and they were fun and yummy. Literally loved everything about eating here! On one hand, I love that they're open so late. But on the other hand, it's so dangerous because of how good it is! In general, I just love food that you can really tear into with your hands. But when it's also food thats completely drenched in butter and garlic, the love is tenfold. I was so impressed with the thought that went into the details of this seafood boil spot! I've been to many seafood boil restaurants over the years and this spot covered just about everything you would need - separated handwashing stations, station with stain removing wipes, hair ties, floss, lemon wedges for reducing scent, and lotion, even plastic bags for your phone. You're seated with bibs and gloves as well. Interior was nicely designed and lots of searing. The pricing was almost jaw-dropping as well. We came during the opening deal of a free pound of lobster or snow crab and unlimited garlic noodles with an order of 4 lbs of seafood, which was the perfect amount of food for 6 people. I came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They have a lobster roll with soda for $20. We also order the a side of broccoli, French fries and the garlic noodles. Its a good lunch deal and the lobster roll and sides were fresh and tasty. The plum soju was so delicious.
