Exceptional! Is the first thing that comes to mind. A5 wagyu with so many different cuts makes is amazing. Ive had A5 in the past but to try all the cuts in one sitting, made it an absolute treat! Izzy our server was attentive and made our experience even more special. We cant wait to come back!

Let me start by saying that they have a happy hour hour menu! When we arrived at Niku, our table wasn't quite ready yet and they asked if we wanted to wait at the bar, hence how I found out about this menu! I feel like people are gatekeeping this because they have really good deals on food/apps, and select wine/beer, and cocktails, and the cocktails were SO good! I've read so many reviews but I did not see one that mentioned a happy hour. We were actually at the pub next door grabbing a drink waiting for our dinner reservation to come up (6:45 on a Saturday). Had I known about HH sooner, we would have skipped the pub and came straight here. I had the Jade Obsession (Haku vodka, italicus bergamopt, matcha, lychee, yuzu, lemon, aquaphaba). Now, I'm normally not a lychee gal but the lychee flavor here was very subtle and you just taste really smooth, refreshing matcha drink. You don't even taste the alcohol, which can be dangerous! Hubby had the Lust Island (Awayuki Strawberry Gin, lavender, lemon, mio crisp sparkling sake). I didn't love it only because I don't like gin but he seemed to enjoy it. We ended up ordering two more drinks right before happy hour ended and we were able to bring it to our table. I had the Forbidden Plum (ume plum, elderflower, ginger, vodka, egg whites) and he had the Cherry Blossom (Hendricks Flora Adora, soho lychee elderflowers, yuzu, grapefruit), and we each liked our own drinks better. The bartender was super nice and genuinely wanted feedback on what we liked/didn't like but I had no notes for my drinks. But enough about drinks and onto the food! We opted for the Unlimited Grand Wagyu Menu. Everyone starts out with the Grand Wagyu Box (Japanese A5 Wagyu striploin, Australian short rib, ribeye, Japanese A5 skirt steak, and Australian zabuton). Get out your cameras because it's a pretty cool presentation. You can also order each of these a la carte if you decide there's one you really like. We also ordered the wagyu nigiri, beef tongue, Japanese A4. After a while, the meats do kind of taste the same and are very rich and filling because of the fat content. It would have been nice to see some beef tartare on the menu. My favorite beef item was probably the wagyu nigiri but it had a lot of rice. For non-meat, we had the sashimi platter, toro with ikura, seafood tartare, grilled lobster tail, miso Chilean seabass wrap, wagyu fried rice, and lobster roll with fries. I know, I know - you should get carbs at AYCE but my husband loves fried rice. We immediately regretted this decision because it was super basic. Overall, I think I liked the seafood items over the beef because there was more of a variety. My faves were the Chilean seabass, grilled lobster tail, torotaku, and sashimi platter (so basically most of them LOL). Their online menu advertised Norwegian King Crab, but it wasn't on the menu when we got there so I felt a little mis-led, and was disappointed. For dessert, they had a yuzu cheesecake, matcha cheesecake, and matcha ice cream. Cheesecakes are pretty heavy desserts, so it would have been nice to have something like fresh fruit, or sorbet. We did note on the reservation that we were celebrating my husband's birthday but they didn't do anything extra or special for it. While the overall experience was good, I'm not sure I'd come back, just because of the price point, and I think I would rather go to an AYCE seafood buffet. Plus, there are so many other NYC restaurants to try first before I would make a return trip here. At least not for the AYCE. However, I will definitely be returning to try some happy hour bites and some cocktails.

I went here with my best friend for her birthday and the meat was tasty. We wanted to try the $119 menu AYCE but it was only the tasting menu, which had plenty of food but prices/offers were misleading on the website. I ordered the cherry blossom drink which was very floral and sweet, much needed palate reset. The beef cuts served were very meaty. I enjoyed the lobster tail and appetizers offered. Service was on the slower end as it took them almost 2 hours to serve us and the ambiance was very private. I enjoyed the private seating but service could have been better.

This place is hyped up. I have to say I was quite excited to try this place, since I've been to the sister restaurants. This one is the worst one in my opinion. The ambience is quite dark. We were seated on the first floor behind the bar. The bathrooms were disgusting. It reeked, was super hot and the floors were sticky. Not something you would have expected for this price range. The best thing about this place has to be the mid wagyu and meats. The sides were terrible. The best side was the lobster, but that needed a lot of lemon juice for flavor. All the cooked food that came from the kitchen was barely lukewarm. The server was kind enough to heat it up. The sushi/sashimi was like supermarket grade. Another turnoff was that they kept trying to sell the chubby membership. I might have considered it if the food wasn't terrible. If we tell you we will think about it, please don't ask us again and again.

Went here for my sister's birthday for lunch time and what an experience. It felt especially elevated since we had a private room to ourselves. The cuts were rich so certainly you gotta pace yourself . I can't remember having such an amazing meal like this in a long time. I'm not too much of a fan of tartare, but this was absolutely snapped.

I've visited the LA location before which I thoroughly enjoyed and was really excited to try their NYC location! *AMBIANCE* We came here for a special occasion and made reservations beforehand. We took an elevator up where we were seated, where they have a communal dining area as well as private rooms. Overall, the look and feel seems very similar to the LA location with its dark mood lighting. *FOOD* This is meat paradise. We tried the unlimited grand wagyu menu ($158 mon-thurs // $168 fri-sun // 100 minutes) which has a wide assortment of starters, seafood, specialty wagyu dishes, sides and desserts. Everything in the grand wagyu box was really tasty and some cuts just melt in your mouth. I also really enjoyed the lobster tail and the wagyu ribeye yakisuki. *SERVICE* Service was good and attentive. Our server also explained how the menu worked given it was our first time at this location and he also made recommendations on how many dishes and what to order. They also cooked all the meats for us in a separate area. If you are looking to indulge in a decadent meat session, this is the place to be!

Finally tried NIKU X. I've been thinking about trying the LA location for a while but never had time to. I got the Unlimited Grand Tasting Menu for $168 and went in very excited, but it quickly fell short. They ran out of several items the night I went (Sunday), including caviar, king crab legs, and wagyu tallow shishito peppers, along with a few others. The waiter explained it was the end of the week so many items were out by then. Unfortunately, I was only told after ordering. Paying $168 plus tax and tip -- easily around $225 per person -- I felt a bit cheated. The meat cuts were good, but after a couple of rounds the fatty portions became too much. I understand Wagyu is meant to be rich and fatty, but for me personally it was overwhelming after a while. The ambiance is cool and gives off a speakeasy vibe. Service was good as well -- they were attentive throughout. Would I return? Maybe not. Would I recommend it? Yes, if it's your first time and you want to try Wagyu. However, I would likely recommend the regular tasting menu instead of the Unlimited Grand Tasting. At that price point, and with the possibility of missing items, it didn't feel worth it.

Lets get RIGHT into it: Niku X is the kind of place that makes you stop halfway through dinner and wonder if you somehow wandered into a luxury food fever dream. We did the unlimited Wagyu and Seafood, and it was completely absurd in the best possible way. I have not eaten a ton of wagyu in my life, but this meal absolutely changed that. Every round felt like a new flex: multiple lobster tails, rich wagyu tartare, incredible sea bass for someone who does not even usually eat fish, and cut after cut of wagyu so buttery and tender it practically vanished on my tongue. I am not exaggerating when I say I felt like I was chasing the flavor of the meat before it dissolved. That is how melt THROUGH your mouth this whole experience was. The drinks were out of this world, the meal was wildly memorable, and the service pushed everything over the top. Our server was AMAZING, and not just in the standard polite, attentive way. He genuinely guided the experience and made ordering feel effortless, which turned a huge unlimited menu into something exciting instead of overwhelming. It felt like he was helping craft the meal in real time, and that made the whole night even more special. This is the kind of place I already know I will come back to for another special occasion. Truly one of those dinners that stays with you. 11/10. Literally: steak too juicy, lobster too buttery.

Not bad. We did the unlimited experience. My husband liked the meat - I thought it was only ok and most of it was too fatty (just a personal thing ). I did really enjoy the hand rolls - and the sea bass wasn't bad. The Norwegian king crab was pretty poor quality so I didn't have much but it is king crab so my husband got a refill. The second batch was admittedly better than the first. I loved the free kimchi to start so much so I kept getting refills and then they ran out - it was helpful to cut against the fat of the meat. Agedashi tofu and shisito peppers weren't bad - would pass on the asparagus. Yuzu and matcha cheesecake were also both decent. Service was ok. My water was constantly empty but they did stop a decent amount of times asking if we wanted to order more. They must have improved from other older reviews bc we didn't find an issue with timing for asking for more food. Also the inside was unbearably hot, even for me and I always run cold. Overall, glad we tried it but not sure I'd return.

I was really looking forward to dining at Niku X. While there were many things that I enjoyed, the overall experience left me disappointed. We went for a weekday dinner, which made it a little less pricey. The food itself was excellent. I enjoyed the A5 Wagyu Nigiri, Wagyu Box, A5 Ribeye Thick Cut, Grilled Lobster Tail, Toro with Ikura, and the sashimi. It was high quality and nicely presented. The location is also a plus since it was right in Herald Square. However, my experience would have been much better if I hadn't felt so rushed. When I made the reservation, it wasn't stated that our dining time would be limited due to the kitchen closing at a certain hour. Had I known in advance, I would have planned accordingly. Instead I felt pressured to eat quickly so I wouldn't miss out. At one point, I was eating so fast that I felt like I was in one of those Coney Island Contests where you have to stuff your face before the time runs out. I didn't get to fully relax and enjoy everything. On top of that, they knew it was my partner's birthday, and there wasn't even a small acknowledgement- no candle on a dessert, no complimentary treat, not even a simple happy birthday from the waitstaff. For a restaurant of this standard, I was very disappointed. Overall, clearer communication about time constraints and a little more attention to special occasions would have made a big difference. Any small gesture would've gone a long way in creating a better experience.

It was my 2nd time here. Food was good, and service was friendly. The menu changed and is smaller. They removed the fried rice, yaki udon, and other items. On Saturday, AYCE is $168 for 100 minutes, which was worth it for the variety and quality. This time they showed us the ingredients and took them away to cook rather than in front of us where the meat smell would permeate. Everything was tasty, fresh, and rich from the wagyu to the seafood. They have yakiniku sauce, ponzu, and seasoned salt. They cut the crab leg shells so it's easier to take the meat out. The wagyu box and lobster tail were the most memorable. Cocktails were strong and good at $20 and up. There's a coat check. The servers forgot some items but to be fair a lot was ordered and they fixed it if we asked them to check on it.

Went to NIKU X at the beginning of this month for boyfriend's mom birthday. I must say this dinner was incredible and the customer service was beyond impressive. Alex was our server the night that we had dinner, he literally answered all of our questions ( there were a lot of questions too) and served us the entire night legit never left our side. Alex was the best server I have ever had in my life at a restaurant! The food was incredibly fast to come to our table and insanely fresh. We loved everything that was served to us that night. Oh gosh I forgot to mention, they served incredible drink!!!! No need for me to say this but this restaurant is beautiful but you may already know that from social media. Legit a 10/10 when it comes to service, ambience and food. I definitely will go again when I'm in NYC!

What an amazing experience!! It was truly an unforgettable memory. I came with a total of 4 people to celebrate a friend's birthday. We chose the unlimited wagyu and seafood option. The servers were super friendly and walked is through all the food. The place is very well decorated and pretty. The food quality were superb and top notch. For the unlimited wagyu, they have to serve every cut first and then we can order more. Since it was wagyu, I got full pretty quick. The wagyu melts in your mouth and it tastes amazing. The seafood were delicious such as the lobster tail and sashimi. We told our server that we were celebrating our friend's b'day and they came in with a slice of cake and sang the bday song. It was a fantastic night and meal. We are definitely coming back!

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and found the restaurant moderately crowded. We were greeted promptly and seated upon entry. I found the space comfortable and relaxed. Our waiter was polite and attentive. We ordered the corn bread as an appetizer. I prefer sweet cornbread versus jalapeño, so it wasn't my thing. However, my cousin is the opposite and she really enjoyed it. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, greens, and biscuit. I didn't care for the greens, but the biscuit and pulled pork was excellent. My sister had the ribs, greens, and dirty rice. She didn't like any of her food. She said the ribs had a lot of gristle. There was very little meat on the bone. I tasted the rice and agreed with her assessment. It wasn't that good. Our cousin had the chicken, mac-n-cheese, and baked beans. She liked her food. My cousin had been to Virgil's before many years ago and said this experience mirrored past ones. We all ordered dessert as well. i had the strawberry shortcake, which wasn't great. The strawberries were fresh, and I liked the whipped cream, but the "shortcake" was actually the same biscuit that was served with my meal. It wasn't sweet enough and just didn't work well. I ended up picking over the dessert, so most of it went to waste. My sister had the key lime pie which she didn't like. My cousin had the banana pudding which she enjoyed. Overall, the experience got mixed reviews, but I'd visit Virgil's again in the future for sure. The bill ended up being about $150 plus, if I recall correctly, because we ordered alcoholic beverages as well.

I saw that they have music on certain days so if you interested in some music come check it out. We ordered the two meat meal with greens, mac n cheese, and corn bread. They didn't have any pork belly burnt ends ready so that was a bummer. The food came out fairly quick which was nice. Everything looked really good. The brisket was cooked perfect and nice fatty parts to it if you like that. There was some good smoke to it and nice seasoning to it. The ribs were a little overcooked and not much meat on them. The mac n cheese was really good, nice amount of cheese, noodles cooked perfect, and nice seasoning in it. The greens were also cooked perfect, not mushy, great flavor, and also seasoned right. The cornbread was off the hook, very tasty with great flavor. I like that they mixed corn in the cornbread. We also ordered the Banana Wafer Pudding which was delicious. NIce flavor and the wafers were fresh and crunchy, I just needed more of them. We tried to wait for Pork Belly burnt ends but we had to go. The BBQ sauces were just ok, nothing to say hey you have to try it. I'd definitely be back to this place if I'm in town. Don't know why they only have 3.5 stars. The service was also good. I so wanted to give a 5 star but I just couldn't.

We visited Hill Country BBQ Market for dinner on Jun 24, 2025 as part of the Road Scholar's…read more"American Mosaic - An NYC Exploration" program. Since our program covered the expenses, we didn't pay anything out of pocket. Now I enjoy a good BBQ cookout at home as much as the next family, but don't care for it as a dining experience. My employer catered BBQ luncheons from time to time, and even then I wasn't crazy about it. Here in Hill Country, a room was reserved for us (party of 36). Our dinnerware resembled army mess tins lined with sanitary papers; our glasses resembled moonshine jars complete with screw threads at the rim for lids. Our dinner was a catered set of longhorn cheddar mac & cheese (quite good), sliced brisket (meh), market chicken (a little tough), fresh baked cornbread (dry & hard) and collard greens (good but could be saltier). I consumed massive amounts of mac & cheese and collared greens to help swallow down the almost rock-hard cornbread. Desert was chocolate chip cookies (that wasn't bad). Some members of the group ordered liquor (at their own expense) to celebrate the good time they were having. Customer service was less than stellar. The waitress did not inform us that soft drinks were complimentary until after we finished eating. That wasn't all. The restroom was located downstairs past the bar room. During my two visits - before and after the food was served - the same staff member was there cleaning. He had just finished the sinks when I went in the first time. On the second visit, the front door was blocked from the inside by a pail - he was mopping the floor. Couldn't he have waited till the off-peak hours to do that?? Customer service and cornbread were enough for me to not recommend this restaurant.

It didn't feel heavy or greasy at all, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable. The service was also fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept an eye on the grill so everything was cooked perfectly. The banchan was fresh and paired really well with the meat. And don't skip dessert! The ice cream at the end was SO good and was the perfect way to finish the meal. It was such a refreshing treat after all the BBQ. Definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the food, service, and overall experience made it worth it. Great ambiance!

We were early too, they seated us, and then they came by to ask if we wanted to place an order about 4-5 times before the party was completely there. And when we wanted to order more food, at the 45 minute mark, they had to "check if there was time left" on our reservation. I understand they're very busy and have bookings, but it was only about 45 minutes in. Anyways, the experience itself was great. They cooked all our food for us and everything was great quality. Banchans were refreshed and refilled - sometimes without being asked. We were very well taken care of. The pancake was good as well as the tartare. HIghlight was definitely the meat and banchans though. We all got ice cream at the end and birthday boy even got a candle in his with some sprinkles. Super cute and very nice of them.

NOT IMPRESSED…read more Stopped in for a quick lunch around 1:00 PM and I was extremely disappointed with the service and food quality. When I arrived, there were only a few other customers seated in the dining room. That should have been a RED flag, but I wanted to try the burgers while visiting New York. My wife had the Classic Burger topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, house sauce served with fries for $19.95 and I had the Smash-ology Burger with double smash burger patties topped with American cheese, red onion, lettuce tomato, smash-ology sauce on a potato bun served with fries for $19.95. First, the burgers are very small, lack flavor and there is nothing special about them. I've had a better tasting burger from Steak & Shack for a fraction of the cost. The fries were very cold and looked like they were sitting on a holding table for an extended period. I sent the fries back only to be served with more cold fries. Service was also lacking. When I complained about the cold fries, the server didn't seem to be pleased and was very hesitant to take them back. At a cost of more than $45 for two burgers and fries, I expected more.
