After the longest debate and with no other option close by, my colleague and I finally decided to give them a try since the reviews seemed promising. I ordered the 1lb shrimp, head on, mild garlic butter while my colleague ordered the 1lb crawfish, spicy juicy. I liked how it came in buckets. Too bad they only gave us one pair of gloves though. At our office, we work through lunch instead of having a set lunch break so that becomes twice as inconvenient. I have always been loyal to the garlic butter regardless of where I go so I did not know what to expect when I got a taste of my colleague's sauce. It was sour, spicy, salty, a lot going on at once. It was not bad but it was not my cup of tea. My own sauce on the other hand, was only flavored by salt and garlic. There was no butter flavor going on at all. Kind of disappointing. I really appreciated the amount of garlic though. My bucket was interesting because I found that my middle layer of shrimp had the same sauce as my coworker. Overall flavor profile was just salty though. They put way too much salt. As for the seafood itself, I would say it was ok. There was only a handful that did not seem all too fresh. I came by to try the seafood boil since I came across a Tiktok with this restaurant in it. Overall, the food was pretty good and seemed like great quality for the price. It was 14$ for 1 lb of blue crabs, I think around 7$ for 1/2 lb of mussels, and around $20 for 1 lb shrimp. My biggest critique honestly is that I was given the wrong shrimp. I'm fairly certain the shrimp I was given was EZ-peel when I had ordered head-on. I wasn't too upset since it was all a similar price, but I do love my shrimp heads so I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't have my shrimp heads. I would've asked the cashier for help but it seems she was the only one working at the time and we came during a fairly busy time so I didn't wanna stress her out since she seemed busy already. I would give this place 6 stars if I could! We came on a Friday night and it was popping! But I get why. The seafood boil is soooo delicious! We got the "Sample the Sea" which is perfect serving for 2 people and I absolutely loved the juicy special seasoning. The fish and chips were crispy and super addicting. They also have platters of classic Chinese food dishes like orange chicken and lo mein! The inside is a really cute store with drawn stickers on the wall and a good number of tables and chairs. There's grease everywhere; on the floor, on top and under the tables, under the chairs where you would grab to slide the chair with you, on the racks of spices, the bottled spices... everywhere. I even killed some kind of moth fly on the floor while waiting for my oder-to-go (def not eating AT the restaurant itself) . I also got a hot level extra garlic butter, and a side of garlic bread. Portions were great, seafood cooked perfectly, and the sauces were so flavorful! The garlic bread was super yummy as well! If you like spicy like me, I would go with the extra hot option! Besides the boil, they also included gloves, a bib, and a prepackaged towelette. They also took the time to write a sweet note and include a package of candy which I thought was very kind and thoughtful :) I have ordered from both Aqua Boil, and The Boil before, but honestly I think this is my new go to for seafood boils. Please stop lying Tom. You called my friend and talked to him on May 1. Instead of telling him we accidentally uploaded his number on the receipt, you chose not to say anything until May 6 when you commented on my review saying you called me for that specific reason. A kind person would've said something right? My friend wasn't aware nor did he show me any security footage that you are talking about. I don't know whose the evil one here. ------ Edit: I originally gave 3 stars but the owner wanted me to change my review and DMed me trying to make me feel bad and take pity on the restaurant (saying this is a poor neighborhood?) and even bribing us with free food. However, his attitude completely changed after I changed my review and he commented again saying we didn't wait for more than 5 minutes for a table and that we got free noodle when that was not true (we paid for the noodles, and we waited 15-20 mins to get our actual table). It's not okay to gaslight your customers to think they are at fault. He seated us at another table so we shared the table with another group since he didn't have our table ready. We reserved for a table of 4 but only 2 shared seats were available at our 6pm reservation time. Initially I was upset because there was no seat for our friend and we did make a reservation but we accepted it and waited patiently for a table. In the DM, he said he was embarrassed and made sure we didn't tip. Tips are optional since we ordered and paid at the counter so there was no table service, Now he is saying we didn't tip? And making it seem like we are at fault. I'm upset and honestly saddened that the owners attitude completely changed after I changed my review to 4 stars. What he said in DM does not align with his public comment. If you are a fan of seafood and absolutely love seafood boil, you need to make it your business to stop by The Chubby Crab. There are a few tables at which to dine in, but most will order take out. The seafood is served hot, so make it your business to go straight home after pickup and devour before the seafood can overcook from the residual heat. I recommend the Chubby Crab dish off the menu to get a fair appraisal of what is on offer here. You'll get the snow crab legs, shrimp, sausage, a boiled egg, potatoes and mini corn cob. At $33, it's a great value. I recommend their sauce that mixes all their soy, garlic and other sauces. Medium spicy will not faze anyone as I had and I suspect the spicy would not be too much for a lot of palates. That sauce is really hittin' and the seafood will disappear before your very eyes. I ordered what I thought was an added twin lobster tail, but I think he misunderstood and entered a single tail with some potatoes and corn. I don't think he charged me for the twin tails and, with an order of wings, my total was under seventy. Again, this is a tremendous value and The Chubby Crab is hard to beat at this price point. I ate the lobster tail last and by then it had slightly overcooked from residual heat. This is not to be interpreted as the fault of Chubby Crab. That's on me. Put on the hot sauce and enjoy the crispy wings, but they are not the reason for coming here. Seafood is what's up here. Service here is very nice. The owner is genuine and welcoming. Your palate will welcome and delight in every mouthful. Your wallet will welcome the portions and high value proposition. BEST SEAFOOD BOIL IN NYC This is the best seafood boil you can get in NYC. Their portion is so generous, amazing customer service, price is so reasonable, and their house special sauce is so flavorful. Last week I was craving late night seafood boil, but this place was closed so I had to order from a different restaurant. That place had better reviews everywhere than chubby crab, but way lower quality, small portion, yet higher price. I don't get why chubby crab isn't 5 stars everywhere. Today I shared "sample the sea" with my boyfriend and we could barely finish half. I usually get the "chubby crab" set, which I end up having three meals with.
