I've been to Nashville, but I haven't been to Islamabad (the capital of Pakistan), but something tells me they're fusing the two flavors in the right way. It just tastes good. And judging from the never ending flow of delivery orders churning out of their kitchen, not to mention every seat in the house packed on a Saturday afternoon, sounds like other people think so too. I've now been here twice to try various things on their menu, and while the Nashville hot chicken sandwich is indeed delicious, it's the dhamaka fries that do it for me. I was introduced to Namkeen earlier this year and have had cravings for an encore of their fried chicken from time to time. Namkeen only uses all natural, hormone and antibiotic-free halal chicken to make their Pakistani version of Nashville hot chicken. Since my initial visit, I feel like the chicken has gotten better and the tikka sauce has gotten more spicy which is a plus for me. I took off the top bun because it didn't add anything to the sandwich and wasn't giving brioche as the menu stated. It comes with a jalapeño and cheddar waffle, but I swapped it with a regular waffle, and honestly, it was the right move. The amount of flavor you get in each bite of this insane sandwich is, for lack of a better word, insane. The waffle is just the first level. Then you get the juicy brininess of the chicken, along with the spice of it. Pretty good halal fried chicken shop that's open until midnight! The highlight was their chicken and waffles, the waffles were crisp on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. The sweetness of the waffle + powdered sugar + syrup paired really well with the savory chicken tenders. The only con is that the serving size is pretty small especially at a $16 price point, but that's probably just Williamsburg things. We went around 9:45pm before a night out, thankfully we got there right before a rush. Our waffles came out in less than 10 minutes but they did forget our fries, so that took another 20 minutes. Payment is made at the front before you get the meal. There's either a qr code to scan or a paper menu. We ordered the clucking waffle sandwich, which was huge. It has fried chicken, pickles, coleslaw, aioli sauce on jalapeño and cheddar waffles. The waffles tasted so unique, and you can definitely taste the spiciness of the jalapeño pepper. The dhamaka fries was ordered for the table which consisted of the masala fries, fried chicken, tikka sauce, pickles, coleslaw, and mint chutney. Omg!! The fries were really good. The restaurant has about 4-5 tables and a window bar, so it's relatively small and sometimes means a bit of a wait on weekends/prime time. Be mindful that their hot chicken has more of a desi twist - not overly masala, but it's not a classic American/Nashville style hot chicken. One thing I gotta say is that they go HARD with how much chicken they put on their tikka Mac and cheese and their dhamaka fries. I may well have eaten enough protein for a bodybuilder between the three items I ordered and split with a friend. And both were only 11 bucks so I am elated. The shining star was the clucking waffle sandwich. The waffle was crisp, yet soft and fluffy in the center. If you closed your eyes you wouldn't even realize it was a waffle with how deceiving the taste and texture was. Really great. As for the chicken itself, it was juicy and THICK. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked the Mac and cheese as much as I did. It had the perfect texture with a little bite to it but not quite al dente. The dhamaka fries were masala fries loaded with the same chicken and sauces the Mac and cheese was topped with so the flavor profile was all kinda the same but the fries were crisp and airy in the center. It was a perfect coolant and distinct in taste, though after a while did kind of just blend into all the other flavors and became unnoticeable. I would say if you come don't order both Mac and cheese and dhamaka fries at the same time because they're so similar you won't be able to appreciate the individual differences of fries vs Mac. Try them on separate occasions. As for service, they are BUSY so fully expect to have to take your food to go. The outdoor seating isn't open yet. They take a long time preparing the food so be aware. Though if you do happen to get a seat, the time each food item comes out is fantastic because you'll have the chance to tackle one item at a time instead all at once. You can pace yourself essentially lol. Admittedly I think it was a mistake on my part to have ordered so much because I was about to POP. I found the medium spice to be just right while my friend found it rather hot but my stomach is not happy a day later lol. If you have a sensitive stomach you're not going to survive this.
