My friends and I stumbled into BK Jani on a rainy day, just seeking out shelter, but we were met with a great meal. The Jani Burger was amazing, perfectly cooked, with great pakistani flavor, and it was refreshing not to have a smash burger for once. The lamb chops were also cooked to perfection, perfect medium rare, super tender and very flavorful. The Nihari sandwich was also great, however I wish there was a little more unique flavor to it. The masala fries are alright, but I'd say you can skip those. On top of the great food, this service was even better. The staff was so friendly, checking in on us and even offering us a free mango lassi drink. The restaurant itself is comfortably casual with heat lamps inside, which is nice to have on a cold day, I imagine. i definitely recommend! read more

Not sure this place is it for me. Came in on a Sunday and the house was packed so my wife and I ordered takeout. Took about 15min or so to get which was fine. We at this on the sidewalk so it was still fresh when we got it. But for us the food just didn't hit. I recognize it's fusion, but maybe the way things were meant to be balanced didn't mesh. The (impossible burger patty) lahori felt quite bland. Maybe because the burger patty was so thick, but it just kind of was overwhelmed by generic beef patty taste which wasn't what I was expecting. The nihari had some really good flavor, but I found the bread was somehow both quite dry and soggy at the same time. It's hard to describe, but I felt like it was working against the actual nihari flavor. Sadly I do think something like naan or basmati rice would've been better. The fries were pretty unremarkable, too. Just tasted like fries you'd get at your local bodega. I don't expect the wheel to be reinvented when it comes to fusion restaurants, but I just felt nothing actually balanced themselves well (at least for what we ordered). For $50 pre-tip, I'm a bit disappointed. This place has been on my hit list for a while, but I can't see myself wanting to go back. Staff was friendly and the space, albeit small, can fit groups of 2-4 pretty easily. I have a few friends that really like this place, so maybe I'm just the odd one out. read more

Omg, the flavors, the seasoning! One of a kind! Someone told me a few months ago that the Lamb is really good. I had it on my to taste list. Yesterday, I did had Lamb Chops, 2 small pieces, expensive because I would need 10 pieces to feel full and satisfied. They are absolutely unique in taste, the seasoning is sooooo good, it is the one must eat if you are in Brooklyn, absolutely. I liked it sooooo much that today, I brought my son to taste it, and he loved it as well. The Sweet Potato fries are also delicious and unique in taste. Today, I realized that is Pakistani seasoning, I didn't know Pakistani seasoning was sooo good. Now, I am going to eat a different Pakistani restaurant all over NY..lol and trust me, I know good seasoning spices. My brother comes here frequently for their burgers. Lahori just tasted like kabob in burger form. Burgers were cooked really well and could tell it was high quality. I also really enjoyed the masala fries. Now I must say that these lamb chops were the most tender lamb chops I've ever had and I absolutely love them for that reason. Right when I got out in the mall, I heard my stomach rumble so I went searching for something to eat at the food center. I don't know who their photographer is but is very skillful in convincing you to buy a burger with just one mere picture of a juicy burger. All it took was for me to look up at the poster plastered in the middle of kiosk to make up my mind that a burger is what I needed that night. I ordered the jalapeño burger which had jalapanp, cheddar cheese and garlic aioli sauce, which was the perfect combination for a person like me who likes to taste more than one flavor in her food. The burger was thick and well cooked. I swallowed it whole and would have ordered another one if it weren't because I had to get going. It isn't badly priced either. With burgers being at least $20 in most places in New York nowadays, I considered $12 inexpensive for a jalapeño burger. read more

I had the original burger--the burger, tomato, mint chutney. I asked for the spiciest, but the staff recommended I go with medium spice, which is the original level intended. I asked for the burger medium. It was a little closer to medium rare, but not quite. It was juicy and tasty! I think the recommend it medium or medium rare because the juices bring out the flavors. I could have handled the spiciest level, but glad I had the original because it really was all about the flavor. The masala fries were spicy, crispy, hot, and tasty. I got the large order, but honestly the small order would likely be plenty for one person. The spot has several tables and bench seats. Great murals along the walls as well as customer testimonials on paper. Not too crowded when I went on a Sunday afternoon. They have several iterations of the burger as well as a chicken sandwich, lamb chops, steak, and brisket. They have a veggie burger. The staff here were so super nice and helpful. They really were interested in my experience! I got the burger, large fries (btw, they also have sweet potato and plain fries available), two canned diet cokes, and two 16 Oz waters for 33 dollars before tip. Really enjoyed this spot, and would return. Also near lots of street art along Meserole and not too far from the Bushwick collective. It's surprising that when you walk up to the cashier there is a sign with images of burgers patties at different levels of doneness from medium rare to well done. But when you get the backyard burger the patty is so thin that it can't be made medium rare. It's so thin that you can't barely taste the beef. I was expecting it to be spiced a little more, so I was a little disappointed that this tasted more like an American burger rather than a burger with Pakistani flare. My brother comes here at least twice a week and every so often I join him for a nice Jani burger with a side of masala fries. This is definitely one of the most unique burgers in New York. The mint chutney is so complex and pairs so well with the fatty burger and chunky grilled tomato. The masala fries are perfectly seasoned (although sometimes too heavily for my liking) and come with an amazing handmade ketchup-esqe sauce. I will say that we used to get regular beef burgers but have switched over to the impossible as it's much lighter and we can actually finish it in one sitting. We heard of a Pakistani meats/barbecue place from a friend who swore that eating here would change our lives. I have roots in the Indian subcontinent and as someone who grew up eating heavily spiced kebabs, this was music to my ears. We've been ordering takeout here for three years now and I love it just as much as I did the first time me teeth sank into one of their juicy, delectable sandwiches. My favorite is their grilled chicken sandwich, I always get their double. With a side of masala fries and I wash it all down with a cold beer. I don't eat red meat but I've heard that I'm really missing out on their lamb options. This isn't for the faint hearted. Literally. If you are prone to heart burns, I still say it's worth it. The Jani burger is available to be cooked at your temperature preference and they always cook it to my preference of medium rare consistently every time. The 1/2 pound high quality halal beef patty itself is thick and juicy, and the mint chutney, along with the grilled tomato and raita offer such a delectable medley of flavors together. I usually also order a side of masala fries to be eaten with their housemade ketchup which is quite enjoyable, and have also tried their rack of lambs which was tender, tasty and grilled to perfection. Our friends have raved about this place for so long and we finally got to try it. We went on a very wet and dreary evening and the seat next to the door had water dripping from the ceiling and the space was tiny! After fumbling around for 5 minutes on where to sit with a party of 6, the servers kindly made room for us despite all the logistical issues of a leaky ceiling and the place being packed on a Saturday night. We ordered the Jani burger, nihari sandwich, masala fries, lamb chops and a mango spicy drink. The service was quick. The mango drink was of a lemonade consistency with tajin in it. It was absolutely delicious. Next were lamb chops- right off the bat with our first bite, one could tell they weren't stingy with the rub and there was no gamey aftertaste. 10/10. Even the folks at the table who don't like lamb, loved the lamb chops. It came with a dollop of the coriander chutney on the side which was thick and had an amazing kick to it. The nihari sandwich was the most perfect nihari. If they start selling nihari separately, it'll very easily be their best selling order. It was spicy and garnished with coriander and ginger. Our friend who ordered it did break out in a bit of a sweat with the heat of the sandwich (if you can't handle desi spicy food, go super mild on the spice level) and ended up having the sandwich with a knife and a fork since it did get soggy midway. Next was the jani burger. Everyone on the table loved their jani burger so I may be the only exception. I found the patty to be dry and the meat to bun ratio was off. The patty was huge and was topped with a slice of tomato and the same chutney that had come with the lamb chops. I don't think I would have it again but that's just me.
