Beef Shish Kebab Sandwich - A hand holds a beef shish kebab sandwich with lettuce, purple onions, and other vegetables, with a paper wrapper in the background.

Based on the reviews I thought this was mostly a brunch spot but I was mistaken! It's been on my radar for a while but I just never got around to trying it. Will say it will now be my rotation of local eats in this neighborhood! Healthy, clean, and super flavorful, I loved this sandwich which was basically a stuffed pita. The bread was soft and fluffy and it was packed to the brim! It was a great light lunch/snack size. The banana peppers really changed the game for me in this. Cant wait to be back to try other items!!

Make Your Own Bowl! - A large white bowl contains a Mediterranean-style salad with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and feta cheese, accompanied by two dips on a wooden serving tray.

We needed a dinner spot before a show at Alphaville so we chose Tabbouleh Cafe and we're so glad we did. We each had a bowl. I created my own and my husband had one off the menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were large. We loved the classic rock music that was playing and the gentleman who helped us was very nice, I am sorry I did not catch his name. Excellent food, excellent music, excellent service. What more can you ask for? Next time I'm in the area I will certainly stop by for a delicious bowl. Thank you for the complementary cup of Paris Tea!

Won't be ordering ribeye again as the majority of it is fat. Which is a bummer when it's an $8 added fee. The rest of the bowl is good but definitely would order a different meat next time

Absolutely hits the spot! I ordered the build your own bowl on DoorDash with falafel, chicken, apple, olives, tabbouleh, mixed greens and chickpeas. About 15 minutes later I got a call saying they were out of a couple of the ingredients I'd selected (it was almost the end of the night). He offered some replacements and even threw in a rice pudding! Excellent customer service and the food was delicious- all ingredients were fresh and flavorful! Would definitely order again.

I don't find myself in this area too often but I was visiting a friend and needed a quick bite. I ordered the chicken brussels bowl and I have to say it was quite delicious, and the guys that run this place are incredibly sweet and offered to add on so much else after I had already paid. I was even able to customize the bowl a bit before (too much rice bothers me so I asked if I could just have it on a salad). They were so warm and friendly and had top tier service. It definitely elevated the experience and made me feel amped up to try their food. And the food did not disappoint. Great amount, chicken well cooked, and I hope I get to return to the area again soon to try more.

The Brussels chicken bowl is the best! It's incredibly satisfying and packed with flavor. Highly recommend it!

Really delicious chicken sandwiches. They come with hummus, a ton of seasoned chicken, and a mix of fresh and pickled veggies.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Broadway and wanted Mediterranean food. We found Tabbouleh on Central Avenue in Brooklyn which was the best rated, not the closest. We were so glad we found it, you will not be disappointed! Everything was freshly made and portions were huge (enough for more than one meal) for the price ($15 for a Build Your Own Bowl). The falafel were stuffed with vegetables and generously covered with sesame seeds! The sides such as carrots, beets, cabbage and chickpea were nicely prepared (not mushy, well seasoned). The tabbouleh sauce had a great mint flavor, the garlic tahini was smooth and garlicky. The dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) were flavorful. We also enjoyed the free lemonade (not too tart, not too sweet) and hibiscus tea (nice additional cinnamon taste) available for customers while waiting. The owner even gave us fresh hot falafels covered with tahini sauce while we were waiting! Tabbouleh has two small tables and counter space where you could eat or wait for your food. The owner said that he had worked in Mediterranean restaurants his entire life and opened Tabbouleh so he could make Mediterranean food the way he thought it should be made. He was an artist in the way he made the bowls, dicing and presenting the vegetables around the edge of the bowl in a beautiful way (please see accompanying photos which unfortunately were taken after smashing a lid on top of the bowls and walking back to the hotel with the bowls bouncing around in the bag). Hopefully everyone will enjoy the food as much as we did!

I'll start with a service. Guys working there are just extremely nice. They will take care of you and make you exactly what you want. Food is delicious. Everything is fresh, portions are pretty big, and not too expensive. Stuffed falafel is a must try!

Tabbouleh Falafel Bowl - A takeout container features falafel balls topped with white sauce and a vegetable salad with carrots, cucumbers, and herbs.

These dudes are some of the best food in Bushwick. Super fresh ingredients, so much flavor, and extremely friendly service. Definitely try the hummus and falafel!

Great portion size. Meat was tender. Bowl wasn't dry (typically a problem w bowls). This is my new spot. Will be back.

Cafe Mogador - Tunisian Pita Sandwich, stuffed with house-made spicy merguez sausage

Sat down thinking I'd do something light and ended up going all in. Ordered their Moroccan eggs with spicy tomato sauce and a side of their famous challah French toast. The eggs came out bubbling hot, perfectly spiced, with that slow-simmered depth that tastes like someone's been making it the same way for years. The bread they serve with it is dangerous... I kept telling myself "last bite" and then immediately going back in. But the French toast was the real moment. Crispy edges, soft inside, not overly eggy, and just the right amount of sweetness. I didn't even use syrup for half of it. Also grabbed a mint tea which felt like the perfect reset in between bites. Service was relaxed but attentive, and the whole place has this warm, slightly chaotic brunch energy that somehow works. Williamsburg has a million brunch spots, but this is one of the few that actually delivers on flavor and not just aesthetics. Definitely coming back... probably too often.

My husband LOVED the burek, but then they totally changed it and now it's just gone. The food is still delicious, but unpredictable of what we can / will order. The new space is beautiful and open and airy, but sadly the service has dipped. This place used to be almost too fast, we were in and out and we consistently knew we could come here and get out in a very timely manner. But now I literally had to flag down our waitress and I still didn't get her attention, another waitress came over to help us get our check. We also didn't get checked on at all, luckily our food was good and right. The table next to us didn't get greeted for water or anything so they had to flag down the guy delivering food to get a waitress. I thinkkk it may be because the wait staff is servicing here and the location next store but it's really impacted the experience. Totally understand that a lot of places are understaffed, but we've never experienced this before Miriam we love you, but pleaseeeeee stop changing the menu.

It's super cozy inside, and they also give you pillows to sit on. Our server was really friendly and gave us great recommendations. We ordered a few different things to share for our party of two: - Bacon wrapped dates (5/5) so good!!! - Short ribs (5/5) I actually don't usually eat beef but these were so good and not dry. The orzo on the side also balanced it out well. - Kale salad (5/5) This seemed like a simple salad but it was so yummy and dressed well. The pine nuts tasted good with this too! - Vegan fruit sundae (2/5) Sadly this was the only thing that missed the mark. I didn't like the raisins and the almonds didn't really work well with everything but that was just me. The sorbet was also pretty sour. The best thing about this was the white cream on top (it tasted like real cream)

Mackerel Toast - maybe not the most appealing visually, but delicious nonetheless. Smoked Black Cod Collar - Outstanding! This was a special for the evening. Highly recommended if they have it available when you visit. Octopus - delicately cooked and nicely seasoned. I liked the addition of the Brussel Sprouts also. When you…read morewalk in, you are immediately greeted by a giant oven baking fresh pita as well as an open kitchen. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.
