I absolutely adore this cafe and their drink menu that changes seasonally. There is seating in the back as well as outside in front. They strike a nice balance of laptop use by banning it for most, but not all, tables on weekends. Allowed at all tables on the weekdays. Its positioning on the street means there's tons of great daylight that hits the outside seating so even during cold seasons it can be usable. This is one of my favorite features. I'm writing this review for a specific reason. The only thing is that I implore the owner to reconsider the artwork. It really ruins the neighborhood vibe by having Bored Ape Yacht Club / NFT / generative AI art everywhere. It really cheapens the experience. I think it would be lovely if they leaned into their roots with some real Turkish artists. I love their more small-cafe touches like dried pampas grass in repurposed wine bottles. But having so many TV screens of this art disrupts the cozy neighborhood vibe. read more

This review is not for the coffee. Similar to some other reviews, the place is cute, but food & drink was a bit underwhelming. There's a lot of coffee shops nearby and I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here. The inside is small, no seating. However, there are a few tables outside that are perfect when the weather is nice. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk. I've had worse and I've had better - it leaned more towards the grassy flavor profile, but not bitter. It was watery though which I didn't like. Food-wise, I wouldn't come just for the food. It's a bit underwhelming. I got the mini feta roll - I would skip. Feta texture was rubbery, even warmed up. Baklava was ok, but would skip. The spinach feta pastry was pretty good - salty & buttery and the pastry was nice & flaky. read more

I think the ambience of this place is excellent. It is an ideal coffee shop to work out of. The service was also very quick and good. But of course, the most important part... coffee was not very strong. An iced latte with oat milk ran me just over $8 dollars before tip. I don't know how many espresso shots they're pulling for their standard latte but I can tell you it's not enough. read more

Lion's Milk is a small coffee shop tucked in Williamsburg with such nice indoor and outdoor seating. I found myself walking in for a hot coffee on a rainy day. The space was filled with folks working from home and chatting about work. I got a flat white which blew me away- the coffee was bold and so smooth. The lighting in the space and music was very relaxing and chill. I highly recommend a visit. this little Turkish Café near my house is amazing. It's nestled right in my quiet street off the beaten path but yet they provide great quality coffee. They also offer some pastries and snacks with some Turkish twist, including a Turkish sausage sandwich and special Turkish bagel. The only reason I knocked down one star is because the pastries are sometimes stale but otherwise this is a great place read more

I'm a bus away from Williamsburg and usually work remotely, so I decided to come here to do work on a Monday afternoon. This is my second time visiting, as my first visit was on a Saturday and they don't allow laptops on the weekends. During both visits, the drinks were just okay. On the Saturday visit, I got an Iced Oat Matcha Latte. I found the matcha to be rather powdery. There was way more oat milk than matcha too, so the flavor wasn't very potent. During this recent visit, I got an Iced Chai. Again, the milk ratio was overwhelming so the chai flavor didn't stand out. The next time I come back, I'd probably opt for a coffee-based drink. However, the ambiance was very nice. My first time visiting, I just got my drink and went, but this time around, I was able to sit down indoors and do work for a couple of hours until near close. The wi-fi was reliable, but it was hard to find a seat that was close to an outlet, especially since a lot of the table spaces were shared. A nice place to work, but I'd suggest coming earlier if you want to camp out and work all day. Otherwise, it's a nice place to stop by with a friend for coffee and a chat. read more

Ordered: Iced Vanilla Oat Latte (~$8): includes ice (+50¢), vanilla syrup (+50¢), and oat milk (+$1) Aya's take: Cozy cafe with a decent amount of seating in the back. I also didn't realize it was an NFT cafe but the artwork makes more sense now. ~$8 is a bit steep for a latte but I will say it was exceptionally made. The espresso was rich and smooth, the vanilla syrup gave it a subtle sweetness, and the oat milk made it creamy. I didn't understand the charge for getting the latte iced but after the first sip, I found it worth a try. I'm not sure if this would be my go-to due to price and proximity, but if you're in the area, this is a great stop for your caffeine fix. read more

Lion's Milk is a true chameleon of a space, seamlessly transitioning from cafe to wine bar. I landed here looking for a coffee shop in the neighborhood that wasn't totally packed, and the back table here was a totally hospitable place for me to enjoy some coffee and work at for a couple of hours. The seats have backs, inviting you to stay a while and try some of their Turkish pastries. The wifi is pretty strong and I didn't feel rushed out. While I was there they had mostly NFT art with QR codes hung up on the walls, but I think they probably rotate the art out. It's on my list of solid places to work from when I want to get out of my home office. read more

I did not realize this was an NFT cafe until it was pointed out to me which really threw me off. Overall, light airy interior mostly white and glass which is a nice feel! I went around 11 am on Sunday and it wasn't too crowded but there were definitely people. I ordered an iced coffee and immediately upon picking it up I knew it would be way too milky. It seemed only to have one shot of espresso when it was clearly more than 8 oz. Seems like they are a pastry joint so perhaps worth coming for the food another time! read more

It's a cute cafe, but a little disappointed with the drinks. Also note that they have wifi, but no laptops on the weekend. Plenty of seating in the back though, it wasn't hard to find a seat on the weekend around noon. Service was ok. Salep ($6) - I was so excited to try this since I've been searching for it since I tried it back in Istanbul way back when. This one tasted super milky and lightly like chai and cinnamon. Stopped for the first time with a friend today and grabbed a table outside (there's a good bit of outdoor seating). The iced coffee I got was perfection, especially on a hot day. I thought the vegan chocolate chip banana bread I got was a little pricey for the size, at almost $6. But, it tasted nice and homemade, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'd like to come back and try some of the pastries they have on offer. My friend realized there's a little outdoor area out the back just as we were leaving, so I'd come back and check that out too. FYI no dogs allowed inside, and there was a sign up saying no cash, and no laptops allowed on weekends. read more

Update! Finally got to try their pastries and they were excellent! The iced coffee wasn't bad either. Got an iced coffee with the mushroom/tomato pastry, the spinach borek, and the olive sandwich - each were really tasty and hit the spot. The only downsides were 1) the Turkish coffee was lukewarm and 2) the outdoor backyard seating is a bit cramped. Would come again! Nice cozy cafe with the sun drenched on the outdoor seating area in front. There are also covered booth tables decorated cutely. We ordered two oat mochas, which were delicious, and a tomato, basil, goat cheese sandwich which was also surprisingly simple and tasty. Great little coffee spot with a Turkish twist. The iced coffee was really tasty. I saw others getting the Turkish coffee which will surely offer an extra jolt to wake up in the morning. The spinach and feta borek was served warm, flaky, and delicious. Courteous service too. I was happy to finally try it since reading about it in Narnia :) My latte was good. Pricing is pretty "average" for city pricing. We got a nice spot and got some work done for a little! Been here a few times, unintentionally, it's always during the fall time. Something about this coffee shop makes you gravitate towards it when the Halloween/Christmas lights go up and you're in the mood to wrap your cold hands around a warm mug of latte. We came here on a Sunday evening, about 30 mins before closing time. They were cleaning up but they were still serving so we got ourselves a turmeric latte with oat milk for me, a cappuccino for my husband and a feta roll for my daughter. They were nice enough to offer free Turkish delight sweets with our order. We sat at their outdoor space on the sidewalk. The turmeric latte comes without any sweetener so I recommend you add some or ask them for it. The Turkish delight was truly delightful, it was mango/passion fruit flavored. We spent some time drinking our coffee even though they were closing up. They didn't push us up finish up. In fact, we saw another customer walk up to see if they were open, and they decided to serve her too, which I thought was nice of them. If you're in the neighborhood, check them out. I went in here on a cold winter day to meet up with a friend. It's a Turkish coffee shop in Williamsburg. The interior was understated but comfortable and there is enough seating. The service was very warm and pleasant. I was curious about the sales and the barista made a very small sample to try which was very nice of her. The sales taste pretty similar to chai in terms of the spices that are used however the flavor isn't as pronounced so I needed to really savour many sips to get an idea of what it was which leads me to my next point. I ended up ordering the chai and didn't really like it (I'll give it a 2.5/5). The chai too was very understated, i tasted more of the oat milk than the sweet spiced chai flavor. I wish they would balance out their drinks a little bit. My friend ordered the croissant which looked really good and a black coffee. read more

If only because this is the single place I can find anywhere near NY that serves sahlep, Lion's Milk deserves 5 stars! If only they also had a wider assortment of baklava, this cute little shop would take me back to Karakoy in full. I don't believe the breads are baked on premises, but they have a wide assortment of Turkish baked treats, my favorite of which was the mushroom-sundried tomato gozleme. read more

LOVED this Turkish cafe: excellent food, good vibes, great service. Came in and got a spinach and cheese Turkish borek and an iced tea and was impressed. The borek was excellent: flaky dough with a flavorful and light filling that hit the spot. The tea I got was freshly brewed, and pretty strong which was exactly what I needed. Service was fast and pretty friendly. Some outdoor but mostly indoor seating. Good for working and for chilling. TLDR: definitely check this place out you won't regret it :) read more

I'd rate Lion's Milk four and a half stars. We picked up a spinach and feta borek to share. It was nicely flakey yet held together well. I'd definitely recommend it. They allowed us try try one of their pistachio and marshmallow Turkish delights while we waited. It was so good. I'm eager to return to try one of their coffees or teas. read more

Oh hoho was I ever excited to stumble upon this place. It falls neatly into the trinity that (I think) makes for a perfect cafe: unique, affordable and delicious! First off, get the Turkish coffee. Not only is it piping hot, delicious, strong and a fun way to shake up your regular coffee habit, but it is also comes with a piece of Turkish Delight! Which, can I say Yelp, is positively delightful. Would I sell my entire family to an ice queen for Turkish Delight on a normal day? Absolutely. So to get a whole piece with my coffee was positively the best thing that happened to me that entire day. (Think what you want about my isolated pandemic life but that would be the truth in a normal year too.) Then, check out this solid food menu. They have a ton of other delectable Turkish delights (sorry) including a lovely beef gozleme -- just like mama never made but might have bought for me. But for real this gozleme is amazing, tender, flavorful, fresh, a perfect lunch (or large snack). They've also got some great looking sandwiches and pastries I will be sure to go back and check out for myself. Amazing to find a place where I can get lunch under $10 in Williamsburg. Lion's Milk is actually means Rakı which is an unsweetened, anise-flavored Turkish alcoholic drink that is popular in Turkey, as an apéritif. It is often served with seafood or meze. It is similar to several other alcoholic beverages available around the Mediterranean and the Middle East, like ouzo, sambuca and arak. Dilution with water causes rakı to turn a milky-white color. This phenomenon has resulted in the drink being popularly referred to Lion's Milk. Lion is a Turkish colloquial metaphor for a strong, courageous man, this gives the term a meaning close to "the milk for the strong." Every Turkish person knows story and loves the term. So do we.

And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.

I completely understand that there were customers waiting behind me and that the staff needs to keep the line moving. However, I believe every customer deserves to be treated with patience and respect. If I am spending over $120 on your products, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect five minutes of patience while I carefully choose my order. I truly love this bakery and will continue recommending it because the quality of the bread is exceptional. I only hope the customer service can better reflect the quality of the products. A little more patience and kindness would make the experience just as memorable as the bread itself.

The West Coast oysters were Kumamoto (California), while the East Coast selection were called Bad Boys (from Nova Scotia, Canada). Normally I'm a big fan of West coast oysters, but the Bad Boys were delicious! They were plump with a bold ocean brine & crisp finish. My friend also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of the best oyster HH spots I've come across, because it seems to be harder finding good ones lately.
