This is a very solid coffee shop! I was in the neighborhood and washed a quick bite and coffee and wandered it. The staff may be the kindest coffee house staff in Brooklyn. Wish the baristas were consistent, some are skilled and some don't know a flat white is not a latte. Solid local coffee shop. We had about 1.5 hours to kill before our dinner reservation in the area and was able to grab a coffee and loiter for a long time. Staff were extremely nice and friendly. If you have to poop, look elsewhere. This place is not for you. The bathroom is barraged with anti-pooping literature. Pooping is NOT allowed here. Take note, you will be shamed if you poop here. I've lived near Social House for about a year but I've just recently started drinking coffee again. I've stopped by a couple times already and every time, it's a positive experience. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and not just because New York is not. The prices are very reasonable for the area - a cold brew is $4 and they'll discount it a little if you bring your own cup. The baristas are super generous with the pour. The menu is large with lots of flavors and combinations. They also offer pastries and food like sandwiches, but I haven't tried any yet. It also looks like a nice place to sit outside and work. If you forget your wallet at home, they accept digital payments like Apple Pay. In all, Social House is a nice little local spot that doesn't try too hard to be cool like a lot of places in Williamsburg. They're so nice and the coffee is good, so it's become my go-to. read more

I was in the area due to an event and I needed a place to work while waiting. This cafe was in proximity and had cute outdoor and indoor space so I was glad to find it. Plus they had wifi (password needed) so I could work. As a cafe, it didn't have that bold white/marble aesthetic that is common. Instead it had black marble. Jokes aside, I think that helped contributed to it being a peaceful place to work. That and the fact it was in playing subdued versions of The Weeknd's best hits. Food wise, it is a cafe that it had standard food options (sandwiches, bagels, salads) and coffee options. In fact, there latte drinks were pretty extensive with options including Nutella, dark chocolate mocha and etc. they also had drink options like lavender mimosas, espresso martinis and wine. Hence the name social house. As for myself I had the iced dark chocolate mocha, chicken salad and a standard mimosa. They were perfectly fine and filled me up. I love the vibe in here. It is relaxed, cozy, and a great place to do work (there are several outlets). I ordered the cinnamon crunch latte which was alright (a little too sweet for me, could use some more vanilla), but I can't speak about their actual coffees without trying them without the flavourings. I also ordered the caprese sandwich on a ciabatta roll. This sandwich was standard but I did appreciate that they warmed it up for me as I prefer and that it came with a side salad. Breakfast/brunch; I had the Social House Special which is a fantastic ciabatta sandwich (initially I thought it was a breakfast plate) and my companion had the folded egg avocado sandwich (open faced toast) which was also scrumptious. Interior decor was great as is exterior seating. Location also looks like it serves alcohol and other pastries as well. We sat outside and I appreciate they brought the food and smoothie out to me. I work in the area and this is a spot I know I can get a nice coffee and bagel and be smiled at. It is unfortunate that the chill vibes are rarer and rarer in trendy Brooklyn areas. Had one pleasant experience here but the most recent was a take out order which took an hour after it was placed. I sat in the restaurant for 30 minutes and they made me feel very uncomfortable. When I checked the order two of the sandwiches were not yet prepared and had to wait another 15 minutes for them to get it right. I will maybe give them another chance, but just maybe. PS.
