We made the mistake of forgetting it was a holiday and unfortunately (fortunately?), our original brunch destination was closed. We happened to find this gem a short walk away and were so pleasantly surprised! We ordered the Paris sandwich with pork belly (nice thick slices of pork belly) with tangy sauce - reminds me of Banh mi as others have said before. The toast has a bolder flavor that started as our favorite but in the end we were glad we only split one instead of one each. The sandwich was well balanced and we wished we got one more. The service is quite slow because of the ratio of staff to people ordering. Ideally they should hire more people to work in the kitchen to improve wait time. I stopped in for a quick bite with My husband and toddler. He had the shrimp avocado toast, toddler had a bagel with cream cheese, and I had the spicy chicken banh mi. Bonus: they have good bagels! Finding 19 Cafe was such a treat!! The cafe is small but homey and has lots of different things to choose from. I ordered a bagel, egg, and cheese with avocado which I don't think was on the menu but came beautifully prepared, but more importantly exceptionally delicious. I don't think I've had a better bagel egg and cheese and the avocado really was the cherry on top. They also added a little I think it was sriracha mayo which was subtle but took it to the next level. There are a few tables for seating inside and outside, but I wouldn't say this is a place for large groups so just keep that in mind. The folks who work here are extremely nice and friendly and will smile at recognized customers:) They probably have one of the best bagel sandwiches I have ever eaten. I normally get an egg, cheese, and kale on an everything bagel and I am always amazed by how delicious it is. They add additional sauces and spices that make it taste better than any commercialized bagel place down the block. Finally, you have to try there cold brew. I am honestly not a huge coffee person, but if I am ever in need of one, I always know to stop by 19 cafe because I know I will enjoy the taste and not have an upset stomach. This is a really cool and unique place. Great coffee. Very unique breakfast options. Some really adorable older neighborhood folks hang out on the benches outside. Lots of young hip people are constantly swinging by for coffee. I miss being able to go inside because this place had AMAZING art on the walls but I'm so grateful this business is still going strong. Cute cafe with some good avocado toast. Food: Got the avocado and shrimp toast with spicy sauce on top. Sauce tasted like the spicy mayonnaise sauce that's usually put on sushi. The avocado tasted fresh and the shrimp was good. Overall it was a good combination and tasted light and fresh. The pieces were pretty big and the price was reasonable for two slices. Overall the menu seems pretty good and varied for a cafe. Seems like you can get full on things outside of the usual generic cafe foods. Great for a quick bite for brunch or lunch. Atmosphere: pretty small and cute but does have some seating inside. Star off because it took a long time to get the toast and people after us got food faster than us. This is hands-down my favorite place in the neighborhood. Before I even get to the food (which is outstanding), I want to shout out the gentleman taking down orders and working the register. He is so kind and welcoming, and I always look forward to seeing him. The drinks are excellent, from the chai to the matcha to the iced coffee-- all fantastic. But the bagel sandwiches. WOW. Right around the corner from where I live and I'm just now finally trying this spot. It a nice small cafe really quiet on the inside. Bought a everything bagel with bacon egg and cheese and boy was it probably the best one I've ever had. Whatever sauce they use is really good it nice and sweet and I love the way they cooked my egg, the bacon was nice and crunchy and flavorful and they weren't cheap with the bacon neither. My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way to Williamsburg for brunch one summer Sunday morning. The place was very nice with a hipster feel to it. The staff was welcoming and polite to us. I had the pork belly Paris sandwich while my girlfriend ordered the kimchi and hard boiled egg sandwich with an iced matcha latte. The Paris sandwich was phenomenal. The bread was very light and fluffy on the inside, while slightly crisped on the outside. The pork belly was cooked very well in what tasted like Korean bbq sauce, very crisp around the edges but not over cooked. The rest of the ingredients were nice and light, similar to a well made Bhan mi. As for the kimchi and egg, it was 2 open faced pieces of toast with perfectly ripened kimchi, a touch of sriracha mayo, and sliced hard boiled egg on multigrain toast. It just worked. She also seemed to thoroughly enjoy her latte. There were 2 things I didn't like. Both portions were a bit small. With that said, the food was very cheap. The amount of protein was also a not quite substantial enough. There just wasn't quite enough pork belly on mine, and it only appeared to be maybe 1 slices up egg between both pieces of toast on hers. Maybe these were just supposed to be lighter options? Either way, we were still pleasantly surprised by the quality and prices. I highly recommend stopping by. read more
