I haven't been here in a hot second (I'm talking years) and finally decided to come for some shaved ice on a warm day. There's plenty of tables to sit at and there's also a restroom. We tried the melon shaved ice $22 for the large which was a bit pricy but it was quite delicious. We were worried that the large might be too much for two people but honestly we were able to finish it without a problem. The melon pieces were sweet, the ice is milk based so it was creamy and flavorful on its own. We barely used the condensed milk that it came with (and we loved how they put it on the side for us instead). At the bottom of the shaved ice was cereal pieces and mochi which gave a nice different texture. We also tried their drinks specifically their blue lemonade and mango-ade which I thought was just ok. The highlight is definitely their shaved ice. Definitely go for the large as the small seemed much smaller and for double the price, you can get almost 2-3x more. Overall: it's a great place to grab a shaved ice and relax . The atmosphere is chill and you can stay without feeling rushed. read more

What I got instead was a cup of sadness with commitment issues. The shaved ice somehow had no flavor. None. I have had ice cubes straight from my freezer with more personality. Bingsoo heavily relies on lots of toppings layered all throughout. Their machine is able to making super fluffy shaved milk ice, but it really lacks flavor which would be normal/great if not for the lack of toppings. I felt that there was very little flavour coming from the syrups, not enough condensed milk for the size, and not enough corn flakes/mochi/strawberries to give lots of textural variety throughout. With a 20$ dessert, I expect all of these things and more. I would prefer to make this at home or go somewhere else the next time. HOWEVER, I wish I knew that there was lots of powders/dustings on the counter to add extra flavour. These include coacoa powder, pistachio powder, and taro powder. If i knew beforehand I believe my experience would have been much more memorable and enjoyable. read more

My sister spoke so highly about Sweet Moment. So we finally paid it a visit on a hot sunny Wednesday afternoon. It was a wonderful treat. Upon our arrival we go lost in Lil Italy. But we was determined to enjoyed a wonderful treat of shaved flavored ice. When we walk inside I was stunn by how large and relaxing the place was. Cute place who adores BTS w life size cardboard figures and music. I love that they play BTS! It's kinda loud in here because there are a lot of people and the desserts are tasty. There is a bathroom but sometimes it's not in order and they do have Wi-Fi but they don't have it for Friday Saturday Sundays. Overall, it's a fun place to have dessert and talk with friends. Came on a Friday night and this place was pretty full. Four of us were able to grab a seat and we ordered the Nutella Banana Waffle and the Matcha Sesame Bingsoo. The nutella banana waffle was delicious but standard in my opinion - nothing too crazy that made it stand out but was a table favorite. The matcha sesame bingsoo was alright, a bit difficult to eat since it had to flop over to really soak up the flavors. Some of the ice had no flavor whatsoever and we had to mix everything together, turning it more into an ice cream. Outstanding shaved ice cafe located in the heart of Chinatown! I have to make a stop at Sweet Moment every time I'm in NYC, and I'm blown away every time by how perfectly fluffy the ice is and the number of mix-ins they add to each bingsoo. I switch up my order each time I visit, but I've recently been obsessed with their mango and strawberry matcha bingsoos. They come in two sizes -- the small fits in a 16-oz plastic cup, which is the perfect size for 1-2 people, and the large option comes in a lovely little black pan and can easily serve 3-4. The mango bingsoo is delightful, with layers of their perfectly fluffy, milky, and slightly sweet shaved ice sandwiched between a slightly tart, slightly sweet mango puree. There are a few mini mochi pieces mixed in throughout the shaved ice, and then the whole thing is topped with a scoop of ice cream, fresh mango chunks, and little cubes of cheesecake. As a finishing touch, they drizzle on a bit of mango syrup and, to add a slight bit of crunch, a few cornflakes and a small wafer roll. The various pieces come together to create a great combination of sweet and tart, and there are so many different textures in each and every bite. Their strawberry matcha bingsoo is equally delightful, with layers of their perfectly crafted shaved ice studded with pieces of mini mochi, and slightly sweet and tart strawberry puree. The bona fide tour of shaved ice is topped with a huge scoop of matcha ice cream, whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and white chocolate shavings. Then, the entire thing is drizzled with strawberry and matcha syrups, which give the ice lovely stripes of white, red, and green. They definitely load up each of the shaved ices with plenty of mix-ins and toppings, although they could probably add just slightly more. The ratios are a bit off, so the last quarter or so of the shaved ice tends to lack a bit of flavor. The staff is also super friendly and there's a decent amount of seating, so you should be able to enjoy your shaved ice inside; even if you aren't able to snag one of the single-party tables in the back, there's a large communal high-top right next to the cashier counter that's a great spot to hang out and people watch. The front half of the store also often has a few small tables for local vendors (often folks selling k-pop merch), so you can also browse their selection as you wait. read more

This summer, I saw pictures of their bingsoo in the summer and immediately made my way over to this cafe. Based on other reviews, I may have visited on an off day. Upon walking in, it was packed; there were trinket/jewelry vendors and kpop posters all over the walls. There is a good amount of seating, but the event may have drew in a huge crowd. People were standing around waiting for tables, and many were left sticky and dirty. My friend and I ordered a black sesame bingsoo to share; it was enough for both of us, but definitely more fitting as a single serving. Despite being busy, the order came out pretty fast. I got the earl grey latte and wished it was a little stronger, so I let the tea bag sit in the milk for a while longer while I ate my mango and cheesecake bingsu (shaved ice). The bingsu was phenomenal - the shaved ice was topped with a drizzle of mango on top of ice cream with chunks of sweet mango and cheesecake bites. So cute - they sell lots of pins/independent creator's stuff (I think), and there's a lot of K pop photos all around the cafe. I tried their Matcha latte with oat milk (iced), and it was very good. The cafe is quite big, with plenty of seating, I really loved how the used wood in their decor - it gives a rustic-ish feeling. I came at around 11:30 am, and there was only one employee handling payment and making drinks - but it also wasn't busy so it was fine. Shaved ice was refreshing on a hot day and I loved the cheesecake bits on top! Drink was super cute but took a while to come out. Keep in mind that the creamart drinks only come cold. It was certainly not a sweet moment as the atmospheric conditions were boisterously loud from patrons' chatter and overhead background music which the meh quality sweets and drinks did not satisfy the deficiencies for a good experience. Service is average. I do appreciate the concept of a quaint cafe for a New York moment. With a friend to venture my Yelp bookmarks our order consists of: Sparkling water (unknown brand name), $3.25 The water was meh as the carbon was average. Strawberry ade (replicate of strawberry lemonade), $5.75 There were absolutely no lemonade taste, but it was a served cold. I was actually drinking water with a lot of ice and several fresh strawberry fruit as toppings. Tiramisu, $5.05 This Italian dessert was average. French macarons vanilla, dark chocolate, rose, wedding almond, $3.00 each All flavors (except the dark chocolate) tasted very cheesy, but chewy far and remote from their actual flavors. Sweet Moment is one of those places that I always forget about until I'm walking in the area and my friends and I want something sweet - I've been here a few times before, and it's always quite nice for a quick treat. This time, my friend and I ordered the small matcha strawberry shaved ice. (like bingsoo, if that's splitting hairs). It was very yummy. The milky ice was not too sweet, the matcha flavour from the ice cream and the sauce (?) went nicely with the ice and the bites of strawberries. I quite liked the cornflakes, too; they added a nice flavour and texture contrast while eating. Portion size is good; I think it can be hard to finish the large size option with just one other person (especially if you've just eaten). And it was only $8-ish! Nowadays I think that is a quite a good price for any Asian dessert (even bubble tea drinks can be that pricey, and this dessert was for 2 people, no less.) The downside is that it can often be quite crowded (especially in peak, i.e. post-meal dessert) times, and finding seating (especially for any group of ... 3? or more people) might be challenging. Also, the queue for the washroom! So long! Every time! :( All in all, though, I think the desserts l've had here have always been quite lovely and I will try to remember to come by more often! read more

It felt cramped because of the event (I was nervous we wouldn't be able to find a place to sit, but luckily we did), but otherwise I enjoyed the ambiance. Shaved ice with different toppings and presented so beautifully! They also have varieties of lattes and waffles as well. The cashier was really helpful in walking us through their latte options. They also sold some stationary from small businesses, which it's always nice to see the support. I opted for a trusty Hot Matcha Latte, which had the perfect ratio of matcha powder and milk! Some other ladies in my party got their Pistachio Latte, which received no complaints.
