there is a reason this cafe/wine bar tops every "best places to work remote from" list I've found - this the most gorgeous bookstore and cafe that slowly turns into a wine bar. the walls are covered in beautiful books with sections for weird female protagonists and banned books. large couches, tables, spinning plushy chairs, truly a range of seating options until 4pm when it turns over for dinner service (beware 90 min wifi limit!!) - the coffee is reasonably priced ($5 americano with almond milk) and the service is very fast at the counter. the food menu is minimal until dinner, so I went with the one sandwich option with meat. - the prosciutto Gruyère was delicious. the bread has a crispy crunch while the inside had the perfect amount of butter to soften the inside further. cheese was sharp and meat was salty, a classic combination done well. - I loved it here and will certainly come back when I have hotspot data or downloaded materials to work on after the 90 min wifi limit read more

Overall rating: 4.8 I went here on one of those movie nights last summer. Yes, this is a very late review! The space is sooo pretty and definitely want to visit again. They don't serve substantial food so I do think $60 dollars is a bit steep for a movie I've already seen. Definitely recommend coming early though if you do it. Seats fill up fast!! A very cool vibe but so incredibly crowded. We went on a Monday night and had no idea it was their Movie Monday night. Completely sold out and the lounge area was completely booked for the movie. I also didn't realize they convert it basically to a bar after 4 PM. I was hoping to get some work done, but they don't allow laptops at the bar. Overall, this is a cool space. But was a little frustrated by the experience since it's listed as a cafe and working space. I guess only until a certain time at night. I'll need to visit earlier next time. read more

A friend and I went to Bibliotheque for their movie nights on Mondays. The bar itself is pretty small and crowded, but I was delighted to see the seating area in the back, which had floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and plush/comfy seating. For the movie showing itself, they bring down a projector and play it on screen. It was very nice! The waiters are very attentive, and they check on you throughout the night for water and drink refills. They even provide a small container of freshly popped popcorn! My friend and I ordered a charcuterie board to share, which had fresh bread slices, cheeses (cheddar and peppercorn), hot chorizo, mortadella, and some sauces (mustard and a jam). We also got the prosciutto sandwich to share. I loved the bread, it was sooooo fresh and crunchy! We also ordered wine - I particularly enjoyed their Riesling. I would love to go back and visit this place during the day as a bookstore/coffee shop. It is so comfy and inviting, I feel like I could spend hours here! read more

Went with a couple friends, we loved the vibe of this place. Since it wasn't too busy, the staff was kind enough to let us in without a reservation, and at one of the better tables. Friends loved the wine, I loved the sparkling apple cider. Very well curated book selection on the walls, I could browse happily forever. Had a wonderful conversation with the girl who served us, we talked about her studies and books we both loved and were excited for, and when she recommended the wines she gave excellent descriptions and was very knowledgeable about them. Such a cute area to get work done, have coffee with a friend, or grab a quick snack! The interior is really nice and clean, including the bathroom--which is a pleasant surprise, especially in NYC. One thing to note is that the food items are a bit pricey, though the space is perfect for getting some work done. They have a good amount of seating inside and give you WiFi for a limited time. The coffee is good! They have so many books and the aesthetic is beautiful. This could easily be one of my favorite cafes to work from. It's very easy going, front has high tops seating and a bar as you walk in. Towards the back is a lofty sprawling array of books. Also looks like a library. Cozy tables in back for single or group parties. Staff were helpful and polite. Ambiance was fairly quiet, lots of people working remotely. Chocolate chip cookies yum. The seating is first come, first serve in the daytime but cozy in the back room with all the books. That is the quieter area. The bar area in the front is a bit louder or more lively. An amazing concept for a place! Bibliotheque is part bookstore/part wine-bar and its sole purpose is for you to pick up a libation of choice, a book, and a seat to park yourself in. If wine is not your fancy, there is also a wide variety of coffee drinks and food to choose from. I ended up getting a strawberry matcha latte and it was surprisingly coffee shop quality as I sat down to read my Kindle (shhhhh). In addition, the venue does offer events which help to bring the community together like board game nights, open mics, movie nights, etc. which I truly appreciate. And the staff is super sweet and trying their best despite the crowd size! Really my only complaint is that the space is quite tiny for the amount of people that show up. Even at my bar seat, I was constantly rubbing elbows with the not so famous, which took away from the coziness of the space. But alas, that was my fault for showing up on a hot day like Saturday. read more

I would be remiss to not admit that I wasn't entirely sold/interested in Bibliotheque at night for a date spot; I think it's more of a wholesome spot during the day for a coffee chat/hiding away to read a book in the lowkey area of Soho. When I was brought here I was hatching a little escape route in the bathroom, but figured it'd be best to give someone/something/someplace a chance before coming to a conclusion as the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover" does translate to this scenario. We ordered: Grenache Blend, Peyrassol, Rosé, Reserve Des Templiers, Provence Pinot Gris Blend, Stolpman, Orange, Love You Bunches, Santa Barbara Spiced Calamari in Ragout, José Gourmet, Spain Trout in EVOO and Lemon, ABC+, Portugal If it's your first time here, I'd recommend asking for more clarification on the fish section as it'll be charcuterie style with the fish still being in its respective tin. The rosé was yummy however surprisingly the food inspired me to make a girl dinner esque concept like this-the spiced calamari wasn't too spicy and I'd recommend that specific tin selection. I would've preferred if on the menu, they specified which veggies would be offered since I'm not the biggest fan of peppers. While it's nice coming here as a date night spot, I didn't really see anyone reading as it can be a bit dark even though there are table lamps, the coffee menu looks pretty robust with lavender syrup and a specialty drink like a strawberry matcha so I'm sure I'd be delighted to come during the day when there's more light. read more

We had tickets to a Monday night screening of Pretty Woman. Tickets are $30 each that grant you a reserved seat and 10% a drink. We arrived at 6:40pm but they were not set up for the movie yet. The previous movie had just ended. We were able to sit around 7pm and the movie started within ten minutes. The full dinner and bar menu is served throughout the evening. I had a glass of wine and a cheese plate. My boyfriend had a beer and a Caprese sandwich. We thought the food was very good. The wine was excellent. I also had a ginger cookie for dessert that wasn't on the dinner menu but they had some left over from the cafe so they were able to sell me one. I recommend they have one or two dessert offerings in the evening time. Some chocolate would be nice with the wine. All of the staff were attentive and friendly. It was cozy to watch a movie in the space, I don't know why other reviews say it's not? We really enjoyed coming here for some drinks, food and a movie. There was some noise from the bar that you could hear above the movie when it started but eventually the bar quieted down as it got later. It's almost impossible to come here during the daytime because it's so crowded. I've never been able to come here during the day and get a seat. It seems like coming in the evening with a reservation is the way to go. They have two bathrooms and they are so clean and so pretty. Seriously. The book selection is good but it can be hard to browse during the day time. I did purchase a book the night of the screening when the space was less crowded and I could browse more. The server wasn't aware of the 10% drink offering with the ticket so we had to ask for it once the bill arrived. I don't think most people realize this is included with your ticket. Overall, I think Bibliotheque hosts great evening events with reserved seating. I'd love to come to more events as they expand their offerings. Showing up just to browse and sit at the cafe seems like a losing move because of the crowds so I'd avoid that. Also there's some weirdo customers that come here and try to take 100 selfies posing near the books or sitting in the booth. It's obnoxious. We are a society obsessed with looking at our faces instead of looking inward ;) read more

Couldn't really taste much matcha and it just tasted a little too sweet for me. We came later in the afternoon, and closer to 5 pm it got really crowded as people started to line up for the wine bar. I love it here and would never leave if they'd let me. It was very easy to make a reservation - though as a solo traveler it wasn't clear if I could reserve for just 1. Once seated, I was so excited to just drink wine and eat cheese and be surrounded by books and book lovers. My friend and I popped in here since we were in the area the other day and wanted a quiet-ish place to sit and catch up. We got there around 4pm and the back area of the space closes at 4pm and then reopens at 5pm for dinner service. The space itself is lovely with a long bar when you first walk in, with many communal tables towards the front. The back has a whole library with books for sale and a more intimate seating arrangement (of which reservations are needed). We opted to get chai lattes and found a couple of seats towards the front. We then proceeded to stay as more room opened up and we ordered a couple of small plates, including the mezze and nosh boards and my friend got a glass of the Tempranillo, which she really enjoyed. Initially, I was interested in checking out this spot. It seems right up my alley, and I heard great things about it. When in New York to visit a close friend for her birthday, we decided to book at Bibliotheque for a unique and memorable post-party celebration. Unfortunately to say that the experience was disappointing would be an understatement. I have never have such terrible and disrespectful service in my life. We showed up to the reservation early, and decided to see if we could grab a drink at the bar. The hostess told us yes. When at the bar, we were not served, and ignored by bar staff, despite attempting to grab their attention numerous times. Only at the very end of our waiting time were we approached. When it came time to be seated, the waitress, Isabella, was rude, and whispered to the hostess, looking in our direction, before coming over to greet us. When giving us the menu, she did not answer or explain questions politely, but instead decided to give us an overview of their more, as she put it, "accessible" choices, as it was clear she assumed we were unable and unwilling to pay the prices she deemed to be far out of reach for people within our "demographic." We were assumed to be poor, on a trip to the Big City, but in reality were a group highly-educated, well paid professional adults, many of whom reside in Manhattan. However, due to the fact that we were dressed on theme for a birthday party we were treated with incredible disrespect. Throughout the reservation her responses to us were short, rude and unwelcoming. Only towards the end of our time there did s warm up, when she realized that we were not as she had initially judged us to be. Regardless of that, no patron, no matter their background or appearance should be treated like that, when they are paying for a service. As a seasoned service employee myself, I am absolutely appalled, and I will never return to this establishment. The whole experience was incredibly offensive and elitist, in a place that was the bar equivalent of a Hampton Inn trying to be the Ritz. There are many, many places in New York where I would rather spend my time and money. I would avoid this place if it is one you are looking to check it out. read more

Came here during a rainy day, and let me tell you, it was great. The combination of a rainy day with the 360 degree bookshelves really brought the whole cozy scene together. I came here to work for the first time and was happy to find outlets readily available at every table! The wifi was strong and the coffee was soooo good! I got the Neopolitan Cappuccino which had espresso at the bottom, I believe a milky latte in the middle (?), and strawberry foam on top! Very creamy and flavorful. It does get very busy during the morning and early afternoon, however there's usually plenty of seating available. I really liked the vibes here. There was a quiet bookshop in the back where people were working and a small area in the front where you could chat. We had the orange mocha and a latte and both were really good but I LOVED the orange mocha. I'm really still thinking about it!
