I love visiting Magic Shop on my travel. People are nice here and very friendly. Amazing magic collections and a Houdini's bathtub is especially amazing. If you are a magician or interested in performing magic, this is must to visit.

    So many different decks!

The store is located in the 6th floor so don't be discouraged when you don't see if from street level. It's an awesome store that everyone should definitely check out. The workers there are super friendly and will even throw out some magic for you while you're there. There are a ton of books on all sorts of magic and all sorts of props you can buy. Not to mention a huge wall of playing cards that you can purchase for your liking. I think they said they have little shows that go on every Wednesday after hours so that's a cool thing about them too. Check it out if you're even mildly into magic!!!

OMG my new favorite hidden spot in NYC!!!! I stopped in here for the first time to find a gift for my dad (an amateur magician). I ended up staying for over an hour - the two guys who were working demonstrated tons of tricks for me, answered all of my questions, tried to find tricks that were appropriate for my dad's skill level and interests and were SO patient with me! I couldn't decide what to get and they were super, super friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. They were very knowledgeable about all of the products and passionate about magic. They were also great at making conversation and I didn't feel like they were pushing me to buy a certain product or make a sale. They actually told me their favorite trick was one that was on the cheaper end, so I totally didn't feel like they were pushing more expensive items or anything like that. Out of the tricks that I was shown, prices ranged from $20 to $60. This is such a cool hidden spot (it's in a nondescript office building with no signage) and I can't wait to go back!!

Just some of the classics out on display

Stopped by here on our latest trip because my fiance knows I love magic and wanted me to indulge. And I'm so glad she added it to our schedule! Once you open the door, you're just hit by this magic secret den kind of feeling. The shelves are lined with magic artifacts from antique magic times. Not only that some are from famous magicians. If you're into magic you can definitely figure out who they belong to (I mean that mask definitely has to be Jeff McBride). When we stopped in there were just a few people, I assumed regulars or at least someone who is also into the hobby but able to contain themselves. They were just chatting away at some of the latest tricks to come out. One of the other patrons asked if the person behind the counter could demo one of the items he was thinking of buying. The magician behind the counter, Kevin, happily obliged. It was just one trick but he knew how to perform it perfectly. And then as my lady and I were taking all the spectacle of it all in, Kevin asked if we'd like to see a trick. Naturally we said yes and he did one for her and she's been talking about it since! It eventually got a little steady with a few people coming in. Some just stopping in. Others also in the hobby. My favorite thing about the store was how you could tell Kevin was passionate about magic. I couldn't help listening to another customer talk to him about certain magicians and tricks and the way Kevin responded was so knowledgeable and so excited. And then when I got to ask about certain items I was looking for he got out something that was an off shoot of the method I was looking for and performed it for me and I was floored and sold. The best part was he knew that I was also in the hobby after talking a bit and he knew what holes I would have poked in theorizing how the trick was done while he was doing it and while he was doing the trick he told me to do what I thought was a possible way to mess up the trick. Like I was afraid I would mess up the trick by shuffling a certain way and he was like 'go for it' and completely threw the cards around haphazardly and messily shuffled it and let me follow suit. It was so fair. I won't reveal what happened but it was beautiful to see that Kevin knew how to help me in a way only a person who is in the hobby would know. Reading low reviews, I don't think those reviewers understood this place. Maybe it's just a magician thing. All I know is that if you're into the hobby of sleight of hand magic, this is a stop you absolutely have to make the new time you're in New York. Oh and they have an awesome and intimate magic show they do a few times a week after the store has closed. That is an ABSOLUTE recommend!

Buying and Selling at Book Off What a cool store. So much to…read moresee. Unfortunately, it is lousy to sell at and expensive to buy at. First, Selling. I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.

These two characters; as well, as the actors played well off each other.  Seeing the behind the scenes would be a real treat.  Especially the sexual situations between them for the first time.  It was one of the funniest things that happened in the story. Hiromi Kawabe or Ms. Tsuchiya as I will be calling for the rest of this review,  has done a number of other voice acting jobs.  I will name a few of them.  EVA in "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" (VG) (Japanese)                 EVA in "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker" (VG) (Japanese)) Flint in "Monsters at Work" (animated series) (Japanese) Tsuchimugo in "Sakura Taisen 2: Kimi, Shinitamou koto Nakare" (VG) (Japanese) Maybe you have heard of some of these titles. It would seem that the name of Binetsu Shokogun or Slight Fever Syndrome  isn't on the list of Animation movies, but there are probably many I don't know about. It does seem to matter if the Animation is Adult Erotica or Regular Animation.    Voice Acting is Voice Acting.   Still I find porn whether it be Anime Porn with comedy or Adult Porn with comedy in it to be an unbeatable combination.    When comedy enters into porn, you are likely to get better porn acting...and yes, there are porn actors who can actually act. Ms. Tsuchiya's voice acting will have to be one I follow more closely. Ms. Tsuchiya aka Hiromi Kawabe has a nice voice.

Located right across from Bryant Park, it's almost impossible to walk by without going in. It's usually crowded, but that's part of its charm. The store has three levels, each worth exploring. The main floor features an impressive selection of books, including bestsellers and new releases right as you walk in. The lower level is where you'll find collectibles, specialty pens, beautiful notebooks and stationery, unique gifts, even more books, and plenty of cute items that will tempt you to spend more than you planned. The book selection is excellent, although I have to admit the prices can be a bit on the higher side. The staff are always friendly, and checkout is surprisingly quick, so don't let the long lines discourage you. One thing to note: drinks aren't allowed inside, so you'll need to leave them with security before entering. If you're visiting the area or spending time around Bryant Park, I highly recommend stopping by. Whether you're a book lover or just enjoy browsing, this bookstore is absolutely worth a visit.

I simply wanted to exchange the biography, which was clearly unread, for a different one that was actually more expensive. I was happy to pay the difference. I even had the physical receipt. Both were full-price books, not discounted items. The exchange was declined under their umbrella policy. I understand having a policy in place to protect publishers, but it would be clearer to simply state "All Sales Final on Printed Materials." Instead, the language references "copyrighted materials," which suggests there may be exceptions, when in practice there are not. I want to support a neighborhood brick and mortar music shop. But when selection is limited, flexibility is minimal, and communication is inconsistent, it becomes difficult to justify staying loyal. I am disappointed to say, that I will likely purchase my scores and books elsewhere going forward. At times, the store feels oriented more toward internal or institutional purchases than toward the musicians and readers who live in the neighborhood.

I walked into a store that is essentially one large room, and the density of product on display meant navigating it during a busy period required some patience, but the selection within that compact space was broader than the size suggested. The Korean literature section covers both Korean language and English language editions across a range of genres, which makes it genuinely useful for anyone studying the language or looking for titles that are difficult to find at general bookstores in the city. I saw children's books in Korean, well stocked. The K pop side of the store covers albums, photocards, posters, keychains, stickers, and merchandise across a wide range of artists, with BTS having a particularly strong presence historically alongside newer groups. Pricing runs higher than what I would pay ordering online or finding the same items at a larger retailer, which is the standard trade off for a specialty shop in Manhattan. Album prices in particular can be steep, though sale events bring them down to more competitive territory. Individual accessory items like stickers and bookmarks are priced at a premium relative to their size, so going in with a sense of what I am willing to spend helps avoid sticker shock at the register. The store is a reliable stop for anyone looking for Korean books or K pop merchandise in a physical retail setting in New York, with the caveat that the pricing and the crowd level are both factors worth knowing about before I go.

However; the reason why I'm writing this update is because there are some changes at the store. Firstly; the large "Information Desk" at the rear of the first floor is no longer there. Instead, there's a small one on the right side of that floor (and it's almost hidden). Secondly; the huge first floor display of beautiful photo books of NYC and environs is now much smaller (although it seemed like there were more of them on the lower level than previously). There's also another change; the restrooms are now only accessible with a code, and a code can only be obtained via a receipt - so if you don't buy anything, you can't use the restroom (I ordered some books online later, since I didn't want to lug them home from the store). Further; employees don't have access to a bathroom code (obviously they have some other way to access the restrooms). I was there for a few hours - and if it wasn't for the fact that I had a dental appointment nearby afterwards, it would have been problematic. Having said that, I do realize that the restroom situation is an issue; at the Union Square store in particular, there used to be a big problem with homeless people and undoubtedly a corporate decision was made. I'm still keeping a five-star rating because of the employees and because the store has a great selection.
