It tasted like a standard deli sandwich... I think the deli spots do it better. What a cute place I found to have some breakfast and waste time at. There is a Mud coffee truck that I see around town so when I saw that there was a sit down place I wanted to try it out. When you walk in there is a bar area that you are free to sit at to enjoy food and or coffee. When you walk towards the back there are some tables and chairs and that is where I sat. It was a bit on the darker side. I then realized there is another back part where it's alot lighter. I did not realize until I was done about this back space. They also have a small outdoor space in the front of the store. To eat I had their avocado toast. It was on Sourdough and I had onions on it. I was super hungry and ate the whole thing. It tasted like there may have been sea salt on it too.. but I could be wrong on that. The avocado tasted fresh and the eggs were good too! I had a friendly waitress who took my allergies into account. I would come back here and try out some other of their items off the menu. read more

MUD is like a warm hug. It's cozy and inviting and it's incredibly easy to stay more than a while. Coffee drinkers linger in the front with cute dogs and there's lots of tables to dine in from the back. With a vast menu of reasonable and delicious items, MUD is popular for a variety of reasons. At this point MUD is a New York establishment. It has a healthy hippie vibe and I love that. The cozy courtyard in the back is a perfect get away from bustling streets. Lots of breakfast foods to satisfy your cravings. And. They also have brunch combos if, like me, you like a set. I've tried a few things on the menu and not once was I disappointed. They have a set menu that comes out to twenty four dollars for everything, which makes ordering simple. I got the breakfast burrito with an orange juice. The burrito was pretty good, but it reminded me a bit of Chipotle, so I might try something different next time. What really stood out was the vibe. The interior design is beautiful and cozy, and the space feels welcoming. We also happened to sit near 2Hollis, which was a fun surprise and added to the experience. Today me and my gal went to MUD for breakfast. We entered the establishment and were told it was a fixed price of around 25 bucks for an entree, coffee, and mimosa. Surprised but not turned off we were seated. I took the chair facing the wall, as a gentlemen of course, but dealt with the larry david scenario of an uneven and wobbly chair. I overcame this. You are very much squeeeshed in there, so it isn't a super accessible place if that's a consideration for you. The staff was good. Present but not too present. Brunch deal was great. Terrific coffee. The French toast was oddly rubbery. It felt like it was made earlier in the morning and then just heated up. The French breakfast was fine but both the potatoes and the croissant sandwich lacked any seasoning and really just fell flat for me. I recently was in an Airbnb in Chelsea for 6 weeks. The Owner provided a package of Mudtrucker coffee in the refrigerator. Being from Cambridge MA I had never heard of Mud coffee and I was impressed. The Mudtrucker blend was rich, smooth and left no bitter aftertaste. When my Airbnb rental in Manhattan was over, I ordered 2 lbs. of the Mudtrucker beans. Unfortunately the coffee from the Mudtrucker beans is a huge disappointment. Dull and bitter. My guess is that the beans were old, or that the Mudtrucker blend had changed? MUD is an East Village staple. Always packed inside and a line for coffee. If you arrive before noon on weekends, you can get a table with little to no wait. There are also large tables outside which is a plus if you have a dog. We've been to MUD for brunch a couple times and the food is hit or miss. I was just moving in my stuff to my new apartment and hmmm my roommate and I came to check out the lunch here! We got in around 12:30ish on a weekend and although it was busy we were able to be seated at the bar within 10 mins. It was cute little restaurant but the bar seating is awkwardly placed and the double bench was not super sturdy. The waitstaff was very nice and running all over the place but we were able to get our orders in and our food out in about 20-30 mins. She really likes the coffee here, but I didn't try. I ordered the Mudmama salad with blackened chicken and she ordered the Burrito! My salad tasted really fresh and the bread was delicious! I'm only taking points off since my avocado came with the little pit indent in it, the chicken was a little dry and not super blackened and the dressing didn't seem like it went with the salad since it tasted more on the acidic side. Otherwise the chickpeas were really good! I probably would see if they had different dressing if I ordered this salad again but not a bad brunch spot! read more
