Maple Latte and Mudman Special
May H.

MUD is like a warm hug. It's cozy and inviting and it's incredibly easy to stay more than a while. Coffee drinkers linger in the front with cute dogs and there's lots of tables to dine in from the back. With a vast menu of reasonable and delicious items, MUD is popular for a variety of reasons. Really enjoyed their MUDMAN Sandwitch and their Maple Latte while people watching. Just wish they had WiFi!

What a cute place I found to have some breakfast and waste time at. There is a Mud coffee truck that I see around town so when I saw that there was a sit down place I wanted to try it out. When you walk in there is a bar area that you are free to sit at to enjoy food and or coffee. When you walk towards the back there are some tables and chairs and that is where I sat. It was a bit on the darker side. I then realized there is another back part where it's alot lighter. I did not realize until I was done about this back space. They also have a small outdoor space in the front of the store. To eat I had their avocado toast. It was on Sourdough and I had onions on it. I was super hungry and ate the whole thing. It tasted like there may have been sea salt on it too.. but I could be wrong on that. The avocado tasted fresh and the eggs were good too! I had a friendly waitress who took my allergies into account. I would come back here and try out some other of their items off the menu.

Wonderful, delicious and full of character. The most delicious Chai I've ever had! Service was absolutely wonderful and the amazing Claire is just the best! MUD is a perfect place to have a break while wandering through the delightful East Village.

MUD has a special place in my heart always! The chai latte is the best chai I've had anywhere. To be honest, it's the only place I will get a chai. The almond sourdough French toast was also amazing! The workers are always super sweet and cool. My favorite cafe.

At this point MUD is a New York establishment. It has a healthy hippie vibe and I love that. The cozy courtyard in the back is a perfect get away from bustling streets. Lots of breakfast foods to satisfy your cravings. And. They also have brunch combos if, like me, you like a set. I've tried a few things on the menu and not once was I disappointed. I would say some of their waiters are just floating around. There's no rush so don't expect top notch service. It's a place to just come and chill.

Mud is a great little breakfast spot with a lot of charm. We waited about ten to fifteen minutes to get in, which felt reasonable. They have a set menu that comes out to twenty four dollars for everything, which makes ordering simple. I got the breakfast burrito with an orange juice. The burrito was pretty good, but it reminded me a bit of Chipotle, so I might try something different next time. What really stood out was the vibe. The interior design is beautiful and cozy, and the space feels welcoming. We also happened to sit near 2Hollis, which was a fun surprise and added to the experience. Service was really good from start to finish. Overall a solid spot that I would come back to, especially for the atmosphere.

Vibes are good here. The service is stellar and the food is delicious. Portions are big and the drinks taste yummy. Recommend for a snazzy brunch.

Lots of mixed reviews here but I thought it was excellent. I'd describe the vibe inside as hippy meets enchanted forest. Super cute, more seating in the back area. Staff were all very friendly upon entering and we were seated right away on a Thursday at 10am. I got the BAT sandwich, added eggs to make it more breakfasty. Highly recommend. I asked for extra garlic mayo on the side. The home fries were tasty too. The maple latte was SO yummy. I'll definitely be back.

Chai that tastes splendid. Tickled my tonsils with its exquisite cinnamon flavor. YOWZAH!

Ah-freaking-maziiiiing. Holy hecking smokes. The chai is simply otherworldly.. Great back area with brick walls and a nice ambience. Different repurposed materials used as windows to give elaborate lighting scheme. YAS

Absolutely delicious breakfast. Very different but cozy ambiance. Very kind and attentive service but also distant enough not to be annoying. Really enjoyed myself. Sipped the chai latte too quick before grabbing a photo. It was sooooooo good!!! And the Huevos Rancheros reminded me of Costa Rica. That says a lot.

I love this brunch place so so much. The French toast is my absolute favorite. The coffee is also very good. I love taking my friends here Came at 11:30am on a Saturday and there was no wait for two people. It was delicious. Friendly staff! Brunch preset. Comes with a beverage of choice (coffee, mimosa, orange juice).

Just went for a latte. Very nice service and ambience. Very cozy cabin vibes. Large food menu. Good for breakfast lunch and dinner

A cramped hole in the wall. Food was good. We got the French toast and seasonal corn chowder. Wait staff not very friendly. Chairs/bench's so uncomfortable. Also, no soda. Boo. I had a mint lemonade. Super sour.

The mulled wine is awesome

Ask the Community - MUD

Do I need reservation?

No, but then again I went at 8:30 AM on a weekday.

Do they have side street outdoor dining?

They do have outdoor dining, yes.

So they don't take reservations?

No but the wait is tolerable if you don't go during high brunch. Toughen up: Plenty of places in the city that take reservations with zero vibe!

Is there wifi?

Nope !

Do the have bottomless mimosas?

No (and that kind of thing would usually be listed on the menu) but there're plenty of places throughout the city that do!

Would MUD be good for a group of 7 on a weekday?

I personally think it's fine. However you might want to make a reservation just in case. Just want to mention that MUD is a little bit of a small/narrow place, so it might be a tight fit. It's also dimly lit, so if you're looking for conversation… Read more

Is there a dj? If so, what kind of music?

there's not a dj

Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by the manager and other staff to make sure I was all settled for my party, which I really appreciated. This space has a partnership with a pizza place up the street to order food but also provides flexibility to bring in your own food which a lot of places do not allow. They also allowed me to bring balloons and cake which many places also don't allow. I had around 40 people and there was plenty of space to sit down or stand. It wasn't too loud so I was able to have a conversation with friends while also enjoying the music. The music was great and we even stayed afterwards to enjoy the DJ and the vibes were still strong. If you're looking for a private space, this is the perfect spot for your party! My friends are still talking about how cool this space was and were very impressed!

After opening a number of successful bars in New York City, including Death & Company and Cienfuegos, DeRossi decided to open a new bar with a focus on rare, new, and unusual craft beer offerings. Originally opening in the St. Marks section of the East Village, Proletariat quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best craft beer bars in NYC. In June 2022, Proletariat moved to a new, larger space just two blocks away on East 7th Street. In addition to the excellent beer selection, the new location also features a kitchen that offers an array of plant-based dining options. I recently visited Proletariat while I was in the Village to see a concert. I arrived a few hours before the show so I could grab some beers and bites beforehand. Proletariat has been on my NYC craft beer bucket list for a while; they have an excellent reputation. There were maybe four other customers there when I arrived; I felt like I was entering a secret craft beer club. I really liked the wolf featured on the bar's logo. It was clearly a reference to the Latin botanical term for hops: "humulus lupulus", which roughly translates as "the little wolf that comes from the Earth". There were 20 impressive beers on draught during my visit. I decided to order a pour of The Drowned Lands Brewery's "Winnow" (Festbier). It was an excellent example of the style: light and malty. Afterwards, I went with a pour of Sante Adairius Rustic Ales' "The Sky and the Sea" (Blueberry Saison). This was a fantastic beer: nice and tart with delicious notes of blueberries. If you're looking for some great craft beer bars in NYC then add Proletariat to your list!
