After checking out Strand Books, it made me want to slow down and just enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Luckily Outro was right across the street. Walking inside it's very spacious with many tables and counter space to sit down from, and even outdoor seating if that's up to your fancy. I didn't really get anything other than a latte because I just wanted something warm to drink since it was a bit chilly in the morning. The latte came out fast and even better, it came with latte art that you could make an instagram post for. The mocha latte was delicious, I don't really have much complaints as the cafe was very inviting with it's jazz music playing and friendly workers just making some great coffee. Unfortunately after drinking the coffee I was back out to make my way downtown. I'd come back for more to try out the food/coffee! This place rocks!
Incredible little spot I stumbled into! The barista was super nice and calm. The low lighting in the space was perfect for the rainy day I was experiencing. And the matcha? Wow. They definitely use a ceremonial grade and I appreciate when a matcha, a good matcha, isn't sweetened because I love the taste. The toast I ordered was also good and I love how thick but light it was. I hope to come back here when I'm in NYC again!
Solid specialty lattes located near Union Square. I keep coming here because it's near transit and people I know. I do love my lavender lattes and I also like their matcha rose latte, although it needed a lot of mixing on my part. The storefront is slightly nondescript and it could be easy to miss. Service is ambivalent. There's sandwiches and a variety of sweet lattes and flavored beverages. Lots of seating where people do work and chat.
A nice café to relax in Union Square. The latte was good & the coffee was strong. We also tried to order the eggs Benedict, but for some reason, they were not able to make it for us because it was a weekday. The breakfast sandwich was decent but a little bit too salty and oily for our liking. Only con was that their WiFi was not functional.
I was pleasantly surprised at how big Outro's menu was and how big the location was! The lavender latte had a prominent authentic lavender flavors without overpowering the coffee. It has a slight spice to it that added to the flavors. The taro foam cold brew was also tasty! The taro cream had a nice sweet flavor that paired well with the cold brew, but I did hear from staff that they use taro powder to whip up the cream. I do want to go back to check out their matcha and their snacks/food options! In terms of seating, there is a cute little nook in the front with lots of sun light, middle section with lots of tables, and outdoor area with benches and tables. Best part is that they allow laptops, even on weekends!! I can see myself getting some work done or catching up with a friend here!
We stopped in to escape the snow and it was such a delightful surprise! This cafe has so much space and seating. When the weather is nice there's also outdoor seating. I just got a drink but they also sell a wide variety of food as well. You can order from your table and they'll bring your food and drinks to you. Just a short walk away from Strand Bookstore!

There is a lot of seating in the back (can get a bit dim) but if the weather is nice there is a nice little outdoor patio section as well. Overall been here twice on Friday mornings and there was no issue with seating. There is wifi here but they request that laptops are only in use during the weekdays. There is also a bathroom that is decorated with graffiti. Each table has a QR code so you can seamlessly order anything (you can also order at the counter and the baristas are kind enough to bring it to your table). I got a strawberry matcha both of the times I visited and was a fan. The strawberry flavoring is strong and brings a sweet contrast to the mild bitter taste of matcha. They also put dried strawberries in your drink. The barista nearly decorated each drink. Once they made an error in my order (I got a plain matcha latte instead) they corrected and I gladly enjoyed two drink, which was nice of them. I am also a big fan of their pumpkin spice bread, nice to eat alongside the drink. Overall, great remote work spot during the weekdays with plenty of seating.
Me and my daughter came here looking to get a breakfast egg sandwich from somewhere clean This place has pasta. YES, PASTA. I've never heard of a small cafe having pasta. My daughter found this place online and we went straight here. We have seafood allergies and we asked them if they can have the cooks wash their hands and change their gloves and they said no problem! Food smells good and looks good. Would definitely come here again
I came in here today for a respite from the snow, and am so glad I did! Their strawberry latte looked too interesting not to try, and sure enough it was fantastic. No chocolate or anything, just tart strawberry syrup perfectly blended with the smooth milk foam and espresso, and some adorable latte art with freeze dried strawberries on top. I loved it and am already craving another one!! The service was super quick and efficient since you can scan a QR code to place your order, and my drink was ready at the counter almost instantly. Inside it was packed with college students busy on their laptops, they've got some nice music playing and a lot of healthy houseplants brightening up this cozy and warm space. I will totally stop by again the next time I'm in the area!
Came on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We sat outdoors in their back patio since all the inside seats were taken. You order up front and they give you a buzzer for when it's ready to pick up. Food was just okay, don't expect any cheffed up brunch food. - Breakfast Sandwich ($11): ham, cheese, scrambled egg, and spicy aioli on brioche. Simple if that's what you prefer, nothing to write home about - Maple Bacon & Egg Waffles ($19): expensive for what it is, like a store bought waffle and 1 piece of bacon and egg. Only positive thing was the maple cream instead of the traditional syrup. I did see more people come here to chit chat like we did, than do work, so if you're looking for a quiet cafe this might not be it or go at an off time.

I thought it was more of a restaurant but when I got there it was more like a coffee shop. They have many seating options in the front of the shop and in the back. There is a wonderful outdoor area with plenty of seating too. It is very relaxing out there. I got the avocado smash as It looked good on the internet. When I got it, the presentation was nice. The egg was on the side which was fine. There were pumpkin seeds on top of it which I didn't know before hand or I would have asked them not to put them on and there were also I believe chilly flakes and a type of cheese I am not too fond of and also there was a drizzle of vinegar I believe under the avocado toast. But I guess I should have asked or read what comes with it before ordering so it was my issue. I did not get any drinks here but the coffee and specialty drinks looked very interesting and good. So if I am in the area again and am able to stop in I may need to try one of their drinks and or a coffee. Staff were nice and took my allergies seriously.

Had breakfast here while visiting last week. I ordered the mushroom toast which comes with ricotta cheese and a poached egg. It was sooooo good. I also got their seasonal matcha beverage which was a strawberry matcha. Again, no notes. It was delicious. The cafe is quaint and has a good patio space in the back. The seating was comfortable, but it would feel cramped if every table was full. The restroom was clean, but there was a lot offensive graffiti on the walls. I would not have felt comfortable taking my children to the restroom there. read more
Honestly a hidden gem in the area, from the outside you wouldn't think there's so much seating inside. There's a lovely outside space with plenty of tables, though the outdoor seating doesn't have any outlets. A good vibe to read, study, work, or catch up with friends. You have the option of ordering at the counter or via QR code at each of the tables. I tried the strawberry matcha latte which came out to nearly $10 with the non-dairy milk as well as "ice" upcharge. The strawberry was a pleasant surprise as there were actual pieces of strawberry infused into the milk as opposed to an artificial syrup. There's also a extensive food/bakery menu so you really could spend a while here. The wifi from the shop didn't work while I was there but there were other public wifi networks that were accessible! read more

We've been going to Ariston in the morning, but this is just around the corner from us and thought we'd give it a try. Picked a strawberry banana smoothie and it was really good. Not to thick but they give you a nice big fat straw anyway. Hubby enjoyed a flat white to go with his Farmers Sandwich. I got an avocado toast. At first glance my toast is really thick. It turned out to soft, but firm. The smash had a subtle lemon flavor and a nice consistency. I can't comment on my husband's sandwich. He ate it all so that's a positive. Overall a breakfast for 2 cost us just under $50. They do make full service breakfast plates if you don't want breakfast sandwiches. There is a pretty little courtyard with seating available. Plenty of spots inside. It does get really loud in there. Doesn't take much for the volume to escalate . read more
Rose Latte $6.5 [Rating: 4.5/5] I'm a huge rose latte fan and this is perfect! Even with double espresso, you can taste the subtle, beautiful floral notes from the rose, and it's not sweet at all! Strawberry Tiramisu Waffle $17 [Rating: 4/5] Freshly made crispy waffle base, topped with vanilla ice cream, mascarpone cream and strawberries. Menu said strawberry ice cream but I got vanilla! It's a good waffle, just tab bit on the pricy side. - - - - - - - - - - Will I be back? Cute coffee shop! This seems like a good work from home space because they allow computers, have wifi and outlets, and have a lot of tables (both indoors and outdoors). For coffee, I got the Taro Outro Coldbrew: - Taro Coldbrew (7.7/10): Really solid drink! It's basically a purple whipped taro cold foam on top of cold brew. If you love taro then you wil like this. It's not too sweet because the taro cold foam on top mixes into the bitter coffee. read more

Cute cafe perfect for working, coffee and lunch, latte with a friend.... it's just good for it all. First of all, it's a big space! They have lots of tables, little nooks to get a bit of privacy, even a back patio. If it was even a little warmer out, I would have loved to snag a seat out there. The wifi sign was right at the counter, which I love as a chronic cafe WFHer. Vibes are great all around. Order at the counter, grab a seat, and they'll bring everything over your way. I got a hot latte, which came out beautifully, and a toasted slice of banana bread. Perfect afternoon pick me up. They had a pretty great looking lunch menu, so I definitely want to return to check that out on a future visit. But, for now, I fully vouch for the coffee, cute & cozy vibes, and banana bread. read more

I was in search of a quick brunch spot and discovered such a cute cozy cafe in the process. There is a great selection of signature lattes such as lavender and matcha rose which I ended up ordering the matcha rose and then the lavender to go. No regrets. Both drinks were tasty as they were beautiful. For breakfast I opted for the breakfast sandwich with ham soft scrambled eggs a spicy aioli and cheese on a brioche bun. A great choice for under $15 followed by a side of potatoes for $5. Overall this is an affordable cozy spot near Union that I would come back to. read more

Great cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a large menu! Absolutely loved the patio area which is perfect for warmer weather but the wifi did not work for me. Inside is slightly darker with no natural lighting and the music is quite loud. I ordered the rose latte which was good but I wish it had more of a rose flavour. One of my new favourite study spots! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was a super rainy day, the inside was packed. We ordered at the counter and then looked around for a table. It seemed as though many were hanging around after eating or drinking coffee, so many of the tables were packed, so we had to head outside where they also had a few tables with a covering above the perimeter. As for the bathrooms, there were people not dining at the establishment but waiting on line. The girl in front of us told us they would hold the door open for us because the bathroom had a passcode, but we let her know we were eating there and we knew the code. We ordered the Brekkie plate, chicken quesadilla, a strawberry banana smoothie and a strawberry fizzy. The food itself was good and tasted fresh, the strawberry fizzy drink was good but it's very sweet. Overall it was an alright experience! read more

Cute place! Good coffee and one friend ordered an interesting matcha coffee. I got the greenwich sandwich which I thought was good but maybe missing a little something? A friend said the bacon egg and cheese was good but a little small, and another got pancakes. Pancakes were pretty good - had a nice garnish coming with yogurt and a glaze and berries. I got the ube latte here, which was better than other ube drinks I've had, since I could actually taste the ube! My friend had the matcha though, which he thought was too watery. It was a good, spacious cafe to do work though! read more
Iced matcha latte is pretty good. Lot of seating inside but it's underground and a little dark. Otherwise feels like a cool student cafe by NYU. Sandwiches and menu look good but expensive. Brekkie items like bacon egg cheese, avocado toast sound good. May try another time. read more

There is wifi and a bathroom, so it's a great place for studying. I had a matcha coffee - an interesting blend of bitter cold brew topped with a sweet, homemade matcha cream. My coffee came out super fast, and the staff were very friendly. I have also gotten an iced latte, which I like better than the matcha coffee. The latte is rich and creamy. There are also a lot of brunch items you can order that looked delicious. read more

Visited Outro and had the smoked salmon omelette and the unagi breakfast special. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. The service was decent, and the casual ambiance made for a relaxed meal. Great spot for a laid-back breakfast or brunch! read more

Do they have heat lamps?
There are overhead heat lamps over some of the tables along the wall in the backyard. It's decently warm in the backyard anyway though because of the tall buildings that enclose it and block wind chill.
