Hot chocolate
Michele S.

Best hot chocolate I have ever had!! Absolutely delicious. Very chocolatey, creamy and had choice of milkshake. I chose oat milk. Next time I'm in the city I'll definitely be back for another cup! The ambiance was chill, coffee shopish with wifi. Small, quaint. Female owned! Service was immediate and friendly. 5 hot chocolate! Served in a real mug since stayed to enjoy it.

Deliciousssssss espresso. The man who was running the cafe was so sweet and helpful with touristy questions. He let us all use the restroom.

Came by for a quick coffee and got an iced americano which was great for an afternoon pick-me-up! There's also a restroom which is amazing in East Village. This little cafe also has outlets and enough tables to stay and work for a bit.

I've come to think of the Coppola Cafe as "my place". Right across the street, always cozy, often some beautiful Italian to be heard spoken by the family that runs the place, as well as some Italian popular music to which I've been delighted to be introduced. Out the front windows, I see tree-lined Jones Street and my apartment building, and people always strolling by. There's a regular group of folks that can often be found at the lone communal table, chatting happily away. The remodeling they did a while back eliminated some of the window-seating, and I'm still a bit sad about that, but it hasn't really hurt my ability to find a seat most of the time. I love coming here, either to get a bit of work done or just to chill and enjoy the atmosphere. This is such a special little gem, and my favorite coffee shop over all others in the Village.

Needed a place to knock out some work before a meeting--this place is fantastic. The owners are very friendly and set the tone for an amazing vibe. The energy is great, with just the right amount of noise to make you feel the neighborhood. I had a lot to get done, and the WiFi was solid. Oh yeah, the vibe is great, but you probably don't want to take a call from here. And the coffee? TOP NOTCH. The pistachio croissant was tasty too. Thanks for the good time!

had a pretty filling turkey and cheese croissant from this cafe! had no idea there was an egg inside, which was a fun surprise. at $9.50, it did seem to be a bit pricey and I'm not sure how fresh they are. the water was offered to me by the owners, which was nice of them! the cafe is pretty small, but they do have wifi and outdoor seating.

Cute vibes, coffee is decent. There are people working on laptops, reading, or casually chatting with friends. Came here with a friend and ordered: Barista: 5/5 Friendly staff Hazelnut Latte with oat milk. 3.5/5 Coffee was decent but it tasted nothing like hazelnut. Just a latte with oat milk. Iced hazelnut cold brew with oat milk. 5/5

Came in for a place to get some work done - they've got a few tables outside, but Wi-Fi connection isn't strong out there. A few high tops inside - but did not find any outlets. Got an iced chai latte - that was pretty good. Maybe not the best long term working spot!

I just received a moldy sandwich. There was also a pink splotch which I noticed too late. Hope I don't get sick :(

Owner responding to a review

Visited this spot last weekend because I like supporting small businesses, but was not pleased by the unprofessional, misbehaved, and blatantly rude staff. I checked Google reviews and was appalled to find the owner mocks patrons in person and online! Anyhow, here's the tea yal... It was one of those hot NYC summer days so of course I was tired when I walked in. I took a long time to decide what to order and when I finally did, the person behind the counter responded to my request rudely. I then asked if they had a bathroom and the man literally scoffs like he had never heard of someone who asked that question. He said the bathroom wasn't allowed for customers like me, which also came off as racist? I understand if you have a bathroom policy, but there's no need to be nasty when you tell the customer. I got my pastry and quickly left to get a real lunch at a nearby establishment (Down the Hatch)--highly recommend over this spot! I work remote and have visited cafes all over Manhattan, but never have I come across a cafe staff so rude. I don't recommend coming to this cafe due to the attitude of the owner and their employees. There's at least 5 other better cafes within a 10 minute walk :)

The establishment pleased us with its cozy atmosphere, pleasant service and delicious pastries. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the not very tasty coffee. Maybe it's worth working on the quality of the drink.

Croissant
Chrissy L.

I wholeheartedly love this little cafe. Sometimes, a cafe in NYC can have it all - a restroom for customers, strong wifi, and ample seating. The interior and exterior is dotted with little tables to accommodate a decent number of customers. The staff is so incredibly friendly and attentive. Usually in cafes, the most staff interaction begins and ends at the counter. Here, they warmly tell you to sit, they check if you need refills, and they're happy to let you stay as long as you need. Their iced espresso was nutty and strong. And their croissant was absolutely delicious - dusted with powdered sugar, flaky and crispy from top to bottom, and with a layer of custard on the inside. I inhaled mine immediately. My only issue was the number of flies inside the cafe. They buzzed around over the tables and were overall bothersome while I was trying to sit peacefully inside. Although with all things considered, maybe the staff was merely trying to accommodate these pesky little guests as well.

It's rare to find a place that balances a stunning, high-design space with such warm, attentive service. We explored more of the menu this time, and everything was just as impressive. The oysters were incredibly fresh, clean, briny, and perfectly served. Another standout that I'll definitely be ordering again. Between the atmosphere, the consistency of the food (super yummy), and the thoughtful team, Conwell Hall is quickly becoming one of those places you keep coming back to.

They have sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, potatoes, bakery options, etc. it seems that they are more of a coffee shop, so there were plenty of coffee and tea options. The homefries were really good, just a little oily and not as crispy as I would've liked. The restaurant makes their own jam, which seemed to be dragon fruit, and it was tasty but i don't think it went well with my sandwich. My friend gave her French toast a 7.5.

We tried the melon shaved ice $22 for the large which was a bit pricy but it was quite delicious. We were worried that the large might be too much for two people but honestly we were able to finish it without a problem. The melon pieces were sweet, the ice is milk based so it was creamy and flavorful on its own. We barely used the condensed milk that it came with (and we loved how they put it on the side for us instead). At the bottom of the shaved ice was cereal pieces and mochi which gave a nice different texture. We also tried their drinks specifically their blue lemonade and mango-ade which I thought was just ok. The highlight is definitely their shaved ice. Definitely go for the large as the small seemed much smaller and for double the price, you can get almost 2-3x more. Overall: it's a great place to grab a shaved ice and relax . The atmosphere is chill and you can stay without feeling rushed.

I loved seeing the plants along with hints of pink, orange, and yellow throughout the art and furniture. It's a gorgeous space. Service was good, nothing much to mention. For food, we ordered the royal chai, mango lassi, breakfast kathi-rito, and the condensed milk bun. The standouts were the royal chai and the breakfast kathi-rito. The royal chai was creamy, salty, perfect sweet, and silky. It had notes of cinnamon and saffron, paired with sea salt. I loved this drink. The breakfast kathi-rito was tasty. I loved the potatoes, cheese, egg, avocado, and whatever else was in it. The sauce on the side was delicious. Not exactly sure what it was but it was sweet with a kick. The mango lassi did not have enough mango flavor for me, I couldn't justify paying $10 for it. The condensed milk bun was good but it was similar to any other sweet bun in an asian bakery. I'd pass on both of these. Overall, I'd highly recommend checking out Fontainhas. It'd be a perfect spot to check out if you're in the area for the Brooklyn Flea, or just Dumbo.

This was on display and it was marked as vegan which made it sound very enticing. Unfortunately it was a miss for me. The icing was overly sugary which gave it an almost cloyingly sweet taste and a crisp top. The cake was dry and lacked a strong mango flavor. I would have liked it more if there was a different frosting that was creamier and less sweet and if there was a layer of jam in the middle to keep the cake moist. - mango smoothie (10/10): mango blended with coconut yogurt and vanilla pea protein. This was phenomenal and i am surprised it was not as popular as it should be considering it has protein and probiotics. The texture is thick and creamy, but the tartness from the mango and yogurt make it still feel light. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! It is a nice hangout spot with a decent menu of drinks and food.
