This is BEFORE I took a sip....

You are in NYC and so many cool places all around. This place ain't it. And they short pour. See pic.

Solid service for Breakfast. Steak was over charred. Everything else was good. Seating available inside and outside.

One sea scallop somehow sliced into 5 tiny slivers....but presented well on the plate.

We went here because they advertised an Xmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes and it was anything but. There were 7 choices but you only got to a (like one per person) crouton with some crab dip, a tiny app and a tiny entree. My daughter's scallop appetizer was one sea scallop sliced into 5 slivers and my oyster app was two of the smallest oysters I've ever seen. I ordered the Bronzini which was about 3 ounces and completely dry. I sent it back (I think the first time I've ever sent something back in my life) and got the linguini clam drenched in lemon juice which sucked but was at least edible. Then they tried to charge for 3 complete meals. The server was nice but the service was terrible. He poured the first glass of wine, we poured the rest. We had to steal silverware from another table when our food came and the whole think was really a cluster F, This was a huge mistake...

Food here was alright but nothing truly special especially for the price. We came here for dinner. Biggest surprise was the menu we received was about half of what's listed on the website which was a bummer (ex: Mushroom Terrene wasn't available for us to order) but this could be chalked up to the fact it was Thanksgiving day. Items we ordered as of 11/2023: - Gnocchi - Cooked well but the portion size was pretty small especially for the price we paid (it's not listed on the online menu but we think it was over $20). - Café Burger - $26 - Pricey burger but came with a lot of fries. Wasn't a huge fan of the peppercorn aioli unfortunately (reminded me of a thick aus ju). I'd recommend asking them to hold off on the sauce or have it on the side). - Classic Caesar - $18 - This was good. Well dressed and good size. Didn't really taste the anchovy in the croutons though. - Sorbet - $8 - Mango sorbet was good as was the strawberry (really can taste the fruit). Good palate cleanser! - House cookies - $8 - Disappointing as it was 3 small cookies and they were on the harder side. Didn't seem to be freshly made (to me anyways). Overall it was okay. Prices are typical for hotel food.

IMPECCABLE vibes. Gives '80s speakeasy, lana del rey, mysterious girl core. Creme brulee was disappointingly sweet, but the creme itself was rich and had a subtle orange zest flavor. 6.5/10

Walked in here based on a recommendation for brunch and this place did NOT disappoint.. First of all, the Service was top notch, super polite and kind, everyone was really sweet Ordered an Americano with Steamed Half-n-Half and Omelette with Herbs and Toast.. The Coffee was FANTASTIC and the Omelette was very tasty. The fries that came with the omelette were top notch, super delicious and even the toast had such a nice flavor to it... DEFINITELY coming back here again !!

It was busy when we arrived at noon for Thanksgiving. It took a while for the staff to figure out if there were any Thanksgiving specials. They actually never figured it out, so we could not order it. The chicken liver appetizer was beautifully decorated, but tasted musty. The toast sticks were very oily. The burger was good except there was way too many raw onions. It gave my husband heart burn, which he has never really gotten before. Salad pieces were too big, barely cut. It was hard to use a knife in the bowl it came in. It took 20 mins to order. Our food came in 30 mins. After 45 mins of eating did anyone come check on us. By that time there was only one other table and no one at the bar, so they were not busy at all. I had to walk up to the bar and get my own napkins. The staff was just talking by the bar. No one came to ask us if we needed any more water until we wanted the check. The ambiance was great. Food: 3 star. Service: 2 star. Ambiance: 4 star. Not sure how the hotel basement WC is accessible for handicap patrons.

Visited this place last weekend and unfortunately wasn't blown away. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because of the cool outdoor seating and atmosphere. It's peaceful in the middle of a busy area. Otherwise, I would have given 2 stars. Drinks were overpriced for what they are, chicken poppers fried breading fell off of each piece of chicken, boo. Our server was actually quite unpleasant. When we said we might order more than 1 drink and an appetizer she seemed frustrated. I'm sorry but having worked in the restaurant business, I never turned a table away, nor their money. If they wanted something, they got it. Nope, not here. We finished our cocktail and appetizer and went our way. The server made us feel rushed and unwelcome as soon as we sat down. Funny enough when we left there were at least 4 tables still sitting outside. Guess you coulda made more money honey, but it's okay because you didn't want it so we took our money elsewhere. If I was staying at the hotel, I would venture out to other places but for a nice afternoon cocktail I would take it outside and enjoy that patio once more. Cheers & Enjoy!

Such a cute spot. Really enjoyed the ambience and food. It took a little while to get our food but that was ok there were seats available at the bar on Sunday morning and I'm so glad we snagged them!

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations! We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the "Holiday Magic". After a long day of travel, we just needed something good. We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations. We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard. If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

As for food, there were some true hits but most of the food was good but basic. The highlights for me were the wild mushrooms & rice cakes as well as the Caesar salad - loved the use of nori in the salad and would definitely come back for the mushrooms. The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.

Not surprising, then, that it was pretty packed by the time we finished dinner, at 10:30ish. Serptentine has a solid cocktail list, one that definitely reflects the West Village sensibility. The drinks are all clear variations of classics (ie., martini, negroni, espresso martini, margarita, old fashioned, etc.) but with some added intrigue. All well-executed and made efficiently, which is very impressive during weekend primetime. If you're not nearby I wouldn't make a trip to the area just for Serpentine, but it's a fantastic option if you live/work in the neighborhood and/or are getting a meal in the area and are looking for a bar to start or end at. As I mentioned, it was relatively busy when we arrived here. There weren't any open seats initially but the host said we could hang around the bar for a bit, as he expected a table to open soon. It was probably 10 minutes before we were sat which is basically like being sat immediately in New York time. And generally, the staff here were great -- very personable and accommodating, quick service, only praise in that area. The vibes here are cozy but lively, giving more of a friend hangout than a date (it's also relatively loud so not ideal for conversation if you're sitting across from someone at a table, versus standing and mingling or sitting on bar stools). If you're a dirty martini person you are in luck here, because the Serpentini (grey goose vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine, pepperocini liqueur) is unlike any other. And I get dirty martinis pretty much everywhere I go, so that's saying something. Why is it so unique, you may ask? Well, the pepperocini liqueur is a nice touch and props to whoever decided it was necessary to make such a thing. But the real game changer is the sidecar. You may be thinking -- how is a sidecar unique? Well, it's not just any sidecar...it is not filled with more martini but simply PURE FILTHY BRINE. I mean, if you're ordering a dirty martini, you probably would take a bath in olive brine, brush your teeth with olive brine -- hell, maybe even your contact solution is just olive brine. Want to make your martini dirtier as you drink it? Serpentine has you covered. It is so simple and obvious yet I've never experienced it before. And, because I've never met someone who loves dirty martinis who doesn't also drool over blue cheese-stuff olives, the Serpentini's got that too. Though less exciting and groundbreaking, Mezcal Negroni (ilegal mezcal, campari, averna amaro, lo-fi gentian amaro) is also solid. I love a mezcal negroni and this one is relatively straightforward, just a subtle variation with a few different amaros to add some complexity and herbal notes. A fun and versatile neighborhood spot. It's in prime location so I imagine to rent is absurd, so fingers crossed that it sticks around!
