Came into Alison with my friend on a whim During happy hour. Absolutely did not disappoint, the place is definitely a great bang for you buck spot. The chicken and lamb slider were succulent and tasty, however the fries with Cilantro aoli was next level fire. Huge shout out to Vincent who was incredible friendly and made the best rose spritz I've ever had. Highly recommend for good drinks, eats and vibes

Burger way undercooked, and we asked twice for shrimp in a bowl and were brought two bowls without shrimp.

Great experience overall with Alison! The service was good and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the oysters, wings, steak, and chicken, and everything came out tasting great and well prepared. The food and service definitely made for an enjoyable visit. I'd come back again.

This is the new restaurant that opened where David's Café used to be. I decided after reviewing the menu to take a chance and try it for brunch today. The inside seating and ambiance is similar to David's - not too much has changed. Outside seating received an upgrade. The waitress asked if she could get me a beverage to start, I asked about decaf espresso but they didn't have it. I asked about their Chai latte and she said they were out of it. I then asked for a regular latte with almond milk, she apologize and said they only have oat milk. So no beverages for me today except water. I looked over menu and went with the French Omelette with brie, chives and toast for $16 which was a great deal. The food was flavorful and hearty but I ended up taking half in a to-go box. I will come back for a glass of wine and to try the salmon burger. There's a wide variety of options for Sunday brunch so if you're looking for a cute, cozy spot in the East Village, I recommend checking Alison out for brunch. Come solo, with a date or with friends. Looking forward to your reviews!

Sad that David's Cafe closed but Alison is a decent replacement. The menu is eclectic but every dish I've tried has been a delight. Particularly enjoyed the crispy sushi rice, salad, and their rigatoni a la vodka. Service is great, always friendly. The interior is cozy and there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy St Marks in the warmer months.

This is a cozy little NYC local feeling spot in the East Village. They only have wine/beer/apertif cocktails, but there are good cocktail options, like coca-cola and vermouth which is one of my favorites. It has a wooden interior and a bar! I'd say it's perfect for a Sunday night/weeknight dinner to catch up with someone 1:1. Their oysters were so good and the menu had a lot of variety. You have to get the vodka rigatoni, sooo good. The crowd was a bit on the younger side, but it's probably just because it was 9 pm on a Saturday night!

The…read morepull apart truffle monkey bread was our initial reason for coming, and although the price point was quite steep, I would say it's worth the try. The bread was fluffy and not dry, which I had seen previous reviews say before. Paired with the creamy truffle butter, it had a luxurious mouthfeel. My favorite was the pork chop (cognac, sweet prunes, bacon, rosemary) -- the sweet and soft texture of the prune was melted in my mouth like fat, and the pork was tender, with the rosemary also coming through. The vodka rigatoni was a skip, somewhat bland and one-note, we ended up putting some of the truffle butter and garlic aioli from the fries to make it more flavorful. This was especially in contrast with the spicy shrimp pasta which was much tastier. Also got the strawberry vacherin (strawberry ice cream, meringue, vanilla whipped cream), it was my first time having this dessert. The tartness of the strawberry was great with the fluffy meringue and the sweet ice cream. Service was extremely attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated with moody lighting. Although the space was packed, it didn't feel too loud or crowded. We spent about two hours and didn't feel rushed.

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

Did an earlier dinner on a Saturday with a friend at the bar. We got some similar items, some different. The thing I kept the same was my martinis and all three (sour cream and onion, tomato, and espresso) were just as amazing as ever. Food-wise, I stuck mainly to the classics with one new dish: - Pizza rolls: Very good but 3 pizza rolls for $20 felt small to me. I feel like I remember seeing others served more when I've gone in the past, but not completely sure. They're nostalgic and fun, nothing to die for. - Fries: Great as ever, we opted for just one of the sauces (avocado dill). - French Dip: This used to be cut in 3 pieces and now it's 2. Works well with a duo but I do think it's actually a little smaller now than before when I compare photos. - Samoa sundae: Still amazing, still so so worth. It was fun going with a friend who hadn't been before and seeing the joy upon trying the dish! Bar service is friendly as always and they do a decent job moving you along to ensure the necessary turnover without feeling too rushed.

Walking up after greeting you, the first question the door guy asks is if you have a reservation. After being let in (once you said yes), there is a another line at the host stand to verify the reservations, then to be seated. This area is a narrow space between the bar and the staff behind the podium so there will still be a smaller wait outside for those waiting to get in due to tight space. Once seated, the bartender Meaghan came over immediately to greet us, offering sparkling, still or tap water. Alongside your glass, there was a selection of citrus (lemon/lime/orange) or cucumber to add which was a nice touch. Although I already had an idea of what I wanted, I went a completely different direction once she mentioned the off-menu selections. This ended up being the heirloom tomato salad (I know, when the heck have I ever ordered anything like this) which was $20, and a side of their hand-cut fries, $13.95. You are to order everything at once, and they course it out accordingly. The people next to me ordered a lot of food; most of it the popular items which I veered away from with the exception of the fries. The party on the other side of me went with two items I was considering prior so it was nice to see what these looked like up close. The tomato salad was very good! I normally scrape off onions but I actually ate all of them and the taste didn't 'stay with you' which I was grateful for, while the basil flavor was a nice contrast. These were the larger beefsteak style tomatoes so I was fork and knifing this dish. I will admit this, along with the fries, were a little more salty than what I am used to but it was delicious overall. I almost considered a sauce with the fries but they honestly did not need it; the flavor was more than enough on their own. Wasn't planning on it, but I ended up adding the apple hand pies ($19) which were pretty good. They didn't have anything chocolate-based, so this was the next best thing. Since they come in an order of two, I ended up taking the other hand pie back to the hotel. Restrooms are right past the bar, down a flight of steps and there are two single-sex doors. If you are seated at the bar, you pretty much have no reason to go past that into the dining room so it felt like a subtle off-limit area (and staff was there to direct you where to go). Truth is, I really didn't want to like this place. I didn't want to have to deal with scoring a reservation in the future however the food I had was decent (and there are still some items I want to try), service from the doorman, Meaghan, the food runners, and hostesses was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. You'll end up talking to fellow diners comparing dishes, and it made for an enjoyable experience all around. I'd say it was worth it.

The Service: The staff went above and beyond. A special shout-out to the incredible waitstaff and the attentive water service person who constantly kept our glasses filled--such a thoughtful touch.
