    Dos Tacos w/ bacon!
    Maddy A.

Walked in for a Saturday brunch & got a seat immediately outside. These breakfast tacos were wonderful! Only complainant would be the need for a bigger tortilla because it was packed to the brim with toppings! LOL not a bad issue at all, there was so much flavor in the mango salsa + dimes hot sauce, the eggs were perfectly cooked & the bacon was PERFECTLY crispy! Exactly how I want my bacon. The only reason for 4 stars is because our food took quite a bit of time to come to the table after ordering. Vibes were great outside on probably the last warm NYC fall Saturday this year!

Dimes, located at 49 Canal Street in Manhattan's Lower East Side, stands as a culinary and cultural institution that has significantly influenced the neighborhood now colloquially known as "Dimes Square." Founded in 2013 by Alissa Wagner and Sabrina De Sousa, Dimes began as a modest 20-seat café on Division Street. Its unique blend of health-conscious, California-inspired cuisine and minimalist design quickly garnered attention, leading to its relocation to a larger space on Canal Street in 2015 . The restaurant's menu reflects its commitment to fresh, innovative dishes. During a recent visit, I sampled the corn croquettes and thick-cut potato wedges, both of which were delightful. The corn croquettes offered a crispy exterior with a creamy, flavorful center, while the potato wedges were perfectly seasoned and accompanied by a tangy green goddess aioli. The veggie burger, however, leaned heavily on seaweed flavors, which, while appreciated by some, may not suit everyone's palate. Beyond its culinary offerings, Dimes has cultivated an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. The crowd is notably LGBT friendly, exuding a genuine and low-key vibe that feels both authentic and unpretentious. This ambiance aligns with the founders' vision of creating a community-centric space that resonates with a diverse clientele . Dimes' influence extends beyond its walls. The establishment played a pivotal role in the emergence of "Dimes Square," a micro-neighborhood characterized by its blend of art, fashion, and culinary scenes . This area has become a hub for creatives and trendsetters, further cementing Dimes' status as a cornerstone of cultural evolution in the Lower East Side. Almost everything in the menu is healthy and tasty and the vibe feels like family and home. Go Check it out!

it's a small little place but a great vibe inside and casual atmosphere with nice servers. The dos tacos had scrambled eggs perfectly ripe and delicious avocado (which is really important to me) nice corn tortillas MANGO SALSA add bacon... it was so so so good. i don't like mayonnaise, but my foodie companions LOVED the BLT. And the other is obsessed with the potato wedges (for some reason lol i thought they were mid) i think because it has a tiny kick of spice on seasoning,

Enjoyed a hearty well-balanced breakfast plate here with a good matcha-macca latte that I asked for extra hot and they actually made it extra hot. Very friendly service and they did not rush me on a weekday afternoon.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile, food was pretty good and the staff was super nice! Not my favorite breakfast spot I've been too but I enjoyed going. Def a great back up option for brunch but o wouldn't go out of my way to go here

In the neighborhood and looking for a great little brunch spot you found it! Nestled on Canal my friend and I came for a Sunday brunch. The place is small and very cozy. It wasn't super busy when we first got there but it definitely got really busy! And it was not loud at all. We were seated promptly. My friend had coffee and I had a latte which came out with a heart shaped design. For brunch my friend had the breakfast sandwich and I had the bergamot pancakes. LET ME TELL YOU! I'm not a big pancake eater but these pancakes were light, fluffy, oh so full of flavor. The blueberries on top were just perfect! I didn't even need the syrup on the side. Lots of items on the brunch menu. I can't wait to come back to try the dinner menu! And the prices are good too.

Neptune burger is made with seaweed--delicious and packed with minerals!

I happened on Dimes last evening on my way to Chinatown, and decided, "Why not?" I chose the only vegan entrée--the Neptune burger, made with seaweed--and was totally unsurprised at how delicious it was. I'm sorry there weren't more vegan options on the menu, but everything I had was amazing. This tiny--I counted 30 seats, plus bar--restaurant is cozy and comfortable; I didn't ask their hours, but I'm sure they're on a par with the area restaurants. I'll have to check out the other location soon!

Bavette Steak - extra brocoli rabe instead of fava bean
    Ari A.

Dinner was a cute spot for dinner. Nice location, ambiance and helpful staff. Dinner was a tad underwhelming, but it seems dimes is more well known for brunch/breakfast. My steak was great, albeit a small portion. The broccoli rabe was bitter... but I'm convinced it's just a bad season for broccoli rabe as I've been disappointed all summer at multiple spots whenever I choose to Eat it. Next time I'll come back to dimes for lunch hours, and stick to my favorite Kiki's around the corner for dinner.

Dimes may be considered a "health conscious" place, which terrified me. In actuality, it's a neat little restaurant with some awesome menu items, such as the chicken soup and the pork (not pictured).

One of the most hipster restaurants i have been to. Very cute interior. Loved the vibe. Servers were very friendly. We came on a Saturday and there was no wait although almost all tables were taken. They have really nice outdoor seating with shade as well if you prefer that. The menu has breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We went more of the brunch route and everything was delicious. I really liked the mango salsa on the tacos. The eggs were cooked really well. Overall fun spot.

Good service, music, and vibes, but very disappointing food quality for the price. My salad ingredients were not fresh and the salmon portion was extremely small for the large add-on price.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Dimes when I walked in, and I'm not sure I know what to expect after I've eaten there, either. There were lots of "trendy" people there when we went on a Sunday morning. The menu was full of interesting Brazilian inspired brunch items, but the decor and atmosphere felt more like a toned down Urban Outfitters, and it felt disconnected. The coffee was great but the portions of the food items were smaller than I expected for what we paid.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

It had just the right amount of sweetness, and the crunchy wafer layers added a nice crispy texture. Reservations definitely require some planning since they open up seven days in advance. I think they do accept walk-ins, but expect to line up early or wait quite a while. The restaurant space is warmly lit by candlelight at dinner, creating an intimate, cozy ambiance. Perfect for a date night or a special occasion. Service was stellar. I am excited to try recreating their recipes at home. Drinks come, Ok - My drink I had to assemble myself which was cute I could make it too my liking, I just might have liked if there was actual alcohol with it... Then food, apps were Ok... The mains, NO... The steak had NO FLAVOR, not even bad flavor, NONE... Then the music changed, and the band that went on after was just NOT a vibe - what we had hoped would be a cute, cuddle in a little booth, get some music, good food, turned into a "are we done, lets hurry and go drink at the hotel bar" experience! Sad because I wanted to love this place, and maybe another booth where my ass wasnt on my neighbors chair, and the music was a different band might change this whole experience!
