It was hard to choose what to order, but we got the breakfast pita and shakshuka with sausage. The breakfast pita was stuffed with eggs, bacon, feta and aioli. The shakshuka came with a fluffy loaf of challah for dipping. The dishes were perfect for sharing! Everything was well seasoned and made with fresh ingredients. Came here around 2 PM, very very hungry and simply wanted to eat anything. Overall, I would say this place is good and has a quirky vibe, but the prices don't really align for what you are getting. It took around 30 minutes to get seated without a reservation (not bad considering other places were not seating anymore). We were recommended the Malawach and Breakfast pita to order. The pita was really good and flavorful, but the Malawach was very simple and left me wanting more. So by the time I had this, I had just checked out of my hotel; however, that was not before I made my decision to actually go eat there. Yeah, it was a last minute decision, who cares? Well I probably should have. Why? This place gets so much business and gets so crowded, you will actually be asked upon entering if you've made a reservation to come here! Yeah, me being the totally smart idiot I am did not do this. Lucky for me, I was still able to squeeze into an opening and was still able to be waited on, so we can begin the review in earnest. And by the way, the service here is phenomenal! The employees are nice and very helpful! But yeah, before you come here, MAKE A RESERVATION! You need it! So it took a moment for me to decide what I had wanted for my brunch, but I was able to start off with a cappuccino, and you get a pitcher to pour water into a smaller glass. The way the cappuccinos are served to you by the way is artistic in such a way that you can see a heart to top off your drink. That's how you know they make their coffees and the like with love. So this delightful place specializes in Israeli food which is a nice touch I had not thought about trying when I arrived in Brooklyn the night before. But for brunch, this will hit the spot. So when deciding what to order, I almost went with the pancakes, but as I looked more at my menu, I had noticed another choice begin to emerge that caught my eye: the breakfast pita which has scrambled eggs, bacon, and topped with harissa aioli. Bacon is like the most perfect side EVAR when it comes to breakfast and goes great on a lot of things. The harissa aioli also drew me in because I happen to love aioli as a condiment. Fun fact, I actually use garlic aioli and not mayonnaise or ketchup when I cook a Philly cheesesteak! That's how much you can convince me to try your item if it has a good aioli as its condiment! So yeah, that's what I went with, and might I say, that was absolutely scrumptious! I normally don't even eat egg, but even the egg here was good. Oh, I would also like to let y'all in on something about my experience here that just absolutely made my mouth water. So at a table next to the one I was at, a man there was served this dish that looked to be in some kind of a pan. I actually remarked to him "THAT looks good", and he mentioned that next time I come here, I should order this. I went here for a Sunday girls' brunch and was disappointed. I had the incredible shawarma with a side of pita, and my friends had the shakshuka, breakfast pita, and pancakes. The food was good, but overall, we had a bad experience. The waitstaff wasn't very friendly, and we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. Between this and Shalom Japan, Jews in Brooklyn can now rejoice in embracing multiple cuisines, and their roots, without compromising much of what us Jews (yes, I am lumping me in here) enjoy, food! Stopping in here on a quiet morning allowed me the flexibility to enjoy two dishes quite blissfully. The menu options offer an eclectic array of Israeli dishes that I know all too well, and combine it a little with some American flair. This is probably why all the food tastes as light, fresh, and refreshing as it gets. I started with the Shakshouka and knowing how it can par up with the Shakshouka in Israel, this would be a tough task. No worries, it is delicious. The eggs mellow out a delightfully spicy tomato sauce and you get a beautiful challah loaf for dipping, but do not discount it as a side. It is flaky and buttery and tastes decent on its own. This dish does need a meat, and the Merguez sausage is the perfect accent to it. Light but flavorful, savory but not overly salty. Two little links of this makes this whole dish a solid four and a half stars out of a possible five. I decided to double up and get the pancake as well. It is more a cake than a pancake, if that makes sense, but it is cooked light, fluffy, and accented by the right fruits. Bananas and blackberries are the correct call. Raspberries and strawberries would make the cake too tart. These keep the pancake sweet but not too sweet to the point it will make it too decadent. I did without the butter though, but put a bit of syrup on them to see how it would turn out. It did just fine. Sadly this dish needs a bit of what I call a performance enhancer or it does taste a bit dry. I award this dish three and half stars out of five. They also offer various drinks; I got a lemonade which had the perfect tart to sweet ratio. I also got a Jerusalem bagel and a blueberry scone to take home for later. These will not have impact on the overall rating as the three things I did eat more than make up for it. The service is also real cute and friendly as my server was super bubbly and the barista behind the counter was very cute, in a northern Brooklyn kind of way. In a surprising twist of fate, I discovered this restaurant is right across the street from Bamonte's, an Italian restaurant I am hoping to try. As a result, I will be back in the area soon. We had a really fantastic brunch at Moabet because there weren't tables available at Reunion and the hostess encouraged us to head to Moabet where they were holding brunch and taking walkins. Very rarely do I find a place that does everything right and I have to admit... Reunion does everything right. On a Saturday afternoon, my partner and I were able to walk in and get seated immediately. The waitress had a very welcoming aura and provided us with beautiful menu booklets. The cover for the menu is what I assume to be buildings in Tel Aviv and everything sounded appetizing. We took our waitress' recommendations and opted for the hummus, sabich, incredible shwarma chardonnay white wine, and an off-menu gin and juice cocktail. We ordered a bowl of yogurt and granola and malebi ice cream in addition to her recommendations. I've had some great hummus in my time and I have to say that Reunion's hummus makes the top of the list. The consistency and taste with the accompanying warm and soft pita bread is perfect. I usually don't go for too much pita to save room for other food but we couldn't help getting another basket (in addition to the pita served with the sabich!). The sabich is surprisingly light despite the fact that the eggplant is fried. Mixed with the sauces at the bottom of the plate, fresh herbs, spicy peppers, and pita. This is a delicious and solid main. The yogurt & granola was a sweet relief to the savory sides and mains we ordered. The granola included fresh strawberries and bananas, a little honey, and nuts for texture. Very tasty. The portion is definitely hefty and matches the 15 dollar price tag. My partner and I were glad that the incredible shwarma only included the chicken. The chicken is nicely seasoned, tender, and fragrant from the mix of herbs and red cabbage on top. Since the plate is only chicken, it makes the dish easier to share amongst multiple people. And since everything we had was so delicious, even though my partner and I were really full, we were determined to try the malebi ice cream. And no surprise, the ice cream was super flavorful, fragrant, and refreshing. The strawberry rose syrup mixed with the rosewater ice cream and topped with pistachios is the perfect end to the meal. The best part? They make the syrup and the ice cream with their own in house recipe! In addition to all the food being perfect, the service is phenomenal. All the waiters and waitresses are friendly, personable and very knowledgable about the menu. The bus boy is quick and consistent and could also answer questions about the menu. When my partner dropped his fork by accident, the waiter was very attentive and replaced my partner's fork in seconds without my partner asking. Front of house definitely knows what they're doing. Everything about Reunion is meticulously thought out from the food, to the service, to the beautiful menu covers and the decoration of the restaurant. Dropped by Reunion last night for a last minute dinner and to say I was highly impressed would be an understatement. Ordered the following: Lamb Arais: (5/5) This grilled pocket of perfectly cooked lamb with all the right flavors was the star of the show. The pita was juicy and crispy from the lamb cooked inside, and the lamb itself was tender and flavorful. This is easily one of the top dishes I've tried in New York and that is saying a lot! We stopped in today for brunch around 10:30am. Today was Reunion's 9th birthday, so they threw a little party with music and "I'm 9 Bro" t-shirts. It was so cute! To eat, we started off with some nachos that come seasoned with pico de gallo, avocado, and feta and cheddar cheese. These were an absolute flavor bomb of goodness. Highly recommend. To eat, I ordered Inna's Pancakes. These are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were magnificent, I would come back just for them. It was a nice surprise when Inna, herself, stopped by to greet our table and I was able to tell her how great her pancakes are. I got to try my friend's Shakshuka which was delicious as well! There was an issue with our reservation and our table wasn't going to be ready until 20 minutes after it was scheduled. We were told to head outside and find somewhere else to keep warm until our table would be ready. Normally, I wouldn't find that a big deal, but it was 20 degrees out that night! Outdoor dining has definitely tripled how many customers the restaurant can serve as the interior is a small square box with limited seating options. I had seen this place while walking around, but did not know they also had a brunch menu! While browsing for somewhere to eat with friends on a Sunday, my friend came across this place and we decided to give it a shot. Gave them a ring to see how long the wait would be, we ran over, and were sat about 5 minutes after. Inside it is really packed and loud with all the people talking, so hearing what people were saying was a bit difficult. Our waitress was lovely and quick to get our orders in, but did take a bit of time to actually get our food. On my end, I got a chai latter with oat milk (delicious), and the malawach. First time trying Israeli food and I was definitely surprised and satisfied. The Malawach was very yummy, not what I was expecting, but very good nonetheless. I dont think I ate it correctly, but truly enjoyed it. One of my friends got the Shakshuka and gave me a piece to try and I loved it! Another one got the breakfast pita and it looked exquisite. Overall, enjoyed the food a lot! Will definitely come back but maybe opt out to sit outside (if the weather permits) as I think it will be less noisy! read more
