I don't understand how this place doesn't have 5 stars because these are one of my favorite sandwiches! I love the ambiance since I'm into the rocker vibes and I love how whimsical all the titles are. I definitely need to come here at least once a week because their service and sandwiches are just top tier! We ordered the best seller - the Tim Howley and the most popular - Steve Byrne and honestly both sandwiches were really good in their own way. I would definitely say Tim Howley is better for everyone and the taste buds and aligning because there's Peruvian chicken with avocado so it's definitely very protein heavy. Eeek, so happy I tried this place out! Ordered take-out and was so so pleased. Ordered the Alyssa Milano (small) and dang, did that sandwich pack a punch. On vacation to NY. A fan of Chef Brian and Frenchy on SYWGFvideos. From California so I'm familiar with Ike's sandwiches and the concept. I got the Steve Byrne and my wife got Vegan Annie Oakley. Looking and eating the sandwiches you can tell the ingredients were good and lots of care was put into it. Down to the pop open box with your personalized sticker with name. Chef Brian beat Bobby Flay with his bulgogi recipe so I had to get the Steve Byrne. My wife always gets vegan eggplant sandwiches so Vegan Annie Oakley was the choice. I love the bulgogi and lunches pairing. I'm used to my bulgogi being a little sweeter but that was my only critique. Firstly, the bread is crunchy and chewy, the perfect binding agent that makes this sandwich special. Then comes the bean sprouts, then the pickled carrots, cucumbers, a little bit of heat from the sriracha, finally getting a hit of the turkey, which is moist and carries enough flavor to bring home an insane symphony of flavors. That run-on sentence is well-deserved in this review. In other words, this sandwich is basically a Banh Mi on crack, which is never a bad thing to someone like me who loves a Banh Mi. I came here with friends on a Sunday afternoon. They have giant sandwiches usually named after celebrities (Taylor Swiss of course haha). Took a little trip to BK for sandwiches. Not not a big place, but I had enough seats for a handful of people. The service is great, friendly and accommodating to my dietary needs. We got the Bug Lucca and Tim Howley, they were hefty delicious sandwiches with soft but sturdy Dutch bread. You don't realize how big the sandwich is until you get it. Big Lucca was a Italian-ish sandwich with a twist of roast beef, which is what sold my partner, but could have done without the messy mayo. Post Melon - Never would I think I'd enjoy melon inside of a sandwich but this took me by surprise. It's definitely on the sweeter side with the fruit and honey, but it goes super well with the prosciutto and cheeses (mozzarella and provolone). Walked in on a Sunday late afternoon and there were quite a few people waiting for their orders. Split the valencia with my partner and it took a good twenty minutes. But definitely worth the wait! Sandwich lovers, pay attention. Mission Sandwich serves more than just standard cold cuts on white bread. Even better, they actually respect that vegetarians want more than grilled cheese when it comes to sandwiches. I'm really not one to ever opt to eat a sandwich over say, a bowl of noodles, or even a salad, but I can get down with the occasional good one when a place is as thoughtful with the combination of ingredients as MSS. They have a long (but not dizzyingly so) menu, and a vegetarian menu just as long as the meat-based one. I love a place that respects plant-based eaters. I quite liked my Raging Bull sandwich, made with grilled eggplant, aged provolone, fresh mozzarella, and spicy banana peppers. My favorite sandwich shop serves a sandwich I love that contains 3 different cheeses, so I realize one thing that makes up a good sandwich to me is if there are multiple types of cheese in it. Portion-wise, half a sandwich makes for a filling but reasonable lunch (at least for me), but dare to dream big and finish the whole thing in one sitting if you can. There's only one little counter by the window to stand and eat at, and a bench outside, so unless you're down with that plan, take your sandwich to go. read more
