I was in the area and wanted something healthy for lunch and came across Quinoa Kitchen. I always try to go to an independently owned spot over a chain if I have the chance, so decided to give it a try. You can order on a screen at the counter, but the folks working in the back were friendly and let me know it'd be just a five minute wait. There were a lot of people coming in and out with takeout orders, so makes sense to order ahead if you can. I was debating between the ahi tuna and salmon bowl, but eventually settled on the ahi tuna. There are a few different options for bases, I got lentils as a base and was happy to find that these weren't just plain boiled lentils, they were seasoned really well and had some onions/garlic. I unfortunately was not the biggest fan of the ahi tuna -- it had a strong fishy taste that didn't work well for me, but that may just be personal preference; the fish did have a soy marinade that came through though. Kale salad was one of the sides, really flavorful and adorned with chickpeas, feta and pumpkin seeds. There's also a vegan version of the salad available. I also got the cabbage/carrot slaw as a side for my bowl, all the vegetables were crunchy and fresh! There's a couple seats along the window, I stayed to eat there solo but definitely wouldn't fit larger groups. Really great option, and surprisingly affordable, and flavorful healthy food in the area. Would 100% go back, maybe just not with tuna as a protein next time. read more

I got the Angus burger and fries and it was amazing. The fries come with a curry ketchup which is very good. They ask you how you want your burger cooked, which is nice Super delicious and very filling. The burger has I believe a spicy sauce so it gets a little spicy, but definitely not too much and I can't handle spice- so probably not spicy for the average person. When I came in to order the food came out quickly. It's quite busy with uber eats and locals coming in to pick up. The space has about six stools and a counter that you can eat if you want to stay. The fries didn't come out fresh out the oil so they weren't hot like I would've liked them to be which was disappointing cause the were actually pretty tasty and especially being that I got a fresh hit off the grill burger. Solid quick healthy spot that I find myself ordering for lunch when I need to get out of my apartment. While I like some of the fast casual spots, I really much rather prefer the fast casual spots which are independently owned like Quinoa Kitchen. The service here is very friendly and you see the same people working in the kitchen and at the front which is a comforting feeling. I've tried a number of their bowls and everything I've had has been delicious! You can customize your bowl with various toppings and they use all fresh ingredients and it feels very light and healthy. I started with a kale salad base and added Brussels and chicken ($14), and it was a hearty lunch while feeling relatively healthy. It's about $12 with fries. This tastes just like an actual burger, and even has a bloody and greasy appearance to it. A lot of critics question whether this burger is actually healthy, but who says vegan food always has to be healthy? Sometimes it's nice to just stuff your face with a big mess. Other items include the bowls. These are mixtures of grains, proteins, and vegetables. Everything here is made fresh. It's not always healthy, but it's always tasty. Now this may sound biased and you may have a different preference but I've been using pea protein for awhile and it has done wonders to my belly. I use sun warrior pea protein and guess who else uses this brand? Yup, QK is on it and they make some pretty awesome protein smoothies packed with the goodness it promised (They didn't really promise me anything , I just put that there.) The smoothies are bangin, fulfilling and hands down nourishing the soul. Also I recall having their tuna and salmon on different days and it was grrrrrreat ! This place slaps and it's a cool chill vibe. Now the seating is limited because of the space but you can sit at the table facing out and watch folks pass you by as you consume QK's healthy food and feel your mitochondria just power up like Ken and Ryu for a "HADOOKEN" to the rest of your day. I don't think I've ever gotten service less than great here and again, I may be biased and a big supporter of mom and pops spots but I've gotten a service with a smile (but have some empathy for the guys giving a smile to everyone, the face gets tired. He ordered the sirloin with kale and quinoa that came with chimichurri. It was so tender -- best bite of steak I've had in a while! All the sauces come on the side for you to add to your taste. For my salmon bowl, I went with basil pesto. The cashier highly recommended the lemon dill so he generously added a side of it for me to try as well. The food was ready in 8-10 minutes. Had the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl with Waldorf Salad and Peruvian Quinoa. The portion was filling enough. The tuna was very well seasoned and fragrant with spices. The waldorf salad had a nice texture and refreshing taste of apple and grapes intermingled with walnut. The peruvian quinoa was tangy and tasty. Overall it was a very tasty healthy meal. Price was decent and staffs were very friendly. I would have loved to give it a 5 star but my friend should have an avocado with her order but they forgot about it! Great fast casual and healthy (!) lunch spot on Bedford Ave! Their space is tiny with only 4 chairs, but most people seem to take out or get delivery, so I had no trouble sitting and eating there. Their menu is pretty simple - choose a protein, side, quinoa or rice, and in a bowl or a wrap. They also have burgers (beef, veggie, or beyond) and pressed juices. I got the wild salmon in a wrap with quinoa + a side of sweet potato fries for $13. and it was DELICIOUS! I love that they grill the wrap so its warm and toasty on the outside. They cut it in half for you so it's easy to share, and the side of fries was plenty. I ended up saving the other half of the wrap for lunch tomorrow. I will definitely be back! read more

I am a big fan of the angus beef burger, the black bean veggie quinoa bowl and the kale salad. All really good. They also have sweet potato fries with chipolte aoili sauce too. The fries often arrive soggy but I guess thats expected when you get fries delivered. They dont have pickles as an option for the burger but they do have these really nice carmalized onions that they put on the burger which I have come to love. For some reason no matter how many fries you order, they only give you one small container (like 10 fry dunks) worth of chipolte aoili. I can understand not giving out truffles or bacon or some expensive addon for free, but really? Why be so stingy with it. I ultimately stopped ordering from here just because I got consistently wrong orders and they forgot my sauce or drink plenty of times. When I call to ask, no apology they just say "Okay were sending it now" like thats great your sending it now but my fries are going to be cold and so will my burger so I guess ill have my juice later and eat my food with a water. They do have these great fresh juices too. Great spot though. Mix ups in orders happens all the time in the city, but the food quality is still pretty good. They also actually listen to how you want your burger cooked too. A lot of these places have "select how you want your burger cooked options" and they all do medium well regardless, but the guys here know how to spot when a burger is done medium, medium rare and well done. I am weird and have recently moved away from doing medium rare everytime since it arrives a little more soggy. All in all, great spot. I'm writing this review with teary eyes and a broken heart. On December 23rd, I went to Quinoa to grab a quick bite before my performance across the street. The cashier was visibly intoxicated, overly flirty, and made me extremely uncomfortable. Once he finally took my order, he told me it would take 5 mins to prepare. I was not a new customer to Quinoa. I normally wait in the restaurant for my food, but because the cashier was hitting on me, I waited in my car. 15 mins later, I went to retrieve my food. The cashier was so inebriated that he forgot to give my order to the cooks, and so my food was never made. I asked him for a refund because the 15 mins that I waited was all the time that I had. He refused to give me back my money saying, "it's not that serious, it only takes five mins." We went back and forth over me receiving my refund because I had to go, but he absolutely refused to give back my money. To add insult to injury, he then turned to the cooks behind him and said, "you see why I don't like Black women? You see why I don't like my own kind?" I was mortified at the verbal abuse I was receiving over his drunken mistake that was being escalated to an attack against my race and gender. Later that night I left a review, and the next day the owners Jack & Gus (father and son), reached out to me as their cooks confirmed what I detailed in my post. They promised that he was fired for his actions, and they refunded my meal in addition to offering for my next meal to be free. They asked me to take down my original review, and I did so because I felt like they understood, had my back, and chose to handle the situation appropriately. On December 26th, I received a phone call from one-half of Quinoa's ownership (the son) saying that his father decided to keep the abusive cashier as an employee because he's been there for years and they "can't afford to lose the diversity in the restaurant" as the abusive cashier is the only Black employee they have. Given this new information, I now see that the owners previously told me what I wanted to hear just so that I'd agree to remove my review. They are not men of their word as they did not honor what they said they would do. Williamsburg is a neighborhood made up of a large Jewish population on one side and a large LGBTQ+ population on the other. If the cashier had said something Anti-Semitic or Anti-LGBTQ+, the owners would have gotten rid of him swiftly, and without a second thought. Hate speech of any kind should never be tolerated. It's wrong that only certain types of hate speech gets taken seriously, and I am calling out Quinoa ownership for choosing to stand by this hateful man. In their minds, since it was a Black man abusing a Black woman, they are justified in keeping him in the workplace. They completely disregarded the trauma I experienced at their restaurant simply because they're too lazy to search for another qualified Black employee (which I might add are bountiful for the choosing in New York). In 1965, a civil rights leader said, "the most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman." Quinoa is living proof that this is still very much true up until this very day. Choosing not to act is akin to choosing to tolerate and the choices made by Quinoa ownership has spoken unfortunate volumes. read more
