I brought my bestie here based on reviews I saw ages ago. They were good at the time. However, recently, based on our experience, the place and food was not as expected. Since we already sat down and were quickly served water, we decided to stay and give it a try, even though as soon as we reviewed the menu we noticed that there was no meat. For reference: we were the only ones there. Occasionally people would peek and pass by, but no one came here to eat. The tofu (designed to taste like meat) still tasted like tofu. I ordered a salad and it was nothing special - something I could easily have made myself. No special design or anything to make it worth what we paid. My bestie ordered some noodles with some "meat-like" tofu and vegetables. Her dish was literally 90% noodles, 5% tofu that tasted like tofu and 5% vegetables. She was really unhappy. As we ate, there was a loud noise - someone listening to a game on a tv in the background and we couldn't enjoy the background music, nor our conversations. There appeared to be one or two people on staff, and no one came around to check on us. We wound up going to the counter to pay, to save on time, and to go get a burger from a spot we noticed one block away. Overall, the food tasted fine, but it didn't match the reviews I had previously seen for here. We were tempted by several choices after crossing the Williamsburg Bridge and traipsing through Domino Park. This pan-Asian vegan restaurant is actually on North 10th Street a half-block away from Bedford. A local vlogger in Brooklyn recommended it, and well, we wanted to have a healthy lunch since we had been gluttons on our vacation. Overall our choices were OK but definitely not outstanding. While this is not my first visit not even my second but I will say it will be my last. I have never come to this establishment and been dissatisfied as I am right now at this current moment. First my guest and I were seated for (first time visitor) about 5-7 mins before the waiter came to ask if there was something he could get us after serving guest that came in after us, then failed to inform my guest that the order she ordered was served with cold broccoli under hot shrimp, I then watched the waiter take a hand full of broccoli using no gloves and put in the microwave and brought to my guest, what kind of mess is that...also she ordered a cup of coffee which took all of 20 mins to get her. If people of color are not welcomed any longer in your establishment maybe that should be made known! Honestly, I'm very mad at the reviews on this place. I was confident when I looked at peoples pictures and I read reviews and it seemed like everyone was very satisfied with this place. Me and my husband decided to give this place a try and it was horrible. I ordered the soy nuggets and a mixed green salad. Those were the worst nuggets I have ever experienced. They were soggy and weird and too soft in the middle, then they had big pieces of edamame in it. The sauce that came with the nuggets were also just yucky. I was not that mad at that, I was like OK just not for me so let me just get a big green salad. He said they had a very good mango dressing to go with it. When he brought that salad out it looked beautiful with the variety of all types of greens but that sauce tasted horrible! It was like they just took mango juice and just poured it all over the salad. My husband ordered the basil soy and a spring roll with a ginger tea. He can eat anything but he couldn't finish this. Finding good vegan food that has both clean ingredients and amazing taste is difficult in my opinion so when I saw the reviews on wild ginger I had to experience it for myself. For starters we had tom yum soup, crispy soy protein nuggets and the bbq vegan ribs. For our main dish we ordered Thai basil fried rice along with Malaysian Curry Stew and basil soy protein. Then ended with the pumpkin cheesecake and peanut butter bomb. My favorites were the crispy so protein nuggets cause it literally almost tasted just like a chicken nugget and the sauce that came with it was delicious. Basil soy protein which has so much flavor and just the right amount of veggies to so protein and the peanut butter bomb. I am big into dessert and the peanut butter bomb was just the perfect touch to satisfy my sweet tooth. Now the rest of the food was just as equally amazing and to top it off the service was impeccable. We were greeted with a friendly smile and the waiter was very helpful in helping us decide what was the best dishes in the menu. The food portion was plenty and the price affordable. Just visited again on Saturday for the first time in such a long time. Everything was fresh and delicious. I love that everything is 100% Vegan. I really hope they evolve, and add more items to their menu. The Vegan scene is constantly changing, it would be wonderful to see new items on the menu, new desserts on the menu also. We got the Red curry Seitan, It was delicious , but it was missing the vegetables eggplant, cauliflower , just FYI. I went to this establishment last week. I was unaware that it was vegan, but when I asked the waiter what dish she recommended as their signature dish, she paused and did not have an answer. That was not a good way to start off this experience, but I was told to go with the Thai Basil Fried Rice and I ordered vegetable dumplings as an appetizer. I said I like my food Thai hot, but I don't think this place is Thai owned. I will explain why in a moment. It's Covid times and it's not like they were busy, so I waited a very long time to get the above simplistic dishes. Only one take-out order was prepared during my wait time. I waited about 20 mins for my order, which is unusual considering how dead it was there. Back to my order, if this was a Thai owned place, they would NOT use Sriracha sauce into the rice to spice it up. Sriracha is NOT Thai, nor will it ever be. I get my dumplings - 20 mins later and they were ok. Not hot, but warm. Another 15 mins and the Thai fried rice came out. Talk about unimpressed......it was over $ 11.00 for rice infused sriracha with corn, some carrots and peas and diced tofu. All in all....wackness. I saw maybe 3 pieces of basil, but that was it for a vegan dish. No substantial veggies ie broccoli or spinach for this vegan dish. I would not recommend this place. Love this restaurant, the food is always fresh and delicious! Last time I came I had the Lemongrass Soy Protein, I strongly recommend it, very flavorful, light but filling at the same time. The Soy is served over a bed of steamed shitake mushroom, bell pepper, zucchini and carrot, with a pretty little flower in the corner or the plate. Im not vegan or vegetarian however I still enjoy coming here and trying a variety of dishes. The interior is nice, clean and inviting. The entrees are reasonably priced with good sized potions. I only gave this one star because I had to. Extremely POOR and inhospitable service. We arrived to find the restaurant empty on a Saturday 9/21 at 1:00 pm. We were a party of 4 (2 adults, 1 kid and 1 high chair) we ordered an abundance of food as we were all planning to share. Aside from the lackluster, inattentive service we had to respectively send the Pad Thai back as it was flavorless. The server before taking it back to the kitchen asked what we didn't like about it (normal). He then proceeded to bring the same plate back and said the chef said "this is one of our top sellers. Try squeezing lime on it" (not normal!) How Unprofessional is that? I spent 4 years in fine dining restaurant management and that is a NO NO. They forgot to bring out our rice and spinach Shumai, then dropped the check without asking if we needed anything else (and we were celebrating a birthday at the table). Needless to say we were ready to leave. The shumai (which we never received ) and the pad Thai (which we took 1 bite and sent back) were both on the check. We then had to waste another 5 min speaking to a rude manager (female, ponytail, glasses) who apparently understood English but surprisingly didn't know how to respond so she told her employee "we made the food for you so we'll give you a discount " as she snickered behind the counter. Not looking me in the eye once. I told her she was to remove the Schumaj and pad Thai as we did not receive or consume it. Subpar service would be a compliment. Came on a Saturday for lunch. The restaurant was surprisingly empty. They opened the front window/doors to give it an alfresco feel. The restaurant is beautifully designed with contemporary wall finishes, hardwood floors and dramatic lighting. We ordered a variety of appetizers and soups. The pan fried gyoza and the samosas had crunch and flavor. The steamed shumai was too soft. The pho was bland with no cinnamon flavor but the curry soup was just right.
