The staff tries to keep their cooking area clean but because there is a fresh baked pizza place parked right along side, with NO dividers and no separate entry/exits, there's going to be cross contamination. Finally, delicious and high quality kimbap in NY! Granted, it's overpriced compared to Korea, but I've had plenty of overpriced mediocre kimbap in the States. Instead, with Kimbap Lab, you are guaranteed a really fresh kimbap that not only tastes great but also doesn't skimp out on the ingredients. I saw that they had pre-made ones on display, but you can get them made to order, so unless you are in a hurry, definitely get your kimbap made fresh! I've had the tuna and the bulgogi and both are very good. I'm partial to tuna because that's always been my favorite type of kimbap, but bulgogi tastes great as well. You get to choose a dipping sauce and side of pickle for each kimbap. For sauce, I got the ssamjang aioli w the tuna and red pepper paste w the bulgogi. To be honest, I didn't need the sauce as the meat / tuna was seasoned well. Both the white radish pickle and kimchi were good. The man making my kimbap was super nice and really didn't hold back piling on the ingredients. The kimbaps are quite big as you can see in the picture. It's a perfect healthy lunch that fills you up. As a Korean, Kimbap is one of those foods that you eat because you need a quick meal, not because it is particularly tasty. It's also one of those foods where you wouldn't really go out to eat it, and if a restaurant offered it, you would probably order something else from their menu. Kimbap Lab proved me wrong. I was actually impressed by their Kimbap, and I can't wait to try other offerings. I also tried their Janchi Noodle (anchovy broth noodles with veggies and meat), and it was not too bad. You must add the side pepper/sesame oil that comes with it to really get the full flavor. Although it's pretty expensive, I think it's worth a return trip if there's a craving. read more

I'm Korean and I'm so happy this place delivers to my area. This place is definitely my favorite go to kimpbap place. My favorite is tuna kimpbap. I love that kimpbap is full of fresh ingredients and use minimal rice. I also had spicy pork bibimbap which tasted great. You can also order banchans (side dishes) and I got jalapeño pickle which is a common Korean American side dish you get when you eat BBQ. The easiest, most satisfying lunch delivery around. A pair of kimbap "triangles", supplemented with some kimchi from a jar in my fridge, is a lovely little break in the middle of a workday. The pickles and sauces are all delicious, I especially love the soy jalapeños and onions. Sure, it's expensive for kimbap, but it's seriously reasonable for lunch delivery in this area. So far, I've been loving the efficient kimbap area of the menu, but I'm planning to branch out sometime soon. :) I look forward to checking Kimbap Lab out in person when it's safer, too! read more

Kimbap Lab seriously does NOT disappoint in terms of authenticity, nostalgia and taste. They use top-notch ingredients that are fresh and the rolls are created right in front of you! I haven't had kimbap in awhile, and I've been used to homemade rolls since my mom would make them all the time during my childhood. With that in mind, this place really does it right, and for the price you pay the amount of food is enough to fill you up. Presentation is beautiful, and aside from having the classic bulgogi (marinated beef) option, there are plenty of other mixes to choose from that range from seafood to vegan tofu. The kimbap here is the real deal guys, classic food true to Korean flavors but elevated ingredients and style. Only thing I'm upset about is the fact that so far, they're only located in the Whole Foods in Williamsburg (and I think it might be a pop-up). But I have huge expectations for the company getting big and possibly having their own storefront. Also kudos to Sarah who is the co-founder. You select a protein, pickles and sauce. The size (girth) is rather larger than your standard kimbap rolls so the pricing is in line with portion and geography. I am a Korean living in NY for 20 yrs, half of which living in Brooklyn. Two blocks away from WholeFoods, I come here often just to have their Kimbap. These are not usual Kimbap or something you can find anywhere else! First of all, they are all fresh and you can find that in your mouth. You will be able to see how they wrap the roll w/ fresh ingredients packed up in front of your eyes. Second, there is a good variety of sauces going beyond your imagination. Try 3 of them together, so you're not missing anything for next time. Lastly, Kimbap is a fingertip art, and you can't deny who is doing what. They are all great but I truly appreciate when the Korean lady owner does it so elegantly with those courteous smile, which makes you feel 10 times up. Just be there during the day or before 9 pm. The roll is cut into bite-size pieces, which makes it convenient to eat. One roll is enough to fill you up and feel much more fulfilled than a typical sushi roll. For those who have tried other kimbap, I will tell you that this is next level. First, the size of the roll is much bigger than your typical Korean kimbap from a restaurant or Korean church :P. There was a thin layer of rice (as opposed to a thick layer at most low-quality places), and the kimbap was packed with high quality ingredients. Great kim bap take out shop by a famous Korean chef inside Wholefoods Williamsburg. Usually korean kim baps sold at take out shops in ktowns are just okay. They are okay to eat, but never that impressive, it's just kimbap. But this place doesn't hold back on any meat or veggies. They put so much quality ingredients that they are so huge, one doesn't fit in a mouth. It may seem expensive at first, but the portions are ridiculously huge and it comes out with 2 sauces, so I think the price is very reasonable. It's a little bit heavier than normal kimbaps but I found it to be amazing. We tried the spicy tuna and the spicy pork ones. They were outstanding. Must-try! read more

OMGGGGG this is the first gluten free Korean spot I've ever found AND they have vegan options clearly marked?!! I got the Yubu roll, Janchi Noodles, and the Triangle Kimbal roll (essentially yubu onigiri ) and everything I ordered was delicious. It had all the check marks of things I was skeptical of: 1) Korean food in Williamsburg? 2) Healthy and inside Whole Foods? It was actually delicious, good portion, and satisfying.
