The flavors are bold, layered, and ridiculously satisfying. The first bowl I had was loaded with crispy chicken katsu over a rich, velvety curry. The veggies were perfectly charred, the fried onions added the right crunch, and the portion was generous without feeling heavy. Paired with the kale salad (which is shockingly refreshing and not overdressed), it hit every note. Came back later for the ramen, and honestly... it might be some of the best I've had. The broth was deep and savory without being salty, the chashu had that perfect caramelized char, and the soft-boiled eggs were spot-on with a creamy yolk. The corn, seaweed, sprouts, scallions -- all fresh, vibrant, and balanced. You can tell the ingredients are treated with care. I always enjoy coming back here when I'm in the neighborhood. Their food is always consistent, you know what you're getting. You can never go wrong with their tacos, they're just that good! I've had this place a few times before and usually I get the curry bowl (would recommend, 5/5). Today I thought I'd try something new and go with the Japanese plate instead. The miso soup was quite interesting, I enjoyed how many ingredients they put into it! It was comprised of more than just miso paste and tofu, there was some kelp and mushroom in there. The salted Japanese pickles were too salty for my liking so that was a miss. For the protein, I did the +$2 upcharge and got the salted grilled mackerel. It was absolutely delicious. I was worried it wouldn't be enough food for me so I also ordered a side order of panko fried shrimp. I really love how clean the food here tastes, it's not overly fatty or greasy, and it's simple food made with quality ingredients. Like I said before, I usually get their curry bowls, and you really can't go wrong with any of their panko fried proteins (shrimp, fish, chicken). For those looking for a healthier alternative, I would recommend their teriyaki chicken bowl. The service is fast and friendly, and there are casual seating options both inside and outside. The tables are small, however, so I'm not sure this place would be ideal for larger parties (greater than 4). The prices aren't super cheap but for the quality of the ingredients they use, I feel like you are getting good value. It required the addition of a lot of sauces on the side to enhance the flavor so probably not the most enjoyable on its own. 5/10 Fried Cod Taco: Crispy interiors of the fried cod went well with the soft exterior of the taco shell. Good on flavor and good on texture. 8.5/10 Chicken Mole Taco: The chicken was cooked perfectly and flavorful to the best degree. The mole flavor was present and jazzed up this taco wonderfully which could otherwise be ordinary which it wasn't at all. 10/10 Chicken Mole Breakfast Taco: shaped and wrapped as a burrito and absolutely delicious. If you are in Bed-Stuy please check this place out. It is so good. One day we had delicious breakfast tacos- the chicken mole and their spicy spiced latte (iced) was amazing! The next day I had ramen with salmon and it was perfect. I also tried their tumeric matcha! Could have been hotter, but the flavor was really good. The guacamole was fresh and delicious but I wasn't a fan of the chips they used, they were too thick for my taste and so it felt very overwhelming vs just being a vehicle for the guacamole. The miso salmon is great, tender inside but crispy on the outside, just the way I like it. The fried chicken curry was so yummy, I think it will be hard to deviate from it in the future. Definitely something I will add to my roster They quickly took my order at the counter which was nice. I came at the right time (1 pm Wednesday) since right after many people came to order. My order came out quick (they do a receipt number system where they call out your order number). They had funky (complimentary) seating indoors and outdoors and since they offer drinks from coffee to wine and sake, this would be a great hangout spot or a casual date. The ambiance is also pleasant with the openness of the restaurant and seating that goes into the street I really liked that. However the food was pretty disappointing. My friend got the Cod curry and the cod was probably the best thing they make. It's cooked to be crispy however the food was very mediocre. I got the salmon taco, shrimp taco, chicken and cod. Also it has decorative walls. When I walked inside it was a Mexican curry fusion place. I ordered the fried chicken taco. I really enjoyed this taco but it was interesting. When I ordered the taco it did not have a tortilla. When I went to eat it; I told the person she checked and then they gave me a tortilla. So in my mind it would have been best if they gave me a new taco and asked me if I wanted to keep the tortilla less taco. But nonetheless I received my tortilla and it was very good. I would definitely come back and try other items from their menu. Also in their defense it was very busy and you can see they were operating at their peak time. And then you add in the fact that the chef wanted to incorporate "ITAL" Rastafarian food philosophy into the menu and I start feeling like too much is going on. The owner is also a musician who plays Afro-Caribbean, African and Japanese drums. However the chicken on its own was beyond dry, almost like cardboard with zero seasoning. The salmon miso was also dry and over cooked. The side salad was not dressed and had no dressing included.
