I really enjoyed my bagel at Frankel's! I can't say I've ever had a pastrami, egg, and cheese before, but the pastrami was super soft and cravable. I also thought the eggs were cooked very nicely and were so fluffy. My only qualm was with the bagel, which I found to be harder and crunchier than a typical bagel I have in NYC. Wowowow I never knew this place existed but I much prefer this over Federoff's! I'm a big fan of NYC deli culture and this place is definitely the vibe I know and love. I ordered Anita's hot brisket sandwich and the Turkey Reuben! Wow this hot brisket sandwich + the Russian dressing is a match made in heaven I honestly didn't know how creamy and yummy everything could be and each bite I just wanted more. I absolutely would say ask for more Russian dressing and the challah on the outside is phenomenal. The turkey Reuben is a must with mustard, hot sauce and Russian dressing as well I absolutely killed this thing and I almost saw god. Frankel's had been on my to try list for a long time, and I finally checked it out this past weekend when I spent a day in Greenpoint. I got their Frankel's #1 Bagel (pastrami salmon, scallion cream cheese, and dill cucumber salad on a poppy bagel), which was great. The cucumber salad kept it a little light - a great combination with the pastrami lox, cream cheese, and bagel. Frankel's is really cute inside - just a few barstools in the store windows. Came here today and it was very crowded inside, a bit chaotic, but luckily the line moved fast. I ordered the Anita's hot brisket sandwich. Frankel's is a solid bagel spot in Williamsburg, it's the place I take out of town guests when they really want to try a NYC bagel - besides Kossar's in LES. I personally always get the #1 and my husband always gets the pastrami, egg and cheese. The dill cucumber salad is divine. It's that sweet saltiness that I absolutely love. Also, something to be aware of is that the pastrami is in chunks not slices. It's still really good but you may be thrown off if you're expecting a Katz like pastrami. I have been to try Frankel's for the past five years and I now finally got the chance! The deli is at the corner, and it has some indoor and outdoor seating. There are lots of branded decor inside, and overall has a welcoming atmosphere. When I walked in, the cashier greeted me and I placed my order. Came to grab a bagel sandwich for a quick brunch in Greenpoint and was excited to try the Frankel's #1 with pastrami salmon, dill cucumber salad and cream cheese. I opted for the tofu scallion cream cheese which is vegan for a lighter option. Loved everything about this sandwich, the everything bagel I got was well seasoned and nicely toasted. The pastrami lox is flavorful and there's a ton of cucumber salad to balance out the carbs. The tofu cream cheese in particular is such a nice substitute for a lighter bagel sandwich and it's surprisingly creamy as well! I also grabbed a slice of their chocolate babka for $4 which made for a nice sweet treat. They also sell full babka loads but the slice is more than enough to satisfy any chocolate craving. Nothing hits like a Brooklyn bagel. I've tried most of the bagel offerings in Boston and, as much as I love Boston in relation to NYC, there's just no comparison. The lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel at Frankel's was phenomenal. They have a bunch of other options, including whitefish and the breakfast/egg varieties, but I always go with the classic as a true measure of a bagel place. When we came on a weekend morning, there was zero wait (maybe everyone was huddled for shelter in the line for Radio Bakery). We got the classic, with lox, dill cream cheese, tomato. The dill cream cheese was incredible, no notes. Same thing with the bagel. Overall, an excellent bagel sandwich, the kind I think about wistfully when I'm in Boston. Seriously, this particular section of Greenpoint is hitting it out of the park with the sheer amount of amazing food choices. Split this with my husband when the only correct choice was to have gotten our own. We ate this standing up and got the dill cream cheese all over our hands and faces. Super little Delicatessen in the middle of Greenpoint with very tasty Pastrami and great service. Actually stopped by on a whim, since another spot further north had a ridiculously long line out the door and we weren't willing to wait that long - whereas Frankel's was full, but we only had to wait 10 minutes for our food here. I'd been meaning to try another Delicatessen in NYC beyond Katz for some time, and Greenpoint always has excellent food. So this was an easy choice for lunch. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review, is the price - my pastrami sandwich cost $23. Pretty steep. But on the plus side, the food is delicious and the portions are quite good - so I guess you could look at it as actually buying two smaller sandwiches for $11.50 each. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and service is decently quick. And if you're patient, you can score a couple of seats by the window and people-watch while you enjoy your meal. It may not be as iconic as Katz, but it's an excellent place to stop for some good pastrami, in a fun neighborhood. Definitely recommend. read more

I've been here quite a few times and I've never left feeling very impressed. There is definitely a type of cult following for Frankel's and I've tried to believe them so bad with no luck yet. I've mostly ordered their breakfast and specialty sandwiches. Most recently I got their BEC with scallion cream cheese on a plain bagel. They are generous with their fillings which is what got them to a 4 from a 3 for me. There's nothing BAD about this spot but nothing very special to me. Their scallion cream cheese just tastes like plain cream cheese. It's a bit bland. I've also ordered their $14 chicken salad in the past and it was the tiniest container I've ever seen and tasted extremely plain. Looking back at the times I've come is honestly making me want to give a 3 star, but I'll stay where I'm at for now. Service here is generally good, they have really kind employees. I expected the pastrami to be tender, melt-in-your-mouth, and well-flavored. However, I think this was undercured or something because many bites were tough, chewy, and even grainy. It was an unusual texture and I hadn't experienced that before with good quality pastrami. If the pastrami was better, this could've been a killer breakfast sandwich! We ordered Frankel to work through Uber Eats and we were definitely impressed! We went with the pastrami sandwich, coleslaw, and sour pickle. After reading other reviews, it's obvious that they have a good thing going on at wrinkles. The pastrami was tender, seasoned Frankel's just right amount to make the sandwich manageable, the coleslaw had a nice light flavor to it and the sour pickle was a great addition to round out the meal.
