    The Dennis
    Dennis G.

If you want a sandwich that earns your loyalty over decades, Parisi Bakery & Deli is that place. I've been eating sandwiches here for as long as I can remember, and the remarkable thing is how nothing has slipped--not the quality, not the care, not the magic. Every visit reminds you why Parisi has survived since 1903 while trends and neighbors came and went. Let's talk about The Dennis--the undisputed star and a true signature sandwich. This thing is a monster, built on Parisi's legendary fresh-baked bread that somehow stays crisp, chewy, and perfect no matter how much goodness gets piled inside. You get a crispy breaded chicken cutlet layered with thin-sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and (if you know what you're doing) roasted red peppers. It's all brought together with their house balsamic blend and basil herb spread/pesto--bright, savory, and completely addictive. I cannot confirm or deny that the sandwich is named after me, but I can confirm it's flawless. Pro tips: * Cash only, old-school rules apply. * Come hungry or plan ahead--this sandwich is big enough to share or save half for later, and it still eats beautifully round two. * Tip the sandwich makers. These folks are artists, and the tip box deserves some love. Beyond the food, Parisi is living New York history. From its origins as an Italian bakery on Mott Street, to feeding generations of locals, to being famously beloved by Frank Sinatra (yes, the bread was shipped to California), this place is woven into the fabric of Little Italy/Nolita. Legends like De Niro and Scorsese are fans, and you can still feel that old-world soul--right down to the original brick oven relic resting in the basement. Parisi isn't just a deli. It's continuity. It's tradition. It's proof that when you do one thing incredibly well for over a century, people keep coming back. And once you've had The Dennis, you will too.

I love sandwiches so had to try this old school Italian deli! The Dennis is what they're known for, I got the one with roasted peppers for some extra flavor. I ordered at the counter and my sandwich was ready very quickly, probably in under 5min! I was impressed with their speed and efficiency. The Dennis is famous for a reason! I got it on a roll but I wish I did a hero because it was so tasty. The chicken cutlets were thin and not dry at all. Combined with the fresh mozzarella, the pesto, roasted peppers and fresh bread, it was delicious! Even the roll was very filling. They definitely do not skimp on the meat! They have a 2 person bench outside but it was taken so I went to a DeSalvio playground which was a block away. Tons of benches so it was the perfect spot nearby to enjoy my sandwich.

Food - excellent. One of the best Italian sandwiches I ever had hands down. Every topping was phenomenal I got the Dennis and I recommend adding peppers. Service was good, they got your order and got you out of there quick. Now the place was super small which left us no place to eat and it was raining outside, that's the only downside ti this place. Overall, highly recommend

First timer. A great sandwich. I got the Dennis. Crispy fried chicken cutlets (big pieces, thick breading), Fresh mozzarella, Prosciutto (looks like Parma-style), Tomato slices, Italian hero roll (crusty bakery-style), oil/vinegar or light seasoning. Only $17.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time but haven't been able to make it due to the outrageous $9 congestion toll fee. However, today is the day! I ordered the #3 which was the chicken cutlet with mozzarella & roasted peppers. THIS SANDWICH MEANT BUSINESS! If you're a chicken cutlet fan, do yourself a favor and get this sandwich. The chicken is fried to absolute perfection--crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Zero dryness, thin, & tender. The homemade mozzarella is next-level creamy. Cheesy like this review but not too extreme where it's overwhelming. The roasted red peppers brought a sweet, smoky kick that ties everything together. For the vampires out there, watch out because these peppers had garlic which was surprisingly not too "garlicky" but just the right amount. But the real MVP is the sesame hero. Soft, chewy, and loaded with sesame. It held the whole sandwich together like a champ. Every bite feels like comfort food done with skill. Straight-up amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Also, this sandwich was equal to three meals for me! $17 for a hero & $12.50 for a roll

I've been craving a good Italian chicken cutlet sandwich for awhile. After striking out at the in person lottery at the Public Theater for Shakespeare in the Park, I continued strolling downtown and looked in my Yelp collections that I save of places I want to try by neighborhood ... Parisi Bakery had been on a list awhile and looked to check the chicken cutlet sandwich craving. There were so many good distractions along the way, including the newly opened Mommy Pai, the chicken finger place from the Thai Diner team which is across the street from Parisi. Small line on Thursday1pm-ish, with mostly locals on line (as NYers, we were all a bit chatty and in a good mood, waiting to order their yummy sandwiches). I chose the chicken cutlet, with roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese, balsamic on a large roll (about 3" diameter). The sandwich was a perfect warm temperature... no seating inside, I sat on the bench outside and devoured half of the sandwich. Yes, this delivered what I wanted! Fabulous team inside taking care of us! Thank you. $13.59 with tax and they took credit card, for those who said cash only in the past.

The Dennis with roasted peppers is so filling. I made two meals out of it because half was already too much for one sitting. It was packed full of chicken cutlets and mozzarella. The pesto and the roasted peppers made it one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. I regret that I couldn't eat it immediately, but even after 45 minutes, everything stayed intact and was still delicious. I will definitely need to come back to try it freshly made as I'm sure it'll be even better.

Had to come for their infamous sandwhiches and I like this spot better than most that are actually pretty hyped up, this place is super good. Soft bread, and high quality ingredients, you can't beat it! They are cash only and the sandwiches are gigantic - which makes sense given it's $20 for a whole one. I split the Dennis with a friend and it was honestly the perfect lunch. Great spot!

Wooiee are we glad we found this gem of a deli where they slice the meat in front on you!! Got the Italian sandwich and it was delicious. HUGE but fire. Definitely a meal for two. The more popular sandwich looked even better so we'll be trying that the next time we find ourselves in NY.

Went to Parisi for lunch and grabbed a Dennis sandwich. There was about 8 people on line and 2 workers behind the counter but it was quick. Small space for grab and go. Variety of cold and hot sandwiches. The Dennis sandwich is prosciutto, chicken cutlet, tomato, mozzarella cheese, pesto and balsamic dressing. To add roasted red peppers is an extra $1. There is no seating inside so I took it home. The sandwich is big for me so it can be shared or saved for another meal. The Dennis is always a hit with me, I always add my own flavored balsamic as well. Quick and easy with good portion.

    Sandwich making only. No seats

I ordered the Kale Chicken Caesar Salad, which comes with grilled chicken, kale, Caesar dressing, croutons, Parmesan cheese, and a huge piece of buttered bread. I also added grilled steak cooked medium because apparently one protein wasn't enough for me. Both the chicken and steak were flavorful, and the steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it. The salad was filling enough to feel like an actual meal rather than just something light. I also ordered the Strawberry Margarita, which was only $10 thanks to their all day, everyday margarita special. And listen, they are NOT playing with that margarita. It was strong but still tasted really good, which is exactly the balance I want from a cocktail. I ate alone and really liked the seating setup. I had a cute little booth that felt perfect for a solo diner, but it would work just as well for two people. The restaurant also has plenty of seating for larger groups, so it seems like an easy choice whether you're eating alone or coming with friends or family. The servers were attentive to me and assisted me quickly. They also checked in on me multiple times. The interior was another highlight. There's a beautiful wall covered with different pieces of artwork that adds a lot of character to the restaurant and makes the space feel much more visually interesting than your typical diner. Overall, this was a great quick meal while I was out running errands. Good food, a surprisingly strong $10 margarita, and a comfortable atmosphere for dining solo. I'd definitely stop in again when I'm in the area.

I'm so glad Broad Nosh Bagels & Deli popped up in my search, as it was exactly what I was looking to enjoy. A couple of us trekked the few blocks to find the storefront. Inside it was PACKED, and several groups and lines snaked around the dividers. But the line moved quickly between customers picking up to-go meals and placing orders at the counters. The display cases are beautiful and feature so many different kinds of cream cheese. (Who knew you could make a whole vat of Biscoff?) They also had many types of smoked fish and toppings for customers filing through. Once you order food, you take your ticket to the register where you can add any drinks. This also went fairly quickly. Food and drink order numbers were called out and checked with the receipts, although they called out a set of orders for several minutes and no one came to pick them up. There are a few tables there, but since customers wait to grab drinks and food near the front, the couple tables at the front were basically for crowd control. I definitely wouldn't try to eat there unless I happened to be going at a quieter time. I got the bagel with smoked salmon, and it was exactly what I had been craving. Their bagels are a quarter pound each, so you might even get two meals out of it if you have a fridge for storage. But even as good as the bagel was, the hot chai latte with oat milk was the star for me. It was so incredibly layered for flavor and fragrant, just lightly sweet. I would go out of my way on a trip to NYC just to get one of these for breakfast! We all really enjoyed our food, and I will definitely return.

Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
