The chicken parm is definitely my favorite because there's nothing better than a hot sandwich on a cold day. Their chicken cutlet portions are always generous. We usually have them cut our sandwiches into quarters because we like to order a few different ones to share, such as the chicken parm and the Italian combo. We used to get them on their round semolina bread which was absolutely amazing, but unfortunately they don't make the round semolina anymore. The bread here is just top-notch, fresh, chewy, and delicious. They often sell out quickly, sometimes by lunchtime which tells you how popular they are. Wow, in a city with no shortage of superb delis, Parisi makes one hell of an elite sando. I was planning on getting a chicken parm, but the guys ahead of me were regulars and gave the Dennis a strong recommendation. They added a pro tip: ask for Parisi's fresh pesto on it. I got it on a roll but I wish I did a hero because it was so tasty. The chicken cutlets were thin and not dry at all. This spot still hits. It's been a while since the last time I had their sandwiches (I had the Dennis last time! Good but not my fave) and I was specifically craving a meatball parm. Why not go to an old-school Italian deli and bakery for that? $16 for meatball parm on a seeded hero with four big smushed meatballs. The meatballs were juicy and tender and delicious! Plenty of fresh mozzarella cheese and a fresh tomato sauce. I ate half the hero and am looking forward to eating the rest tomorrow after toasting it! After striking out at the in person lottery at the Public Theater for Shakespeare in the Park, I continued strolling downtown and looked in my Yelp collections that I save of places I want to try by neighborhood ... Small line on Thursday1pm-ish, with mostly locals on line (as NYers, we were all a bit chatty and in a good mood, waiting to order their yummy sandwiches). The place is a small hole in the wall basically but service is quick and fast. I'd recommend the Italian combo that never fails. Their bread here is delicious and fresh. They'll over fry the chicken breast and the chicken becomes dry and tough. Not at Parisi Bakery. The chicken isn't too thick, it's the perfect size and the breast was juicy.
