The Dennis and Roasted Peppers Hot Sandwich
    rahul s.

Food - excellent. One of the best Italian sandwiches I ever had hands down. Every topping was phenomenal I got the Dennis and I recommend adding peppers. Service was good, they got your order and got you out of there quick. Now the place was super small which left us no place to eat and it was raining outside, that's the only downside ti this place. Overall, highly recommend

I love sandwiches so had to try this old school Italian deli! The Dennis is what they're known for, I got the one with roasted peppers for some extra flavor. I ordered at the counter and my sandwich was ready very quickly, probably in under 5min! I was impressed with their speed and efficiency. The Dennis is famous for a reason! I got it on a roll but I wish I did a hero because it was so tasty. The chicken cutlets were thin and not dry at all. Combined with the fresh mozzarella, the pesto, roasted peppers and fresh bread, it was delicious! Even the roll was very filling. They definitely do not skimp on the meat! They have a 2 person bench outside but it was taken so I went to a DeSalvio playground which was a block away. Tons of benches so it was the perfect spot nearby to enjoy my sandwich.

First timer. A great sandwich. I got the Dennis. Crispy fried chicken cutlets (big pieces, thick breading), Fresh mozzarella, Prosciutto (looks like Parma-style), Tomato slices, Italian hero roll (crusty bakery-style), oil/vinegar or light seasoning. Only $17.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time but haven't been able to make it due to the outrageous $9 congestion toll fee. However, today is the day! I ordered the #3 which was the chicken cutlet with mozzarella & roasted peppers. THIS SANDWICH MEANT BUSINESS! If you're a chicken cutlet fan, do yourself a favor and get this sandwich. The chicken is fried to absolute perfection--crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. Zero dryness, thin, & tender. The homemade mozzarella is next-level creamy. Cheesy like this review but not too extreme where it's overwhelming. The roasted red peppers brought a sweet, smoky kick that ties everything together. For the vampires out there, watch out because these peppers had garlic which was surprisingly not too "garlicky" but just the right amount. But the real MVP is the sesame hero. Soft, chewy, and loaded with sesame. It held the whole sandwich together like a champ. Every bite feels like comfort food done with skill. Straight-up amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Also, this sandwich was equal to three meals for me! $17 for a hero & $12.50 for a roll

Where all the yummy sandwiches are made! No indoor seating, just a beach outside. Go!!

I've been craving a good Italian chicken cutlet sandwich for awhile. After striking out at the in person lottery at the Public Theater for Shakespeare in the Park, I continued strolling downtown and looked in my Yelp collections that I save of places I want to try by neighborhood ... Parisi Bakery had been on a list awhile and looked to check the chicken cutlet sandwich craving. There were so many good distractions along the way, including the newly opened Mommy Pai, the chicken finger place from the Thai Diner team which is across the street from Parisi. Small line on Thursday1pm-ish, with mostly locals on line (as NYers, we were all a bit chatty and in a good mood, waiting to order their yummy sandwiches). I chose the chicken cutlet, with roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese, balsamic on a large roll (about 3" diameter). The sandwich was a perfect warm temperature... no seating inside, I sat on the bench outside and devoured half of the sandwich. Yes, this delivered what I wanted! Fabulous team inside taking care of us! Thank you. $13.59 with tax and they took credit card, for those who said cash only in the past.

The Dennis with roasted peppers is so filling. I made two meals out of it because half was already too much for one sitting. It was packed full of chicken cutlets and mozzarella. The pesto and the roasted peppers made it one of my favorite sandwiches in the city. I regret that I couldn't eat it immediately, but even after 45 minutes, everything stayed intact and was still delicious. I will definitely need to come back to try it freshly made as I'm sure it'll be even better.

Had to come for their infamous sandwhiches and I like this spot better than most that are actually pretty hyped up, this place is super good. Soft bread, and high quality ingredients, you can't beat it! They are cash only and the sandwiches are gigantic - which makes sense given it's $20 for a whole one. I split the Dennis with a friend and it was honestly the perfect lunch. Great spot!

Wooiee are we glad we found this gem of a deli where they slice the meat in front on you!! Got the Italian sandwich and it was delicious. HUGE but fire. Definitely a meal for two. The more popular sandwich looked even better so we'll be trying that the next time we find ourselves in NY.

Went to Parisi for lunch and grabbed a Dennis sandwich. There was about 8 people on line and 2 workers behind the counter but it was quick. Small space for grab and go. Variety of cold and hot sandwiches. The Dennis sandwich is prosciutto, chicken cutlet, tomato, mozzarella cheese, pesto and balsamic dressing. To add roasted red peppers is an extra $1. There is no seating inside so I took it home. The sandwich is big for me so it can be shared or saved for another meal. The Dennis is always a hit with me, I always add my own flavored balsamic as well. Quick and easy with good portion.

Parisi Bakery is this very small place, with no tables or seats, that's cash only and no place to wash your hands after a gritty subway ride. How's that for an opening? But, it's really really good. These young men are sandwich gurus. They are so good at what they do, it amazed an old goat like me. My son came in from Brooklyn to have lunch with his Dad (me), and he knew of Parisi Bakery for years. We ordered: * A #6 which is a turkey sandwich on a magnificent roll, with Swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, olive oil and mayo. It's big, delicious and hearty * A #3 which is a chicken sandwich with mozzarella and peppers stuffed into a roll * A bag of BBQ chips * Two waters Everything ordered was excellent. Sitting on the curb eating your lunch was a challenge, but the sandwiches were good enough where it didn't matter. The only caveat of this experience was that wash your hands after a subway ride thing; if I didn't find a store that sold me a small bottle of Purell at 3X the cost at CVS, I would have passed on this lunch. Thank you Purell!!!!!

We ducked here to grab some nourishment before I became to hangry. Ordering takes place at the counter then grab a table. I had a 1/2 bowl of their "famous chicken soup" and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. Had good flavor and was enough to warm me up on this brisk morning. My niece did a bagel, and after trying all week she finally got one exactly how she wanted it made. We ate and chilled for a bit, no plans for the day other than making it to the airport to go home. Was able to people watch and catch up without feeling rushed to leave. Saw locals come through, so you know it is a place worth stopping. The staff were nice and even apologized for not being able to give me the soup I wanted in a half order. Date of visit: April 14, 2026…read more Our friend wanted to go to a real New York deli during her first trip to the city and this is the one in the vicinity of Times Square and our evening show that was the highest rated according to my fellow Yelpers, but I am not quite sure why based on our experience. Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
