I really enjoyed my panini here! I liked how I could order in advance on door dash and create my own. I got the hot panini with focaccia, grilled chicken, mozzarella, pesto, spinach, and peppers. It was good quality with fresh ingredients and I liked how it wasn't too oily or over sauced. I did takeout and walked to pick it up. It's a very small place but you could sit there if you wanted, but there's only space for only 4 people or so. The staff seemed polite. I'd definitely get pickup here again! Wow, located in West Village this was an amazing Italian sandwich shop providing the same great taste as the various other delis across the city. I ordered the San Classico and while I did feel it was a bit smaller than I was expecting, compared to the size at your typical deli, it was quite flavorful, with each bite having me crave more. If you have a craving, this place is definitely worth a visit. The shop itself is quite small. I walked in and a man at the desk took my order. The cash register is towards the back of the shop. Within 10 mins, given that there was a small line, I had a sandwich in my hands. It was packed with plenty of sliced meat. The bread was properly toasted and just as crispy as I would like. We arrived on a Saturday around 1pm and I think this place deserves more hype. There are small seating areas inside for parties of two, but overall not so big of a shop. Staff is extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions, but it can get hard to get their attention given how busy it all is. Highly recommend! So I ended up at Sanpanino in the West Village the other day, kinda by accident honestly, I was just walking around, hungry and a little annoyed at everything being either super pricey or super extra, and this place felt like the right middle ground. It's small inside, like really not a lot of room, you walk in and you're basically at the counter already. The vibe is very "regulars spot" people popping in, saying hi, grabbing their usual, a couple folks squeezed at the little counter or tables just quietly destroying their sandwiches. No decor moment, no "Instagram wall," just... a sandwich shop. It's a little cramped and can feel a bit tight when more people come in, but it also kinda adds to that New York, we're-all-on-top-of-each-other charm, if that makes sense. Service is super straightforward, which I actually like. You walk up, they're like "what can I get you," you tell them, they maybe ask one or two follow-ups, and that's it. No fake small talk, no trying to upsell you on ten things, just normal people making your food. They move pretty quick, too. Even with a couple orders ahead of me, I wasn't standing around forever. My sandwich was hot, wrapped up right, nothing missing, no confusion. It's not "warm and fuzzy" service but it's efficient and not rude, which is honestly perfect for a quick lunch. Price-wise, for the West Village, it's... honestly not bad. For my first time there I ordered their signature Prosciutto di Parma, which seemed to get a lot of rave reviews on Yelp. Having the panini grilled makes the mozzarella so gooey and smooth. I usually order a half sandwich as I eat modest portions. When I want a bit of variety- i get the half sandwich and soup combo. But if you have a heartier appetite then go for the whole sandwich. Outside of their great paninis they also have a good selection of salads available for purchase. All of their panini and salads are customizable. They also have a breakfast menu too. Limited outdoor seating - bunch of stools in the open air- which was perfect for us. This place is in my neighborhood and I've eaten here 30+ times. I love that they have high quality ingredients, and the focaccia is homemade, light, buttery and crispy. I've tried 7-8 different sandwiches, but I always come back to the #1 extra toasted with balsamic vinegar to dip it in. The sandwiches can end up on the pricier side if you add extras, and they aren't huge. But they're such high quality Italian classics, I always feel happy and satisfied after a sandwich, chips & a homemade lemonade. The lemonade is very tart, hardly sweet, which I like. You can also ask for a half and half with tea. Mozzarella is freshly made, tomatoes are freshly sliced. Again, the focaccia is extra special and one of a kind. The workers are quiet and don't offer any charms. When someone makes eye contact behind the counter, yell out what number you want, move to the register, pay for your meal. The store is extremely small and can get very busy, so I generally wait outside and someone will pop out and give me my sandwich when it's ready. Keep in mind, they do catering, etc so I have waited 15 minutes for my sandwich to be made before. Call ahead if you have time constraints, especially if you're getting it toasted. They have some outdoor cafe tables you can sit at; very basic but a nice option. I'll usually choose to go down to the Hudson and have a picnic instead. Though, I just got two sandwiches, one of focaccia and the other on a hero, and both were unbearably dry - it tasted like 3-day old bread. It was disappointing and made it unenjoyable to eat.
