I've been coming to this sandwich shop since the '90s. My other sandwich favorites like Dean & DeLuca, Duke's Deli, Dom's, and Parisi's in the area are all gone now, so it's a major feat that this place is still standing with how much neighborhood rent has skyrocketed. I usually get a sandwich and soup for lunch, and they are still delicious. The sandwich is simple and perfect, made with fresh bread and quality ingredients. The soup is hearty, comforting, and tastes homemade. While the rest of the block has turned into shiny high-end retails and trendy cafes, this shop is a classic time capsule. Very expensive tiny portions *but* well-balanced gourmet sandwiches. Maybe $34 to eat my fill for lunch, I don't remember. Unfortunately, as other reviews have recounted, the bread of the hero (on a Monday morning, no less) was laughably stale. It was the best jaw workout I've had in years. The hot beef sandwich, which was ready exactly in the prescribed 12 minutes, was fantastic, however. Especially in SoHo where $15-20 is average for lunch. Quick service and high-quality food makes this an easy option for weekday lunches. Every sandwich I've tried has tasted fresh and it's fun that the menu rotates daily. The mozzarella tomato pesto sandwich is a favorite followed by the special sandwiches that rotate daily and the chicken salad sandwich. Loved the butternut squash this past winter. There are always lines out the door, yes, it is a small restaurant with very limited seating BUT lines to me mean really good food. I love their turkey, , it's the freshest and the sandwich is packed with delicious thick slices of it. The only opportunity is to offer a healthier option of bread, I really try to limit by cheat only day. They should offer wrap and whole wheat pita options. I got the special which was a steak sandwich. It tasted decent but the bread was hard and the meat was falling out of the bread.

We haven't been back in about 5 years, but the sandwiches are back to the way we like them. In a nostalgia moment we decided to stop by and get our regular order, ancho chili steak sandwich and tuna sandwich. Both were great, just hard to enjoy in the million degree weather. Fast, decent Italian sandwiches. The Olive's Hero came on a sourdough that was a little more tough than crisp. I wish it had been a little fluffier. Tiny sandwich shop in soho. Cute interior with bar seating and 2 or 3 outdoor tables. Staff was very pleasant and quick. It was hot as hell outside and there was no AC, so ordering while profusely sweating was not a cute situation. I got the Turkey special which was roast Turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and mayo on a baguette. I wish I had gone with the staple Turkey on sourdough as the baguette was pretty hard and kinda scratches the roof of your mouth (don't you hate when that happens?). The Turkey was really fresh and flavorful. The avocado was browning but again, it was a 90+ degree day in nyc, so I wasn't surprised. I did get the cowboy cookie which was pretty good, but I think I prefer the milk bar compost cookie which is similar but better. Overall, it was pretty expensive for what it was but I enjoyed it. While walking around the colorful neighborhoods of New York, we stumbled upon Olive's. I spied the gourmet espresso machine and the old vinyl records in the window so I popped inside. This is a cute little corner coffee shop that offers food and coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and it was really tasty! Very high quality beans and perfectly frothed milk. There's not much seating (as is the case with most places in the city), but they have a few stools along big picture windows. I've never had dry focaccia bread before! If you walk in and order a sandwich, the food comes out super quick, you basically get your food by the time you finish signing your receipt which makes me think the sandwiches are most likely pre-made. If you are in a super hurry to pick up any random sandwich to eat, then this is a place to go since they are super fast. But quality of the food is very poor and I would not recommend it if you are looking for a decent sandwich for lunch. read more
