I am but a novice food critic with an infantile grasp on the Manhattan food scene--but I am not shy to admit here on Yelp that 1803 is my favorite restaurant in New York. I ate here for the first time with a couple other guys (who have all worked in the restaurant industry) 5 years ago. We ate until we were full, still had leftovers, and enjoyed the creative-yet-familiar cocktails and quirky decor from the mezzanine. Everyone had something nice to say about our experience here, and to this day I still remember reheating my jambalaya the next morning and having a satisfying breakfast. On my most recent visit to the city last month, I brought my girlfriend--and this place still stands up. The staff is attentive and patient, with helpful suggestions and personable service. The drinks are exciting. And most of all, the food is delicious and, in authentic Nola style, is served in generous portions at a fair price. Probably not a Michelin-worthy fine dining experience, but--and I do not throw this term around a lot on this app--I LOVE this restaurant. Catch me back here every time I'm in New York. read more

My wife and I decided to switch up our standard Friday date night routine by trying out a couple restaurants and grabbing a few small bites from each location. We came here mostly because we enjoyed our culinary experience in New Orleans last year. We split a few of the appetizers, including the hot cajun corn & the honey chili Brussel sprouts. The corn was quite tasty - I enjoyed it. The honey chili Brussel sprouts was ,however, my favorite. You got the heat from the chili and the slight sweetness from the honey. From the website to the first impression walking into 1803 I was sure I made the right decision, the friends that I invited enjoyed drinks as they waited for me to arrive. It was all of our first time - we all enjoyed the decor and ambiance. We drank at the bar before being seated - drinks were good, customer service from the staff at the bar was great, very personable and attentive. Once seated at our table we ordered appetizers, crab dip & pretzel bites, and the muffuletta flatbread - presentation, size, flavor 10/10 delicious. Entrees - blackened Sesame Salmon was just okay and dry. Crispy roasted French chicken, didn't have any flavor - the chicken was just okay, the green beans had bacon in it that tasted overcooked, I almost didn't recognize that it was bacon. There was no cream, fat, or richness to these entrees that I expected to get from a New Orleans styled restaurant. The appetizers were better than the entrees. There was no weight, or layered flavors to the dishes. I almost feel like this was more of the restaurant catering to the audience, instead of staying true to what it was designed for. As the time passed the environment became less alluring and felt more like a chain - the music was some awful top 10 If the restaurant stayed true to the website it could have been the cutest experience to stumble upon. Came here for a Birthday dinner. We were a party 8. The place is decorated like you are in New Orleans. They have 2 floors. The staff was attentive. The food and drinks are really good here. We really enjoyed the oysters. The food didn't take long to come out. We ended up ordering them twice. The steak frites was good. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The etoufee was tasty. This restaurant offers New Orleans vibes in Tribeca. I stopped by for a quick bite at the bar during happy hour. I ordered the chicken burger and fries and asked for the chicken to be grilled instead of the fried and my server obliged. I also ordered the gumbo with dirty rice. The gumbo was heavier on the tomato sauce than I like, with a reddish color instead of the darker hue I'm used to from dining in New Orleans. It came with a generous portion of dirty rice. Overall, the food was decent and the restaurant did not skimp on the portions. The service was efficient yet impersonal. I sat on the first floor, but there's also a balcony level that offers a great view of the restaurant. The Cup Signature Gumbo was amazing and the absolute best part of the whole meal was definitely the flavorful jambalaya rice inside it. Great Creole restaurant with an awesome vibe! Came here on a weeknight. I made sure to make reservations ahead of time, since the restaurant tends to be busy. The place was crowded, but we got a table on the second floor right away. For appetizers, we ordered the Honey Chili Brussels Sprouts and the Cajun Shrimp Skewers. Both were delicious with a ton of flavor. 5/5 for appetizers. For my entree, I had the Cornmeal-crusted Black Sea Bass. It was also really good. The fish was seared perfectly, the vegetables and lemon butter sauce combined with it perfectly. 4.5/5 for entree. For dessert, we shared the Hummingbird cake. I enjoyed the cake filling, which was coffee flavor, more than the rest of the cake. 4/5 for dessert. I think next time I might order the Beignets or Bread Pudding. The atmosphere gets a 5/5 for me. Stopped in for a late night dinner at 1803 and was pretty hairy with my experience. As someone who didn't eat seafood, I was a little more limited than my friends. But that's on new, it's NOLA inspired, so you're going to have plenty of seafood options. The burger I had was pretty good, we were happy with the service, and the restaurant itself was very cool looking. Another one of those spots I've had bookmarked for a while and needed an excuse to be in the area to be able to go out of my way to try them out. That excuse was finding a new primary doctor and was in the area. So here we are. Someone told me that this was the best creole restaurant in NYC and I have to say they might be onto something. I came in for brunch alone, so I was able to get seated by the bar. Otherwise it sounds like you really need a reservation to be able to get a table. I can only imagine how busy they get for dinner. They had a jazz band playing on the mezzanine level, so you really feel like you're in NOLA. I started off with a cup of their Signature Gumbo ($13), which was a great way to start my meal and a way to warm up from the cold winter. This consisted of oysters, crab, shrimp, andouille sausage, tomato with cajun rice on the side. For entree, I ordered the Crawfish Cake Benedict ($24), which tasted amazing. Unlike your typical Eggs Benedict, which is on an English muffin, sub that muffin out with a crawfish patty and yeah...I'm not eating regular eggs benedict again. We weren't impressed. The food was ultra salty, the salad was mediocre, the jambalaya was average, and the beignets were fairly subpar. It wasn't a great food night for us, but the drinks, vibe, ambiance, and service were amazing. That said, not sure how I'd rate this spot. I wish Yelp had an "I'll let you know the next time I return" button. I wanted to LOVE this place, but I don't want to shoot it down because our food could've been a very off night. You know how sometimes it's a fluke? That's how I somewhat feel. I'll rate it a 3.5 because I want it to be a 5. We'll reconvene when I return for my second review. This is a 4.5 star review I've now been to 1803 twice: once for a work happy hour and once for a friend happy hour. I genuinely can't believe I didn't know this place was so close to my office. It's so funky and classy. The bar is beautiful and there's a good amount of space, with two floors. For happy hour, which goes until 7pm, I've had a number of spritzes and white wines. Both were good and were ($10-12). I also had a slider, which I really liked. It was nice and juicy/flavorful, although a bit undercooked. I also had some vegetarian nachos which were really good with beans and peppers and cheese etc. These were both around $12 each as happy hour items. Staff is always super nice! read more

My friend and I wanted to try somewhere new for brunch and came across 1803 NYC on TikTok. Definitely glad we did! We started with the charbroiled oysters and spinach dip - both were so good. The spinach dip especially caught our attention because the texture was different from any other we've had. It seemed like the spinach and artichoke were blended instead of chunky, which actually made it super smooth and flavorful. For drinks, we ordered a pitcher of French 75, which gave us about 8 glasses total (well worth it ). For our entrees, we shared the pancakes and jambalaya - both were amazing and the portions were generous. What really sealed the deal was the service. Everyone from the hosts to our server was incredibly kind and attentive. Once they found out it was my birthday, they surprised us with frozen watermelon margaritas - and I don't even like watermelon, but this drink was actually good! The space itself isn't huge, but it's a nice size for the area, and there's even an upstairs balcony with extra seating. Prices were also really fair considering the portion sizes and quality. These days, too many restaurants are overpriced with average service, but not here. I've already told all my friends about 1803 NYC and will 100% be back. The food here was pretty good but the star of the show to me were the grilled oysters. They were so good and packed so much flavor I had two orders of them. My only complaint was that they were very small. For my entree I had the shrimp etouffe it was pretty good but didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting especially since this is supposed to be a cajun restaurant. The beignets were a disappointment - they had no flavor and was on the dry side. My daughter went here with a friend a couple of years ago and has been begging me to go back with her and trying to get someone to take her on a date there. It for sure is a cute date spot...decor, vibe, drinks. The food is very good. I've now been twice and although I posted pics from the first visit, I can't remember what those menu items were. This last time I had the short rib ragu and the gem and herb salad and my daughter had charbroiled oysters and the gumbo with dirty rice. The pasta was very good but I was disappointed when it was served with shells instead of the paccheri noted on the menu. The salad was very good--fresh, crisp, complex, lightly dressed. Gumbo and rice was good, as were the oysters but my daughter said they weren't as hot as she would have expected since they were fired. We shared the croissant-based bread pudding, which is a must. Came here on a Saturday morning with a reservation. This place is bright, welcoming, and filled with greenery. We ordered the pitcher for the the French 75 which was light, sweet, and perfect for a party of 3. We had the chicken and waffles which came with 3 different sauces (chili oil, syrup, and some white creamy sauce) all of which worked really well and gave us different ways to enjoy this dish. Came for a quick dinner since we were in the area ... The Knick's playoffs was in full swing so we just decided to grab a bite on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were immediately seated upstairs with a view of the game. The downstairs was full and there was def a vibe with Knicks fans in house. Our server was nice and checked on us throughout our meal. New Orleans food is supposed to be robust and rich in flavor. The food was just bland. Food doesn't necessarily need to have a lot of salt to be good but there was just no salt or that great New Orleans Cajun flavor that I adore . I would say the portion size was decent. My sisters and I had an AMAZING experience on Friday night thanks to Bridget and the manager, whose name slipped my mind (I think it was Francisco). I'm so sorry if not but I do know they were both so lovely to the three of us. We loved everything we got especially the chasing goat cocktail, steak frites and charbroiled oysters. We also enjoyed the coconut bread with jasmine butter. Bridget and the manager also tried their best to accommodate us in terms of moving our table. Came with pepper pickles, arugula and cheese and pesto. The pesto i didn't realize or I would have asked for it with no pesto. And I asked for no peppers but they were on there. Made reservations for Sat brunch and the place was relatively empty around 1:30 pm on a sunny day. Live music, welcoming host, and cozy interiors is how the interiors felt. We really went here to try their beignets - but their menu rotates every 2 weeks and their website wasn't updated with their new menu. That however did not stop us from trying other things which included their Signature Gumbo ($13 - cup). A little too seafood forward in terms of the aroma of that dish, however the cajun rice was packed with flavor. Vegan Jambalaya ($29) is what we shared as our entree, and while tasty, it felt a little too dry. They 1803 red and green hot sauces though were a flavor explosion - a must try for spice lovers! They made the waffles and chicken into a waffles and berry compote for our little one, so thanks to Tsubi for that! What up, Yelp! I'm back again with another date night review this time for 1803 NYC; a Cajun restaurant located in Tribeca. First off, I love the aesthetic of the place. Decorated with floral elements and fluer de lis fencing, it's like a small burst of NOLA in NYC. They also sometimes have a band playing live jazz Since Babe and I have been exploring all of the raw oyster options we can, I HAD to put him on to the charbroiled version! 1803 NYC does an amazing job with them too; buttery with the perfect amount of spice, they're definitely a 10/10. We also got some raw oysters, of course. Those were delicious too We then got the Brussels sprouts and the sea bass. The Brussel Sprouts were cooked to perfection with a crunchy outer texture and a pillowy inside. And the chilli sauce it comes in? Absolutely BAGING! As for the sea bass I wasn't expecting it to come fried (though I don't know what I expected after reading cornmeal crusted but ya live and learn right ). Either way, the fish was super meaty and well cooked. I also loved the lemon butter caper sauce it came with. Though I personally wasn't a big fan of the frying mixture used and think the fish would be better served grilled, I enjoyed my overall dining experience Def recommend this spot for a date night or an after work drink SN: I LOVE the sauces that come on the table. The Fresno chilli has a vibrant kick while the green sauce was a bit more mellow but packed with flavor. I also wanted to give a quick shoutout to our server, Bridgette! We needed a brunch place for a party of 10 (including two toddlers), which is almost impossible to find in NYC. Luckily I was able to find 1803 NYC on my search. It's easily accessible close to the Chambers St stop and spacious with a fun decor and music. The service was nice. The menu was extensive with a lot of staple items as well as interesting dishes with a Cajun flare. I enjoyed my crabs benedict. My husband liked his polenta dish. Our friends liked their dishes as well which ranged from the pancakes to the fried chicken sandwich to the grilled chicken sandwich. It was a first that every one ordered something different. My friend and I had a reservation at 1803 NYC at 5:30 on a Monday evening. I read some reviews about the restaurant being very loud, but if you go around this time, it is not that crowded. Interior-wise, there is a small discrepancy between the upscale vibe their decor gives and the appearance of the floors, walls, and bathrooms. We split charbroiled oysters ($23), my friend got the jambalaya ($29), and I got the Louisiana pulled pork sandwich ($20). The oysters had a wonderful sauce that tasted like a zesty tomato base. My friend enjoyed the jambalaya and noted it had great flavor. The pork in the sandwich was tender and cooked well. However, I do like some type of smoke or bbq flavor in my pulled pork, and this fell flat in that regard. The fries were cooked perfectly, so they had a nice crisp. Service was good! We had multiple check backs and quick service. Overall, I felt like the restaurant had great flavors at appropriate dinner prices. Crab was overly wet and the chips that came with the corn dip were overly seasoned with Cajun seasoning. It was like they dumped the whole bottle on them and ran out when it came to the food. Entrees were XO Noodles and Penne pasta. The penne was flavorless. The XO was a weird sweetness. I ate the 5 shrimp it came with and left the rest. Desserts were hard ass beignets and a bread pudding with an overly sweet salted caramel ice cream. The server was nice and so were the bus boys except we witnessed some unhygienic behavior that left us feeling uncomfortable. All in all won't be back. Save your money. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We initially made a reservation because we wanted to experience the live jazz music at brunch however when we got there the only table available was in the corner with no view of the band upstairs. With the help of the staff we were able to quickly pivot and sit at the bar, and that was a better place for us anyway. We stared out with the unlimited mimosas and were able to pick what type of juice we wanted. We then ordered the brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese for the table to share. Both came out pulling hot and tasted amazing. I got the chicken and waffles and was not at all disappointed. The live jazz was great and they even gave my friend a bday shout out.
