Still made it during lunch special combo deals; Ordered half dozen raw oysters, Fried Clam Caesar salad, Crispy cod tacos, and clam chowder with Lobster slider. Dishes delivered to the table warm and with good timing. Oysters tasted fresh without the heavy fishy smell. The star of the meal was definitely the creamy clam chowder soup- with the delicious lobster sandwich to compliment the dish. Went to The Clam in the West Village for happy hour with two friends on a Thursday night. We were able to grab three seats at the bar (only 4-5 total), and service was prompt. We came specifically for the happy hour (4-7pm), which is a great deal: $8 wines (generous pours) and $10 cocktails. The cocktails are smaller, about half the size of a standard drink. The happy hour wines were very good, with some interesting wine selections: I had the Portuguese red blend, which I really enjoyed, and my friends ordered a white (Grillo from Sicily) that they enjoyed. We also tried the happy hour cocktails, the Petite Plane (very strong) and the Cucumber Cooler, both good, but next time I would stick with wine for value. For food, we ordered the fries ($12), the mixed fried seafood (~$30), and each got a slider (lobster/fried clam). The fried seafood was excellent and something I would definitely order again, crispy shrimp, clams, calamari, and two really tasty aioli sauces. But the lobster slider with fried clams was very expensive and a small slider-sized sandwich ($21). One friend had ordered them before, so we went for it, but had I known the price relative to portion size, I likely would have skipped it. Overall, this is a great happy hour spot, it's cute, open, nicely decorated, with calm lighting and no loud music. Perfect for catching up with friends or a low-key date. The service was so good--everyone was so attentive, kind and friendly. We each had a Market Plate - which was fresh, delicious and flavorful. My friend had the Salmon with the glazed carrots and sautéed greens. I had the Gulf Shrimp with the other two sides--quinoa and dressed spring salad. The Clam had been on my list for so many years at this point, that I had simply forgotten about it. However, when I was hunting for a place for a work team lunch, I saw that they happened to have a reservation. I quickly navigated to their website and immediately fell in love with their light, healthy, and varied menu. I booked the reservation and eagerly awaited my meal. The restaurant had a cute and casual vibe inside, as well as a substantial outdoor dining area. We were seated indoors with the semi-open kitchen on one side and a large window on our other side. Our first server seemed nice enough and came by to get our beverage orders, though I stuck with water. A second waiter came by a little after that to write down our food selections. We had requested French fries and the clam dip to start. For my individual main dish, I opted for the Market Plate, selecting Faroe Island Salmon as my protein. I accompanied that with the Za'atar-Roasted Carrots and Shiitake Mushroom Caps as my 2 side dishes. After placing our order, my colleagues and I spent some time catching up, and, after a little bit, our entrees arrived. We carefully pointed out that our appetizers had never appeared. The first server came back to let us know that the staff had made a mistake and to see if we still wanted the starters anyway. We passed on the dip, which was probably a blessing in disguise based on the likely high calorie count, but decided to splurge on the fries, which were thin, crispy, and the perfect golden brown. They had been sprinkled with Old Bay, so they were salty, sweet, and savory. My main dish was also impeccably seasoned. I thought that the salmon was fine, but that both of the vegetables sides were excellent. By this time, we were all happy with our food and on the verge of being full. However, the portions were rather small, and we all wanted something sweet to cover up the fish taste in our mouths. So, we decided to order both the Chocolate Bread Pudding and the seasonal Peach & Blackberry Crisp for dessert. The bread pudding was a bit denser and drier than I usually like, but it was also rich and chocolatey, which saved it in my eyes. It was plated with a crème anglaise, a scoop of chocolate-chocolate chip gelato, and toasted, shaved almonds. Again, I thought the accouterments were the star of the dish. The crisp arrived warm with a sweet, crumbly oat streusel topping and a large mound of mascarpone gelato; it was hearty and delicious. I discovered The Clam through The Infatuation's "Best Oyster Happy Hours" post from the week prior. Unfortunately, the happy hour menu prices didn't align with what was listed online. That's not inherently a problem--restaurants are free to update pricing--but it did set the stage for a confusing experience. Oysters were listed at $5.00 each, which, even by New York standards, is steep for any hour, forget happy hour. My dining companion and I mentioned the discrepancy to our server in a friendly way. To their credit, they were instantly apologetic and acknowledged that we weren't the first to bring it up. We were told the price hike was due to tariffs--on oysters. From Massachusetts. Absurd, but almost funny. Another letdown was the Jumbo Gulf Shrimp Yakitori--$4 for one shrimp. A "jumbo" shrimp that could've fit on a silver dollar. It looked more like the kind of shrimp you'd get on a salad with no size listed--because no expectations means no disappointment. It was dry, sad, little shrimp. Overcooked and certainly not worth the price. Service was excellent, and drinks were fine, but the food didn't justify the prices. We ordered codfish, pasta with clams, salmon, lobster sliders, oysters, Parker house rolls , and clam dip, and all we enjoyed. The reasons for the four stars and not the five, service was actually too quickly paced and menu is a little pricy. And I sometimes think it's just my family that maybe eats too quickly, but there were two other tables around us who started and ended with us. If I'm dining out I prefer service to be a little slower so I feel as if it's an experience and not something to get through. read more

Best seafood I have had in a while! Tried a little bit of everything. I had the mezcal drink, the rye drink, and the sage drink and they were perfectly mixed. I had the clam and lobster slider, the clam chowder and the Branzino, and the cod with the mussels and the only feedback I have for you is maybe add a lemon wedge for the lobster and clam slider. The acidity of the lemon would add that flavor to the fried clam and would make it a perfect t slider. The cod was cooked beautifully and every dish was perfectly executed. I love food and so does my girlfriend and literally was an amazing experience. Great atmosphere, awesome service and staff, and the food was the best I've had in a while. I ended up flagging down his co worker whom I explained that his partner forgot about "baby in the corner". Thankfully, he so kindly stepped in. Although he had his own tables I do appreciate him filling in as he did. Dinner menu: I ordered the clam dip & the lobster & clam sliders, of course more wine & a to go order for the parentals. I packed up the sliders becuz at this point I was very full but again bare minimum of checking in on me. The food I consumed there was delish. The happy hour is solid and then if you get there at the right time it will roll into dinner which has more options. On one of the most beautiful Saturdays in recent memory, my best friend and I hit up The Clam, which I had saved down in my memory bank for over two years after eating at EN across the street. I'm not sure why it has stuck around for some long, maybe I have a soft spot for places with cute signage (rest in peace, Rossopomodoro). Overall, food was excellent, drinks less so. If I were to come here again, I'd just stick with the wine options, because the cocktails were kind of meh. I went with the Bird from Peru with pisco and supposedly pineapple and lemon but I couldn't taste much of anything. It was a little like drinking vaguely alcohol-flavored water. My friend's Alpine Stroll at Dawn with gin and green tea shochu was the total opposite, where it was like getting smacked in the face with rubbing alcohol. Oysters were plump, nicely shucked. Reminded me why I love oysters so much. Just take a look at those juicy beauties. I loved both entrees we ordered - the spaghetti and clams (saw this one on almost every table) and the baked halibut. Spaghetti was al dente, perfect level of chewiness and the tomato gravy on top was thick and hearty. A nice twist of the typical spaghetti vongole but with red sauce. Would love to try to recreate this at home. The halibut was so soft and flaky. Really liked the veggies underneath - bok choy, zucchini, and eggplant - but would have liked to see a bit more veggies for a $40 dish. Spicy cucumbers were good and pickled, but a tiny portion. 2nd time this month. We liked it the first time so much my partner wanted to celebrate his birthday there. We were greeted with 2 glasses of Prosecco. Ordered Clam chowder, mussels with coconut curry, clam with spaghetti, and Halibut with butternut risotto. Probably one of the BEST clam chowder anyone can get in the northeast. The potatoes in the chowder are perfectly cooked and small cube size, the way I liked it, not under or over cooked mushy but a just cooked firmness perfection. The right amount of clams. They split the soup into 2 when we shared it the first time. It's so good, my partner repeated the same he said the last time he had the clam chowder. We should just run down here just for the chowder if nothing else. The Halibut is amazing. But the star IMHO is the butternut risotto. Lately, even though I usually order seafood, each time the dishes arrive, I find myself reaching out for the vegetarian accompaniments if each dish first. The portions are decent. I was filled after having the mussels, and couldn't finish the spaghetti. We went at 6pm Sunday- it wasn't busy then. Something to consider, it's just better eating at 6pm than 7pm, place is quiet, wait staff attentive, and they comped us with a wonderful pana cotta with mango dessert complete with a candle. The tables were apart and only 2-4 tops. The Clam Dip was reminiscent for Lipton's sour cream dip - in a good way!! The potato chips were amazing - not only at all and large enough to get a good amount of the clam dip. I ordered the crab cake special a long with one lobster clam slider as my meal.
