I got lobster which was fine, but the clams were inedible because they were overcooked. Came here with a group of friends for a birthday dinner and it was actually a very nice experience. The service was great; the ambiance was a little loud but not chaotic. I ordered their capri sun drinks which was their twisted peach ice tea. It was not too sweet and the right amount of strong liquor. When I checked in, I was able to order a free side so I ordered their Brussel sprouts to enjoy with half a pound of shrimp and half a pound of mussels with their claw daddy special sauce (mild). I was a bit disappointed that the food came in a small pot instead of in a bag, I feel like the bag preserves the sauce and the flavor. The mussels and shrimp was very good but the Brussels sprouts were definitely the winner of the whole meal. They were roasted and just melted in your mouth. The happy hr drink menu is very limited and the only wine on it is Pinot Grigio for $9, the other drinks are $3 off during HH but u still don't really save. So to me it's not a happy hr place for drinking, but a happy hr place for seafood. I had the Crawfish Queso dip and the gumbo. The dip was average and I wouldn't order again. The gumbo was slightly above average, I had to add hot sauce for it to taste really good, and I'd get again. It's not authentic southern food but decent enough if you're hungry. Our server, Segundo, was delightful and very helpful with our choices. There were three of us, and we waited briefly at the bar for the last person to join us. Shoutout to the pleasant bartender! The manager, Tony, greeted everyone at the door, making us feel comfortable as soon as we entered. We will definitely return because the food and staff made it a lovely night. I had the claw boil with the Claw Daddy sauce, mildly spicy--it was so good! The garlic pasta was delicious, and I could eat it every day. The mac and crawfish was creamy and flavorful. I've been coming to CD on and off for 7+. There are always occasional minor issues such as, over salted seafood, bland mac, too juicy or watery drinks, unbalanced flavors. I like my shrimp to be soft/tender but the shrimp was well done (more of a tough chewy texture). The alligator was way over cooked but the batter is really nice and crispy. It's a shame it was very chewy because people are going to think that's the way it's supposed to be, if they never had a proper tender version. Also ordered a half po'boy and soup. I misunderstood the waiter and realized my alligator sammie was the same fried gator. And if they are truly getting the bread from Nola (which isn't necessary at all) they need to ensure it's still fresh to serve. My bread was on the cusp of getting stale (tough/hard but end). The chowder was iight; not creamy like I like it but more of a seafood bisque flavor/texture. Seeing as it was happy hour, oysters were ordered. We were told an order cannot be less than 6. I wanted 6 raw and 1 grilled (not many places can execute those well so I wanted to taste it). After our meal, and seeing it's still hphr, I wanted a few more oysters. Still no luck with our waiter even with all that we ordered. Later found out we could have ordered as we pleased (table next to us did 3 raw and 2 grilled). I hate being duped. My sister and I did a walk-in to try out their food for the first time since we were craving seafood boil. We were kindly guided from the door to our table and met with friendly waiters. My first time at Claw Daddy and this one on the Lower East Side seems relatively new. I stumbled upon it just by chance after work. I wanted a bite to eat and a cocktail so the huge happy hour signs posted on the windows caught my eye. $1.50 oysters, $1 wings, $2 grilled oysters, $3 off cocktails, $7 draft beers, $8 wines. Not really a spectacular happy hour but it is definitely doable and it's every day until 7:30 pm. Not bad at all! Since their cocktails are $3 off I took advantage and went for an adult Capri Sun (made with the ever popular Soju spirit). I ordered the "Louise" one (I forgot the ingredients but it was delicious and well made). My only gripe is that, although they make the pouches by order, it took FOREVER for me to get mine. They might need to get another bartender behind the bar, especially during their seemingly popular happy hour. I ordered some grilled oysters (you have to order at least a half dozen). They were wonderful! I ordered ten wings. They were decent, just small and could have been seasoned better. They could also have more of a variety of dipping sauces other than ranch and hot sauce.
